Perception... It's a thing that kills and creates communities, legends, gossip and lies. To clear up any fact i'll go on the record and say that Everton is still banned from the forums. It was never appealed - therefore this is ban evading. As a user who has been on the end of a permanent ban, I thought about playing devil's advocate and saying that despite his lack of respect for the rules and blatant disregard for the appeal process, he should be welcomed back due to this warm welcome. However choices are not so easy. Tip.it has had at one point a reputation for biased moderating in the early days of 2003-2004 - simply removing this topic makes it look like the staff is covering up something. We have nothing to hide. Rules were broken repeatedly. Appeals were not made for the forums, and as a result it is obvious that Everton must be rebanned. It's not a matter of strictness, but a matter of integrity and policy. We are lax on our rules here and we have rebuilt a damn good clan section. This is where I make my stand. You broke rules again and again and again. We gave you chances, and chances, you slapped us in the face each time. You - I will credit - tested our limits for what is acceptable and how far we were willing to go in setting a laxer moderation policy. You are banned. You seem to not get it - you never do. If you want to appeal, you may appeal in 6 months time. Until then you will be banned everytime with no warning. This will be left as a statement to the public. A statement of the facts and proof that we have nothing to hide. Snce I've never been one for the usual tip.it line of policy crap - let me write this to a clanner as a clanner. You were warned and did not heed it - until you can wait your time and appeal like everyone else you will be rebanned, we do not show special treatment to others and you, Everton, are NOT excluded from that. ~Das PS: Your stunt here also shows me you're not serious about that IRC appeal you made. And in the red corner of this fearsome three way weighing in at 255 pounds - your world heavyweight champion - DAS Being objective and unbiased: I can't think a user here in my time asides you when it comes to clan dealings in the clan forums that has been questioned more as far as hidden agendas - and i'm pretty sure everyone has some sort of agenda - but yours does consistently and constantly make your peers question your motives. At the end of the day that's an issue that's not really great for public discussion, but it does have influence on who we bestow our event leadership to. I'm going to use the first part of this quote as a reason for telling you no in the future when you ask why you cannot do X,Y,Z or the sort with the war. Although every leader wants to promote his or her clan, they need to be mature enough to put aside promotion of the day and focus on leading a FUN EVENT. If you do a good a job unbiasedly leading people who are looking for a clan, they will probably see who you belong too. As a leader of two clans and a member of a once top pking clan I'm a firm believer that the good clans don't need to advertise - Ten bucks says if a warlord from DF led he wouldn't have promoed. And your guide was very authoritative and didn't issue a disclaimer that it was unofficial - hence our editing in big red scarlet letters - You're guide also lacked (At least originally and to my knowledge until the war) important information, such as the need to wear clan capes.. which lead to lots of confusion and pissed off tip.iters. I don't recall the need to write a guide in depth as you did - it was largely common sense. We are busy and we take and treat this like a fun event, so if anything a basic information post would be all we desired. Either way it's been a year, and we felt your guide was doing more harm in confusing people than helping without the disclaimer. I'd disagree - then again no offense - you take this event and make it into more than just a fun event. That's all it is really. A large majority of our support base will either be people who have been in a clans and therefore dont need to know, or skillers who haven't and will never understand it until they live it. Interneting note - again it's been a year (so the fact people are so up in arms about a bloody guide and a war we won thats FUN kinda worries me) but I could of swore you told me that you would NEVER promote advertising like that in that situation. I agree - to me it's a sign of maturity that comes with leadership - I don't think many leaders in the position you were in would of done that. I don't think anyone "drove" you to advertising. Anyone who has been to a steel war knows how spammy chat is - to be able to read and reply to someone asking your clan is pretty far fetched. The notion that others drove you to "advertise" is absurd. Infact others were asked to add the generals and turn public to friends, which made your advertising "worse". Biggest site to show up = winner. Corr kicked our [wagon] when it was corr vs tip.it and I'm sure had Zybez showed up, they would have given us a serious challenge. Thats great - I'm glad you don't regret anything, Editorial panel or not - doesn't mean you will take part in another steel war on our behalf if there is one again. And after your flippant attitude on this post, I can pretty much safely say that it won't happen again. The Conclave in it's current form I don't believe was your idea. I do believe the original idea was perceived to be a bad idea - earning ugly names like the "breeding ground of corruption" because it heavily favored tyour clan and was rather biased towards smaller clans alienating the larger ones - thats been like 3-4 years? Objectively - WTF - would dbz be jealous of - he led wars, has had a tip.it clan involved with the community, clan mod, CIC leader, big part of the CIC - Daresay short of writing an editorial he's done some impressive stuff around here as well. it's a sad day when one of the few clan's i'd ever consider joining at this point in my runescape career close. I've had a chance to know many DI - Past and present and they are a good bunch of people, many friends. While many may not agree with Brians choice - Since myself and my co-leader did the same thing he did - I have only the utmost respect for him going out his way. DI is an end of an era - and sadly I dont ever think the clan world will be the same again. DI is one of the top 5 clans all time on my personal shortlist and one of the true all time greats with the best of the best of all eras. ~Das
