POLL: What are your plans or goals for 2011?
Grimy_Bunyip replied to Speedyshel's topic in General Discussion
+ upgrade white to blue p hat max skills + gp stack for me. -
They're being relocated though aren't they? along with revenants and etc. i mean i don't tihnk it's likely but for all we know. the new source of PVP statuettes could be a bigger source than BH and PVP worlds.
-
is that 1/10 before or after nerf? because i recall they nerfed cout summons from caskets at some point.
-
you should consider a 10 HP tank with prayer/mage/def lvls they're actually useful, and rumor is they spawn the same level enemies in dungeon as a 3 combat pure. ^^ I should really test this rumor myself but havent gotten around to it
-
dungeoneering is a nightmare with solo and with randomers. you *need* to make a perm team. Find reliable people, add them, and DG with them. if you can't do that, you're screwed.
-
on the order of 10% more dps than whip i think?
-
endless combat degrades chaotic weapons at 66k gp/hour in single combat? if you can isolate yourself to 2 monkeys, then sure you could keep it at about 133k gp/hour? remember a platypus can be used as a safespot. So that could force the monkeys to attack you 1 at a time, but im not sure it's worth not having a familiar to help with your xp rate. definitely go with void, as it does stack with salves. you might also want to consider something that drops effigies.

I think it was fixing problems like how making magic pots gave you extra lant unfs instead of extra potato cacti. I'm yet to check this, though, so... that seems likely, as well as sara brews giving toadflax unf

what potions did scroll of cleansing affect? anybody know yet?

yeah that's what I thought. It's possible that t11 rangers are using arrows that are only using prom arrows, not sag though. or that the number is wholly independent. But i think this is unlikely as the numbers are somewhat strange. if we assume promethium arrows, we get lvl 117 ranged. which would make much more sense. because if we assume that the hexhunter gives +1 range level for every mage level the target has and we assume tier 11 mages have lvl 117 mage, then we get the *exact* max hit at 99 ranged with sniper ring. and I think this is elegant and makes sense. And presumably tier 11 rangers and mages have comparable stats as they are both 114 combat (mages do have lvl 119 hitpoints as opposed to 118 though) So the case seems to be that tier 11 rangers do not use sagittarian arrows, but promethium if we assume promethium, then they have lvl 110-113 defense. as opposed to 130-133. Additionally, since we do notice much greater accuracy, it may be additionally possible that tier 11 rangers/mages/warriors are actually using tier 10 gear even though they are depicted with tier 11 gear.
-
not the point :P but im fairly confident the max hit is its ranged max hit.

i expected better quest writing from Mod John A... it didn't help that there were no tangible rewards to speak of either.

So i'll keep this short, I monster examined a lvl 114 forgotten ranger. 1180 LP 202 Max hits this translates to lvl 118 constitution, 107 range, and 130-133 defense. so after plugging into dps calculations, this translates to: 90% accuracy on 99 def + shadow silk hood 53% accuracy on 99 def + shadow silk hood + primal platebody 34% accuracy on 99 def + shadow silk hood + primal platebody + primal platelegs now lets also assume lvl 132 def on this ranger, and see how prom 2h vs primal 2h vs primal 2h + blood neck fare accuracy wise. this would translate to 41% accuracy with prom 2h 44% with primal 2h and 46% with primal 2h + blood neck. but this is just theory, the accuracy of 2h on lvl 114 rangers seems somewhat suspect. Do i really only hit 41% of the time? haven't really dged in a while. anyways just some idle calculations.

it was added with while guthix sleeps

Dung ring? What do I need to do? Help.
Grimy_Bunyip replied to Vezon Dash's topic in Help and Advice
remember sniper ring requires long-range, not rapid. So 50% chance of max hit translates to about 1.5x damage increase the thing is, Rapid is +1 speed. shortbows are 7 speed on rapid, 6 on long range. That's 1.33x1.2 = 1.6x dps Longbows are 6 speed on rapid, 5 on long range. That's 1.25x1.2 = 1.5x dps so for longbows sniper and desperado are equal dps at tier 10. Secondly, sniper ring scales quicker than desperado. Which means that for longbows, even if tier 10 sniper ring = tier 10 desperado. Tier 9 sniper ring < tier 10 desperado Remember tier 1 desperado is +11% damage, translating to 1.3875x on longbows, 1.48x on shortbows. tier 1 sniper = 1.2x damage. The sniper starts off at slower dps at lower tiers, and doesn't catch up until tier 10. So sniper ring is always equal or lesser dps. It is never better. In fact there's more overkill loss which is bad for non bosses. Only benefit is ammo conservation. so longstory short desperado is 1.48x to 1.6x dps compared to un-ringed longrange mode for shortbows desperado is 1.3875x to 1.5x dps compared to un-ringed longrange mode for longbows sniper is only 1.2x to 1.5x dps compared to un-ringed longrange mode as for maging hope/dreadnaut, you can afford to log out right before the boss. It's not like you respawn in home teleport. as for your gate, you usually need your gatestone for safespotting hope devourer/dreadnaut. Unless you get a lucky spawn (in the case of hope) not really any bosses that are commonly maged. as for using spells to clear rooms, 125 spells should be plenty. You shouldn't have so many mosnters that you can't just smack with melee to great effect. -
Dung ring? What do I need to do? Help.

Wow....your luck with brutes really sucks. I have that much accuracy slashing them..... perhaps warped brutes are slightly different from the abandons counterpart, but yes I did have that kind of accuracy on them with a spear. regardless, firesurge at 100% accuracy vs primal spear at 100% accuracy with tier 10 blitzer, and no boots/gauntlets/magic damage bonus deal equal dps. and magic does hit more accurately on brutes -

why is sniper better for necrolord Some people are under the impression that sniper ring guarantees at least 50% of your hits will do damage. But that's false, as the sniper ring doesn't do that. Go try ranging a pickaxe with sniper ring and a shortbow. You'll hit like 5% of the time. and why is blazer better than blitzer on dread/hope? They both give up to 25% increased DPS. but blitzer has less overkill loss. sniper and blazer conserve ammo a bit better than the desperado/blitzer rings, but i can't see why else they would be better. the two rings are also better for GS tricking but if you need to resort to that, you might wanna beef up your team's combat skills. only reason i might see blazer being better is that the small hits might stack with leech prayers. In which case you could leech a boss dry of defense really quick. But i'm not positive that's the case. I can't see any other reason blazer would be better than sniper other than for ammo conservation (which is silly since logging out and back in restocks your celestial surgebox ammo) and gs tricking. as for ammo, i rarely have problems. -

brutes are weak to stab, but u'll still only have ~60% accuracy on a maxed brute with max stats and primal spear. So they're better to mage. hellhounds and guard dogs don't have so much defense that stab is noticeably better than crush on hellhounds and slash on guard dogs. the accuracy difference on the latter definitely isnt worth a substantial decrease in DPS due to lack of berserker ring. ignoring turmoil, fire surge on blitzer is comparable DPS to a primal 2H on berserker ring. more if you actually get a staff with higher than 0-10% damage bonus. so magic is a no brainer for brutes. -

runescape works on a D&D dice roll accuracy system, most likely. In D&D dice roll accuracy systems, an equal % increase in average damage per hit will always increase your average damage output more than an equal % increase in your accuracy rolls. Therefore tactician ring sucks and there do not exist scenarios where it should be used. The berserker ring is the way to go. Berserker doesn't work with the longsword's stab attacks. That's why it's fail and no one should use it. Some monsters are weaker to stab than slash/crush. But these monsters are weak to magic for the most part. only exception might be dragons. I highly recommend 2h + celestial surgebox for these reasons. And don't listen to Azeem. I've read him give advice twice on dungeoneering thus far. and so far all of his advice has been pretty bad. He's sub 100 DG, which is too low for any good DG clans to accept you. So he probably hasn't done any floors with competent players yet. This is all true, but there is one thing to consider. If you find yourself in a perm team, having one or two people with a good stabbing weapon is a good idea, but in that case, you'd use the rapier, which the berserker ring is better with that as well anyways since it has both stab and slash on agressive. For a main weapon, the 2h is beter, the battle axe and spear being acceptable. You wouldn't really need stabbing weapons if everybody brings mage along. And you should have 1-2 hexhunter owners for the dragons, and of course necrolords. mage kills brutes faster than any stabbing weapon afterall. Same for demons. stab kills dragons faster than Hex I believe. but is there anything else? I used to think 1 stabber is nice, but not so much anymore. Due to surgeboxes. What left is there that is weak to stab? -

mod chris L did and I think the Hati wolf is just Jagex's way of getting newbies up to speed on runescape combat (since that's a huge amount of the content in runescape, especially with dungeoneering + the incoming frozen door update now) sorta like cataclysm with WOW and big bang for maple story.
-
Jagex's graphics department is always very busy. First they were dedicated to dungeoneering. now it seems jagex used them on the frozen GWD door. the dev making the dwarf quest probably wasn't given many graphics artists to help with his quest. but then again, this isn't the final quest in the series. I'm sure jagex will update when the GM dwarf quest comes out.

Again, I agree that some things can be subjective. However, when Zaros' army primarily consists of creatures that i.e. must eat people to survive (vampires), then it becomes difficult to argue that it's simply a conflict of geography. One potentially plausible way to reconcile these differing viewpoints would be if Zaros were the Runescape god of monsters. Then it would make sense that he would support those creatures who eat humans, while others like Saradomin oppose them. zaros also built shining cities according to azzanadra, i don't think the type of followers he had is enough to label him as good or evil.

I keep one in my bank because it makes me feel special <3 oh and i wear it to LRC now and then for the extra defense :P

if it's a 30% increase in magic level towards accuracy, then it'd be better than mystic. elite Void also has prayer bonus so that's a plus. but it'd be hard to say what exactly void mage does, since it only affects accuracy. The KB is wrong about void range's max hit. i wouldn't be surprised if it were wrong about the mage set's accuracy.
