  1. I'm more of a lurker on the TIF but here's my two cents. I have a few merch clans added to my RS friend's list. Do I buy what they are buying out? No. In fact, I take advantage of them and collect what they are buying and sell it for max price. That's what I did for limps and swamp lizards and I made a fortune (hence my new DFS). I tried working with dragon bones and I couldn't even sell them for minimum. When this happened I realized people are taking down merch clans. Here's some ways I've learned or made myself:[hide=]-Report the auto-talkers advertising their clans! Once the advertisers, hoping for ranks, get muted, they will refuse to advertise, cutting down the overall size of the clan and, therefore, cutting down on the amount of people buying out the item. -Scare tactics. Join open CCs like goldiemerch and tell people that the cap for that item is whatever half way to their goal is. Or tell people something along the lines of "Sick of losing millions? Dump early!" You may find yourself kicked from the chat or added to the ignore list like myself, but hey, it's worth it. -Go without the item for a few days. Once a merched item is nearing it's dump price, all of the leaders of the clans and the more conservative members will begin to dump their goods. At this point, DO NOT BUY. Once the members see the GE graphs showing a price drop, everyone will dump early causing a massive crash. Members of these clans will be upset at the millions they lost and will not try their luck with another merch clan ever again. -Tell gullible rank members (or regular members) a fake cap price for an item. They may foolishly believe you and tell everyone to dump without the leader's permission. That's what I did with swamp lizards (after I sold the ones I caught, of course) and it worked at roughly 9% of their goal. -Put an artificial supply into the market. Gather or collect a lot of the item and sell it at max price. You'll earn a nice profit and hurt merch clans as well .[/hide] What I'm trying to say is price manipulation clans are easily manipulated themselves and if Jagex only takes limited action, we can and must take action. Price-manipulating scammers must be dealt with. Pump and Dump scams happen in the real world ALL of the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gck0lPvWyhE P.S. The "price cap" of Yew Seeds is 200k ;) .
  2. Right now, Bill Blakey, the only musician with an actual name (to my best knowledge), says something quite interesting when you take a ghost speak amulet down to the winding path north-west of Morton and speak to him. He says this: Post your thoughts.
  3. EXCELLENT idea !!! You have my full support!
  4. Full support  . The old emotes were better. If not better by one's opinion, how about you use them once or twice for nostalgic purposes.
  5. Support! I've been campaigning for optional log-in pins for months!
  6. Thank you for the help  . I'll be sure to check that out tomorrow :) .
  7. Quite a long time ago, I earned myself a full set of blue runecrafting robes and a few astral tabs. I've lost my touch and I don't want to drag down my team mates in a real game. If anyone could tell me a 50/50 world that would be great. Thanks.
  8. http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=hunting_guide.htm#net It says the XP one gets from capturing a penguin is raw cod and that the bait is 250 XP.
  9. No pic, no proof. Ask anyone that played RSC after March 2004. Wrong. To prove how stupid it is to say this, no pic, no proof ;)
  10. PVP, clan wars, castle wars, pest control (Post July 2007), and bounty hunter. Summoning and construction (that is what tears is for) Clans. Used to be in a clan - never want to be in one again. Herblore and firemaking. God Wars (except maybe avansies). Pures.

  12. Now I'm not sure when RuneScape was first advertised on Miniclip, but I started playing 15 days before RS2 came out (for f2p that is). It was March 2004. I was nine and a half years old (presently 15). My brother had gotten me to play; his friends got him to play (Miniclip was big at the time so idk). Being nine years old days before RS2 came out, I got lumped in with the "Miniclip generation." I will tell my story to clear the names of at least some of us. I had watched my brother play this game for about a month and a half. Trying to blow it off as stupid, I became more attracted to it by watching it. I finally decided to make an account, naming it after my favorite cartoon at the time . The tutorial had something missing from the RS2 tutorial that I vividly remember: the Wilderness section. It was here that I developed my fear of the Wilderness, which I avoided like the plague. I never had to whine or complain about dying there. the RuneScape 2 tutorial was, however, missing that section. I can proudly say that I never bought GP or macroed. I was the dedicated woodcutter competing with the macroers, selling Yews to get my Saradomin Platebody and my Dragon longsword (I picked and spun flax for that actually). It was in Classic that I learned the "unwritten rules of RuneScape." Classic had a smaller, better community. Macroing, scamming, spot stealing, etc were HEAVILY looked down upon by the community. I often found myself trapping autoers in buldings and making the dwarf south of the mines entrance blocking Icarian Tram. August 3, 2005 - I was devastated. My game had been taken away. Five long, angry rants to JaGEx later, I found myself trying RS2 for the first time ever. Sure, certain features I liked (withdraw X, run, running away, eating during fights, graphics, etc), but the community was terrible. These players broke the unwritten rules and that was new to me. RS2 simply lacked the discipline RSC had. Even a 10 year old learned self-discipline and how to behave maturely in RSC. Sorry for the wall of text, but I really wanted to get my point across. Thank you if you read it all. Bottom line... Not all of us were as bad as you say. I avoided the Wilderness like the plague, I was smart enough to never be successfully scammed, and I NEVER bought GP or macroed.
  13. Toybox could have a use (use as in something Diango can't do) if it allowed players to wear/use holiday items of days-gone-by while in the actual owner's house. I've been playing since March '04 (missed Yo-Yo  because I only played RSC at that time) so I have a lot of holiday items. When I wear them around/use them, I always have that level 60- saying "wot wep tat." and then proceeding to ask me if they can use/have/borrow it. Let them enjoy it for half an hour or so at house parties in world 31 - not a big deal. And I would LOVE if you didn't have to use the whole set to store it. That would be great.
  14. I had a similar problem... I was permanently muted  (now unmuted  ) for going on an Australian server and JOKINGLY saying "U.S.A. owns Aussie." Honestly, I have NOTHING against Australia. It was a joke making up for something else... but that's another story. I feel your pain. How is "U.S.A. owns Aussie." racist? And to stay on topic... I don't take any offense to what you said (all politics aside :wall: ). I laughed when I first read it. My guess would be that there are more p2p members from the U.S. than anywhere else, and JaGEx doesn't want to lose their money from their largest player-base by them (possibly) being offended. And if JaGEx received the report, chances are some overly-patriotic person reported you  , therefore taking offense to what you said.
  15. It's really not so bad for me. Generally, I don't care what people think about me. I started playing RuneScape when I was 9 and a half. I'm nearly 15 now. All of my friends in my inner-circle know I play (and don't care) or play it themselves. Only the kids that play WoW, Xbox360, or PS3 24/7 are upset. As mentioned in an earlier post, I remind the kids that play WoW about the $15/month for a GAME. I also like tho throw in the fact that we get updates WEEKLY and they get updates every 1.5-2 years (and they have to pay extra ). I avoid talking about it in real life, because talking about RuneScape should be reserved for in-game, on the RSOF, or a fansite's forum especially since half my friends have never even been to the site. Bottom line... Don't start conversations about RS irl. If someone asks if you play, go ahead and tell them yeah. If they laugh/get upset, ask them what they play and call them out on that.
  16. Great articles this week! They were really a nice read. Couldn't agree more with the way PvP has effected the economy - everything is dropping.
  17. A link for your convenience: http://www.tip.it/runescape/index.php?page=tarns_lair.htm The bottom of the guide says: "Players who have completed the Smoking Kills quest can acquire points to buy a slayer ring or the ability to make slayer rings. The ring can be used to teleport to the safe area just outside the Terror Dogs room. This teleport can only be used by those who have already navigated the lair themselves." I never entered Tarn's Lair before and I purchased a Slayer Ring which I used to teleport there. Therefore, it is possible to teleport there without having to navigate it at all. [Crew edit: your post is correct, we fixed this in the slayer guide but evidently overlooked the Tarn's Lair guide. Someone will get to this soon.]
  18. Level 55 combat with all F2P quests complete and at least 30 in all F2P skills.
  19. Yes, I have an active account on RSC as well as my brother. He started Feb. 1, 2004 and I started March 14, 2004 (15 days before RS2 came out). Anyways, my name is Hi Hamtaro and my brother's is Jonathanshi. Neither of us have played much since August 3, 2005.
  20. Scum parents who allow their scum kids to break the law. And RWTers in general. But if you talk about actual gameplay, I would have to say Wild Pie and Slayer's respite(m). Both should just be removed from the game forever. What makes you say that?
