  1. Player: I need a slayer task Duradell: Great, your new assignment is to kill 103 Steel Dragons Player: AGAIN??? You have no idea how much I want that.
  2. How do you get people to keep coming back every few weeks? How do you get them to try other areas of the game? Most people are content to play with their torva and chaotics in the wilderness, but that gets old after a while, and you can't really expect players from every style to log in to play a game like pest control. That's very true, and I realize that my original post came off as saying "why even bother having a beta outfit" which wasn't my intention. The point I meant to make is that "why are they turning it into another throwaway holiday item".
  3. because the whole point of it is to try and get feedback, at least by any numbers they collect from you doing the events, if not from posts on forums... Except I'm not talking about them giving people an incentive to beta test, I'm talking about how they passed it off like it was going to be at least somewhat exclusive to people who could get on for the 4 weekends. Jagex isn't stupid, they knew people go on holiday over the summer, and yet they enforce the unforgiving requirement of you being at your computer at least once every weekend for a month. Then, when people complain, they swoop in and save the day by promising an untold number of "make-up" events which begs the question "why not just give it to everyone who participates in the beta from the beginning?". Ok, because they want people to have an incentive to try the beta, fair enough. On the other hand, we have free Torva which does this job nicely and which I'd argue brings in more players than a cosmetic item set that now has value almost equal to that of an item given to anyone who merely logs in.
  4. Wonder why they don't just give everyone the beta outfit just for logging into the beta instead of pretending it's some big exclusive reward.
  5. Nothing I'd love more than to get a steel dragon task from Duradel, for old time's sake. I miss him :L
  6. It's the new dance craze sweeping Geilinor!
  7. The obsessive compulsive desire to get capes is what drives their entire business model, why would they want to stop that.
  8. So we make new "99s" that either are stupidly difficult to achieve or water them down so much with the goal of making them obtainable that we're in as bad a situation as we started in? In the end players will be bottlenecked at the max level. Nothing short of removing the xp limit will solve this, but making it so you have to invest hundreds of hours solely to get one of eight combat stats to 120 just so you can compete is completely ridiculous.
  9. "And God said 'let there be grinding and there was grinding' 'And God saw the grinding and it was good'"
  10. We have levels up to 99 to assign content to and 200m xp for the overachievers. 120 in all skills would both demotivate all but the most determined players and bring almost nothing to the game.
  11. Well after 100k xp into level 94 I finally got mask....then it [bleep]ing kicked me out and I lost it.
  12. 89>94 thieving post update all from plunder and still have yet to see any Black Ibis. Normal or am I just very unlucky?
  13. Are any of them actually "worth" getting now?
  14. Dammit, I went to sleep and missed the Jagex Armageddon?
  15. Even if their character was there nobody would be watching their bot be banned.
  16. Having that again would be the only way I'd play on a 2006 server. Also, does it bother anyone else how people who refer to themselves as "veterans" sound like they're claiming to have fought in Vietnam?
  17. I think if everyone who wanted a 2006 server actually got their wish and played it for a decent time they'd get bored faster then they thought. The thing with nostalgia is it's not just the game you miss, it's how you played it, your age, surroundings at the time among many other things.
  18. Hey, he didn't have a sword in the movie, nor did he run around murdering the entire palace guard...
  19. Fair enough. I think the association with Assassin's Creed was with the original in which Jerusalem and possibly Damascus both had the desert look that Al Kharid has, it was for me.
  20. Import a set of claws from live game and you'll get both. Only ones they sell in shops are main hand versions.
  21. What about "jewel" wielding?
  22. Neither game "invented" large flat tan rooftops with clotheslines going everywhere perfect for running around on, and it doesn't really matter as people aren't making a formal credit roll for a movie, they're associating something with a current work they're familiar with.
  23. Rune javelins and a chaotic crossbow with runite bolts have the same DPS. 791 damage with a 3.6 interval = 219,72 DPS. 527 damage with a 2.4 interval = 219,58 DPS. And the chaotic crossbow has 300 more hit bonus. Yes if you're auto attacking, but if you're using abilities they have the potential to be the same speed since ability cooldown isn't affected by weapon speed. I'm trying to get a sense of what will actually be viable after the update goes live, I probably won't be using dragonstone bolts for training, nevermind onyx.
  24. It's much more a historical game with fantasy elements. Definitely worth a try, Edit: Just looked at Al Kharid pics and damn, it looks almost exactly like the first Assassin's Creed, albeit the building are spaced out a bit more. Going to have to fight the urge to just scale the buildings outright.
