  1. I'm pretty sure you're wrong on that one. I agree. Unless it got nerfed recently. It only adds 40 damage to a hit though, not to a miss.
  2. Didn't realize they were that slow, probably about 950 logs then (@325 xp each for magics before gloves/ring because of the bonfire boost).
  3. Provided you know you're not taking the most efficient method, nobody can really argue with your choice :P. I think the both the xp/hr and gp/hr increases are very small, but the beaver is probably still better. It doesn't require as much banking, too :P.
  4. QFC for new thread: [qfc]75-76-311-63927012[/qfc] Thanks, updated :).
  5. Getting 80 prayer at the Ectofungus... yes, POH altars were released then :wall:. But I have 17k ectotokens now :/.
  6. Black knives should be a bit better on things like hellhounds, gargoyles and such. But since steels, irons and even dark beasts and abyssals have fair defence, you may want to use Karil's crossbow instead as it has about 60 higher ranged attack than the best dart while being only 1 tick slower. Black knives/broad bolts are the budget option, but I'd recommend runite bolts or dragon darts (~108% and ~110% dps compared to the cheaper versions respectively, ignoring accuracy bonus).
  7. Got 95 agility and 97 craft, craft a while ago now. 98 in about 5 days I think.
  8. Bonfires are something like 1100 logs/hr for about 330k xp/hr with mage logs, 220k with yews? Last I heard, curlies are only 200k/hr without adze, up to 300k with, and slightly dependant on woodcutting level as well.
  9. Herblore tends to be a little more expensive than runecrafting. There's no great gp/hr with runecrafting but you should be able to get 500k-1m/hr doing double astrals or maybe deaths/bloods?
  10. Void benefits from many switches, so if you can, switch between deflector/Ahrim's top and defender/void top along with helmet, amulet and weapon. It's annoying as hell but +24 (or more) mage attack gain is great.
  11. Yew bonfires are about as fast and much more costly than Jadinko lair firemaking w/o adze. Adze bumps Jadinko firemaking up to the level of magic bonfires. "Tryhard" manual firemaking is about 1.5-2x faster than plain bonfires I think. Out of the two kinds of logs, yew is better if you can merchant. Only if you have un-solvable trouble with making money should you burn maples.
  12. Their mage def is not really low, over 50% accuracy but not as accurate as maxed rapier I think - don't forget you can't use a mage-boosting prayer because of turmoil. So I'm pretty sure on ragefires. Tassets aren't worth the switch imo, and bcp would be inferior to steads anyway (tassets inferior to ring/cape/bcp switch). +6 Strength is about 1 kill per hour by pure dps gain assuming perfect switches, but you can't bring 2 pray pots, cutting trip length down a bit. You have space for up to 22 potions + extra switches besides the core switches (fury/ddef/rapier/darklight) and scrolls + lantern. Giving up 2 spaces for switches basically cuts trip length by 5-10%. As for tanking versus flashing, tanking is crude and inconsistent. In Virtus, you can easily lose more health than you gain over the course of 10-15 seconds, which is annoying if you have to overload or a demon spawns or something. It also uses more prayer, making it more expensive and cutting trip length (20% higher average prayer drain!). As for rapier vs. cls, I've not tested this, but in my experience the highest kph has always been reported with rapier. Tds don't have that much defence, the reason mage doesn't hit so well has to do more with the lack of mage-boosting prayers (and no seer's (i)/god cape/virtus mask, that costs you 24 mage attack right there).
  13. People block gargs because they are common and one of the tasks worth not doing. It's not so much an expression of how much they suck as a task, they're better than desert/jungle strykes for example, just that they are common and sub-par. Hellhounds are really for pure xp/hr, they are twice as fast as gargs or something. It's also possible task frequencies are affected by slayer level which might explain getting more jungle strykes than spirit mages. ^This, I think they are a bit over 50k xp/hr when maxed, maybe 55k.
  14. Use the Tip.it guide, it's up-to-date :). @Hedge: Bandos switch isn't really worth it imo. Ragefire > dragon (+9 mage attack > +4 strength) though steads may be equal. SoA > pps but much harder to use, but cls/maul isn't better than rapier. Don't mage with defender, use mage's book switch. SS tanking is pretty useless too, ss flash is much safer.
  15. I feel like I should reiterate this. It's the only viable way to train range. Make money until you can afford 43 prayer and cannonballs/chins. Using iron knives anywhere is a terrible idea. Wow, linear playstyle, much? What's the point in RS weaponry if everyone just uses 1 type of weapon? Jagex should already remove those? (Or finally start nerfing that cannon & chin xp to make it more comparable to other methods). Are you saying we should be using lower xp/hr methods just because the game is designed in a way that leaves only one best method? Design issues really don't come into this, the best way to train ranged is through cannoning/steel titaning right now, and that's what matters to the OP.
  16. Gano leggins have 1 less mage attack than Ahrim's, the top has only +2 extra but costs 2.7m per 20 hours or so.
  17. That's not true. Primal plate is much, much more comfortable in almost every situation. Prom plate is also better than hood for the most part (afaik). Gorg is sort of borderline...
  18. Thanks, added. Do you get the colours from copying the form?
  19. Saradomin sword always does more damage on waterfiends than a Zamorakian spear. +7 strength > +5 attack.
  20. With +7 mage level, sol, augury, ice barrage: Arcstream: Primary target: 300 * 1.3 * 1.21 = 471 Secondary targets: 300 each Average damage/cast (100% accuracy, 9 targets) = (2400+471)/2 = 1435.5 +20 prayer (Soul Wars cape, Akrisae's hood, arcane spirit shield), 10 * 30/50 prayer drain = 6 points/second Fury: Primary target: 300 * 1.15 * 1.21 = 417 Secondary targets: 300 each Average damage/cast (100% accuracy, 9 targets) = (2400+417)/2 = 1408.5 +25 prayer, 10 * 30/55 prayer drain = 5,4545 (recurring) points/second. With renewals, no flasks, you get 14-15 ppots + 3 renewals per hour with arcstream, about 13 ppots + 3 renewals per hour with fury. You also need wolper scrolls, antipoison, 3 slots for runes and a teleport would be nice (but you can easily use tokkul-zo). So out of the 23 spaces left for pots, you can fill about 85 or 90 minutes worth, but you need a second wolper pouch, so make that 80 or 85 minutes/trip. You save one bank trip every 1360 minutes using fury over arcstream. So you get the choice of saving, say, 4 minutes, every 1360 minutes, or getting (1435.5*.2+52)/(1408.5*.2+52) = 1.6% higher xp/hr. Over 1360 minutes, 1.6% is 21 minutes worth. So no, fury isn't better, but the difference isn't incredible. Edit: Akrisae's hood has +4 prayer, cba redoing calcs but there you go :P.
  21. There's the atrocious rogue gloves with +15 strength. nvm it's not crucible. max should still be 520ish though with goliaths. Together with max equipment, you get 104 strength bonus. Max hit is (104+64)/64 * effective strength level. That should be (118*1.23)+9+3+8 = 165. Max hit 547... as far as I can tell. With 5 less str (ddef instead of dfs & no imbued) you get 530 max.
  22. Eh, I would take void over Ahrim's, yes. But it's not 100% proven it's better or anything, it's just more convenient imo (if you die etc.).
  23. Basically this, but with a soul wars cape for added staying power. Virtus and cstaff have very bad xp/hr increases considering how much they cost. Ahrim's + Akrisae's hood is usually better. Hedgehog is also right that cost probably is an issue, so you should look into some efficient methods (which happen to be highly profitable as well).
  24. Thanks, added :).
  25. Long time no update because not much happened. Steadily crafting & agilitizing through Games, about 200k to 97 and 350k to 95 there. Woodcutting in spare time - 2m to 99 -.-. @Seeker: Thanks, I'll use that when I feel like kilning (which admittedly is not often). Also, anyone want to play D&D sometime?
