  1. I think that saying that the green color relates to freshness, then saying that you don't really have to relate the color to the name is a bit contradictory.... Before someone identifies with it being a young company, they will (I guarantee you) first relate to the name "fenix". The idea that the green symbolizes that "fresh, young company" is lost in the feathers that look like leaves. The green only adds to this confusion. Colors mean alot of different things and I'm glad you were able to relate some color to it, but I too think that red/orange/magenta might have been better suited here. I also agree that the blue in there is way too distracting from the green and black scheme. It's cool that you throw some variety in there, but not when it overpowers the design. That's just what I think. Maybe have a larger feather "whisping" over the top of the FenixDesign text or something... use negative space to create a stem for the feather... just some ideas.
  2. Haha. I love your language with him... n33b... n33d34t.... d00d... Are you guys naturally [developmentally delayed]ed or do you have to try that hard?
  3. Bah.. you can do all that in XSI. :-P One thing I love about XSI is the awesome speed of character rigging... I can rig a character and animate him so fast it's amazing. I think I could rig up a good 4 step walk cycle of a character in about 2minutes.
  4. Just go invest in a nice dSLR and you'll be fine. I should be getting one soon enough. I too have a sony 5.0mp... but it just doesn't cut it.
  5. No, Maya sucks for making sigs, don't go try and download it. The learning curve is so steep that most of you will piss your pants before even opening it. I have played with the program once, and it seems alot like XSI. It's basically personal preference from what I've heard. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. Last one looks nice. I like how the palm tree breaks up the lines of the ocean... give it better variety in rhythm I think. It's too bad you don't have a better camera, you seem to have the locations covered...
  7. It was a daily sketch assignment on a different forum I'm a part of. "Memories of Russia" or something like that.. I forget now.... It was the first thing that came to my mind, besides the Kremlin.
  8. Hey Lady... I've been banned for 3 years now, want to unban me? I'll make you a really pretty one. On second thought, playing Runescape again would be the worst mistake of my life.
  9. Please keep in mind it's a work in progress... Col - What should I do with the 'stache? I think it's because I haven't done the lips yet and I haven't really shaded the stache, it's just flat hair. I don't know, when I finish more maybe you can tell me what I'm missing. I'm going to look up alot of Stalin pictures and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the comments.
  10. Rendered some hair... not quite done but this will be where I start from. Just alot of strokes with a 1px brush... and yes my wrist hurts. Probably the last update for today... as I said; my wrist hurts. Total so far... I'd say about 1 hour?
  11. Yes. Painted in Photoshop... Any crits? I could use some ideas or pointers if anyone has any... :)
  12. Thanks; Here's a quick color wash.... //edit - Quick eyeball fill and badges/stars...
  13. Over the next few days I'm going to be working on a picture of Joseph Stalin. Hopefully this will show some of you that are interested the ways some of us painters go about doing things... Here is the first sketch, and a reference was used. The next updated should have some color splashed on and a few other things...?
  14. 1. You didn't use it when I gave it to you when you were still in BK. 2. You could have asked me to change it. Either way you are a loser. :)
  15. Fixed the hair and a few other minor issues.. Still isn't completely up to par, but I'll play with it some more later... It's like 2:30am right now, just finished up a big poker tourny.... Old:
  16. Yeah your request is next, I'll try to find some time. Keiphus you finally got off your lazy * and did something. Make more. edit: The hair on the left shouldn't be flowing _/ outwards, it should go in \_ similar to the orignal picture. That way you can get some flow going and the hair doesn't seem so big and messy, although the wind source may be coming from the bottom it doesn't look right because the image is static. Also the typo is well place, but the "you designed yourself" text seems a bit too long. Minimise it perhaps. Try to add some effects on the girl so that she is absorbed into the sig. At present, it just looks like girl+(bg+text). The text and bg is well done though, excluding the legnth of the "you designed yourself" typo that is. Also the lighting on the left doesn't match with image, theres a bright glow, yet the girls hair shows no sign of light. And thats the same with the right, theres a glow on her hair, yet the bg gets darker. Im not sure who's crit you wanted, but I gave you mine. Plus I give you crit like this because I know you can take it, and use it. Now get to work  I love you. <3 Ok where do I start... Ahh yes. That's one thing I noticed about your signatures. The female always blended in very well with the background, something mine doesn't do. That's item number one on the fix list. I agree the text is kinda out there, I'll see what shrinking it down can do. The lighting issues are something I never even took into consideration; thanks for noticing. I need to start thinking about these things more often when I design. I seem to be able to execute, but concept and development are things I need to work on. I'll post an updated version as soon as I can. Thanks alot, I really appreciate it.
  17. I'll post some variations as soon as I get some commentary please... heh...
  18. I agree. People think I'm an [wagon] but that's only because the first time I offer constructive criticism they come up with some bs about how they are too tired to fix it. You don't.
  19. Yeah, I guess if it was designed for print it was a failure from the get-go. ;) Many people believe the idea of "If it doesn't look good in B&W, it's not a good logo." This would lose its spunk if printed in B&W.
  20. Just one thing I saw... The volumetric light coming from the top of the signature is pointing (if this page were a compass) South-Southeast. But the light source based on the illumination of the ocean floor seems to be coming from South-Southwest... A bit confusing. I would maybe try adding some more light rays coming from that same direction, and definitely flip the other ones around. It's dark, yes, but maybe brighten it up just a hair? I think more lights coming from maybe where your name is would accomplish this. Other than that, I don't know how you went about brushing that floor, it really does look amazing. Good work. Would like to see more.
  21. I made your [wagon] the most kickass smilie sig this board has ever seen and you never even used it. Loser.
  22. Oh, and let me say something about that glow. I think it's a cool concept, it's one of the few places it would look good. It doesn't look like some nasty filter pile, it's a well used glow. However, unless this is going to be STRICTLY a web company, ie, this logo will never be printed; I strongly suggest you don't use the glow. I know from experience that glows and shadows print horribly on business cards and letter heads, etc. Just thought I would throw that in there.
  23. Would be cool to see the tail curve up and loop or something. Very nice concept, it's coming along. :)
  24. In that case, Froth..... Hope I don't get in trouble for this, but I tried my hand at the style... Hope you also don't mind the extra hair I added in, I think it looks a bit nicer, and it makes me feel like I did more work than just throwing some stuff on there. Let me know if you want any ideas fixed up on it.... :)
  25. I wouldn't go that far. We had some good work back then, but entangle's modeling far exceeded ours. Especially considering our medium and technique; bryce and boolean, respectively.
