  1. Potentially, MOST skills could bring money into the game....via alching. Mine ores to make armour and alch. Woodcut, fletch and alch bows. etc... But like others have pointed out, most gp is brought into the game by alching.
  2. Kind of like smiithing is a skill where you spend 95% of the time gathering ore, and then 5% getting smithing xp? Kind of like fletching is a skill where you spend 95% of the time chopping trees, and then 5% of the time getting fletching xp? Kind of like herblore is a skill where you spend 99.9% of your time growing herbs, and then .1% of your time getting herblore xp? Kind of like construction is a skill where you spend 99.9% of your time chopping wood, making planks, gathering supplies, and then .1% of your time getting construction xp? No. Obviously MOST people buy the supplies and then get their xp in those skills. Summoning is only different because you can't buy the charms. The big problem, to JAGEX, is that you can gain Summoning xp very quickly without a multiplier. When the multiplier is used, Summoning xp is amazing.
  3. Why not pot up and then start with the highest level first? That would give you the best chance of not failing and maximize your xp potential.
  4. Without a doubt, one of the most useless topics ever on Tip It. However, just look at it this way. The "months" JAGEX charges you for ALL have 28 days. Your "month" of membership is only for 28 days. Any days in the month after the 28th day are FREE days for your to play Runescape. Woot! Woot! FREE Runescape membership.
  5. "Impressionable minds are going to run into bad language/racism/whatever. It's part of life. It's also a PARENT's job to make sure their kids aren't exposed to it. Jagex can't be held responsible for a parent's shortcomings. Don't want your kid being exposed to reality, don't let them play Runescape. It's as simple as that." Actually it should be every adult RS players' responsibility to provide the best gaming experience possible. In my mind, that experience would not include profanity. Obviously kids will be exposed to that kind of stuff. Parents cannot stop it. Parents can, and should, try to reduce the amount of "negative" influences. The profanity filter helped do that. Let's see..."Don't want your kid being exposed to reality, don't let them play Runescape." So if I don't want them exposed to reality, I shouldn't let them go the mall? The mall is "reality" right? I probably shouldn't let them go to school either (Hey! You kids might like that.) because school is reality. Since we are talking about "reality" & school, could kids in school curse like sailors and get away with it? Probably not. Yes. I know. RS is not reality.....thankfully.
  6. Something I don't think I have seen mentioned: A lot of the "discussion" has been centered around "turn your filter on & you won't have to see the remarks". Obviously this is correct. But what about all the young, impressionable kids who will have their filters turned off and will see the offensive remarks? It is just not the recipients of the offensive remarks who would be effected.
  7. I will leave my filter turned off and report EVERYONE who makes offensive remarks. IMHO, this "update" is a step backward.
  8. You're a goddamn badass if you can get angry without swearing. Nope. Just mature enough to be able to control myself.
  9. To me, part of being an adult is being able to talk without using profanity.
  10. The return of free trade and the old Wildy was a forgone conclusion (by JAGEX) before the first petition was released. Don't kid yourselves. The decision was made behind closed JAGEX doors many weeks ago. The petition was only a means to generate discussion among current and former players. Supposedly some things will be relocated when the old Wilderness returns. I assume one of those things would be penguins. Don't you think the release of the Zanaris penguin many weeks ago was a "test run" of a penguin in a new location? I do. Bots & credit card fraud were flourishing under the old system. My bank refused to allow my debit card to be used to pay for my subscription because of this. Obviously JAGEX DOES have improved bot detection methods ready to go or they would not be taking this chance. I bet they might have even tested this system in the past. Remember the stat rollbacks & asking those effected players to submit bug reports. I have no doubt that was part of getting the new bot detectiion methods ready to go. I also have no doubt that those players suspected of botting will get rollbacks/banned much, much quicker when free trade returns.
  11. (Based on the pictures two posts above this one.) It looks like the door in that picture is the door to the boss room. It also looks like there are two "activated" symbols, and two "unactivated" symbols on the door. I'm going to GUESS that this new boss will have two rooms. The first room you use to get your kill count. You will not get KC in the main GWD room. There will be 4 different NPCs in that room. You will have to kill X number of each NPC in order to open the boss door. Once you have killed X number of a particular NPC, the cooresponding symbol on the boss door will "activate". The NPCs in that room will include mages, rangers, melee tanks, and a tri-brids. The combat triangle will be much more pronounced in this room. Players will be forced to carry specific equipment/weapons in order to get KC effectively. As someone pointed out, there will be no initial immunity from attack in this room. I would GUESS that the boss will drop equipment/weapons that will offer immunity. Based on the "pits" in the boss room, I am going to GUESS that the boss will frequently freeze a player, teleport behind a "pit", and then continue to mage/range that player. I would expect that players will be frozen longer than the normal ancient spells freeze. I am also going to GUESS that the boss will be able to use all three attack styles during one attack. Maybe his magic will create a glowing battle axe that he will throw. This would be a mage based, melee-range attack. Of course it will also turn off a player's prayer. BTW, prayer will drain at a faster rate in this boss room and there will be no altar. Oh yeah, take a look at the claws on that boss. I expect one of the attacks will be the Dragon Claws special attack.
  12. No: that max hit is reduced 30%, but your OVERALL reduction is much more complicated to calculate. you have to average the hit reduction for all possible hits you could receive to find the OVERALL reduction. this calculation is shown in the other thread your overall reduction will be somewhere around 10% probably. If that was the only hit he took, then his OVERALL reduction would have been 30% (assuming his math is correct). Semantics.
  13. Then the obvious solution is to reset strength to 1.
  14. I always get the -4% guide mode when I solo a c1 dungeon. Always.
  15. "The thing is, those arguing for higher requirements have't really said any reasons for it." The requirements required should coorelate to the rewards received. It is that simple. If a quest gives pretty much no reward, then there should be very little requirements. If a quest gives medium-levell rewards = mediium-level requirements. If a quest gives high-level rewards = high-level requirements. Wouldn't that make a lot of sense?
  16. "Seeing as it was announced as Bonus XP weekend it looks as if there still is flaws when inactive players like I call it Double XP weekend!" Correct. But the flaws are the players who don't take the time to actually read about the update. If you are going to call yourself "inactive", I really don't see how you can call it "flaws" that you didn't completely understand how the weekend was going to work. But, to each his own. "I didn't use SC hats for Magic during the weekend after 2x XP. The point I'm trying to make it that it's a waste of time as I had to wait all weekend to use my SC Hats to reach the level I aimed for because of the XP I wasn't going to receive. Read the rest of my paragraph to fully comprehend what I mean by this as I can't be bothered to type it out again although I do admit I am guilty of not preparing aswell as I could have." I completely understand what you are saying. Essentially you had planned to use your SC hats to train magic. It did not make sense for you to use them with the multiplier. So you had to wait to use your SC hats. Really that is just a minor inconvenience. Granted you had to wait to use your hats, but you still could have recieved tons of bonus xp in another skill (saving you time). "So you think Jagex expected every player to get their RuneScape account completely and perfectly ready for the Bonus XP to start?" No. I do not. However, JAGEX DID give every player the OPTION to do that. You apparently chose to not do so. Many other players took advantage of the advance notice and were properly prepared to start the weekend. "Sorry but that's false." Again, you had the OPTION to do that but did not take advantage of it. It may have been false for you, but it was true for many, many people. "I don't log off for the night leaving my character ready to skill and there aren't many who do (unless they're training Combat or a skill where you don't have to move). " That was a choice you made. You could have done that. Many did. I did. "Of course there are going to be a lot of players who don't read News and Announcements." Those players have to live with the choices they make. "The time shouldn't just start when you teleport somewhere. It should start when you want it to as it's your time and your Bonus XP." When I first read this idea, I kind of liked it. Now that I have thought about it, I don't think I do. Two things. First. I have no knowledge about writing software codes. I am assuming JAGEX could have used your suggestion. I just wonder if they would have created the possibility of more bugs/glitches during the weekend. Second. If JAGEX would have implemented the weekend like you suggest (being able to toggle on/off your multiplier), here is what I (and many others) would have done. I would have picked my skill to train. Let's say Herblore. Bought/Gathered my supplies. Pre-mixed my potions. Arranged the potions and secondaries in my bank in the order I wanted to make the potions (to increase my maximum xp gain). Actually, this is exactly what I did anyway. Here is what I would have down differently. Multiplier is turned off. Withdraw pre-mixed potions & secondaries. Turn on multipliier. Mix potions. Turn off multiplier. Bank potions. Repeat. I could have stretched out my multipliers by doing this. Multiplier turned off. Almost complete a 5:5 large dungeon. Turn on multiplier. Finish Dungeon. Turn off multiplier. Repeat. Think about the HUGE Dungeoneering xp I could have received this way.
  17. "There's a lot of flaws in the Double XP Weekend". It was NEVER announced as a "double" xp weekend. It was a "Bonus" xp weekend. A very big difference. There was never any intent to allow player to have double xp the entire time. "Although prices go up, they go up for the better as more money is spent and taken out of the economy." Not entirely correct. A lot of money did change hands, but the vast majority of it was not taken out of the economy. For example, Player A buys 500 million gps worth of Torstol herbs from Player B. The money was not taken out of the economy. It just changed hands. Now if Player A bought 500 million gp woth of shards, that money would have been taken out of the game. "Why would I use a 1.5x XP Multiplier for Magic when I can get Stealing Creation Hats and gain 2x the XP from 1 Stun for example?" You would do that if you didn't like SC. BUT, the better answer is that you would have prepared properly and known not to use your 1.5x multiplier for magic. "For me, I didn't actually realise my time I had and lost half my 2.7x XP due to this." I hope it does not sound like I am being mean to you, but didn't JAGEX tell us all when the bonus xp would start? Didn't you also get a message in your chat window when you logged in that said the bonus xp had started? If people did not realize that the bonus time had started, isn't it really thier own fault?
  18. Making the announcement 1 day in advance gives almost NO time to prepare. It would not be possible to produce your own supplies in only one day. Producing your own supplies would be even more difficult for those who could only log on a couple of hours before the event. Making the announcement 1 day in advance would also give a HUGE advantage to those online at the time of the announcement. Those people would immediately rush to the GE and buy supplies. Those not fortunate enough to be logged in, would not be very happy about not being able to buy any supplies. Only having 1 day of bonus experience is perhaps the most unfair way to do it. All players have a much better chance to benefit from the increased experience if the "bonus time" is spread over the course of a few days. A fixed multiplier would only encourage grinding. It would almost force people to play continuously to gain the maximum benefit. Again, not a very good thing. Really if the last bxp weekend was too confusing for some people, they obviously didn't READ how the weekend was going to work.
  19. 97 > 98 attack 91 > 92 magic 84 > 91 herblore 70 > 71 thiev 92 > 93 slayer 89 > 93 summoning 53 > 55 dung 82 > 83 wood cutting Yes. I played entirely too much.
  20. Circus. Quickly teleport to a 1-click bank. Then herblore, herblore, and more herblore. Will go from 84 to 91. Maybe to 92 if more supplies buy. Then probably a mix of Slayer & Dung. until my multiplier gets to 1.1 and then use up about 4K charms to go to 92 Summoning.
  21. I've been thinking about the logic behind the OP's view. I"m a citizen of the USA. But you know what? I'd like to learn to ski. How about we (the USA) just go ahead and take over Switzerland? I would learn to love to ski there. After all, we are capable of "crashing" Switzerland. We obviously have better equipment. I also love to fish. Most of my experience is wtih freshwater fish (smallmouth & trout). BUT, I would love to do some serious sal[bleep]er fishing. I realize that we have some pretty good sal[bleep]er fishing in the USA (i have fished the Keys), but I want to be as efficient as possible. I also want to go someplace more exotic. Maybe Costa Rica? Never been there, but how hard could it be to crash the whole place? We have built up or military. We "deserve" to claim Costa Rica if we want. {Heck, while we are there, we might as well travel a little south and take over Panama. How hard could that be? They have that little canal I think we should control. After all, it is the most efficient method of travel in many circumstances. Our power gives us the "right" to control that efficiency.} I also like to hunt. But I'm tired of the common game we have here in the USA. I'm thinking we should just go ahead and claim some African Countries. Safari anyone?
  22. Actually a better anology might be this: The OP goes to a park where there are several basketball goals. A bunch of smaller, less experienced kids are playing at the first goal. Instead of the OP going and looking for an open goal, he "crashes" the little kids and takes thier goal. The OP justifies his behavior by telling himself that he "deserves" to use the most convenient goal because he is older and more experienced. After all, he has put the time in to grow and become a better basketball player. He thinks he deserves to use that goal. Once those little kids grow up, they can crash other people. Fair? In reality, he is a bully. Not an elitist. You can color it anyway you like. The OP is just hiding behind the anonymity of his/her computer screen and being a bully.
  23. Great time for whip prices to drop (sarcasm). I just got 3 whips from an Abby task.
  24. Sad. One of the worst examples of childish RS behavior I have ever seen. It is kids like you, who hide behind the anonymity of their computer screens, that really can make RS a not so fun place. Part of growing up is learning that just because you CAN do something, does not mean you SHOULD. I really wish JAGEX could somehow make this type of behavior punishable. If anyone deserves some sort of ban for their behavior, this child certainly does.
