  1. 'I want you all to stonewall it, let them plead the Fifth Amendment, cover-up, or anything else, if it'll save it, save the plan.' - Richard Nixon (on the Watergate cover up) I bet Mod MMG is sitting behind his desk saying the same thing. The whole thing that annoys about this update (besides the sheer stupidity of it) is that Jagex doesn't just fess up about it. They messed up, they are only human, but using ridiculous logic, stupid statistics, and just avoiding the problem makes me mad. Some of the logic they use to defend the update is so ridiculous it makes me wonder, how stupid does Jagex think we are? Thats my 2 cents.
  2. Furthermore many of them were dropping before the update and now are going up very steep. Of course this begs the question, is this directly the boot update, or merchanters? Other than the dragon boots price I feel the rest are merchants.
  3. Uhhh, Jagex gave us bogus percentages that we can work with. So best case scenario is only 85 billion GP. Still anything over 85 billion GP is speculation, and the impact it will have on the economy is still only speculation. Regardless my main point still stands.
  4. I just read through quite a few posts that say that this update won't or will cause massive inflation. Really, we have no idea, everyone is on here throwing out numbers and calculations made with guessed numbers. The real problem with this update isn't how much inflation this update will cause(only time will tell)- but that it could have been easily avoided and/or fixed by Jagex. But instead they chose to defend their failure with arguments that look like swiss cheese, and by banning players that speak out- further escalating the problem. If they admitted they were wrong and started to fix the problem they player base would be certainly be mad- but not up in arms like they are now. On a side note: Anyone find a decent pair of welfare boots to pk in?
  5. I have no idea where your getting your facts but I'd say 80% (being conservative) of all edge pkers used climbers. Furthermore, because climbers were unbuyable on the GE with the price cap they had, people were forced to buy them from Tenzing. Now most pkers don't like hopping worlds and teleing to burthrope after every death- so they buy more than one pair at a time. I would assume 27 of them because Tenzing had a stock of 30? and they were so cheap (they would just fill up their inv.). So a good amount of people (the pkers) probably had 10+ pairs. I know I had 30 in my bank.
  6. I feel like this is yet another "broken" part of the game that Jagex failed to address in their improvement of existing content year. Their are so many parts of this game that need to be updated to bring them up to speed with the modern game. D spears and left halfs are a perfect example of this (along with the KQ, chaos elemental, unfinished quest series, etc.) I know exactly what your talking about though, the idea that besides exp and the average drops theres that slight chance of getting something really good/valuable. Its one of the reasons I loved training at armored zombies before I got my champions scroll.
  7. Anyone want to place bets on how long its gonna take his friend "John" to lose all his money + the void set? I's say 2 weeks. The problem with someone who buys/gets an account thats a lot higher combat than the account they had before is that they don't know what to do with it. They end up going to KQ with full void and a godsword while skulled and they use lobbies as food and no prayer pots or teles.
  8. I agree with this completely. That is the whole point of Runescape and business in general. You don't make a game that has already been done 100 times. I disagree that business in general is like that. Look at call of duty- its basically the same game in different times/places and with different enemies. Look at all of the boy bands from the 90's- again they were all the same and they made millions. Look at McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendie's. Its so much cheaper to take an existing product and make it seem different than to make a brand new one. I also feel like Runescape started off completely different than other MMORPG's, mainly WOW, and is slowly becoming more like the others. Not that its the same, but it seems like Runescape has been losing what makes it unique and that the newer updates are very WOW like. On Topic: Do people in the lobby contribute to the # of people online? Because if they do then I would think that 140k would be low for the summer.
  9. I completely disagree with this article. 1. castle wars is not an old car thats falling apart like the author said, castle wars has been around for years and is still going strong. And thats despite the fact that it had no rewards (decorative wasn't useful, everyone knows that). At most it needed a tune up to make it a bit more modern. 2. Castle wars is still a game thats not played for rewards, but for fun. Thats why the reward armour is only useful inside the game. Furthermore, the highest end armour is to reward people who are really dedicated to the game- you don't NEED to get it so stop complaining about how many tickets you need for it, it makes you sound like an [wagon]. If you don't like castle wars enough to play that many games then you don't deserve the armour. 3.you say that it isn't even good- 25% increase in damage is way better than any other armour gives, you trade defense for offence. You also say that the potions are the best part of the upgrade but that its bias to melee. Most people I speak to say they are the worst. Why? because you have to spend 2 points on them. So you must win every game to just break even on tickets. And the potions in castle wars aren't bias to melee, its just thats the way potions are in all of runescape. 4. making teams even by moving people around in game is the stupidest suggestion I''ve ever seen in my life. What if I want to play with my friends or clan? If I'm winning and I get moved to the losing team I'd be mad. What if I was the only one to score for my team and I got switched, now my scores count against me? Hell no. I agree that flag holding can be a problem, but thats about it P.S. did anyone actually look at his suggestions before they put this article up?
  10. Magic does not own range at all. Maybe you were saying that in the videos magic was hitting higher and more consistent than his range? That doesn’t mean its better, it means that either: a- the combat triangle actually works because mage SHOULD do better vs. melee armour than range b- maxed mage + a necklace that takes hours to get actually gives you an advantage over people with worse gear If an equally matched ranger and mage fight the ranger will win guaranteed. Even if the ranger is slightly lower in levels/gear he will probably win. And as to people saying that range is underpowered compared to mage? How come rangers can use melee gear to tank and still hit consistently but if a mage does that he splashes? How come a mage has to risk millions to hit into the 40’s where as a ranger can risk less than 200k and hit 50’s (d-bolts)? How come the max hit with mage is only in the 50’s but range can hit a 98 (d bow spec)? How come nobody pk’s with only mage yet plenty of people pk with only range? Its because Mage isn’t overpowered, and range isn’t underpowered (IMO its overpowered). And FYI these videos you watched are of incredible pkers using their best clips- not the ones where they splash like crazy and the guy runs away. Its like saying “OMG cave horrors are OP because you can make millions off them” after watching a black mask drop video showing 50+ drops. What about the thousands of other worthless drops?
  11. Estimated profit = Droprate * value shouldn't that be: (value * droprate) - (cost per kill * droprate) and to be more accurate you can calculate cost per kill: cost of supplies per kill - non-rare drops price per kill with non-rare drops price being: value * droprate The non-rare drops really change your $/hr when at DK's
  12. I think they just figured you hold a sword with your right hand, so you hold a bow with your right hand. They never thought about the fact that you use your string hand to pull the string rather than hold the bow.
  13. It would work if players were compensated, but I'm not sure if all minigame histories are recorded into player accounts. They don't have it recorded. The number of games you have played (for highscores and the capes) is the same number as the number of tickets you had in your bank at the time of the update. So any tickets spent on armour in your POH wasn't counted. I personally have 550+ tickets (after I sold the CW armour in my house) but it only shows I've played 378 games (the # of tickets in my bank at the time of the update). They also don't have a record of the most flags/kills- you have to do it after the update to get the capes.
  14. It would certainly make stunning a lot cheaper... I might actually be able to get 94 mage finally. Of course that is if people do craft souls (I wonder how profitable they would be)
  15. I wonder if the new monster will have a requirement like needing chaotic weapons to deal damage to it. It just seems like a dungeoneering lvl requirement it to sconventional for such a non-conventional skill.
  16. My question is who reached out to who? If Jagex went to Disney that cant be good, but if Disney came to Jagex with the idea then its not as bad. I also wonder what kind of money Disney is paying for this advertisement (also interesting that its over memorial day weekend).
  17. I don't get why people even 'like' the old armour, or anything old in general. I can understand the nostalgic feelings people may have for certain things like old dance emote and stuff, but something as plain and generic-looking as the CW armour? Shaped like your standard metal armour, with colour schemes that makes no sense? I'll take the new design over the old anytime soon. If you think the color schemes made no sense your wrong- lvl 2 went amazing with a trimmed def cape and lvl 1 went amazing with a trimmed agility cape. I think they should have allowed you to have a choice in either the new or old style armour. Besides I feel like this new armour has too much of a dungeoneering feel to it.
  18. Well isn't prayer bonus not a linear reduction in prayer drain- so 30 prayer bonus isn't 3x as good as 10 prayer bonus, its more like 2.5x better. This way the halos are separate and have the same effect no matter what your prayer bonus is. Has anyone done research on how much slower prayer drains with the halos, and if prayer bonus effects it?
  19. I think its a bad idea because of all the problems it would cause would far outweigh the benefits. People would riot, inflation would be insane (chessy018 has $50 Bil+ in santas for example), and the economy for all high end/ junk-traded items would go crazy. However if this did happen, your plan for trade-able, wearable rares should be changed. They should be replaced for GP (like you stated) and then anyone who was around for the original event should get a new non-trade-able rare. This way they have the same function as holiday items do today, to show how long you have been playing the game (not to show that you got lucky from a monster drop like in your plan).
  20. Jagex spends a lot of time to make special banners like that, so they should keep it up for more than 2 weeks. If they didn't it would be a waste of time and money.
  21. The only thing that would be hard for Jagex to control would be in-game insider trading. The only way to 100% prevent this would be to not allow the beta testers to play the game while testing. Of course they could just threaten to remove anyone who insider trades from the beta program and even temp-ban their account. Seeing as it would be extremely easy to detect someone buying 20mil worth of dragon bones right before a prayer update, that would cut down on most problems.
  22. It depends on how much time you want to put into it. A range tank would take a lot less time (you would keep 44 or 52 prayer, 95 gives no advantage, costs 150mil+, and takes a lot of time) while a barrows pker would take much more time (assuming you get 95 prayer). It also depends on what type of pking you like more range, or melee. If you chose the range tank you can only range, mage, and range/mage pk. If you chose the barrows pker you can melee, range (not as effective as a tank obv.), mage, hybrid, and tribrid.
  23. I think 70 prayer is the most important thing you can do now. I think that 99 attack isn't what you want because it will push you up into where you will be able to get attacked by maxed players in PVP. I'm surprised that you don't have 70 prayer all ready, because the major offensive advantage of having a 70 def pure over a rune pure is piety. As for attack; you can chose to stay 70, or get 75,78,80. 75 would be for a godsword, 78 for non-corrupt VLS and SWH, and 80 for accuracy a rounded number. If you decide that you don't mind being attacked by 120+ players in PVP worlds then go for 90/99 attack. On a side-note, If you get piety before training attack, armored zombies are a great place to power-train (80k exp/hr) while still making a decent profit.
  24. Well vengeance is a must, and lunars isn't too hard so get that first. You should PK in a +1 BH world and use full black d hide, glory, snakeskin boots, accumulator, ring of recoil, sharks for food, and you can use a sara brew+restore pot for defence with added hp, along with a super anti and a ranging pot. Use a rune crossbow with diamond/rune bolts and switch to dragon bolts (e) for the KO. Depending on how much $ you have, you should use either a DFS(also protects you from d bolt specs) with an archer helm or a torags helm with a granite shield. You will protect the DFS or torags helm. If you get good you can have a zammy book/wooden shield and a bronze helm in your inventory that you can equip to lower your defence bonus when you vengeance. This will make it so your opponent is more likely to damage you, triggering your vengeance at the same time you shoot him
