  1. I don't know what OTT means, but I'm assuming it's bad. You're talking about the power supply, right? Would something like this be better? OTT = Over the top. A 700W PSU will only pull the amount of watts it needs. SLI 560Ti is a future upgrade option and the motherboard supports it so it's a plus. Get a 500W if you feel you're never going to go SLI. On the HDD thing, yep that's exactly what it does.
  2. Simple matter of googling Linux distros and choosing the one that takes your fancy. Download it and boot from a CD/DVD/USB. I think it's illegal to download Windows even if you have a valid product key, but if your key is valid there's no way Microsoft can find out. Something like this. Once you've got the OS installed on your new computer, follow the video instructions and connect your Laptop HDD to your PC and copy files.
  3. A copy of W7 unless you're dead set on using Linux. Wine's good but not great, and to fully use what you're buying I'd suggest dual booting.
  4. You install the OS and a few programs onto the SSD and everything else on the mechanical disk. SSD are basicly flash memory so no moving parts to limit the speed. You should notice and boost in Windows and program load times. That said, it's a luxury and looking at what you've chosen I'd ditch the SSD and get the 560Ti over the 6850. Here is a comparison of the 2, get the 560Ti and then get a SSD when you have the money. Rechecking I knew I forgot something but couldn't place it. :wall: CPU cooler for if you plan to OC the CPU, that said the provided Intel heatsink is good for upto around 4Ghz. Swap the MB out for the one I linked to save cash, they both provide the same options: XFire/SLI, Lucid Virtu, Smart response, etc...
  5. I just unistalled, went to the link I gave you and reinstalled and got no Babylon thing, the only "extras" was an Ask toolbar. Not sure what you downloaded  Try it again, "]this is the direct download link. Otherwise you can reboot into bios and it'll be listed there. Edit. The model number will be listed underneath if you give it another go.
  6. Either open the case, it'll be written on it somewhere or download CPU-Z and click on the mainboard tab.
  7. Or go to the motherboard's manufacturers page and download the latest. Windows comes with generic drivers for USB, GPU, etc. But they aren't always the best or most up to date ones, that's why the ports work, but it's best to update the drivers.
  8. Ask yourself if you're going to be messing around with custom roms and whether you have the money to spend. To me it looks like an iPad would be better suited to your needs as there are some things, like the music app, that will only worsen your experience of the product if you don't like it to begin with.
  9. Motherboard Case RAM Processor Hard Drive SSD Power Supply Video Card (optional) Disk Drive Total: $1,108.90 Plus shipping. $60 of Mail in Rebaits aswell. HDD prices are what's bumping up the cost. 500GB HDD and a 64GB SSD should see you over with enough storage untill HDD prices come back down. You can either connect this new drive to your laptop through an eSATA port if you have one (means buying a SATA to eSATA cable) and transfer files or take the drive out of your laptop and connect it to your PC once you build it.
  10. OEM CPU will come with no heatsink and less waranty. OEM Blueray burners are a big no as there is no legally free Blueray software to use with it. No need to buy extra cords unless you want cable ties to tidy up and improve airflow, extenders if you buy a huge case, splitters if you add more GPUs, etc... The i5 2500k is great at stock, and in a years time if you feels its sluggish you can OC it easily for an extra boost. The 460 will see you through basicly everything a decent settings and FPS and you can SLI it cheaply enough if you feel its lagging.
  11. The motherboard's decent enough, Xfire/SLI support, a couple of 6Gb/s & USB 3.0 ports, smart response and lucid virtu from the z68 chipset. Spend the extra 5$ and get the 2500k, even if you don't overclock it now in the future a 30$ aftermarket heatsink will give you a nice boost in performance. On the HDD front, look at local stores that may not have updated stock prices yet as HDD are crazy expensive now. If you feel up to it you can buy an external HDD and rip off the encasing, just make sure to do your research on which you buy to know what drive is inside. 700W PSU is overkill, get something along the lines of these: CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 OCZ ZS Series 550W Or a 650 if you plan to SLI the 460's in the future. For the monitor I'd recomend selling the TV and buying a decent 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor, connect the PC through a DisplayPort and the Xbox through HDMI.
  12. Been like that for atleast a couple of months now.
  13. Mechanical drives can't use the full 6Gb/s so there's no need to specifically buy one, depends on prices. SSDs on the other hand will be limited by SATA II.
  14. MSI Afterburner can be used to measure load, temps, and even OC your card. Turn on AA and monitor what happens, if it's too much you'll see the load shoot up and a drop in FPS.
  15. It's pretty much the same as what happened with the video maker guy that I can't remember the name of... Waste of time in my opinion, why would I bother watching someone else play when I can play myself and have more fun?
  16. Waking up right as 1 of my 3 other flatmates decides to use the bathroom to shave, shower, do their hair all at once, meaning I have to wait 1/2 an hour minimum to pee. I have needs that are hard to hold in people!
  17. Reminds me of Klariza Clayton from Skins.
  18. I truly love people who are smarter than me. Converting it into word removed the white boxes. Word starter can handle subsrcripts/ superscripts/ most greek letters/ dots above letters/ most square root signs! Pretty much the only thing it cant handle are fractions and some greek letters which can be gotten by changing the font. Gonna try saving it in other programs :D You made my day Glad I could help :)
  19. Try converting it to a .doc file, it works for broken .pdf files that Adobe wont open, not sure about white outs. http://convertpdftoword.net/

Just read that the Nexus One isn't getting ICS, time to research CyanogenMod I guess...
  21. Runs like crap, most phones on the market aren't ready for how demanding it is on resources. But it's pretty neat. TBH I wouldn't pay for it yet until the tech meets where it should. Like I said it runs pretty good on my Nexus One and it's not exactly a brand new phone so all these dual core ones coming out should be able to run it decently. Just playing the demo version has almost convinced me to buy it for the PC, I just need to get the time to try out the Multiplayer mode first before I blow 15 on it.
  22. "Leech is buying more gold from india" :wall:
  23. Is that directed at me? The links I posted are just comparisons of the 2 CPUs. If you want I can post you the links for the parts, just tell me which build you're wanting. Both i5 2500k / i5 2400 GPU Motherboard W7 & HDD bundle PSU Case RAM CD drive The RAM is a 'This week only offer' that expires on Wednesday so if you order afterwards it may go up in price but there is almost always a 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz set on offer so you can swap them out. If you're unsure update your topic or PM me for help.
