  1. So this will be an analysis of a few(not all skills) The hope is to put some perspective on how much time/money it takes to train a skill to 99 I'm going to keep this short so i am going to be taking ALOT of liberties, and they are going to be listed as follows: [hide=]The following skills will not be analyzed because they're much too difficult to get good estimates on Attack Strength Defense Hitpoints Ranged Magic Summoning Slayer Farming Runecrafting Assume 500k gp/hour income Next everything will be taken from the perspective of someone who makes 500k gp/hour obviously someone who makes MORE money will have an easier time with say, herblore Only use common training methods Oh hey, your data is inaccurate, i know how to earn 300k xp/hour with construction while earning 4 mil gp/hour using this glitch! or hey i know this awesome training spot where i can get 150k str xp/hour i don't want to hear it I am only using common training methods, like i said i want to keep this short THE NUMBERS ARE VERY APPROXIMATE sry guys i dont have the time to spend taking measurements but if you know accurate numbers please do contribute! Runecrafting ommitted Due to the nature of the 500k gp/hour assumption, runecrafting must be omitted on the way to 99, most of a runecrafter's time will be spent crafting double natures during which time he will be making 1000k gp/hour thus voiding the original 500k gp/hour assumption, we run into some problems... like a potentially negative time/money ratio rating... The numbers do not account for Pain Hunter, easier than cooking? no wai! well if you were a robot that would be true the numbers are cold hearted they do not care for the fact that cooking can be AFK'ed and hunter cannot nor do they care about the fact that it can be painful finding a good chin world I often take high level training methods this analysis is about training to 99 sure, you might need lvl 74 construction to do dungeon doors but lvls 74 -> 99 still make up the bulk of uctionthe xp to 99 construction OMFG WHY IS HERBLORE THAT HIGH cuz the income rate is taken to 500k gp/hour a very substantial population of RS earns more than 500k gp/hour but for someone who makes only 500k gp/hour, an expensive skill like herblore can be very very painful remember all the numbers are taken from the perspective of a 500k gp/hour income Assume that you buy/sell all your resources technically because of opportunity costs this doesnt really make a difference but some people don't get opportunity costs, so lets just leave it at this[/hide] Analysis [hide=]Sample calculation: Lets take for example, Firemaking you can burn say ~1k maple logs per hour, and with flame gloves and fire ring that comes out to roughly 140k xp and 36k gp lost in that hour during that hour you paid the opportunity cost of the 500k gp you COULD have earned in the end you paid 536k gp for that 140k xp therefore you get a time/money factor of ~3.83 gp/xp Data: (Alot of this is only accurate to one or two significant figures, so just bear with it) Agility: assume 50k xp/hour with no gain or loss Fishing: Barbarian fly fishing, assume 50k xp/hour with 160k's worth of fish from your granite lobster, caviar, and the equivalent time/money factor * agility + str + cooking xp (note that i calculated monkfish, sharks, lobsters as well, unless you use swordfish gloves or etc they dont measure up to barbarian fly) Fletching: Yew longbow stringing, assume 1000 yew longbows strung/hour at current market prices that comes out to : 75k xp/hour with 25k profit/hour Construction: oak dungeon doors, with a butler and oak planks 300k xp/hour, 2250k gp loss/hour Herblore: Saradomin brews, made from toadflax, vials of water, and crushed birds nests, 114k xp and 1200k gp loss/hour Cooking: assuming sharks with a 5% burn rate, 200k xp/hour with 7k gp loss/hour Hunter: assume 400 red chins caught per hour, 106k xp + 256k profit/hour Smithing: assume 800 addy platebodies smithed/hour, 250k xp/hour + 1400k gp loss/hour mining: assume granite mining at 65k xp/hour and no profit or gem mining at 40k xp/hour and 200k profit/hour, the two numbers come out to be near equivalent at 500k gp/hour profit. I dont have numbers for gold ores Thieving: assume pyramid plunder at lvl 91, 200k xp/hour and neglible profit/loss Firemaking: explained above prayer: 1000 bones per hour, 252k xp/hour, 1850k gp loss/hour Woodcutting: 350 yew logs cut per hour, ~ 60k xp/hour and 150k profit/hour[/hide] old data [hide=]The numbers: Ratios are listed the units of gp/xp 10.00 Agility 6.80 Fishing 6.33 Fletching 9.17 Construction 14.91 Herblore 2.54 Cooking 2.30 Hunter 7.60 Smithing 4.36 Crafting 7.69 Mining 2.50 Thieving 3.83 Firemaking 9.33 Prayer 5.83 Woodcutting what does this translate to on the way to 99? (note that this counts the time it takes to earn money for a skill, it also counts profit earned as negative time) 130 mil gp or 260 hours [Agility] 88 mil gp or 177 hours [Fishing] 82 mil or 165 hours [Fletching] 119 mil or 238 hours [Construction] 194 mil or 388 hours [Herblore] 33 mil or 66 hours [Cooking] 30 mil or 60 hours [Hunter] 99 mil or 198 hours [smithing] 57 mil or 114 hours [Crafting] 100 mil or 200 hours [Mining] 33 mil or 65 hours [Thieving] 50 mil or 100 hours [Firemaking] 121 mil or 243 hours [Prayer] 76 mil or 152 hours [Woodcutting] remember that these numbers are very approximate prayer may be 0.16 higher than construction but in the end that's within the error bound of the data I hope this may prove to be useful fodder in your future (NO THIS SKILL IS HARDER) debates :[/hide]
  2. these gloves only last somewhere between 30-60 minutes though from what ive heard right? and they dont protect over anything
  3. 10k an hour is bs, the majority of tasks assigned by duradel dont go under 15k xp/hour if you know how to train right also slayer trains other skills and generally doesnt cost money outside of the initial investment in gear. Slayer points and drops basically allow you to break even while cannoning every other task and most importantly it's FUN mining and runecrafting are faster than slayer technically but they dont train att/str/def/hp/ranged simultaneously and for most people are the complete opposite
  4. there are 3 skills that are definitely too uncommon on the hiscores list by my Construction: it has the same pricetag as prayer but actually trains faster and less tediously (less right clicking and potentially accidental bone burying) very few people have it because it's alot more useless than 99 prayer Considering the miniscule amount of total xp required to get front page with this skill, im surprised more people havent gotten it yet crafting: most low level players dont realize yet that sapphire necklaces make good profit with the rogue trader and otherwise air battlestaffs are the next best thing at only ~ 2gp/xp definitely is one of the cheaper skills out there smithing: also not as expensive/slow to 99 as people realize it once you can superheat rune ores you can make profit while training mage and smithing once you reach addy platebodies 200k+ xp/hour is attainable, at almost half the price of say prayer/construction however most players dont reach the 80+'s where smithing becomes easy, and thus they view 99 smithing as a rather difficult skill
  5. sell it for third age? honestly even if you spent all day making junk you could probably loan the claws for 24 hours for most if not all the junk you made :? kinda defeats the purpose of selling it with junk right? but i hear buying harpoons/big nets @ piscatoris bank/shop is pretty fast junk with a good junk made/cash spent ratio idk if it would be nearly fast enough though =s chef delight brewing is always a fast source of junk too, but you can only do that once a day also if you're just hell bent on selling it and don't mind a poor junk/cash ratio you could always do something like buy talon beast pouches on ge for Min price and make em into scrolls, pouch = 3.6k, 10 scrolls = 4.7k, but it's not really a great option either
  6. this will definitely be nerfed, maybe not completely removed, but nerfed it is very well possible to make ~3 mil or even more/hour with construction that blows even double natures completely out of the water not only that the profit is purely inflationary and construction, while it takes ~ 15 mil to reach the initial lvl 81, it can be trained to 90-96 construction for marble magic wardrobes relatively easily (90-95 if you dont mind using tea/crystal saws) assuming it takes 30 hours to earn the 15 mil and it takes 10 hours to train to lvl 81 then an additional 30 hours to train from 81 -> 90 using gilded flatpacks(which conveniently earns you 20 mil profit) that's a total of what, 70 hours to gain a money maker comparable or even better than double natures? 40 hours if you already have the 15 mil banked, since you will earn it back (and more) by the end anyways
  7. runts dont count, you must kill "ice troll male" or "ice troll female"
  8. until the amount of flatpacks in GE vanishes ... btw does he buy noted (I supose not) because if not its quite the running to the nearest bank .. no must be unnoted and i was referring to make your own not buying them off ge granted that would work and it's not so bad, even with the running a good xp rate is possible, havent timed it but it seems to be on the order of 100k cons xp/hour
  9. fremmy lvl 3 reward is AMAZING advisor ghrim buys ALL flatpack gear for GE Mid price that means certain flatpacks (specifically the gilded cape rack) make 8k profit per flatpack the ability to profit off construction! that's a good reward for a diary wouldn't you say?
  10. east one didnt work either, then i discovered i needed to "use arctic pine -> pyre site" not just "construct pyre site"
  11. ive burned several mangled bones with arctic pine and it doesnt seem to be working any ideas? im gonna keep trying
  12. Thats not right, Brad would definitely not get the most exp because he can only wield rune. I doubt bill would get more exp than bob because his attack is only 60 compared to bobs 80. His max hit may be a little higher but he'll be hitting a lot less. way to defile a perfectly good post I'm sure you knew he meant "if they were all using the same gear" or something along those lines people need to stop spamming their own information and give madman's post a read
  13. basically to sum the article/RSOF thread you provided, a player wants a balance of accuracy and max hit to get a good damage rate if anybody of you have taken high school calculus, you should be familiar with the concept of the maximum area of a rectangle of limited perimeter is a square granted you cant really define accuracy and max hit in the same units, you are definitely looking for a certain golden ratio but here's the deal, the defense level on the enemy factors into your accuracy what you get is that the higher the enemy's defense level(and armor), the higher an attack level you would desire the lower their defense, the higher a strength level you would desire that's why duelist pures back in the day had high attack/defense, because every serious duelist had high defense in the day they needed a high attack level simply to compensate meanwhile pkers generally have low defense, so other pkers dont need a high attack level have a sufficient accuracy
  14. that is true, didnt think of that what do you think the other areas would be? ardougne area i would say probably necklace/amulet as a symbol of wealth no idea what morytania would be, but perhaps a sickle? that would seem suiting i guess if boots go to relleka then helmet would go to the catherby/seers area that or helm = relleka and boot = catherby/seers perhaps if they do a diary for a cape perhaps wilderness = cape, because of all the wilderness capes out there? there should still be a few leftover areas even after all that
  15. map locations seems a bit random, i am inclined to go by shops varrock = platebody shop, so platebody falador = shield shop, so shields relleka = helmet shop so helmet (barbarian village is technically the helmet shop but relleka is still known for its helms) alkarid/desert = platelegs karamja: only area where the general shops sell gloves of course lumbridge is the loophole in this argument, although you can argue that the the jewelry shop in port sarim might overlap with the lumbridge area
  16. if u want data on granite lobsters i consistently got about 22 fish, ~ 10 of them being sharks 12 swordfish barbarian fishing u get less if u afk too much and ur char forgets to fish when the fishing spot moves but average value is pretty consistently 15k per granite lobster pouch in fish
  17. hopefully this will help relieve the dragon platebody crash does this imply that dclaw drop rate was unaffected?
  18. what clothing pieces do you think should be used? frankly i would love to see a pair of achievement diary pants, haha, that would just make me laugh
  19. oh haha, thanks, i was saving that xp for later :D
  20. i found this picture on another forum any idea how this cutscene was obtained?
  21. same as mystic only the top and bottom each give an additional +2 prayer
  22. anybody try using ice gloves on the lit dragon forge? i tried using a mith bar on it but it said the heat would probably cause the bar to melt before i could do any to it
