  1. great point, i'll drink some sara brews to reduce my max hit to oblivion, and punch some hellhounds or something.
  2. both, at the same time. (PS I thought you were trolling, because I sure am now)
  3. Yeah, that's a glitch, I reported it to Jagex about 13 years ago, but they never fix glitches that I report.
  4. the thing is, intro economics are mandatory for graduation many universities now. As a freshman seminar-type course. Most, if not all all US state funded universities require intro level economics courses or the equivalent. In my university, ALL majors are required to learn some economics, not just business majors. Even arts, humanities, sciences. It's all mandatory. A few universities don't require them. Like Harvard for example. But that's usually because higher level universities tend to give more freedom of electives than say, a state funded university. But these universities can usually get by with assuming that you're smart enough to not need such a thing. And the majority of students go to college nowadays. Granted a lot of RS players haven't gone to college yet. And I understand that. Plenty don't even live in america, and I'm speaking from a 100% US perspective. But my expectation is, that given the opportunity, most people should be able to learn some intro level economics. (because none of the economics principles employed on TIF are beyond intro level) and given the number of efficiency prods on the TIF forums the opportunities are abound. So when I see economic ignorance, I really only draw 2 conclusions: a) You're too lazy to learn it b) You're too stupid to complete an intro level requirement for graduation at most American state universities.
  5. is it possible anymore? damage control update supposedly raised our min hit to 1. as opposed to previously where it was possible to hit an accurate 0. If anybody can confirm offhand, that'd be cool. if not, it'd also be cool if you could keep and eye out for me. was it possible to hit 40 damage with fero ring prior to damage control update? is it still possible now? thanks
  6. you cannot get more than 12 ranks an hour. but, for example, if you get 12 ranks in 30 minutes. (in which case you will stop earning ranks for the next 30 mins) you can chill for the next 30 mins before you come back to get 12 more ranks.
  7. I'd estimate 1/600 explosion rate at 99 FM 1/400 at 75 ish FM
  8. you shouldn't beat around the bush. if it's a bump you want, tis a bump you shall receive.
  9. the thing with celestial cat staff is that it's 286 max hit for air surge with celestial cat vs 308 max hit for fire surge with emp fire. The difference is ultimately 1.077x higher. The thing is if you use a celestial cat, you don't go out of your way to make fire runes. 7.7% isn't huge. but if there is down time, make a few fire runes on an RC altar you find while GDing. Monsters will drop water/earth/fire runes you can utilize as well. 10 fire surges with emp fire staff is 3080 max damage 7 air surges and 3 fire surges with celestial cat staff is 3094 max damage. That's how I like to think of it. You only need enough down time/fire rune drops to fire surge 3 out of every 10 magic spells. In order to justify a celestial cat staff over an emp fire. celestial cat is also better on runebound since airsurge is lower mage lvl to fire.
  10. you need to complete floor 17 again, after reaching 35 dg.
  11. with a void setup, which is what I presume you use. DPS calculations indicate that ccbow will not be more than 1.17x as accurate than handcannon IF the ccbow has under 50% accuracy on TD's if the ccbow has higher than 50% accuracy on td's, then the accuracy difference will be less than 1.17x if the accuracy is ~63% on td's, the accuracy difference will actually be about 1.08x That's really not noticeably enough to be huge. If you actually really thought it was noticeable, it's just your mind is just playing tricks on you. if you wear karils/dhide, the difference is even smaller due the inherent range bonus on that gear.
  12. Laws save you a bit of time and effort at the begining. Surgebox takes an inv space and is annoying to switch to for a few attacks. Most of the time while keying you aren't killing things, so the box rarely does much. I just find the box kinda annoying. Also makes me feel like I have to spend another few seconds to make a fire staff. I do have a box bound, might switch to laws when 77. Dungeoneering's a lot a bout conditioning. in fact a lot of runescape is. steel titan's took me a while to get used to DGing without armor + with hexhunter took me a while to get used to as well. The inventory cramp of having 1 needle, 1 thread, and as many as 3-5 leather hides in my inventory at a given time also bothered me too. but for all the above, I got used to it. And then it stopped bothering me. Like if I found something irritating in RS, my instinct isn't that oh it must obviously suck. From experience, what's more likely the case is that I'm not yet adjusted to it yet. Give it a month and it just becomes a non-issue.
  13. zaryte bow is the best weapon for its relatively cheap repair costs. It's just ironic for the most expensive weapon's good point to be cheap to fire.
  14. Plate is probably better for the keyer, but I can't see why everyone else wouldn't like it better then plate. yeah I key all our floors now, so he's better off with neck. also with new bind slot coming soon, neck's an even sweeter choice.
  15. well laws obviously are the best if u key, ALL the time. but most high level keyers I know prefer surgebox. Because they don't always key all the time.
  16. looks to me like a "smack the efficiency clown with the rubber chicken of reality" event to me drunkscape = faster than golvkellius I was so pro that floor
  17. You do realize that there is a portal at home tele that teles you to the ggs right but sometimes u need to build altars/farm patches there. KQ pax likes to build farm patches, and he has to rip those out every time he needs to tele it's not ideal.
  18. I think extremes should be allowed in the wildy for reasons of intuition. If a new gamer joins RS, his initial thought won't be (oh extremes can't be used in the wildy) If he somehow manages to get to 99 herblore, and drinks an extreme in the wildy, he'll probably wonder why it isnt boosting him as much) (which begs the question of what happens if u drink an extreme outside the wildy THEN step inside) anyways it's just an inelegant solution to a problem. I think extreme potions should just be available to everybody, not just those with high herblore. Of course I still like the idea of there being a benefit to 99 herblore. I could imagine say a potion shop that sells extremes (still untradeable between players) And it would just have a very low daily stock, (maybe doesn't even sell certain extreme pots like super prayer and super antifire) and be very expensive (expensive enough that making the potions yourself from scratch is cheaper) that way you wouldn't have enough stock to say, train slayer with the potions all day long. And you'd still have the benefit of saving money and earning xp for making the potions yourself. of course any other solution that makes extreme potions publicly available but retains a nontrivial benefit(that is not combat related) for high herbalists is fine by me.
  19. don't forget to crack these effigies in a random event free zone :P
  20. So they spend 1 month writing a bit of code. 1 month waiting for the code to come back from QA/graphics/etc what do they do in the second month, code something else right? presumably if they average X pieces of code per month, they're going to output 12X pieces of code per year. Even if they have to wait 1 month for that code to come back from Q/A that or they actually are just twiddling their thumbs every other month.
  21. I'm sorry Riemis. I've never lived life in your shoes. So I can't say this with certainty. But I'm pretty confident that you're stupid.
  22. Steering is a part of driving a car, and I can steer, therefore I can drive! You don't know what effort is put in making a game just because you have coding experience... This is an event like any other, just organized by a few JaGeX employees. Why should it be better as the ones by players? I mean sure, I'll humor your analogy. I can steer, doesn't mean I can drive. I can code, doesn't mean I can code a video game. But I CAN estimate how long it takes to finish a project. You don't need to drive a car to have a rough idea of how long it takes to drive from the east coast to the west. as to your other question. because, as Jagex employees, they have access to more resources and abilities than the players. they have the ability to make it better than the ones by players. They just fail, and don't.
  23. wait, just because I don't work for Jagex doesn't mean I don't have coding experience. And no, I don't know how they organize their staff. But I do know that about 50 of the 400 ish jagex employees are game devs, as Jagex has released that information. And I know order of magnitude, of how long updates SHOULD take. it's quite possible that it's not the fault of an individual developer but bad infrastructure altogether. But either way it's not a good thing. I mean honestly Danq. If Jagex told you that the Hati wolf update took 1 game dev 1.4 years to make, would you believe them? To just assume that we can't make order of magnitude assumptions on how long updates should take, is simply naive.
  24. Then what about... Easter? Christmas? Halloween? Thanksgiving? Recent Hati Wolf thing? Cryptic Clue Fest? Faruqs Tools? Little less effort, but still planned: First day of spring Jagex Clan Cup RuneScape 10th Anniversary how many of those are community events? Holiday events and hati wolf are kinda done out of the self interest of the players. Faruq's tools was just poorly implemented. It woulda been so much better if they implemented the tools in every day items. instead of making you go out to alkarid or keep a few of these items in your bank. the jagex clan cup and 10th anniversary events were kinda jokes. player driven events have (The player hosted clan FFA with divine for trade price event was much more popular than any event Jagex has ever hosted) I have to agree. People think Jagex does nothing special compared to other companies? Psh, such a fallacy. Maybe compared to Blizzard, but they have a huge budget which means they can dedicate many more staff, as well as not having many staff tied up in weekly updates who can be diverted to making new content for an event. I promise you, go to a majority of MMO's and they won't even have a community team or staff members doing anything in the game. Many of them who do try at events do things very similar to Runescape, but very very rarely anything more. Jagex are doing their best to play with the community within their budget and timeframes. If they didn't think they were doing as good as they can, they would try something else. Just because an event isn't for you, doesn't mean it isn't for others. Considering a majority of this forum's voices (but not readers) are higher level players who will rarely get involved in events which don't give rewards, you can't expect a positive reaction here. yes RS is less staffed than blizzard (~400 employees vs ~4600 employees) but bottom line is Jagex' work is still unimpressive. of the 400 employees, ~50 are developers. We get 3 updates a month, 36 updates a year. Thus, each update takes 1 dev an average of 1.4 years to produce. That is a complete joke. I mean a few updates I can understand, it taking more than 1 dev, more than 1.4 years to produce. Dungeoneering, and WGS to make (but remember Jagex's dungeoneering team is only about 4 game devs) I can understand Nomad's requiem taking a single game dev on the order of 1.4 years to produce But the vast majority quests require trivial amounts of coding. Hati wolf? Extreme potions? the amount of coding that goes into those two updates shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
