  1. when you have a fireplace, plenty of rain (or midnight sun, depending on weather ), all you've really provided is jazz music. reality is so superior to virtual reality this topic will quickly be forgotten in the mass of random, useless topics for me. I'm scared by the enthusiasm
  2. There's a fallacy in there somewhere. Not sure which one though, I don't keep a list, but if any of the more knowledgeable posters do, please say it... It's interesting that you post this after mentioning how blinded the anti-Israel side is, though. IT is a red herring, specifically an "irrelevant conclusion" fallacy. a) You support it b ) they call themselves a humanitarian flotilla conclusion: you support it therefore [fallacy] you also call it a humanitarian flotilla.
  3. look at the graphs then. using the past has been good, in the past, to check how things are going to progress, but merchanting clans have changed that dynamic. just look at the lower rares. they show how flippers / merchanters are making so much money they change the whole supply / demand chain. Flippers are the ultimate consumer: amazingly high turnover leads to a strengthening economy just like in real life, but the true values of items (like our building materials) are inflated above the costs of produced items (irl houses being worth less than building materials, produced items in runescape). We have higher turnover leading to GE inflation, leading to a more rapidly growing economy, which in turn is less predictable ("bubbles" irl, "crashes" in runescape). But in runescape we have such a large merchanting / trading economy a new bubble grows directly out of the previous one, with real gains hidden. summary: you can guess. you can look at graphs, but you're still guessing. There are few to no items with sine-like graphs of regular oscillations of slight increase / decrease. The GE makes sure of that, flipping has taken over and the fluctuations occur within ge updates almost always. you could of course set offers buying something like barrows armour for med, immediately put selling offers for x amount of gp above that, and wait untill they sell sometime in the future (long-term flipping) but it's a LOT more risky than short-terming. Items i personally expect to rise, permanently: bob shirts (also in street prices, real values guaranteed manifold real increases imo), onyx items including the ring of stone, animal masks, battle robes; pretty much anything with street. these items are obviously hard to purchase through the ge. the times of predicting rises has, because of junk trading, become something you need to do earlier than before. therefore, giving you items is just guessing. tl;dr: Noone can tell you with a high degree of certainty, therefore noone does the type of merchanting you want to do any longer.
  4. I usually like to go by actual play to determine who "deserves" to win. 45 mins left, so far it's been pretty even in chances and play. You're entitled to a good keeper (Nigeria) or an unlucky one (England). Either way, so far it's been a reality check for the English: doesn't look to me like they have a world-cup winning team - at least in its current form in the tournament.
  5. get better grades. if you're embarrassed to show your parents your grades, wouldn't you be honest to yourself? you're only fooling yourself, faking grades or removing them so your parents can't see them, you're only letting yourself down.
  6. ah, the predicted "high horse" moral ground exit stating that we're just idiots anyway, not respecting our opinions. you are right, we're all idiots for not agreeing with you. Deaf people don't appreciate hearing, because they have little/ no experience with it and its benefits. Color blind people don't feel inhibited by not seeing color, you're getting a positively biased view if you only talk to deaf people about hearing. Of course deaf people have to see the positives of being deaf: it's not that bad. there's little they can do to change their situation (As the cochlear implant topic suggests). Being negative about your disability and instead of making the best of it would be stupid, counter-productive and lead to depression. "telling the truth" : everyone has a personal truth: it's called an opinion, a view on life, a frame of reference. their truth is not necessarily true for others, but that doesn't make them liars. Setting up this false "either... or..." scenario shows your lack of understanding logic, argumentation, and a simplistic view of information in your surroundings (read: reality). Thanks for assuming i don't talk to deaf people. My latest conversation with a deaf person was earlier today, at a concert of all places. I'll leave you to continue your ignorance, your self-righteousness, and haughtiness. If you want to learn about how to stop manipulating and antagonizing people in discussions, people who have open minds and want to learn from a discussion, not beat their opinion into other people's minds, you can contact me. Learning how dialog and discussion works, will give you valuable experience in how adults interact, in every situation, be it through sign language or otherwise.
  7. sounds like bees. so lame they're not air horns: this is pure people-powered, not gas-powered. It'll be interesting to hear if the singing England Fans of tomorrow are heard above the Vuvuzelas.
  8. Okay the point was not really about the picture, but rather about the object that it depicts. Unless you have never had to explain to anyone how to get somewhere? And in a minute I can sign many more words than you can speak. Also ASL has a different, more direct structure, which allows less words to be used in a sentence. And finally, unless you are the tallest person in the world, you have less of an ability to see your surroundings than someone who is taller than you. Do you walk around wishing you were 10 feet tall so you could see over walls? Deaf people dont walk around wishing that they could hear (not all of them) you have yet to respond to the argument on the top of page 3. continuing to ignore that post leads me to believe you don't have an argument to contradict me , but you don't want to admit that there's a flaw in your "superior experience" due to our lack of reading Deaf Culture books to show what image the deaf want to project of themselves. All this speak of ASL. complete ignorance of all the other deaf languages and cultures globally. It's like ignoring all languages other than the American dialect of English. ignoring the fact that the deaf minority can't even communicate with each other face to face when travelling without aid.
  9. or just people getting bored of dungeoneering, or seeing the use of higher prayer for the dungeoneering reward prayers (that require a higher level than 70 for the normal prayerbook) I don't see any good reason why bones shouldn't continue to rise: more and more people decide to get prayer. green dragons are packed, prayer is something you get at a higher level, more players are "high level" than before, no new game worlds have been released for effective dragon spots, other moneymakers are more effective than bones and hides. it could, of course, be manipulation. i highly doubt that due to the sheer volume of bones traded though.
  10. why would i ever need to explain a picture to someone in sign language, rather than showing them the picture? i'm sure you can construct a situation, but the utility is very minor. I could also gesticulate, which by definition is sign language so you eliminate it from the situation to suit your argument, rather than reality. How many words a minute can you sign? I know I speak quite rapidly myself, probably faster than you can read. but that's besides the point: how many people with normal hearing do you know that wish they were born deaf, rather than with hearing? You have yet to respond to my argument on the top of page 3, about why not recognizing that lack of a sense is a disability burdens your surroundings.
  11. Rofl, and to think just 2 days ago I bought a Santa + Uncut Onyx for cash. Its not a comedy, it's the dream for us merchanters: predictable fluctiations to flip with making tonnes of money wow good deal :D glad i made my santas into masks, adding junk. Seems that may have been very profitable. what's happening to crowns? gaining loads of GE value (large update followed by 10kish update it seems), yet street remains stable? would think they were either decrease in street value also (as they are realizing a lot of potential in real value), or increased in street as realizing value into net worth is very predicable. hmmm....
  12. south africa - mexico, 60 mins played right now. what a goal by south africa!
  13. you're forgetting one important thing, posted before on this topic, but that you consequently seem to have overlooked or ignored: I have a grandmother with Alzheimers, severe Alzheimers. She thinks she's fine (just as a deaf person might) but my grandfather is the one left to take care of her, ensure she knows where she is, knows where she's going, remembers to eat, etc. She's otherwise very fit and healthy, which is a problem to my grandfather, due to his disability: she simply walks too fast for him to keep up, and she doesn't realize she needs help. therefore, when she 250m down the line forgets where she's going and turns left, instead of right and then continues, he's the one at a disadvantage. I'm not saying it's the exact thing with deaf people, but it's similar: you can't tell them they have a disability, they won't recognize it. At least that's the truth for the 4 deaf people i've met regularly. example 1: I had a deaf kid in my class at school for a couple of years. He didn't, and wouldn't recognize our needs for him to be quiet when in class. He simply said "you don't need it to be quiet" mind you, we were 14+ years at the time, not children. example 2: cleaning lady at a friend's house when we were children. She was vacuuming, chord snagged a table, table moves grinding the floor making loud noise, lamp falls and breaks. Employer says, kindly: "we don't have eyes in the back of our heads, you need to look around more when you can't hear stuff (or words to that effect)" her response: " I didn't feel the vibrations of the table moving because of the vacuum cleaner, just as you wouldn't have heard the noise over the vacuum cleaner" I both heard and felt both. I'm sorry, your version of things is not "just how it is" Disabled people, deaf people included are a burden to society. yeah, it sucks to have people say that, but it is the truth. legally, realistically, economically, but oh so much more importantly for the people around them. This burden is not large, but it exists. Happily, society does, and should take care of all of those with disabilities, so their (special) needs are also met. Now i would never dream of telling a deaf person this, just as i would never tell my grandmother she's a burden for my grandfather (although she is). that has to do with respect. consequently, if asked, i wouldn't lie either, i would put it mildly but truthfully. Of course, linking us to Deaf culture websites will show that it's "not a disability" as wikipedia puts it : " Culturally Deaf people tend to view deafness as a difference in human experience rather than a disability" i.e. not recognizing the slight burden they are to their surroundings. just look at KODA's, and the special care they're given.
  14. if you want to reduce it to those terms, you could say mechanting has in turn always been more profitable than monster hunting / pking and scamming has always been more profitable than that (before trade limits) However, skilling now costs money in very many cases where you used to profit: already you are almost forced to boss or merchant if you wish to gain the higher level rares. that was not the case in the past.
  15. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Future_updates sourced and referenced for all your future updates needs :D this is a good replacement for the twitter hints thread though, if it goes into regular use.
  16. i still make 500k+ an hour doing homework while rune mining (so it takes 8-12 mins an hour doing the mining stuff, leaving me slightly less efficient with homework) farming is still probably one of the most efficient moneymakers in terms of money per minute spent (7 mins max for a 5 patch herb run) at the release of extreme potions, i id'd herbs, 100k+ herblore exp an hour, a guaranteed 2m+ an hour. of course, that no longer works, but there are bound to be methods still in use today however, yes, experience currently holds market value. It has since fletching and alching bows was no longer profitable (i think this happened in 2006-7, may misremember year though) The days of profiting off efficient methods of gaining exp are limited: the GE makes it very easy to spot these things and calculate them.
  17. you get to park in handicap parking here, if you're deaf, or have a deaf person in the family: that's sign of what is legally termed a "disability" here at least. would you say blindness isn't a disability either?` I don't know enough about cochlear implants to comment on how they should be used, but marginalizing or normalizing those with disabilities is a disservice to them, and to the loved ones giving them the extra care they need. I'm not advocating victimization, on the other end of the spectrum: deafness is definitely one of the disabilities that reduce your quality of life the least.
  18. you're going to flip right? then you want flat graphs with little variation, where the prices fluctuate daily (i.e. items with a small supply, or high demand such as f2p items). items you should do change daily / weekly so no point in giving you a specific item: teach a man to fish and he has fish for the rest of his life etc.
  19. if rings of stone are buyable, i would get them instead of furies: they require the same gem, aren't useful, and i would consider them more under-valued. It's riskier than furies though, that's for sure. Treasure trail items are also an option: more and more of thems eem to be bought out for street. now it's bob shirts, can you guess what the next item will be?
  20. you're forgetting prayer potions, super restore potions and super prayer potions, both directly through soul split, and indirectly through protection prayers I'm really glad they fixed this bug or game mechanic, whatever you call it. It's now more about strategy, not clicking a million times a minute when you pvp and pvm. This update lends itself to using the combat triangle, to adapting your gear to the fight, to hybriding, to compromising and not just relying on food to save you whenver your strategy fails. I've been a shark brewer, i've been a "pure-fooder" when i haven't bothered to click a ton, just wanting to relax.
  21. you could check the graphs, so you don't sit for an update when the item you're sniping is guaranteed not to update.
  22. yeah i turned all my santas into greens, adding junk  It kinda scared me that people were accepting junk, but i figured it's been waaaay too long since santas were worth more than green masks. time will tell, at least i got rid of a hefty amount of junk :P
  23. easiest way of getting onyx for own use: 20-25 hours at tzhaar
  24. don't plan. just let it happen, and have fun with it while your runescaping can be plan-less. Do what you feel like doing in the moment, rather than having a "goal" at first. I wish i were in this position right now :D, needing to learn more parts of the game that i'm not familiar with at all.
  25. in terms of energy, the difference between photons and even electrons is so large that we'd need some revolutionary new type of power source: hydrogen fusion wouldn't be enough. where would that kind of power come from, unless your teleporter is powered by the core of a star (which is also fusion, but so much more power-intense)?
