Transferring... XP between accounts?!?!?
tortilliachp replied to MstrMonopoly's topic in Help and Advice
does jagex have a way of knowing you're multilogging, or simply playing at the same time as a sibling? ;-) no rule breaking encouraged of course. :---) -
http://www.geupdate.com/update-prediction.php this is the best anyone i know can give update prediction. within that timeframe, i have a theory, but not enough of a sample to see if it holds water.
-
this post does not lend itself to any discussion though. why is it not moved to a forum that suits it, such as "help and advice" ? This definitely categorizes as "Whether you need help or are offering help, all questions belong here." It would also suit Runescape media, as it is a piece of runescape media. posting in this forum is obviously for advertising purposes, not because teh topic suits this forum. On the feature itself: why not make something new, that hasn't been done multiple times before? An area of improvement is GE update prediction. yes, some websites have a general idea, but a more accurate formula / estimate would be very useful to many.

this is the best i've seen anyone do in terms of prediction: http://www.geupdate.com/update-prediction.php It's not much, but a lot better than nothing. I have a theory for how it works more closely, but i have yet to get enough information to confirm it with any real degree of reliability. we'll see though :D

few goals: just look at champions league this year. fewest goals in a looooooong time. it's because defensive organization is improving, and the offensive "stars" simply can't breach through defense on their own. it means you have to double on the sides, or in the middle to create opportunities, in turn you need aggressive backs. In reality the first match in a championship is about not loosing. if you draw, you look set to go through to the next round, with a win in next 2 matches. Why risk moving your backs up then? altitude give more European temperatures, which is probably fair as so many of the world cup players play in Europe every day. the light ball should give more play / shots, not less. a light ball moves more easily through the grass, meaning you can pass faster, with the same accuracy as previously, and the same technique. that makes it harder for defenders, not attackers. Shots fired should also be harder, and less predicable for goalies if anything. which would create more goals, not less. team play will also improve throughout the tournament month. I think it'll improve a little as we progress in the tournament, but defense is simply better than offense now-a-days. it's a lot easier to block an opportunity, than to creatively create one. It's gonna be interesting to see the remaining 80 minutes of Italy playing. if they don't beat Paraguay reasonably clearly, I think it's about time to assert that a lot of the condenders for the quarter finals need to have a completely different aggressive strategy to net some goals. Edit: loving the rain, and crowd doing the wave, rather than all blowing vuvuzelas at least. they were reasonably quiet during the anthems at least.

have you ever set a timer? for me, looking at my timer at 40 mins, and an hour and 15 mins feels the same rushing / non-rushing the same floor. exp per hour difference is huge though. try it once, you'll notice the difference :)

Do we even need a Combat Triangle?
tortilliachp replied to Kata_Phfract__the_slayer's topic in General Discussion
fire surge hits a ton, and hits just about always. getting runes is easier than making a melee weapon. gatestones are an essential mage component for rushing, as are cures. Magers are effective against pretty much all the bosses released so far. making a t10 bow is something you can do almost every dungeon, you have arrows bound. rapid attacks are an asset dealing with the random rooms of level 3-5s, but more importantly for completing monolith rooms more rapidly. when you rush, if you hit a relatively easy guard door, hugging enemies instead of taking them all means you can rush longer without assistance. The rare few who have hexhunter bows have the most versatile weapon in dungeoneering, and runescape as a whole. it is incredible. I use range/mage/melee in almost equal amounts in large dungeons, without too much hassle you can always tribrid. -
3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion

everyone is too busy with santas to check masks. santas fluctuate more, flipping is a lot easier for larger profits. Green masks will gain plenty of street once santas hit their first "dip" after this "crash". that's my guess anyway Bob's seem to be gaining massively in street. only like 3 days ago they were selling 2m each, now it's more than 3m. I think it's time to cash bobs into onyxes / crowns soon. glad i've been sniping myself some sets :D -
Do we even need a Combat Triangle?
tortilliachp replied to Kata_Phfract__the_slayer's topic in General Discussion
well, you saw some of the thoughts i have in the tip.it times. However, there is the case of dungeoneering: in dungeoneering the combat triangle works fine. having different styles helps you. monsters, and you in your armour, are weak to different things. one of the primary reasons it works, is that with bound ammo / items and coin drops that remain within the game, ranging and maging isn't too costly. It is in regular runescape. Jagex have already said they are going to fix the combat triangle. it is one of the main features of runescape. we have mage, melee and range. other games have hand-to-hand type combat, sneaking, healers / priests and so on. the thing with our runescape characters is that we can have all skills and all abilities to be all classes. This means they have to be very balanced, and they all need to have different, distinct uses, or everyone will choose one style because it's slightly more efficient. melee is over-powered because it is cheap, not because it does more damage than range or mage in many situations. range does too little damage, mage is too expensive. Hybriding is too easy, as there are too few negative attack bonuses towards other styles, mages can run away from rangers too easily, mages can at least bind/freeze melees in pvp) -
exact same, except i don't alch my arrows. I do start-up run, make do with little essence, cheapest pickaxe/ axe, then loot cash for essence in the first room of killing and make runes. why alch arrows when you don't need to?

as far as what i've picked up around: your best bet is ZMI for exp, not running. unless you have someone who will specifically run for you, that is. you can always pay people in items with street value, to get around trade limits. It may be expensive depending on how you get rid of your junk though. worth looking into your friendslist to see what you can get friends you can trust to do though, so you don't need low value items with street, but can do trades for many inventories of essence. Then, of course, you'd get them to run you ZMI :D

I would personally say first tools at the start of a map, then on a small map i'd only go for food (remember to woodcut a decent log to burn less fish). On a large map i'd buy about 250 rune essence for maging with afterwards. Then i'd save the rest for food before the boss, and food for the rest of my team to save time. with 99 defence (a basic requirement for "high level" in my opinion), you really don't need more armour, especially not when you're running around with your self-fletched gravecreeper longbow, and mage runes that you're using to utilize the combat triangle to its full potential down there. If anything, i'd buy mage gloves and range boots with spare cash, or gear for the style i'm using on the actual boss when i know that. using your money to help the team usually is more effective than helping yourself though, because you do, after all, know what you're doing :D

thanks for the largely positive feedback :) i'm sorry the article was so long, it's a while since i submitted it, even longer since i wrote it. I'm sure i could have managed with a lot fewer words saying the same thing. on the 90% uses melee point: if mage/ range is more effective in more situations, that will change. people will probably do more of all 3, or choose more carefully what they want to pursue. Mage is just too expensive right now, otherwise a lot of people would use it more regularly, the armor could also be improved. Range just needs to do more damage to be of use in many situations. Jagex have already said one of their main priorities is fixing the combat triangle. It works awesomely within dungeoneering, so i have hope they can improve the regular rs as well. However, there are a lot of changes they need to make for that to work.

You mean C6, right? ah yes. i meant c6 5:5 lol :P went a little bit too fast

binds: hexhunter, saggitarian arrows, blood necklace (at level 120 also hood). you can make gorgonite armour for yourself in every dungeon if you have "high level" skills, as this topic is about high level strategy. c5 is always the most efficient exp. At least that's how No excuses, i run keys, x harnas x, green098, shysteph, neo and whats logout rush. I've had the privilege of rushing with all of these at certain points. teammates: if you're 137+ finding a good team is not really a problem in w117. you could always use a cc, or forums in combination, but starting your own team if there's a floor not being advertised works fine. High total / dungeoneering also helps. With good teams, you should always do complexity 5 (it's most efficient). if in a small dungeon, bosses seem to be easier anyway, so you don't really need all 5 for the boss, you can realistically complete it all other than levers / emotions with 4 people. for large dungeons, chances are it's a d/c and they'll be back. if someone quits due to an early death, you haven't lost much time, and can usually find them to restart with, loosing only a tad of exp / hour. If someone advertises a rush, say f 22-30, if you only need f 22, or 22-23 i wouldn't hesitate joining, then leaving when you've done the floors you want. Everyone does it to some degree, and they can easily see what floors you need in the tick-list so they should know what to expect. Designated tools: always designate highest total to tools, if they're not running keys as well. By delegating responsibility, chances are an unknown team-mate will do more than usual. if you're not doing keys, you should either make and take mage runes (for pesky forgotten warriors at guard doors) or bring tools for the skills you have at a reasonably high level. Personally, i bring tools + fire surge + gatestone runes for all large dungeons. gatestones aren't really worth it in small dungeons imo, then it's much more important stocking up on food for the boss than the extra inventory spaces for maximum speed, i think. using gatestones: in larges, whenever it's quicker to use a gatestone, i use one. Usually a gatestone teleport in combination with a home teleport. when the dungeon develops, having different teammembers gatestoning different keys speeds things up, especially if they are guaranteed dead-end rooms far away from other places. gatestones can also be used effectively to avoid combat when you're rushing: using gatestones / home teles to avoid combat areas where you've left creatures alive.

indeed. don't know how good though, because of the matches i've seen, germany has been the only team to use their backs aggressively. that's pretty much been defining in champions league / world cup play since Germany 2006. It'll be really interesting to see when teams like argentina, spain, England and Brazil double on the sides with their backs, for crosses. hard to compare teams before they all play to win though.
-
That's such an exaggeration. England might have had the edge but it wasn't a slaughter. As for the ball thing, "A poor craftsmen blames his tools." If you actually knew the first thing about football you'd of heard there have been plenty of complaints about that ball. according to press here, there's been at least 4 goalkeepers that have complained about every world cup ball pre-tournament without having played a single match with it sinc eth early 1970s The reality of the matter is that Green's mistake can't be put down to the ball either: it went in a perfectly straight line, his hands were angled so any reflected ball was going to hit the goal. This year's ball is lighter than previous ones, so his mistake would have been larger with a normal one: the own goal would have happened even more quickly. that's basic physics. A draw was a fair result, of course everyone is going to hope that their team is better than drawing USA, when the press is having a frenzy (like every world cup) how this time "football's coming home"

The Economist is the only magazine i have a subscription to, probably not what you're looking for. Personally though, i find knowing what's going on in the world every week in terms of policy and economics (with a historical perspective) is essential for understanding the world we live in.

Lacking individual skills? Did you see the runs Johnson was making from right back? Gerrard and Lampard are world class players, and if we keep them fit alongside Rooney we have a real shot of going far. I'm not going to lie and say we played our best tonight, but the goal Green let in was a sucker punch we never recovered from. I think we could've gone on to win two or three nil had it not happened, but as it is a draw wasn't a bad result. Gerard was running the whole midfield for England all night though. Lampard and Terry were completely lost. They were completely taken out by American defenders. What separated Johnson from Donovan for instance? you never had it in the bag before Green either though: it was an even match. Draw is a good result for USA, doesn't matter to England much though: as said before, they will go through, which is all that matters. It did serve as a reality check when compared to how Nigeria / Argentina played today though. You can have 3 world class players on the English team, but when one Nigerian cans top the insane barrage of chances from the Argentinian aggressive line, (5-6 world class players easily), england looked so far from being the winning side.

But what if you live in a 20 m² apartment, and there's been nothing but scorching sun in weeks? And then there's jazz. then you need to go outside, get a bonfire going, and make smores. only some proper smores with cold drink can cure constant summer / sun.

You're kidding... right? No. he misunderstood my first post, so i wanted to make sure he understood my clarification post :) It wasn't directed at everyone -
from possibly the "easiest group in world cup history"? I'd be surprised if they don't both go through, with 2 wins each from now on :S

There's a fallacy in there somewhere. Not sure which one though, I don't keep a list, but if any of the more knowledgeable posters do, please say it... It's interesting that you post this after mentioning how blinded the anti-Israel side is, though. IT is a red herring, specifically an "irrelevant conclusion" fallacy. a) You support it b ) they call themselves a humanitarian flotilla conclusion: you support it therefore [fallacy] you also call it a humanitarian flotilla. My point exactly, if someone calls themselves something and then you support them you agree with what they are calling themselves Thank you tortilliachp for your support  I believe you are using the reasoning fallacy "[bleep] hoc ergo propter hoc", I think that's the term. The incorrect assumption of an irrelevant conclusion due to solely its association. [bleep] hoc ergo propter hoc literally translates into "correlation doesn't imply causation" I see no correlation between supporting the flotilla, and calling it humanitarian (as these are not related in any way, because the flotilla itself claimed they had a different goal). Therefore, you have to imply a correlation to imply causation, which by definition is an irrelevant conclusion because of a simplified assumption in connecting a) and b ) into a conclusion at all. (sorry, theory of knowledge in high school makes me very picky when it comes to these things) Israel63: My point posted out why you couldn't say what you said based on the information you provided. it doesn't make sense. A fallacy is an argument that doesn't make sense. there are different types of these. Another example is that i could say "This apple is red, therefore all apples are red" you make the same kind of mistake in your argument, where you connect things that are not necessarily right to combine into a conclusion. A better example might be for me to say that "you are from Israel, Israel is a Jewish country, therefore you must be Jewish" i know there is no law in Israel that you have to be Jewish, so the argument doesn't make sense. Did you understand that? -
as the commentators put it here: "What England lack are individual skills, without Rooney, what would be left?" draw was fair. bad goalie is bad, goal wasn't lucky. His technique in positioning for the own-goal was terrible. He isn't unlucky in any way, therefore the Americans can't have been particularly lucky. Flat hands, not gripping the ball at all, body not properly behind the ball, he saw the exit of the shot, Green was just terrible in that situation. That doesn't have to do with luck. It's just a bad goalie who couldn't stand the pressure, just like the forwards on the English team couldn't score on 100% chances (mid-keeper hit at least thrice). The Americans couldn't get that far though, but weren't further away from 2-1 than England was. The Americans didn't look worse than the "Best in the world" players like Rooney in my eyes at least.

So if you were mentally challenged, or perhaps in a coma, it would be ok to kill you off because you're an inconvenience? being without brain activity in a coma (being in a vegetative state) would for me be worse than death itself: there would be no purpose to my existence, other than existing. The free-will argument of almost all religions and life stances agrees with me. being mentally challenged is too far a stretch for me to compare. I don't know if i'm okay with "killing" children, but the vegetatively comatose state is for me unlivable, and undignified for anyone to live with / through.
