How Easy Do You Want It?
It is disadvantaging them, preventing a better way of training to be implemented, and trying to stop change from "helping" the newer players. Oh well, talk is cheap. We'll see that I'm right years from now, since change is inevitable and the complainers' threads and posts will be drowned out by the ever-spinning wheel of change.

Price manipulation: right or wrong?
You're getting it mixed up. Jagex can OBSERVE the price manipulators' clan buying out thousands of items. That is an observation and a fact and very hard to disagree with. The normal player can only INTERPRET the prices and suspect that price manipulators are at work. So there's still a way to catch manipulators, but it would take a lot of resources and time.

How Easy Do You Want It?
It's called change. Then what's Jagex going to do about it? Stop a good update to please 10% of the population and not 90% and more new players? I never said I liked the game to be too easy. I'm saying just because you got your crappy stats the "old" and "harder" way, you have to be selfish and prevent a large proportion of the newer population from getting something the easier way? It won't stop. When weapons get to a certain point of power, Jagex will just increase the value of defence or HP or armor and that sort of thing.

Creativity...the Lack of It.
How do you know Jagex ripped it off from that website? Maybe that website ripped it off from Jagex, or it was just pure coincidence, as:

Yeah, he did post in on the RSOF.

Price manipulation: right or wrong?
Thanks for the very thorough post showing clearly where jrhairychest went wrong. Considering you claim to know so much about it, you're trying to tell me that you didn't know it was happening? :^o I didn't claim to know a lot about it. To quote myself, I even admitted I sucked at economics. And as Fenrir said, interpretations are relative.

How Easy Do You Want It?
If we were seeing the odd miniscule change here and there I would agree. However I disagree. What happened with pyramid plunder or noted farm produce could happen to any skill. All it takes is for more people to whinge a skill takes them too long or Jagex to have another of its bright ideas to devalue another skill. Same with weapons, items, G.E etc. As soon as you start to make things easier in some way it starts to lose its original value. I'll just say it here - you're too stubborn. Just because you got your 99s or whatever stats the "old" way, you hate any new, easier ways to do things? And it's not like making the things SO easy until you just have to click a few times to get 99. You still have to be quite dedicated. Things like weapons and items don't make the game THAT much easier. What you're saying is really too extreme and you're making it sound like the end of the world because there's an easier way to do things. I can't comment on things like pyramid plunder since I've never tried them, but items and weapons don't "devalue" the game as much as you claim, definitely. hum have you ever taken a debate class because the first thing they tell you is to stay calm and be willing to argue any point but also be willing to accept that there are two sides to every story so take the heat or get out of the kitchen doesnt really work here since everyone should be calm and peaceful if you dont believe me watch a presidential debate and the one who loses his cool if they do almost always loses Too bad, this isn't an official debate or some kind of contest. It's a debate on a forum. Things are very different in the cyber world.

Creativity...the Lack of It.
I agree with all the people who posted above me. Orcs, goblins, dwarves, elves, dragons, giants, etc etc etc. These have been copied millions of times. Is anyone complaining? No, because they first copied the ideas from ancient myths. And the creators of the myths are long dead. If you're going to charge everyone who "copies", you're going to have a hard time chasing down thousands of companies who allegedly "copied" your ideas.

The great year of upgrades, then why does this new one suck!
No it doesn't suck. The lag is probably caused by many people trying it out, which happens all the time with new places, etc. Bugs are inevitable. All you've pointed out is one bug, which isn't that big of a deal. Just look at it in a positive light. It does make the game more convenient and smooth. No need to right-click and all that any more.
-
is this enough for mage?
No. Simple as that. It only makes it slightly more convenient for mages. Nothing major to make mages come up to the same power as melee/range in F2P. I don't know why anyone would think otherwise.

Price manipulation: right or wrong?
If you played more instead of being 'semi-retired' you would know this by word of mouth and through personal experience. I can't understand your meaning at all when you're being economical with the truth. Because you've been stressing that its so wrong all along, you're backed into a corner as you now admit you made money from it but 'claim' you didn't know it was being manipulated. hmmmm so the sharp rise in price gave you no clues? :^o Look- the sharp rise could have easily been something legitimate like a new item that requires it, etc. Can't you get that? Even if you claim that I could know that by reading the news, the change could still be caused by other causes that are not reported like a newly discovered way of training that requires that item, etc.

How Easy Do You Want It?
Debates are meant to be aggressive and heated. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Anyway, just because I'm not a full-time player doesn't mean I can't relax/kill time on the forums by debating/ranting/whatever. And also, you seem to be resorting to a lot of personal issues and "ad hominems". Why don't you cut the crap about questioning "why I posted here anyway since I'm XXX" and all that and focus on the debate instead? You seem to be missing the point that AT THIS POINT in time, the game is still relatively difficult compared to other MMORPGs. Making all the skills of the same difficulty level wouldn't do much to make the game "extremely easy". I'm not looking at the easiest options - I'm just saying the game will always make the game easier and easier. I've already told you I'm not taking any sides. True. Good that you acknowledge it. This is not going against my points I made earlier. There's a subtle difference. I've said before, one change making the game easier, e.g. cook-x is EXTREMELY minuscule on the chain of events that make the game easier. It would take hundreds thousands of events making the game easier to make it so easy it doesn't even serve it's purpose as a game.

JaGEx >_<
You're really making yourself look more and more stupid. You're blatantly spouting nonsensical and clearly false facts and trying to defend them although you clearly know they are rubbish. I'll repeat once more:I DON'T THINK JAGEX IS PERFECT. Got that? I've made two of my own rants about the game. Go and search "Crushing and stabbing weps never used" and "F2P Mage and Range underpowered". Enough for you? I've never defended any member updates before. Another of your stupid claims. If you have evidence of me defending members' updates, go ahead and post them. Can't find any, eh? I'm just defending Jagex because I can see that they DO put in effort into updates and try their best to improve the game and fix bugs. They do make mistakes, and I do dislike some of the updates they make and how bad the F2P combat triangle is, but in the end, they are human after all, and to err is to be human. You hit the nail on the head here. ;)

No Update Week
This week's update was really one of the largest and best so far, so quit nitpicking on small things. The new game engine makes the game much more smooth and convenient. So what if it's more noob-friendly? Does it kill you that some noobs won't keep begging you for help any more? The autocasting thing was quite ok IMO. It gave magic some extra power it had deserved, but still magic is far behind the other few combat types in power. I couldn't care less about the personalised shops, but it causing the relaxation of price limits in the GE was good.
-
really jagex i know what im doing
Really pointless. Big deal if Jagex creates some "baby-sitting" updates. Anyway, those aren't for idiotic people, it's for convenience's sake. And if you really detest it so much, just do as Omali said and turn it off. I doubt it will even cause HUGE amounts of lag or whatever. It's quite a useful and convenient update IMO.

Price manipulation: right or wrong?
Of course I can read. Why do you think I find your posts amusing? Condering your double act with seesall claiming you guys knew all about price manipulation and how it worked then then you claim you didn't know that the items that you were selling were being manipulated? Very easy to plead ignorance when someone is asking you to be honest. All I'm asking for it a little honesty in this debate. I honestly don't know what the [bleep] you mean. What "double act"? I repeat again - it is IMPOSSIBLE to know whether an item is being manipulated or not unless you check the Grand Exchange database's charts. And who will do that? Also if you don't know a single thing about economics like me, how the hell are you going to tell whether XXX item is being manipulated at all? I find your posts really amusing. You can't understand my meaning at all, and you're asking for honesty. Try to understand what I'm saying before blatantly dismissing it as rubbish.

How Easy Do You Want It?
You really don't appear the understand this debate at all, We all know that things will be easier on an individual basis, certainly with skill development and general game progress and a few updates will smooth out some areas as you put it. The point of the debate is how easy do you want it? You seem to think that the all updates make just little 'tweaks' to the game, well that is not the case and others have given good examples of this. We are back to my golf analogy, you might want better clubs and a smoother green, but you wouldn't want the holes twice their size. #-o Why don't you just admit you want the game as easy as they can make it....then tell me why? I might then be able to debate you....but this????? :wall: What actually has made the game less of a challenge, other than tweaks? I can think of nothing in the last two years. Pyramid Plunder cabbaged things up...is that it? Most of the complaints, I think, are coming from equating tedium with difficulty. +1 You don't seem to be getting my point at all. Why don't you stop forcing people to choose a side in your debate? Can't someone have another opinion? And just because an opinion is deemed "incapable to be debated with" by you, you have the right to dismiss it as rubbish and claim that the person has not contributed in any way. This is just my opinion - you have no right to try and force me to change it and "admit" that I want the game as easy as possible - because I don't want it to be as easy as possible. If it's that easy, why play it? You can just "complete" the game with minimal effort and time, and it wouldn't be serving it's purpose as a game, as a source of entertainment and to kill time. How is this stand even debatable? It's obviously wrong to say that you want the game as easy as possible because it will be failing it's fundamental concept as a game - to kill time. So why are you trying to force me to take this stand which is impossible to debate? Or are you such a sore loser that you have to have the "easier" topic so you can "win" the debate more easily?

JaGEx >_<
Wow, now just because I defended Jagex a bit you start resorting to insult me because you didn't have a real argument. Look - I don't think Jagex is perfect or whatever [cabbage] you say. They might be doing other things like Mechscape and upgrading their game engine. Those are not published/told to the players. It is the upgrade year after all. And I find it really idiotic that a member is complaining about how bad the game is when an F2P player with far less updates is keeping quiet. Why don't you quit your complaining and go and play the game instead of focusing on how many new things/updates are being released? Isn't the game good enough? Can't Jagex touch up some things that they don't tell the players about, since it is the upgrade year after all? You just seem like it's impossible to please you. Every little mistake, buggy content, whatever, you have to whine and complain, as if Jagex staff were robots that make 0 mistakes. Putting a lot of "anti-Jagex" stuff in your signature. Honestly, I don't care whether you quit or not, just stop whining and complaining when it isn't going to get anything done. Okay, now go ahead and turn on your flame-throwers to maximum. Not that I care about your insults.

[Updated 9 Dec] Reviving Smithing : Divinite
I'm not Zaaps1, but I'll try to answer your questions as far as possible. The "curse" thing is to stop the armor/weapons from being overpowered and prevent combos with many divine weapons at once. Damage reduction isn't a big deal. It might seem like it is, because it is the first time it's happening. Let me give you an example: Of 10 hits, 4 hit. Assuming average damage = 10, total 10x4 = 40 damage. Of 10 hits, 8 hit. Assuming average damage is the same, but resistance is 50%, you'll do 5x8 = 40 damage. Of 10 hits, 6 hit. Assuming average damage is the same, but resistance is 25%, you'll do 7.5x6=45 damage. The items being tradeable was to bring back life back into smithing and mining, so the miners/smiths could earn $$$ with their high levels in their skills. Without it, all they could gain is more power in combat.

so pissed... (YES MAD)
Then you better tidy up the rant or it'll just get locked... I don't know about clue scrolls personally since I'm a F2P player. But it is annoying when hard work doesn't pay off.

How Easy Do You Want It?
I would also argue this point, other than getting a cape, and there is more to the game than aspiring to a cape, although accomplishing that is a good feeling. The purpose of skill development is to be able to achieve more, smith higher items, make higher level potions, use shortcuts, this improves the variety of the game and yes can make some parts of the game easier....but you have to work for it! Many quests provide costumes and some xp, and occasionally some weapons or tools that may be useful, but do not make things significantly easier. It is the unnecessary updates by Jagex that significantly 'downskill' the game that is an issue for me and the point of this debate. There you have it. I'm arguing that progress will always make the game easier, whether minuscule or huge. Even though the change might only make the game a tiny bit easier, it's still making the game easier. On the point of "downskilling", I disagree. Most updates were just updates to make the game more convenient and smooth, and NOT making the game require less SKILL. Making the game smooth and convenient just allows players to have a more enjoyable experience while playing the game. It does make the game easier, but it doesn't make the game SO much easier as you're trying to claim. This might sound weird, but the harder it is, the easier it makes the game...because the greater/better the rewards, the easier the game becomes. So you're essentially contradicting yourself. Errr....No! I believe he's saying that if he decides he wants a cape he wants the challenge of getting it. A more challenging cape means this will increase his enjoyment factor of getting it later and showing it off because..well...he can. That's true I guess. But I was speaking more of the "physical" gains that he could get from it, since enjoyment is a relative term, and he might enjoy getting XXX but I don't enjoy getting the same XXX.
