Oldtimer in need of advice and tips for getting back on track
After yesterday's bot nuke, getting back into the swing will be much easier. :^_^:

25-Oct-2011 - Bot-Nuking Day: Making RuneScape Fairer and More Fun!
Given the proliferation of bots throughout the game over the last year, it's not overly surprising that so many of the online "players" at any given time were mostly bots. I think there's a lot of people who left because of bots who are simply waiting for a bit to see how effective this initiative will be over time and, if it is (and I certainly hope it will be), eventually some of those who left will begin to filter back. Word of the success will spread and will help bring in new players. As the old saying goes, "this is going to get worse before it gets better". We've been through the worse, now things will start to get better.

Jagex Is Not Done Yet With Its Anti-Bot Efforts
I wouldn't mind a new Xbox. I would -- I've already got kids yelling at the TV in one room. I don't need another ... <_< That's why my kids have their TV/play room in the basement. :^_^:

More often than not, it's a scam. That, and Jagex's ambiguous stance on trust games being "against the spirit of the game" maks it sound like they're trying to avoid dealing with it all together.

Kaida23's Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero!
So I logged in today to see for myself the results of Operation: Clusterflutterer firsthand, and let me say I was not disappointed. I didn't have to hop worlds a dozen times to find a free spot, and when I checked the Mining Guild, even on w1, there was almost no one there. Also, for the first time in I don't know how long, I actually engaged in idle conversation with those around me while skilling. Might this be an unexpected side effect of the great bot purge of 2011? The rebirth of communication between players? I certainly hope so, as that is one aspect of the game I've missed the last couple of years. It's nice to speak with friends and clanmates, but striking up a conversation with the person next to you simply because they're there was always kind of fun. Especially when fishing or woodcutting. Perhaps that will occur more often now that we're not all worried that everyone around us is a bot. Here's hoping today's bot nuke will continue to be effective for a long time. Patience, Grasshopper.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
Jagex have said that they have a long list of accounts they have been watching. Most likely they've been waiting until nuke day to start banning them. Edit: I just checked and my Mining rank has gone up 300 since this morning without playing. Maybe they are banning the accounts they've been watching.

Top 250 F2P Skill Total List
I can't help but wonder how much the list is going to change due to the bot nuke. :-k

Jagex possible starting up selling in game items?
Page 50 Monster had a snack, more than likely. That hadn't even occurred to me. I guess I've gotten too used to TIF keeping everything.

Top players.
Wait. What are these "girls" you speak of?

They've had this on the foreign language servers for some time now. Glad they've finally imported it to the English servers.

Veteran's Cape anyone? <_< Hopefully the results of Operation: ClusterFlutterer will make up for it.

2011 Golden Joystick Awards
Wait, what reward? I wasn't aware of any announcements about a reward for voting.

The F2P General Discussion Thread
Fair or not, honestly I wasn't surprised. The only time we get the same treatment as members is during the holiday events...and even that has changed. I agree with OrTradeMe, getting rid of the bots will be reward enough for me.

Kaida23's Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero!
I think you missed a 0 there. I still have a little over 1000k xp left. I know what I'm going to do when I'm done, but I'll wait until then to tell everyone about it. I have been buying up needed resources while prices are still low though. If prices do start going back up, I don't want to get stuck. Thanks. I've been getting lots of compliments on them. Thanks. It's slow going, but I'm getting there little by little. I knew it! :^_^:

My account is locked beyond repair!
I hate to say it, but boris is probably right. Have you looked up your character on the high scores? If it's not there, then it was unfortunately banned and starting over is probably your only choice. Edit: I just looked up "Silver24 7" and he's still on the high scores, so at least we can be sure you weren't banned.

21-Oct-2011 - Bot-Busting and Bonuses For All
Maybe that's what the Golden Scythe is for - to commemorate the deaths of tens of thousands of bots.

21-Oct-2011 - Bot-Busting and Bonuses For All
I'm willing to accept less than 98% elimination (although that would be awesome if they can achieve it), but not rollbacks. They need to show that they are truly serious about botting and bring back perma bans for all infractions. The rollbacks were a horrible idea and were simply a step towards validating bots in the game. A strong stance, without wavering, will go a long way towards resorting the players' faith in Jagex.

Jagex possible starting up selling in game items?
[qfc]16-17-219-63297448[/qfc] /thread? That QFC doesn't seem to work anymore. Did they delete it? Wouldn't simply locking it have been sufficient?

21-Oct-2011 - Bot-Busting and Bonuses For All
I'll admit that it's mostly the Asian games that use this kind of software, but American and European publishing companies have been quick to accept it's use as necessary. Spyware in the name of game security isn't new. The problem with GameGuard is that it sounds good in theory but botters have cracked it as well. MapleStory runs GameGuard (or used to anyway) and it was one of the most botted games I'd ever played. I don't know if GG has gotten any better, but it certainly wasn't very effective a couple of years ago.

21-Oct-2011 - Bot-Busting and Bonuses For All
Except if they made us sign a user agreement where we agree to have it installed. After all, who really reads those things? I'm sure they wouldn't be the first company to install something like that and hide behind the EUA.
