  1. Trading has gone from a 100% community part of the game to 100% automated, there is simply no contact between people at all when trading in this game now. Which is a shame considering that lvling skills etc in a group isn't really popular in runescape. This is a massive change to make runescape into a solo game rather than a multiplayer game. You may as well be playing runescape solo while having another browser window open and talking to people in a chatroom.
  2. I didn't think RS was even that popular to even be given a stereotype for it's players, and even if people do think it's nerdy then why care. :?
  3. I can safely say that merchanting isn't at all going to die, it might even get better from GE based on what i've seen so far.
  4. Yes it should at around the same rate that HP does if you ask me.
  5. The system seems pretty weird, either it's run automatically so the price drops or increases depending on how low or high people are buying and selling for (which can quite possibly be abused), or it's done manually by jagex, which would take a heck of a lot of work to keep track of prices for every item. If you ask me, I would say remove it completely, let people sell what they want for however much they want, limitng the amount you can buy/sell for is plain supidity.
  6. Features are added to make the game better and you are saying it's a BAD thing? Are you kidding me? There's just no pleasing some people. :?
  7. Armadyl is quite an unpredictable sword, sometimes you can do 0 dmg on a special with it and other times you can 3-hit people 10-20 levels higher then yourself, however that will happen much less often. To be honest after using an armadyl for about a month I found it's overall DPS wasn't that much more than a whip. I think it's just a good staking sword that can quickly kill people a few times. When it comes to the cost of the sword compared to how much dmg it does, there is no point in buying it. You are most likely better off just using a whip than an AGS, or any godsword for that matter. :)
  8. I don't know anyone irl that plays rs, I have no problem with mentioning it to people thought if the subject ever arose and it'd be cool to meet other people that play. I don't understand why you'd be labelled a geek if you play a fun game. :?
  9. Why would you be sick of them making the game better for new players? :? Correct me if i'm wrong but I think they add the bulk of new content for higher levels and more experienced players, when's the last time there was a new skill or proper content added to f2p... Better exp rates for old skills are good because their are so many skills now, you have to think out of the box, only 28 players are even at max skill level and how many hundreds of thousands of people play RS a day.
  10. Both, and many other reasons. I quit world of warcraft to play RS again because it has like 100x more content than WoW, there's so many reasons.
  11. I have a completely different opinion on it, I think they are trying to make players have more interaction on a technical level rather than just speaking to eachother which is really good for the game, this is also reinforced by clan chats. I welcome these changes and anything else Jagex can think of coming up with, having party-groups like in some other games I know would be excellent too. If they are helping new players in the process then good, it's not a bad thing. One thing you touched on that I can't understand and have noticed a few other people on these forums coming off as rather elitist is that children/noobs/new players etc. are ruining RS. Firstly not all people are bad and i'm betting a very small % of people in rs go out of their way to annoy you, an even smaller % of them going out of their way to annoy you AND falling under said category. And to top it all off you're only going to see a few weird messages in chat you can easilly ignore anyway, what is the big deal?
  12. Got mine from http://leetscape.com/ .
  13. A new max level cap would be pretty cool, however they would probably have to tweak the exp rate for each level otherwise it'll start taking up to 10+ million exp for just one level. :-X I think raising the max lvl amount would be cooler than adding new skills to the game, however it seems they might not do this because of the skill capes making lvl 99 the 'goal'.
  14. Ofc it's not at all hard to adapt to a new system, but wether you're a good merchant or the worst, fact is the grand exchange will most likely make prices more stable and make it a lot harder to merchant anything so there is going to be less profit in it. EVERYONE will be more aware about prices and not only is there less chance to get conned, but much more options to buy from, people will be undercutting eachother in prices a lot.
  15. I used a d-long because 60-70 attack doesn't really take that long and i'll buy a whip then anyway which is better than a scimmy. I guess you could get the scimmy to lvl str but I think lvling str up to 70 with the d-long and using shared exp with the whip from then on would be more time-efficient than doing the whole monkey madness quest, from what i've heard it's pretty long.
  16. I think you have to accept that RS is just the kind of mmo game that 'little kids' prefer to play and not blame jagex just for trying to make the game more popular... If you want a hardcore kind of game with mass grinding and pretty mature players then there are a lot of other mmo's out there that would suit you better.
  17. I'd say a major graphics update including a change to how almost everything is designed and more would be rs3, hopefully with a downloadable version.
  18. I'm still hoping for a massive graphics upgrade, maybe give people a downloadable version of runescape, of course while still having the old version/detail available.
  19. The way I look at it RS can't be blamed at all for it, when you play a game too much and you're addicted it could be any game and is not just limited to RS, point is you would have most likely spent the same amount of time on your PC and killing your social life anyway. If I wasn't playing RS for all the time, it would have been another game, or something else. If you truely want to stop playing rs/going on the comp so much then you have to work on that and get a different hobby or something else to do.
  20. It'll depend a LOT on if the 'grand exchange' charges for having the item up for auction and/or takes a % cut out of the amount you sell it for. Merchanting will be a lot harder either way because prices will become MUCH more stable as people will keep putting up items at consistant prices.
  21. Personally I don't really mind that they changed the shops to the way they are now, in fact I thought it was a massive improvement for the game. I don't mean to speak for the majority of the community but I honestly can't see how a large amount of people would be annoyed at jagex for changing the way shops work, the only way I even found out that it had any sort of bad effect was by reading this article. So in conclusion maybe it only has a bad effect for 0.1% (if that) of the community while for the rest of us, it's an improvement. Just something to wonder. Oh and for all the people who say jagex only care about making money, answer us why they have made hardly any effort at all to make it mainstream and compete with other big titles in the market such as WoW, everquest etc. They have such a large amount of fans and players and still decide not only to keep runescape available for people with some of the worst comps out there, but to KEEP IT FREE, and they also cater to the most hardcore of runescape players as well.
  22. Nice thanks guys i'll give most of the music mentioned here a look at ingame.
  23. So believe it or not sometimes I like to listen to the ingame music that runescape has to offer instead of playing mp3's and i'm sure there's gotta be some other people out there too who do the same. However the only good tune that i've heard so far is one called baroque, which is a really nice song even for RS music. I wondered if anyone else has a favorite runescape ingame song or a list of their personal favorites that they can share so that people like me can possibly find more ingame music to listen to rather than just the same track. :) I'll most likely edit this to include the most popular ingame soundtracks. Remember tipit has a music locations guide if you want to know where to find music.
