  1. Magic trees. That's what my friend does all the time ever since he got 75 wc from ivy. Not the greatest method, but hey it's afk.
  2. Good luck pure maging in dunge outside of teams.
  3. Give some other skills a try. Like, your melee skills, and things like woodcutting. Give quests a try. Definitely a good way to pass the time. They're fun too! |^_^| Picking up arrows isn't that daunting of a task really, if you're a good right-clicker that is. And a lot of high levels choose to kill chickens because they're surprisingly good cash. Reasons I have yet to be heard of, but mainly because of their feathers and bones. Good luck on the rest of your runescape journey! The noob days are the best (for me at least). :P
  4. Oh lawd... the many ways you guys do all that fun stuff.
  5. No matter how weird these adverts turn out to be, Jagex still has no choice but to put them there. A company is a company, and they will do everything they can to gain lots and lots of mooneyz. =P~ Also how does this affect your gameplay in any way? Be grateful they don't put one there while Runescape is loading...

Gandalf, if blue partyhats were max gp, what would Christmas crackers be then? =s Actually, the street prices for most rares are well above max gp, so nevermind.
  7. Exactly. Why should the top dungers be banned just because they're ultra-pro at rushing? I doubt they knew monster limit was a bug anyway. Though for some bosses, monster limit can be a big hassle... Gravecreeper being one of them. And for Necrolord, I hear you can tele out of the boss room to make all the skeletons disappear. I just hope the top dungers get unbanned soon... this is ridiculous.

Heh, sorry for the late response. Got caught up in some school stuff, so I had no time to post lolz. Well, ok that's a given. If they want to play the game they want, I say let them do what they want. I won't mind their business. However, my point is, during the time you sit at a bank, you are losing out time that could be spent on doing other stuff, like skill training. Heck if you're sitting in a bank, it's a good opportunity to train bank skills like fletch, herb, and magic. I'm not saying they SHOULD be doing that (some people can't even handle chatting and bank skilling at the same time), but since this thread is about efficiency, that's what they should have been doing. I could go on with opportunity cost, but that's way too complicated for me to explain, and I think there's a guide on it already. @ Peregrin: When most people talk about what method is better to do, they always assume you have the best conditions at your current levels. That is why nobody really takes enjoyability into account when making efficiency-practicality calculations - they assume you will enjoy said methods. And of course, fun is a qualitative factor, and with qualitative factors come subjectiveness. If TDs drive somebody crazy, does that make TDs a bad method? Of course not, it's just saying you don't like it, so you choose not to do it therefore you THINK it's inferior. That's what starts up all these debates - most, if not all people, factor in personal experience for their support, which ends up in a lot of multiple-page wars (like this thread, for instance).
  9. Lol pink... I'm glad I don't normally play on weekdays lol. And how better is a gravite 2h for normal training purposes? For pures, should it be used over the rune scimitar?
  10. You should note that all revenants give only 0.1xp per life point dealt (1xp per 10 lp). All dungeoneering bosses give 0.5xp per life point dealt (5xp per 10 lp). I hope this helps, and good luck with the rest of your guide!
  11. Why just 360? I want a Runescape on the DS (obviously with options to wifi), Earthbound/pokemon style. But if there's a console version of Runescape, I doubt it will do horribly well. Since it's so online based and updates continue to flourish, the online community will still be vastly superior.

I really don't get why people even keep rares... status symbols I guess, but you can use that money on other skills, you know. Other money sinks. I understand that some people are smart and are actually keeping these rares since they keep rising in price, but most are just buying them for the hell of it.

People who can bind 3 items in dungeoneering. Yes, I'm really that desperate. I'm also jealous of members. I can never get members on my own acc for my life... man I really want to experience occult/warped floors.
  14. Yeah I made that guess, because on my first attempt with Har'Lakk, I didn't know what to do and I made a lousy 2 deaths. -.- Oh well, good times. It's a good idea to have full prayer points before attempting Har'Lakk. Praying magic causes him to mostly use that grey sludge attack, and portals appear far less often. I've beaten Har'Lakk in a solo without losing a single LP before, so you can count on this method. And grats on 54 rc! Manual group gatestone teleport ftw?
  15. Kicking pretty much kills your "doubled" exp for that dungeon. Besides, we may need them for mime and switches. ;)

Well, I still think it's worth arguing because there are many different definitions and contexts of "efficiency". We're not necessarily trying to "win", it's a discussion. Opinions, opinions, opinions. We just "choose" to word our opinions in a way that it becomes flamebait, because it fosters more heated discussion, therefore it's a more "efficient" way to gain post count. No. That's not what this thread is made for. It's made for DISCUSSION. We're not flaming each other for no reason. We're doing so because there are points that we disagree on each other. And I don't see how jrhairychest called anybody an idiot or noob... he's just saying people aren't what they are because they CHOOSE to be inefficient. People have different play styles - if you choose to be inefficient, that's fine. I don't care, as long as you don't shove it in my head. The efficient players aren't trying to shove their opinions onto you, either. They're just stating what good, reliable methods you should be using, and what you should be avoiding.

Can't they chat while they are skilling? That's what clan chats and private chats are for. Heck, even public chat if they're in the same area. Possibly also stuff like MSN or even on the phone if you really want to go that far. And that was also the point of my other post. Some people may choose not to do certain methods because it doesn't suit them, for whatever reasons. But in some cases it's also they don't have the skills/knowledge to do so, so practicality is lost there. And this has nothing to do with getting over your manhood, what are you on with?
  18. Ah, I see. Alright, I'll agree, skiller dunge is faster exp than normal dunge. It's only effective if you're good at keying though, and since I'm crap at that, it's not worth it for me.
  19. It varies on the number of skillers though. Is it a "1 killer, 4 skillers" dunge? The way how dungeoneering exp levels is calculated is really confusing.
  20. If you can complete a regular large half the time than it takes for you to complete a skiller large, then skiller large isn't worth it. In this context, you can have multiple people gating specific doors that don't have keys, tooling (since they can actually tank damage), fighting monster hordes, and killing the boss. And really, doing all this is much faster as a team, and it's easier than it sounds. So, are you saying JUST the double exp compensates for the guy doing this all solo, which in theory can take much longer? Again, the disadvantages may be bigger than they're thought to be. If people really can clear 5-man larges half the time than 5-man skiller large, then what's the purpose of skiller dunge? More exp per reset?

[hide=Large quote] This is a contradiction to what you've previously posted, below in case you forgot. Are you now saying the best method is one that really matters to the individual player, rather than 'you are not efficient so you are WRONG!!'? [/hide]I wasn't contradicting with myself. Obviously you should try to take the best route possible, since doing so would save lots of time. And as I posted earlier, time is money, and money is an object. But would the best and most efficient methods always be practical? For most skills yes, but then you have things like boss killing and PvP, which involves a high level of risk and skill. I don't think the majority of the Runescape population is skilled or smart enough for these activities. And what I was implying in my other post... notice the people just sitting around, chatting, doing nothing? They are the time-wasters. Instead of just chit-chatting there, why not train a skill, and do your chit-chatting in a clan chat? Like I said, time is money. You're not playing Runescape "just for the hell of it". There has to be a reason.
  22. Might be just me and my awful keying skills, but wouldn't the "1 main, 4 skillers" setup take longer to finish dungeons than normal 5-man large dunge? Because you're larging an entire dungeon, and you don't get teammates to help you kill things, open doors in corners, etc. And since most skillers just leech in the main room and don't prepare anything... I'm not saying skiller dunge is not efficient since it works for the top-end players. I'm just stating, how do all these disadvantages make skiller dunge better than regular? They don't prevent things like member doors and puzzles, and because of this, 5-man larges can be cleared faster in f2p than in p2p. Perhaps, the time it takes to clear the 5-man large makes up for the halved exp, despite bonus rooms. This can be a possibility, but I don't know anyone in f2p who does 5-man large rushes. Even our own clan insists on clearing everything except dead ends (unless it's easy monsters).
  23. If every level 3 with 50+ dunge binds a fractite pickaxe/hatchet and helps us do all that, then I wouldn't even be complaining. But I've dunged with level 3's before, and you wouldn't BELIEVE the number of ways they can sit in the main room. I ragequitted halfway because knowing that they're just leeching on my exp made me mad. Yeah. I really do hate on freeloaders that much. <_<
  24. What boss did you die THREE TIMES on? Har'Lakk the Riftsplitter? As a side note, don't buy exp from the rewards trader. Just, don't do it. It's not worth the loss of tokens.
  25. The best melee weapons in f2p are as follows: Spear > 2h =~ maul > longsword =~ battleaxe > rapier >>>>>>>>>>>>>> warhammer/dagger (they both fail) However, since you only want to train strength, the spear and longsword are out. Spears can only train controlled and defense, and while longswords CAN use slash aggressively, its stab is in controlled stance, so you're better off using the battleaxe or rapier. And of course, for ranged, it's longbow >>>>>>>>>>>> shortbow. Speeds of longbows are buffed, and they have MUCH higher accuracy too. Magic, it's catalytic staff =~ fire staff (do you want saved runes or extra damage?) > air staff > earth staff > water staff. But honestly, being a pure in dungeoneering can be really disadvantageous. Since the monsters are so accurate and strong, you'll end up getting hit a whole lot. You're better off training dungeoneering on a main, high-leveled account, unless you're going for a gravite 2h or something.
