that and I think potion boosts and prayer boosts seem to play a role too. Sometimes I would have a friend turn off turmoil and immediately see rangers start piling him. So perhaps it's your invisible defense rating, that factors in level, prayer bonus, and defensive armor stats.

no, both nex and zaros were defeated long before the godswords even existed. it was luck, or fate according to the banker @ nex, that the battle over the godsword took place overtop the prison of Nex. I, never really had much trouble with prayer due to super prayer potions. Remember, divine -> more damage reduced-> less brewing, less super restores, more super prayer potions, and more time spent firing your weapon. The majority of prayer reduction comes from Nex's attacks. Not from the prayer drain of say, rigour. I mean, ultimately what boils down, is that you can store more prayer restoration in an inventory spot, than healing from a brew. (ignoring LP boost affecting healing tho, not sure if that's been 100% confirmed tho)

Nex Strategy Discussion
There is still the problem that the figure is per 800 shots, not an hour at nex, also that we have no idea how firemaking level affects the blowup rate, it's not likely the real figures are accurate for either of us, but that the real figure is somewhere between the two, not to mention the fact that hand cannons have dropped in price lately. Blatantly using 600k an hour is BS. 600k gp/hour was the figure i gave him for endless firing at 99 fm. lets assume 1/800 explosion rate at say, 99 fm, which is what my personal data indicates. Then assume 190 gp handcannon shot, and 250k gp hand cannons. and 1200 shots fired per hour if done nonstop. that translates to 603k gp/hour for endless firing. i mean sure, assuming endless firing isnt ideal because nex hops around so much. but ultimately linearly related to the actual expenditure rate. and since we don't know how fast people actually spend ammo at Nex, we'll use the number 600k gp/hour as it can, for the moment, be used constructively so long as it is acknowledged to be the rate for endless firing. maybe the point you're trying to make is that handcannons cost 500 gp a shot and we shouldnt imply that through 600k gp/hour but either way this is trivial. the number we're trying to communicate is 500 gp a shot. Let's not blow this up any further.

he got the 600k gp/hour figure from me. And my personal experience with handcannons, I have blown handcannons at a rate over 2x the number you gave me. and i've blown about 20 handcannons at this point, so I don't consider my data pool trivial either. granted im 97 fm and ur... 99 i think?

whose managed to pull that off yet? btw right now I'm inclined to advocate diamond bolt, but blood bolts for the early part of the soulsplit phase, and the blood phase (except against reavers) im pretty sure blood bolts are better DPS than diamond bolts. since a blood spec is essentially an over 2x damage spec. ud need a pretty hefty damage and accuracy negation to be better than 2x damage. granted diamond bolts wont leech ur health hence id recommend it for durations of nex fights where dps is not as important.

Still, any chaotic C bow setup should work better, unless there's something about this bow I don't know about. ignoring bolt specs, handcannon owns every other item in dps even in low accuracy scenarios. even if the handcannon is hitting with 1% accuracy on some monster. the extra accuracy on say, a chaotic crossbow + unholy book. will NEVER boost the accuracy enough to justify and of course, remember handcannon has like, 2x longer range than crossbows. which is important at nex. I fletched myself 300 ruby bolts and im beginning to test those. Perhaps ill do diamond bolts at a later date. ppl told me 33% spec rate. but I pulled off about 15 specs at duel arena. and of that data pool, under 20% of the accurate hits were specs. so 33% spec rate seems like too high a number.

Nex Strategy Discussion
the aversion i have to crossbows is the short range. nex runs around a lot. the main benefit of the handcannon is the long range. On rapid, I believe the handcannon's range is longer than the distance you need to run to avoid the Nex has marked you for sacrifice So it's possible to be ranging Nex, she marks you for sacrifice, then you immediately get the message that you ran away far enough from Nex to escape her, even though you did not move. Simply because you were already far enough away. that's really really really long range, and definitely shouldn't be underestimated for a boss that likes to run around as much as Nex. now lets do a DPS comparison between void + Chaotic Crossbow + divine + Diamond bolts vs Void handcannon lets first ignore the diamond spec effect because we don't know how exactly it works. now lets assume below 50% accuracy on both the handcannon and diamond bolts ignoring spec. 284k DPS coefficient for ruby bolts (e) ignoring spec 387k DPS coefficient for ruby bolts (e) including spec assuming 1/3 chance of spec with seers 4 that's 288k DPS coefficient for diamond bolts (e) ignoring spec 311k DPS coefficient for handcannon. but just keep in mind that

I agree, I mostly see the ability to kill a second nex in 1 trip, and the ~10 mins it takes to get KC to be the primary limitations. perhaps we'll see mass cannoning of zaros for lootshare KC. but regardless I don't see the kill rate ever going past 6 per hour.
-
10-01-11 God Wars - The Ancient Prison
it takes 10 mins for zaros KC. it takes 12-20 mins for a kill, varying greatly depending on skill and # of players. for a team of 5 pro players, we're talking about a kill every half hour. I just can't see Nex being profitable unless the items rise a ridiculous amount, or there are tricks to Nexing that we simply do not know of. bleh, i feel pretty pessimistic but i really should save my thoughts and wait a week to see how the metagame progresses.

i only have a fuzzy idea of what her attack styles are Virus - hits 170 constantly, your character coughs. Shadow attack - you need to run away from where you and your allies are standing, or you will get hit There is no escape - she runs to center, dealing damage if she runs past you. Thunderous grab - She grabs you, you can't prayer right away. You cannot move. Syphon - Summons 2 reavers, kill them ASAP or she heals Marked you for sacrifice - She targets you, you get a red message in your chatbox, you are told to run away.

i think it's based on the weapon ur wielding. i wore karil top but mages still attacked. and 30k LP is disappointing. 750 combat levels all in constitution a 20k LP nex would have been much more lethal. only 251 combat levels worth of atk/str/def/mage/range but fast attack rate. everybody's making out the nex battle like a battle of attrition and proper brewing (and of course dealing with the specs) and grr my perm team went thru the trouble of setting up a Nex team last night, and they're nowhere to be found lol.

Regenration rates
normally you regen 1 lp per 10 game ticks (0.6 seconds = 1 game tick) which translates to 10 lp per minute. with rapid renewal, you regen 1 lp per 2 game ticks. regen brace makes you regen 2 lp at a time. so regen brace = 2 lp every 10 game ticks regen brace + rapid renewal = 2 lp every 2 game ticks.

Slayer Task Log
Although my data won't give you percentages, it can contribute towards finding a ratio between tasks, which is still useful. You can extrapolate more ratios from tasks I don't do by comparing them to other tasks in the data set they come in. I could, but I don't consider myself well versed enough in statistics to know how to do what you're describing. because I know what I'm doing right now is mathematically wrong, I'm just assuming that 15-30% is small enough a margin for it to not matter.
-
Slayer Task Log
yeah sorry I'm not interested in data if skipped tasks are not listed :P I don't mind if you they're skipped, but they should still be logged. Ideally the data collectors should block no tasks, but that isn't very reasonable. blocking 5 tasks already removes about 15-30% of the tasks that one would normally expect to receive. Which probably creates more bias than is normally acceptable. toss in skipped tasks not being logged and that's definitely too much :P.

Aggression Vs. Accuracy
that is such a bad way of thinking of it :P Is it false? moreso a matter of being a vague. it could be true. But it would be far too difficult to prove it to be true, assuming it is true.

Aggression Vs. Accuracy
+X% average damage increase vs +X% max accuracy roll increase damage is always better ignoring rounding error scenarios. the question is what % increase +3 str lvls will give you and what % increase +3 atk lvls will give you as well. Obviously if you're lvl 99 strength, and lvl 3 attack +3 attack would almost +100% your max accuracy roll. whereas +3 strength would only give you about +3% average damage. equipment bonuses also makes a difference. but almost always, aggressive attack style is better even if your accuracy is below 50%

Slayer Task Log
Thanks guys, I'll see what other data I can scrounge up too :D. sadly zarfot doesn't have info on desert and jungle strykewyrms. I'll plug em into my data log spreadsheet as I find more of it. I'll just assume that blocked tasks don't affect the appearance rate of tasks that aren't blocked. anyways should be interesting.

Slayer Task Log
Why am I doing this? To get a better idea of what tasks to block. My hypothesis is that certain tasks are assigned with different frequencies. I remember seeing a guide on the RSOF which is longer there, that did have such a log. And there were rather large discrepancies in the frequencies of certain monsters. And the log had on the order of 20-50 tasks done of each monster. So it was pretty nontrivial. I'm looking for lvl 93+ slayers that are interested in providing a log of their slayer tasks. I'm not interested in drops or anything. Just in which tasks you receive. I do not need to know how many of a monster you are assigned in each task other. so I'm looking for something like this: Task # 1 - Terrordogs Task # 2 - Ice Strykewyrm Task # 3 - Abyssal demons you would include in the task list, tasks that you cancel with 30 slayer points. and of course I'd like to know which tasks you have on your blocked list. anyways im 99 slayer so there's not too much of a point for me to collect data myself. But I could, but the quantity of data I want is on the order of at least 2 players going from 93 -> 99 slayer with kuradal. but anyways. This shouldn't take too much time. A few seconds every task, or half an hour. And perhaps this information could put a new perspective on which tasks are worth blocking.

blood necklace special ability does not trigger aggro. you can, for example, sit next to the mages @ thunderous and heal off them. but in all honestly you probably won't notice the blood necklace's effect much :P
