I love all the praise mining is getting. I love mining, and it is going to be my first 99. it takes forever to lvl, and I am not autoing cuz that's just dumb and its the journey not the destination. I think in a few years more people will have 99 rc than mining, and that's understandable, since mining yields little/no benefit. I hate those who say "rune is great money". no, it isn't. unless u have a psychic sense and caculator precision in timing, u will always log into worlds with depleated rune rocks. the time is hardly worth the 13k u can sell each ore for. then great reward of mining the honest way, which I doubt even half of the 1.7k 99 miners used, is the self gratifying feelin of reaching 99 in a skill that has no real benefit, and that u did it for the love of the skill, since if u didn't love mining, you wouldn't spend all that time getting 99 in it with no monetary gain like other skills also, people with money can easily get 99 in construction, farming, prayer, herblore, etc. any1 with money can do that. anyone with money can pick up a pick and click on a rock, but not everyone will last to 99. most will give up around 70-75. but someone with 10gp to their name who loves mining can pick up a pick and start mining to 99 and outlast the rich millionaire. mining is a skill of endurance, not money. money means nothing. rich, poor, if u are willing to put the time in, you will achieve 99 in mining

uhmm...before i quit in 06 (im back for 99 mining) i was thazar training str with: full dharoks zerker ring inventory had: guthans verac brassy/skirt whip zerker helm obby cape full ah infinity boots/gloves seers ring obby shield lots of cash glory had no prayer, was down to 12 hp for dharoking (not smart), and didnt switch to guthans in time. died, lost like 50m worth of stuff (prices back then). this guy picked it all up, didnt give it back (he was a jerk about it too), i quit. lol what sucks is literally like half a month later, they enstated the "one minute to pick up ur stuff before everyone could see it" rule :evil:

noob...on the 2 skills i love...hate u! u should actually train rc. the levels in rc mean nothing, its the money that is the reward. mining is for sentimental value. nevertheless, n00b!!!!! :evil:

there really isnt a age limit. its a fun game, and if u enjoy it, then keep on truckin. thats what this game is about

yea i agree...for PVP tho. plus, if u want to use DDS with rune def, u have to click twice, and that can be a hassle. claws you only click once then hit F1 (or F2) and click spec bar.

you should put mining in "masterful", because no one willingly trains mining (i am an exception, but people say somethings not quite right with me -.- ). also, theres no real monetary benefit to mining since mining rune takes forever.

mining by far. its the slowest skill to train, and the best pick (rune) is "a bronze dagger" in comparison to the dragon wc axe. i cant say much about fishing cuz a harpoon is a harpoon, but the rune pick is old fashioned. dragon pick would b the best thing released to mining since rune. also, we should have more profitable ways of training it, i mean, like fletching has yews, fishing has lobbies+, but mining has rune...and mining one rune ore is very slow, and thats y mining doesnt make you any money EFFICIENTLY. i dont know how jagex will make it more profitable without introducing a new ore...but maybe they can add a new mineable rock that will be used to many other skills so that will generate some degree of decent income and have it at like lvl 70 mining to it wont drop in price. call me insane, but i find mining fun. its relaxing, and just a real good time killer while i work my way to 99. but i agree with other posters that its not very rewarding in the monetary sense.

full focus....funny saying...not to belittle u, but in your mind, what takes more focus. mining or fm?

i like the "rc/mining/woodCHOP etc. is cheaper than fm/fletch/cook." gathering skills make you money...so u cant classify them as "cheaper", since you arent spending any money to begin with on them.

how much does it cost to get 99 fletch (including the profit)? maybe 12m? how about fm? maples are REALLY cheap...no more than 8m...i can afford that easy. it isnt ahrd to make a few mill to blow on a nooby skill. now, if u really enjoy that skill and will keep gaining exp in it (i dont see why you would for fm...but if thats ur thing) then u have earned that cape. skill capes are about getting 99 in a skill u ENJOY, not one that you can obtain easily cuz u want a cape

funny, cuz i can drop all my money on either fletch/cook/fm and get 99. but i choose not to because the 99 i want is mining.
