  1. I agree wholeheartedly with this. People here need to stop blindly following one or two people because they are "respected" or "veterans"; it's just stupid. If you agree with what they say that's alright, but when you join in their "flame parades" are do whatever they want and basically become their slave, you need to start thinking for yourself. Also, blatantly flaming people on the internet because they disagree with you or they made a mistake is stupid. Everyone has different opinions and different things to say, let them say that and stop trying to shove your opinion in their face as the right one. Everyone makes mistakes. If I decided to nitpick everyone's mistakes how stupid would I look if I made a mistake? No one's perfect, learn to live with other people's fallacies.
  2. I agree with you. Also, there are no "idiots", only people who have a different thought process or mental capacity than you. I actually respect the people on the RSOF who you would call idiots more than I respect any of you. They have the courage to speak up, questions and generate discussion. Most people who aren't classed as idiots are too stubborn to give up their position and will make personal attacks with the intention to create emotional harm. That is idiotic behavior. Please, respect your fellow 'scapers and don't talk about them like this behind their backs. If you really think they are idiots go tell them that, not me.
  3. I assume you've never been in the position where finding work is next to impossible or you physically can't work at all. Suppose some day you have a bad accident and any money you had put away goes to paying your medical bills. You're so severely injured that you are never able to work again. Would you like some of those tax dollars coming your way or are you happy being physically handicapped and begging for money on the streets? You bring up a good point, and this is another aspect of society where I support a socialistic approach. How a society cares for it's physically/mentally handicapped says a lot about its priorities. I wouldn't want to see those people on the street with no money, so I support welfare for them. On a side note, anyone who cares for someone with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, etc, is an absolute hero in my eyes. Yes, you do have a good point. Those with long-term, crippling ailments that have no cure should receive some special support, but not specifically from other people. They have little or no capacity to work and should be brought up by the one institution that's supposed to ensure all those living withing its boundaries a safe, secure lifestyle. The government. I support some type of welfare for the terminally ill, but it's not the people's, or the government's responsibility to bring up the bottom-feeders of society, especially if they're there by their own designs. I also think that certain medical bills should be paid by the institution, if any, who cause you the injury. If you get injured whilst working because of negligence of some sort, it's the workplace's responsibility to make sure you recover. For other sorts of health care, it's the government's responsibility to take care of the people living in its boundaries. The government can't expect you to just let it rule your life without it providing anything for you.
  4. With a whip you'd be lucky to get one kill per trip. You probably could make 1 kill per trip with a godsword, 2 if you're extremely lucky.
  5. TIF has been going downhill for a while... People seem to be becoming too judgmental and critical.
  6. Because I actually work, I should have to pay a portion of the money I make myself to someone who can't be assed to work on their own? Yup, that's real fair.
  7. Yes, I realize that most of the articles now are more in an editorial fashion, but they all seem to be dealing with very similar things. I mean, most of the articles now have been talking about combat balancing (or something of the sort) and issues that are based totally on opinion. Now, opinion isn't bad, but what seems to be the case now is that there is only one side of the opinion being written about. I'd like to see some articles with more factual backing, rather than pure opinion.
  8. I used to read them all. I don't do that much often anymore. The topics got dry and the authors became too opinionated.
  9. I'm not going to question your logic on doing this, and no one else should either. Everyone does what they do for a reason. Sometimes even they don't understand that reason. That's fine. Just so long as you remember that it was your choice to do that. Not the choice of anyone else. If someone is going to insult you because you made a different choice than them, just ignore them. People will be overly-critical about anything and everything. Don't get involved in their self-esteem issues or jealousy and make them turn into one of those people that goes on school-shootings. It's not worth it. Do whatever you want. No one, not even whatever higher power you might believe in has the right to question your decisions about yourself.
  10. Levels don't determine how "high" a skill is. (Oh how contradictory that sounds... ) Rather, how much you know about the skill, the tricks, the shortcuts, etc.. If you can teach someone everything, or most everything about anything then you have mastered it. If your firemaking level is only 80, but you can tell someone how to effectively firemake the most efficient way, then you have mastered it.
  11. The only thing I can think of is that someone poisoned them earlier. But that doesn't seem likely.
  12. It's not a lot, but it's a start. Congratulations and good luck moving up in the ranks.
  13. Well, combat skills are just what they are called; skills. I don't see why people would try to create a ratio to determine how high you train your skills in accordance with your combat level and then have the audacity to say or imply that someone is inferior to them because they decide to train different skills. There is no such thing as being a "skiller". There are just those who prefer to do different things. My thoughts exactly.
  14. Very creative title, huh? :) I've gotten to 100 before, but this time I intend to keep my place there and most likely go beyond. Well, since I have some bragging rights I'd just like to say that I've been beaten about 40 times or so, out of about 3200 games. Pretty impressive I like to think.
  15. Now try doing that whilst your opponent has karil's armor and subsequently tries to special you out with their dds. Magic can be used as a primary. But the fact is that its uses are very limited as a primary. You can tear through their melee attack and armor, but what happens if they use ranged? Or even put ranged armor on? I've beaten people wearing Armadyl and ranging me... Primary ancients can beat anyone if you know how to use it Seeing as I've never attempted to do that, I'm going to have to take your word that you have done that. However, how consistently can you accomplish this feat? How many times have you gone up against someone with armadyl who's ranging you and won?
  16. Fruit bats are annoying to use, but obviously they heal alot more HP. It costs alot more too. While fruit bats are more annoying to use at dks than a bunyip, you don't need to use guthan's allowing you to use the time normally spent in spawns to summon fruit instead of heal off the spynlps or however you say it. You could also use it to summon fruit whilst you are killing rex without wasting an attack, allowing you to gain food even when you are attacking rex. I use about 200-300 scrolls a trip usually which costs about 32-48k I don't see that as too much especially since the cost of runes when you are using CoG is immense. And yes, I have used both.
  17. You could even if you didn't have the sgs. Fruit bats allow me to not even have to use my guthan's when I dk. And yes, the mace is definitely worth it. (Unless you die with it and have to get it over again #-o )
  19. Magic will always be more of a secondary skill. However it is an essential secondary skill. Magic is necessary for most types of PvP; it can freeze people, lower their stats without a special attack, and can damage people back if they hit. Magic's effectiveness is more or less canceled out by the use of dragonhide, and unless you're tank maging, extremely hard to take hits while wearing armor beneficial to magic attack.
  20. I wouldn't say that they "abuse" their powers. They're just stupid and ill-informed, which makes society all the worse if those who are supposed to be "enforcers" don't even know what they're enforcing. Abusing their powers would be going about muting everybody for minor offenses. This applies to the player mods who are sub-par. I'm not generalizing all player-mods as this.
  21. Skillcapes made a great number of people want the get to 99 in certain stats that they never even wanted to touch before. A 99 skill before skillcapes was usually accompanied by a mature, respectable person, that enjoyed the skill s/he was training. After the release of skillcapes a large number of people started getting 99 skills. Which led to the common vision of the 99-skiller to be tarnished and mutilated. People would grind and grind for hours to get these cool capes and would then become irritable that they were not getting the skill up fast enough or it cost too much; which degenerated the community as a whole. People started criticizing people for not having 99 skills at certain levels or not having as many capes as them. Skillcapes became the thing which people compared others to and some people did not like leveling skills all day. These people were unfairly generalized as noobs and lazy, while anyone with a 99 cape was generalized as a no life. As I see it, the point of Runescape is to have fun. If getting 99 skill capes is fun for you, so be it. But would you even consider training those skills if there were no capes? This is another reason. Skillcapes created a huge deficit in some raw materials and a huge surplus of others. The economy went ballistic as many of the materials weren't being produced fast enough to meet demands. I can assure you, lobster or sharks would not be near as much as they are now if there were no skillcapes.
  22. Never has, never will. I'm not going to do something I don't find fun just to see benefits from it later. If I wanted that, I'd just do my homework or work for money in real life. Games are supposed to be "fun", not grindfests for weeks and weeks, and then have fun for a couple of hours before grinding again because you want something else. Whatever I do, I'd do even if I gained nothing from it. The worth of your knowledge and experience, cannot be measured by mere numbers. Sure some of the fun is seeing yourself progress through the levels or amassing more gp; but where does that get you? When you max out all the skills at 200m xp and have enough money to buy out every item on Runescape, what do you do then? Do you play minigames? Nope, no challenge. Your armadyl godsword and nearly endless supply of barrages destroy everyone in your path. Do you pk? Again, no challenge. You died and lost over 200m in gear? No matter, you have enough to last a life time. Well do you hang out with friends? What friends? You spent all your time training and grinding that you never had the chance to talk to anyone face to face, and those you did only like you for your money. Well, I guess it's time for you to quit. Of course, it would have all been worth it; if only you stopped to smell the roses and enjoyed your stay in Runescape. If there is one update that "ruined Runescape" it was skillcapes. I hate those stupid pieces of trash more than it is humanly possible to hate. If I ever get a skillcape, I will never wear it unless I need the prayer or defence bonuses. The fire cape easily beats skillcapes in all other areas. Hell, I'll probably never even buy them. I could care less if you knew I had 99 in [insert stat here] because 99 is just a number. It doesn't matter. At all. It doesn't give any advantage over 98 (except hp, construction, and to a lesser degree, agility.) Skillcapes turned the somewhat respectable skills of cooking, fletching, and firemaking into stupidities, noob skills. And then there were those people that got harder 99's just for the capes, like farming, runecrafting, and slayer. They were respected because they had hard 99 skills. If it was before skill capes, no one would've given a rat's [wagon] about their stats because they didn't care. No skill is "hard", no skill deserves respect for attaining a certain level in it. If you need a cape to make you feel like you "achieved" something. Or you think a cape will bring you respect from people; you need serious help.
  23. It's people like this that ruin fun MMO's. How do they ruin MMO's? Competition is an integral part in any game, no matter what the circumstances. These people don't ruin it; they make it better.
  24. People don't have any more right to a spot than others. I'll kill things whether or not there are people there. If someone comes to a spot I'm at, I'll never hop. Even if they're getting all the kills. I'm stubborn like that. However, if there are only a couple of monsters in the area, or I'll be using a cannon; I'll hop.
  25. Get a mud staff, some unstrung gold amulets, and 2x the amount of astrals as amulets. So for every1k amulets, you need 2k astrals. Then just set your spellbook to lunar, click the spell, and watch it go. When you're done sell your amulets to the rouge in Varrock. He'll buy them for minimum G.E. price. Any idea how much this costs? It costs about 540k per hour, or thereabouts, and gets about 140-150k xp per hour.
