  1. The thing is, with millions of players, 1% is still a lot.
  2. First, I'm sad to hear you say that the quality of the times has gone downhill and, interestingly enough, it is actually talked about in TS_Stormrage's accompanying article. I was well aware that there was the possibility of fakes flying around so that's why I said that they were 'rumours' of such large amounts. At the time this was written, the day of the event, there had been no poof that any of the supposed screenshots were fake. I'm sure you can appreciate that an article has to be written earlier on in the week than Sunday afternoon. I'm afraid this is an issue with almost all publications. Also a viable solution to the problem would have been to rollback immediately, however that is obviously not viable now. And, once the money is in the game, the damage has been done. There was a window of opportunity for Jagex to reverse this but that went past very quickly. Also: only 45m? I hope you realise that the Tip.It forums are not representative of the whole Runescape population. There are a LOT more players out there that have never ever come near 45m in their entire Runescape lives. While that sort of money might be common on Tip.It - for an average player it is a lot of money and comes off as extremely unfair. Why am I having to work hard to make enough money for a set of Infinity robes when somebody just got enough money for four sets by doing absolutely nothing. As I mentioned in the article, this unfairness is what TRULY makes this a very bad update. I'd like to see your figures that more money comes in through statuettes. Jagex are trying to downplay the fact that they made a big mistake. People who know me will know it isn't common for me to criticise Jagex, but this is clearly a very big mistake that they made. Not just in terms of the economy, which isn't the most important thing here, but in terms of player trust and integrity.
  3. Blood Brothers by Papa Roach First time I heard this was on Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 XD
  4. Since you've already moved the post, I'll just lock the thread. :)
  5. I tried not to go into the specifics of what might happen to the economy because I'm *not* up on the economic state of Runescape but let me use what you said: If every member would need to have 8 pairs of boots, lets say that everyone had one pair for actual usage. Many people might have had 2 pairs, one to use as a placeholder and one for using. Then take into account that many PKers had many pairs of these. I've heard averages of 50 but hundreds, possibly thousands might be held by just one player. I know as a fact that a member here on Tip.It had 8k pairs of boots that they bought for merchanting purposes since they're an easy item to flip on the GE. I don't think it's *too* much of a stretch to think that the price changes will have an effect on the economy. EVEN if the effect only comes from players panicking thinking prices will go up, it is still caused by the boots.
  6. That was a goal! IT WAS CLEARLY A GOAL! SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIRE THAT LINESMAN!     They really need to introduce technology into this. There is so much video evidence, why can't they just take that into consideration!?!
  7. Time for a new release of the: >>>Tip.It Times!<<< When replying please make sure to clarify the article you are replying to! Thanks! If you spot any typos or mistakes in the article then please PM them to me :) Enjoy the articles!
  8. Oh wow... just when I thought I understood Angel Beats! [hide=Spoiler for last ep] Oh My God... the plot twist with Kanade's heart was... wow. I wasn't expecting that. I literally did gasp at that bit, and almost found myself crying. You could call me a romantic or just a girl... but I couldn't help it :P As for the ending I like to think that Otonashi moved on, though I'm not sure what the epilogue was alluding to. Really great series overall <3 [/hide]
  9. I pronounce it as meem, I *think* that's right.
  10. Okay. Say I can't afford the music or games - there's no possible way I would be able to buy them - what is the harm in me downloading them then? There's no loss at all to the industry the only harm is... oh wait.... there is none.
  11. For every torrent site taken down, ten more pop up. The system is become even more decentralised to the point where you don't even need trackers. The more the companies push on what they see to be the problem, the more the internet just works around it.
  12. Yes, but those who pirate consistently and efficiently won't stop. And they would be the ones doing the most damage, no? The people who hold the files and share it do (Pirate Bay), not the downloaders. From my experiences, most people don't seed (share) what they download. Plus this just shows that the efficient ones won't stop. It's like banning beer or pornography, it will continue forever. So instead of banning it completely and crying to Obama, media companies should try to draw consumers away from piracy. It's like competition that can never go away so: when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Do you have any idea as to how file sharing and p2p works? NO torrent sites hold ANY illegal material on their servers, they simply hold torrent files and mange trackers. The 'illegal' files are transferred from one computer to another without the use of any website's server - it's Peer to peer. This is why many torrent sites are still able to operate because they don't host anything illegal on their sites. It could be questioned if they can be prosecuted for ASSISTING copyright infringement. In which case they'd have to sue Google and every other search engine out there - completely ridiculous (although I recently heard that companies have tried to do this). I think a very important thing to bring into this is the recently resolved Viacom vs Google case where Viacom wanted to sue Google for millions because they allow copyrighted material on YouTube. Even though YouTube actively remove copyrighted material if they are made aware of it by rights holders, they wanted to FORCE YouTube & Google to pay up for uploaded content that is simply out of their control. They can't watch every minute of video uploaded to YouTube - it would be physically impossible.
  13. True. It's nice to get something here in Europe for once too :P
  14. I read that as 'download every car' because I read the post above yours and it sorta merged into this XD But yeah. I'm not going to rationalise it as trying to 'fight against capitalism' - most people just file share because they can't afford the things for themselves. What is the true harm in someone getting something that they wouldn't have bought anyway? The whole anime industry in the west owes it's thanks to the copyright infringement of people who upload and subtitle episodes on the internet. If people didn't copyright infringe to do this then many, many anime would never see the light of day in the west since a lot of animes only get licensed and distributed worldwide when a fanbase has been established. Can't establish a fanbase if nobody can see the work. This is just an example.
  15. I'm really expecting a rollback, now, since there's WAY too much money gone into the system from these.
  16. Store music/films on an external hard drive Douse hard drive in petrol Explode hard drive ??? Profit :D Or even, just throwing it in the bin when the cops come and bust your door down would work :P
  17. Sorry, this thread was posted first :)

  19. I'd say keep it, you won't really get any money for it these days and it's always nice to keep old games. I still have Crystal and the original advance I played it on, I'm never giving those babies up <3
  20. http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Jirachi_to_be_available_to_European_Generation_IV_games_via_Wi-Fi They're distributing a Jirachi over Wi-fi next, along with the Night Sky's Edge route. Nice
  21. There is actually no conclusive proof that piracy has hurt the music/media industries profits by significant amounts. A lot of their 'evidence' is biased and used just to lobby Governments and show people "LOOK WE CAN'T AFFORD TEN NEW CARS EACH IF YOU POOR PEOPLE DON'T START PAYING UP!!" The thing is a lot of the 'music industry' are just executives and people with no talent. The actual artists and musicians that we support and like won't get a lot of the money we pay for their album. It'll go to the fat cat sat at the top of their music industry empire. To me, it would be *much* better to download an album and then, realising that you like the band, go to a concert and buy merchandise. These things are where the real people that deserve the money get their money from. It is pretty much a fact that the MPAA and RIAA are basically dangling money under US politicians in an effort to get what they want. It's ridiculous that people like that could influence the political system so much. Also:
  22. You might be one of the unlucky people that is online regularly at 10am GMT which, some of you more astute and perceptive members might have noticed, when the Tip.It forums go down for maintenance each day. Usually this is only 5 minutes or so but it does happen rather often that the forums stay down for perhaps the full day. Yet, we have wonderful Techie admins that deal with this for us and get the forums back up asap :) I do have to admit that I use RS Wikia sometimes because it is rather useful for random information. I never use it for 'guides' but if I want to check up something a bit obscure then I do often hop over there. Other fansites I've never used, and probably never will. I'm sure that they're all brilliant in their own ways and we at Tip.It have a lot of respect for our fansite peers. I'd also just like to remind people that if this thread is to stay alive then there's to be *no* site bashing of RuneHQ or anyone.

Amazon free shipping is great. Things usually come in like 3-4 days :D I've not ordered anything off Amazon in a while, now I think about it.
  24. True. If anything it's more an attempt at fear mongering: FILE SHARE AND WE'LL COME AND ARREST YOU AND KILL YOUR PUPPIES BECAUSE THAT'S HOW BAD FILE SHARING IS!! There's relatively few ways to stop file sharing over P2P networks and no matter how much they'll try to come up with a solution the pirates will be two steps ahead of them. Maybe one day the industry will realise that if they want to reduce piracy they need to embrace the internet, not try to control it, to remove DRM and to reduce prices to levels people can actually afford.
  25. For now, all I have to say is [bleep] This [cabbage]. I thought the Digital Economy Bill here in the UK was bad enough.... I'll probably make more of a post later, sufficed to say that I think this is utterly ridiculous and a disgusting idea.
