  1. Let me say this as a pro life person that tries to be moderate in these debates, your the reason pro life people get a bad reputation.
  2. Just to expand on what I said earlier first, Im not saying the Australian prime minister is like Hitler, just that hes using a similair tactic to push his plans(which are obviously not evil) Im not suggesting that a nonregulated economy is a good thing. The problem I have is the suggestion that putting government in charge of everything is somehow going to make the economy run better. Excuse the cliche, but if anyone is familair with the "bridge to nowhere" its a good symbol of how government handling money can turn out badly(that was pork in a bill but I think its relevant). A better example would be the recent stimulus packages in America that have managed to take tons of tax payer money and accomplish very little with it. I think we can all agree that money could have done equally as well given as checks to each American, and that it definetely could have been used better then it was by the government. I really hate the mentality that capitalism somehow causes problems, I think you will always have economic "crime" and corruption regardless of the system. What I like about a capitalist system is that you can include regulation to curb corruption while encouraging people to think of ways to make money. If theres no problem with being rich you will always have people that find ingenious business models that end up helping everyone. A pure capitalist system is of course a bad idea and will be horribly corrupt, but at least with limited capitalism working towards a goal of improvement is the ideal.
  3. yeah it makes sense, he thought it woudlnt happen so he wasnt expecting it at any time
  4. just to point out for the sake of it, morning after pills prevent a lot of problems with failed birth control. Secondly, we can make horribly stretched examples but the fact is reality is different from any theoretical model.
  5. Its always good when your thesis supports giving your party political power  Why does this genuinly remind me of Hitler? I think its something about the we are screwed but if you give me power I make it better mentality
  6. how do you get into a black hole without dying?
  7. Out of curiosity, what do you think should be the legal cut off for abortion(without medical or other exeption)? very nice post btw
  8. Were planning for an outbreak that has gotten out of control through whatever means. If the cdc handles it then the need for a plan is null but at least we were ready. Something like infection spreading through an aquifer that infects two medium sized metropolitan areas, whos citizens then wander into various small villages through nearby hills could cause an outbreak that would be impossible to contain.
  9. Not all churches are christian, I agree its not in there but Im not good versed well enough in scripture to say where that comes from.
  10. I think [bleep]es would cause less damage, though they would trap zombies if barbed. Does anyone know if basic solutions dissolve cement? If not then a moat filled with something basic could dissolve a lot of zombies, the problem is I dont know of anything besides glass that can hold bases.
  11. Be sure to include mounted turrets : and a trench full of landmines, zombies fall in then lose the ability to crawl out.
  12. this, is why there is no legal argument against gay marriage. edit--a decent amount of churches do say homosexuality is a sin
  13. I agree to disagree then to mooky--yeah higher score is better the argument was about the insane margin of victory, most points in one basket in basketball is 3 so they were at least 34 scores up.
  14. I call lookout 20/20 vision
  15. what do you think about a grounded boat of decent size, like the boats forced inland during hurricanes. I know plane would be better but Im wondering main disadvantages.
  16. theres a point where b is better then a Im fine with the coach making sure the team looks good and winning by a substantial margin, 50-0 would be fine in my opinion the problem is he won by 100-0. I guarentee noone cared about that game at the end, have you ever turned on a soccer game with a score of 12-0 and decided to watch it for the thrill of two teams playing their hardest? The problem here is the level of excess he went to with that victory, if he told his players to keep going at 50-0 its fine but when you let it get that out of hand I find it disgraceful. I'm fine with blowouts and the better team has the right to win by blowout, but there is a level where it is unsporting. sorry if I seem a little angry in that paragraph, I dont want to but I got the sense that I sound angry while writing it.
  17. agreed I dont see what leads you to believe the school is led by fundamentalist christians, if it is a private school that is supposed to be teaching ethical behavior I think firing a coach who allows that to happen(he would have known in advance the advantage he was going to have) falls within a reasonable action for the school staff to make.
  18. I still say we look into lever action rifles, great mix of moderate speed and accuracy. the idea of makeshift spears is an awesome idea, what other weapons can be made in a makeshift manner? Oh, one idea for a very useful weapon for use from a motorcycle/anyone that cant shoot. Its a weapon that was used by the plains indians of the US, it consists of a moderatly long stick with an elliptic rock fastened to the end. It was used from horses and could be swung to smash the skulls of enemies, Im thinking they could be nice mostly as easy to construct vehicle protection vehicles. I think some explosive knowledge would be nice, wouldnt want to miss a chance to bring down a bridge that zombies are using to get to us
  19. well 30 is still within the possibility of a come back (for high school) Id say 50 is better, but I agree on the actual point. My main problem here was that there is no reason or need to get a 100 point margin. Since they scored by half 59-41 it means they let up, but shouldnt they have realized when they had say a 30 point margin in the first half it was time to go third string and try to keep it in reason? Ive played in american soccer games where the other team was much better then us, after they got their 5 goal margin they would start putting in their jv players until it was an even field which is what this basketball team should have done.
  20. Tell me exactly how dyslexia would harm someone's basketball performance? Maybe this loss will make the losing team wake up and say "wow, we really suck; maybe we should practice more?" Sports are competitive, get used to it. school of 20 vs regular high school, the only way that school of 20 is going to win is if they were drafted specifcally for the best basketball playing 20 person school ever. This isnt about the fact that the better school would have won. Going into the game they knew they were going to run over the other team, they should have started 2nd or 3rd string players and had them take it easy. They still would have won by a nice margin 30-40 points, but at least the smaller school would have scored some and there wouldnt have been public outcry.
  21. This is why the world is in such bad shape (I think you may have been joking but plenty have people do think like that)
  22. you can get an average xp per hour value, it will of course only work over large values for time but thats fine if your getting a large amount of experience. For instance, lets say I have a 20 sided dice that has 5 sides with an orange on them 5 with an apple and 10 with a kiwi for each role of the dice(how do you spell singular for dice its escaping me) you have a 1/4 chance of an orange 1/4 chance of an apple and 1/2 chance of a kiwi. For the first ten roles I may get 75% kiwi 25% apple; however, if I role the die 5000 times im going to be very close to a ratio of 1/2 kiwi 1/4 apple 1/4 orange. The same applies for slayer tasks, except there are more then four possible xp/hour sides(tasks) that can come up. Another example, your driving some long distance and you arent going the same speed at all times. We can still get a value for your average speed by dividing distance by time. With slayer you could earn say 1mil xp while keeping a careful track of your time. The average you get should be very close to the real number and if averaged with other peoples good results we get a "correct" value.
  23. Why is that a disgrace? What were the girls meant to do with the entire second half, just pass the ball between each other until the end? intentionally make some bad shots, just try to maintain possession there are a few options here. If they stopped trying to run up the score early they would have been able to do something to show some decency. My school does the same thing for soccer(what world calls football), if we get up by more then 5 goals we either start playing possession or start testing different set ups or start putting jv players in. Im not saying they cant win a game by 30, 40, or even 50, but I dont see why they had to keep trying clear up to 100. The story says they had 59 points at the half so it appears they didnt slow down very much.
  24. to everyone saying this isnt a bad thing there is a difference between ensuring a good margin of victory and being a total jerk about it. A 100 point margin in basketball is a ridiculous disgrace. It would be one thing if they had won this by say 50 points but to keep scoring after there is no way the other team can even come close to catching up is pathetic. Seriously, you dont see anything wrong in winning any sport by that kind of margin? edit--just to be clear, Im not saying they had to give the other team a chance of winning, but they should have shown the respect to stop shooting after a certain point. on the actual story I believe the same thing happened in my area, but the coach quickly apologized avoiding a firing etc.. I thought the coaches statement that his girls played honorably is hilarious, its pretty easy to just stop shooting in basketball

Well, I guess you could view things that way, but realistically since we have no way of understanding quantum mechanics to that level you do have free will. Maybe everything is predecided that way; however, your still choosing to do it in the sense that you arent being told what is determined. Wow that is confusing sounding. To simplify, its too complex to say what is going to happen through quantum mechanics so we still have free will because nothing is controlling us in the literal sense.
