6th May 2009 - Bounty Hunter Wilderness-only PvP
While it still does not measure up to the old wildy, I think a sincere effort was made to do so, and it is about as close as we can get to not having major credit card liability without restructuring the entire game. The drop potential mechanics are still nonsensical, but I've found that I have a chance of making a good amount of cash, or at least breaking even, without having to do bizarre tricks. I'm actually glad there is no grand exchange in these worlds, maybe an in-world market will develop where I can regularly get items and not have to worry about a merch clan deciding to buy out an item that day. Also very nice to have a world where that failed system isn't present, just wish they would take it out of every other world too.

I </3 Price Manipulators
Yes it does. There are more and more merch clans every day. Eventually, a large percentage of items will be being merched. The GE did not change the people in the community, it just forced them to accept a new system. The same greedy guy who would walk into the wilderness with all of his valubles to get his ultra low priced whip, only to lose everything, is now joining a merch clan, only to get ripped off. Only difference is that then, only the origional "victim" paid for his mistake, and now everyone does.

Well said. I was trying to think of a way to articulate it, but that hits the nail on the head.

Lol. The GE is designed to make trades easier, which it does. Apparently it does its job, because people rarely trade the old fashioned way nowadays. Yes, price manipulation might be a nuisance, but in general, people like the GE. No [developmentally delayed] conspiracy theories from your hand will change that. Sorry, you failed. People don't trade the "old fashoined" way because you have to accept GE price anyway. In the time period during November-December 2007 where you could choose the GE and get the joke price or just trade and get the real price, a large minority, and possibly a majority ignored the GE. These aren't conspiracies, these are facts. Two minutes an any merchanting chat will clearly show how easy it is to manipulate G.E prices. There are dozens of online forums and websites dedicated to manipulating GE prices.

Sounds like the pre-ge market. Maybe in your imagination, but the only thing that clans could control were phats and other rares. But if you disagree, then please provide me with a detailed account of a Pre-Ge clan buying every single limpwurt Root for sale in the entrie game. Do the same for anti-fire pots, blue dragon scales, all high value herb seeds, and in general, anything over 10k. At the end of the day, pre-ge the only way you could get ripped off is if you didn't spend 10 seconds doing research, or you weren't paying attention. Now you are essentially required to participate in daily scams.

Well, for one, Omali knows what Omali's talking about. For two, you're like the biggest nerdiest runescape troll I have ever seen. And, for the Pro G.E'ers, clans of 5 people, if they have 50M each, can go around and manipulate the GE easily. It's not hard with a bit of money. But it wasnt hard for people to just trick people into buyin something worth 100gp for 1M gp. Nor was it hard to lure people into the wilderness like you probably did to get YOUR income. Omali: When someone disagrees with you, that isn't Trolling. You need to re-read the rules. Number two, we are posting on a message board dedicated to Runescape. That is about as nerdy as it gets, and your post count is higher than mine. Now, to the relevant message: Scamming one person did not raise the generally accepted market price of any given item. There is no way that 15 people could corner the market like that back then on such widely used items. If you did a reasonable amount of checking before you bought an item, you would not be scammed. With the G.E, a relatively small number of people can control the prices of dozens of items, and force everyone to pay unreasonable prices.

I </3 Price Manipulators
It's all the G.E. The GE is worse than the worst scammer ever was, It forces EVERYONE into complying with a giant scam. The G.E is a complete failure and disaster.

OMFG Wild DOGS
Slow xp? Decent xp, actually. Few drops? Maybe, but decent crimsons Can't be cannoned? Oh yes you can. Wild dogs? Only drawback, unless you're over 126 High competition? Not as high as Kalphites or Metals. 2 world hops usually do it. No bank? Doesn't matter. If you're using Duradel you won't NEED to bank on just about every task. When I slay, I never bank after I start a task, and I always do fine. Only exceptions are Waterfiends and Mithril Dragons (sometimes). Very slow xp.They are Nechs without the drops. Awful. Everything that gives you more than 10 crims an hour is considered good. There are at least half a dozen monsters that beat them by a mile. I guess if you want others taking your kills, you can cannon them. Wild Dogs arre not a major problem on other tasks. They are a problem that makes them ery slow. 1) Incorrect. They are pretty good xp, I think around 50k-60k xp per hour. Nechs are FAR lower than that, but do come with better drops. So what? A monster that comes with a high requirement and is hard to kill gives better drops than one that has no requirement and is easy to kill? Is there something wrong with that? 2) 10 crims an hour is terrible. I'd place the number at 40-50. I can vouch for getting that many crimsons and hour 3) I'll split this into 2 points ----a) But that's everywhere. You must agree it's worth cannoning dagannoth, right? Well people can steal your kills there too. Are you saying you should NEVER cannon? ----B) You obviously do not know much about the cannon at all. I'll divide this into another 2 points --------i) First, what are you talking about? It's single combat, so you could go into a safespot. This way you could range the demons, and the cannon would treat it as multicombat and hit everything, demons and dogs. If the cannon is attacking something, other people can't attack that same monster in singlecombat, regardless if you are directly attacking it or not. --------ii) No safespot at greaters. You would just place the cannon so it double hits whatever you are attacking. At least halves the time for the task. 4) I agree wild dogs makes them a problem. That's why many people recommend against greaters before 127. However, it does NOT make them "very slow", since you can get pretty HIGH xp there once aggression is over. 1.)Your xp rate is a blatant lie. I won't even discuss this any futher, I know people who do Slayer, I do slayer, I have killed greaters and the number simply isn't true. If greaters were better than Mutated Bloodvelds, no one would ever skip them for any reason. Greaters are 35k, max. 2.)Rock Lobsters, Waterfiends, Dagannoths, Black D's, and Nechs are all better. 3.) You will be firing balls at wild dogs. In addition, greater demons have no drops other than mediocre crimsons and a very rare rune item drop. You will be taking a complete loss. Your personal character's attacking does make a difference and you will have to slowly range them with a C' bow. No piety, and you still face major competition. I'm afraid you're missing the point entirely, and are misinformed. 1) This guide: viewtopic.php?f=180&t=588556 Has greaters listed as 54k melee xp per hour. I can confirm getting close to that with my stats. And remember that's 54k while using Guthans (slower xp, you can get faster w/ bunyip), no super set, no black mask, and no superhuman strength. Kick in those and you can get 60k EASILY. 2) We aren't discussing if greaters are good for charms or not. Hell, they're terrible if you only want charms. We're discussing if they have good drops or not. Rock lobseters, waterfiends, black demons, and nechs are more crimsons, but I'm not sure Dagannoths do. To be fair, you did leave out Dust Devils from your list. However, if you list charm rates of all Duradel's tasks, greaters are NEAR THE TOP. That means they have good drops, since they have one of the best crimson drop rates in the game, just not THE best. To reiterate, I'm not saying that greaters are awesome crimson droppers and that makes them a good task. I'm saying their drop rate is decent (which is the work I used when I first posted), and makes them a not-bad task. 3) You've missed the point. Let me make myself clear, in order to cannon in Brimhaven, you need to set up your cannon and attack a greater. This way the cannon ONLY hits the Greater since it's single combat and you are in direct combat with it. THAT at least halves the task time. I only said the other point (the one about other people not being able to steal kills) to say that your assumption that other people can steal your cannon's kills in single combat is wrong. I did not say such a method was possible at Brimhaven. It's not, since there's no safespot, as I've stated. If you just want to focus on this discussion, you can ignore that point. Plus (for sake of argument), even if there WAS a safespot and you WERE killing wild dogs, look at it this way. On a task of 150 you'd probably use about 1k-1.3k cballs. That coses about 250k-300k if the prices stayed the same as in my memory. Now if you got the cannon to act as multitarget there, you'd get the task done AT LEAST 3x faster. So if it took 2 hours before, it would take about 45 minutes with a cannon on multitarget. In that 1 hour and 15 minutes you save, you can easily make DOUBLE the money you spent, but that depends on your levels, of course. I know that I can get 700-800k per hour. That means if such a method of cannoning at Brimhaven DOES exist, I'd actually PROFIT by about 500k by using my cannon, and that's not including the drops you get while doing it. As, and Sadukar points about above, if you cannon in the wild, there are no wild dogs to worry about. There are revenants, but in p2p for a well-armed high level, they are hardly a threat. I was discussing slayer xp per hour (as was extremely clear throught the entire thread, and as you knew). 54k flat melee xp per hour is awful, even for a Slayer task. I have no idea why you mentioned this, It badly weakens your point. The wilderness location never even occoured to me. I had never heard of anyone killing greaters in the wilderness on a slayer task, that is what caused the confusion. I have also never attempted to cannon greaters in brimhaven. It would be possible I guess (to wildy cannon), but even if you did, it would be slow compared to other cannonable tasks. Greater demons are slow, expensive slayer xp. The rune C'bow is usually slower than traditional melee weapons on the vast majority of slayer tasks. Unlike other cannonable slayer tasks, you will not be able to suppliment the cannon with your own kills in any significant way. Now that you pretended that we were discussing general training and not slayer by pointlessly mentioning that they are on par with ankos in terms of xp/hour, you are prepared to return to slayer when we discuss charms. In comparison with waterfiends and Black demons they are poor charms. They are the 5th best task for crimson charms. That is no reason to do them. If you are so desprate for crimsons hat you are willing to do a slow, unprofitable slayer task to get them, it is probably time to go camp rock lobs. If we are discussing Slayer the opportunity cost argument does not apply. Slayer does not assign avainese, or green dragons( at least not with duradel), or Bandos GWD or any of the usual popular money making methods. So, you've got a good task when you get Greater demons, that is if you like slow xp5th best charms, and if you don't get inturrupted by reverants and have to stop killing to deal with revs. Also, if you don't mind never getting any good drops.

We could also ignore trolls such as yourself. Thank you for all of the relevant and excellent points you made. Astounding counter. The thank god for the ignore list. If pro-gers are insisting that a clan of 15 could go around the entire game and buy out all Antifire pots for sale, all regeneration bracelets for sale, all lantadyme herbs and seeds for sale, all blue dragon scales for sale, and all Blue dragon Scale Dust for sale, in all of the various trade areas of the game in less than an hour, you are either lying, trying to delude yourself into thinking this is a good system, or didn't play the game back then. This is an example I saw in the game yesterday.

You can thank the failed Grand Exchange for promoting junk trading, and encouraging price manipulation, and forming the base for all merch scams.

30th April 2009 - New Dwarf Quest: Diary 3
Warhammers are on sale in kendalgrim, though, and dwarves often use warhammers as weapons. The chaos dwarves in Traverly Dungeon do, anyway. I think that either one or the other will be given out in connection to this quest line. I'm going to start collecting fire rune drops for junk trades again.

Mother gives birth to a baby with Anencephaly.
While killing everone who doesn't "contribute" to society is technically a smart decision. However to do so is not a wise decision. Trust me when I say these "backwater rednecks" would start a rebellion which would lead to the destruction of most of society. Do not poke the drunken imbeciles with a stick cause we'll get ya. On another note, wouldn't killing those that don't contribute to society include most, if not all, politicians. POST WAS SARCASM

Mother gives birth to a baby with Anencephaly.
Arguing against sick eugenics therioes? Technically, it makes perfect sence to kill everyone who doesn't contribute to society. So, really, regardless of all of that "right and wrong" nonsense, we need to put down all people who are deemed ineffecient by the government, and we need to do it now. Now, we could examine the argument that there are some of those "moral" things that override what is technically correct, but that is a bunch of redneck backwater nonsense. If you disagree with me, you are an "anti-intellectual". If you give a flying [bleep], please type 287 in your next message. [NOTE]

If 99 str is so common, should I feel proud to get it?
IMO,it wouldnt matter if you were getting 99 Slayer or 99 strength, becasue, ultimately, all it proves is that you have spent a little too much time playing a game. That is at least the way I look at my 99 strength. 99 Strength takes over 100 hours to achieve, and many skills don't even take 50. It is a bigger achievement than many people would think, regardless of how common it is.

Crushing and stabbing weps never used.
If you do unseat the whip as the juggernaut weapon, you had better give slayer at least one of the two new alternatives that would be introduced. I was origionally against the whip being a jugeranut, but everything is connected. Any change you make can really cause problems in practically every area of the game. IMO, they should use this crush/stab/slash system for something other than waterfiends, or get rid of it altogether.

Greaters: Slow xp, few drops, can't be cannoned, wild dogs, high competition, no bank. These should be a major priority to blacklist. I can't think of any task worse, except steel dragons.

Training useless Skills
I never train usless skills. I have zero concern about my total level, I have no desire to sit in a bank for 10 hours just to increase my total level. To me, a bought cape has no value. I would rather slay for a week than buy a cape. It costs money to get those expensive capes, but as the op pointed out, the skills are worthless. You can't make any sort of profit. There are few situations where it is more practical to make a potion rather than to buy one. It is literally smart not to train half of the skills in the game, unless you want to train them.

The ring of wealth is a LIE!
ROW has a very tiny improvement in probability. I wonder at how they determine the value of the drops on the wheel. Before the ge, unless a j mod kept track of street prices and changed the ROW effect on the drop tables of dozens of monsters every few months, then it would have to be determined by alch value. This implies that the ROW could actually be a dangerous item to wear, depending on which monster you are camping. Every test I have ever seen on the ROW results in a very small improvement in the chance of a drop or no noticable difference. Usually these tests have to involve dozens or even hundreds of extremely rare drops before even a small percentage of improvement can even be noticed from the ROW.

Good nastalgia or good ol' BS?
It isn't impossible to do something without the home teleport -- whenever I do one run per trip at Barrows, I bring a teleport. All I'm saying is that it allows us more freedom in what we can take there by freeing up at least one inventory space. Also, the home teleport would be more analogous to free prayer points on a rarer basis -- similar to the Falador Shield, which hasn't imbalanced the game as far as I've noticed. It's quite balanced, making it a nice convenience in case you forget a teleport, but making sure that you can't abuse it to completely replace teleports -- sure, I never use one at Aviansies, but I'll use it soloing Bandos. It's not a replacement for conventional teleports, simply an alternative. But you are intentionally using it in order to save inventory space. The main purpose that it was introduced was to prevent people from ever being "lost". Since the inclusion of these teleports, if you tele somewhere and forget to bring a tele back, then you can just use the home teleport. I believe that is bad for gameplay. While it is a convienience, giving 8 dose pots would also be a convienience. Removing the degrade form barrows armor would also be a convienience. While you would have to find a bank again if you forgot to bring a tele, I can never remember being in a position where I wasn't capable of reaching a bank or some sort of tele point in a decent amount of time.

Mother gives birth to a baby with Anencephaly.
I would be in no hurry to kill her. They should probably just let the baby's short life run its course, she won't live long. I agree with the standard procedure that is decribed in Wikipedia. Don't do it like with baby K, don't attach her to a resporator, just provide nourishment and comfort. The mother does not want to accept the facts about this child, and she is turning to religion for comfort. That is completely understandable, and proabably not unusual.

Costume Room - Support NOW and make a difference!
true...i've hated the fact that they spent all that time developing bounty hunter...to knock it out about 6months after it's released....i have a new idea jagex...."why not fix the house before you sell it on the market" Even though Bh was a bad replacement for Wildy PKing, i still played it, but it would have been nice if the issues had been worked out before it was released. Not remove it and fix it one day out of thin air. They should really consider what they intend to release before they just decide to invest so much time into it. Constume rooms are really for nothing but show, you show your friends once or twice one day, then its all over. Updating the costume room might be nice, adding these freatures that were suggested might be a little change, but if it would take too much time, I think the time would be better spent on something else.
