  1. Unique does not mean better mate. Never said better? I just liked how unique runescape was, all the mmo's followed each others footsteps, and it looks like Runescape has started to follow too. I agree. This will appeal to those who like superficially hitting higher. Notice that the game is being more targetted to ADD little kids. In the end it's just the same though. If monsters take the same time to kill etc. It's a shame all that is unique about RS is just being revamped. Clearly there was something appealing about what they were doing before as it attracted so many players. I think they should have foccused on word of mouth. The best guide to this game is still a experienced friend showing you the ropes. No NPC, or tutorials or hitting fewer 0's can replace that. Plus it's still annoying if you hit a bunch of 1's instead of 0's.
  2. Does anyone else find it disturbing that they mention they player test the game with new players? What about loyal veteren players? Why aren't their voices heard. Why aren't they asked to player test and give feedback for content? HP should have been changed for the players already playing RS. The main concern players had was that current weapons are overpowered, and HP and weapon damage needed to be tweaked to allow higher level weapons and armours. I find it confusing that they are focussing so much on changing the gameplay mechanics of this game to favour new players and low level players. When players have consistently been pointing out the lack of content for higher levels. The game needs more balance as there is far too much lower level content already. Just look at the number of armour sets for someone with 40 defense. Yeah because damaging someones constitution stat's but not linking it to lifepoints is such a great idea.
  3. DIY you do have two weeks. Also I woudln't blame the buy-out all on merchants. It's normal players stocking up.
  4. Not all skillers supported the changes to gameplay with removal of pk. There was plenty of outcry by skillers about that change. Let's not get into that old debate. I don't understand how Jagex can think that this free xp weekend is a good idea. They are so out of touch with players sometimes. If the only options players have is to 'adjust or quit' then no wonder they need to lure people to join members by offering free exp.
  5. The balance seems to be lacking in this update. It does negate prior hard work and accomplishments by players. It's a slap in the face to those players who did it the hard way. Jagex has been so careful in adding exp mulitpliers and frankly stingy for some rewards. For instance the Familarization charms updates has so many hoops and is limited to once a week. I also remember when metal dragons came out they drop bars and players requested that those bars be noted so it would be easier to keep in invent, but at that time Jagex decided that would 'overpower' the rewards too much. This free exp weekend update seems too hypocritical. To just open the doors on a particular weekend to give free exp for nothing but just logging on seems unfair. I also don't see why the double exp has to be so complicated it starts off at 2.7xp and then drops continuously til it's 1.1 xp 10 hours later. Why not just simplify it and give 2x exp for the first 10 hours. Also 10 hours overall seems to long. At least if it were only for 1-2 hours it wouldn't have had that much impact. I view it as a blatant cash grab. To get more members. It's a shame. The game has become easier over time, but with this 10 hour double exp weekend it's just reached a ridiculous level of easy. It's like they dont' play their own game and have no idea what their players are like. They came out and said this update would not affect prices, but it's clear to everyone that skilling items are increasing in price. It's inevitable and logical they would. There's a sudden spike in demand now. I don't support this update, they are babying their players too much by offering up free exp. Also if they have chosen this path they better go back and review all of their quest rewards. It seems ironic that doing every quest and having a quest cape gives LESS reward exp than if you were to just play for 10 hours on the double exp weekend. I wouldn't have thought it possible but 2010 'updates' are becoming worse than 2009.
  6. I can tell you didn't get an A in your ethics class. Merchant clans do this all the time. Maybe not with bolts but plenty of other items. Exactly, imho this bolt bug is harmless to others. Bolt prices were too high. Bolt's are a consumable. The market will reach an equilibrium for bolts in probably less than 6 months. It's not like the extra coins entering the economy from bolts will significantly affect the market. It will be a minor effect. There are so many coins already entering this game through alching, bots, drops and all that.
  7. Are you on crack? In this game we kill other players for fun. In the real world PVP would be illegal. Another person brought up racism, at one time it was legal and encouraged to be racist. Morals change with time, nothing is absolute. Cheating on an online game is like telling a white lie. It doesn't harm anyone.
  8. Because it's fun and tempting. Risk is fun and if your account is banned you can just start up another. As for jagex figuring out who is cheating and who is not, they can't even catch bot's that make the same repetitive movements for hours on end. And bug abuse is not hurting anyone. The RS economy is already messed up.
  9. They most likely have a main. Just wait for someone to ask for help, instead of assuming they need help. Also giving someone the trade limit in coins doesn't really do much if they are truly poor.
  10. Of course. I'll be training some of the more pricey skills once the new skill comes out. As everyone will be training the new sklll I hope raw material prices will fall. Specifically I want cheaper summoning seconds. It's also a good time to pick up rares as they tend to fall as well. I would still train these because with other skills we've seen good updates for higher level untradeable items. I think firemaking needs a huge makeover so it might end up being useful. I'm not levelling firemaking but I do have the logs for 99 firemaking. The best skill to train at the moment? Construction is the skill that should be trained atm, with stealing creation hammers it's the most cost-effective it's ever been.
  11. 2009 was the year of the most bugs we've ever seen. No coincidence. The game is more complex now. QA may have more work but on the development end tweaking existing content is still much easier than making new content. I still want new content to be a prioriity and focus for Jagex again. Not tweaks repackaged as updates.
  12. Are you a new player? Jagex has always been doing tweaks AND new content simultaneously. It's just that in 2009 they were focussing more on tweaks. They had a whole year and while a few parts of the game were updated most weren't even touched. I just want to know if Jagex is planning on doing a two-week new update cycle again. They can do tweaks to their hearts content on the alternative weeks when there is no new content. Also new content takes more development time, tweaks are easier to do as they are just tweaking existing content.
  13. Because in 2009 they were clear in stating what that year would hold, for better or for worse we were warned. This year so far we haven't been told anything about 2010 in a clear official statement from Jagex. There will be a new skill. They will continue to focus on social marketing and the community. 2009 was the year for tweaks to existing in-game content being most of the updates. I hope that doesn't continue this year as the game needs new content. Will they be returning to their twice a week update schedule for new content?
  14. 2009 started with a clear statement of intent from Jagex. So far I'm unclear as to what 2010 will hold besides a new skill and a focus on social marketing and community events. They seem to be continuing to tweak old content. I'm very disappointed in the way they are changing things already this year and they have barely done anything. The quest cape is now too much of a combat cape, that wasn't neccessary IMHO. Minor tweaks to agility and a few skils aren't exactly new content. Taking exisiting content that is useful such as fighter torso and nerfing it, they really know their player base. (Changed back now within a couple of hours but still.) Will we continue to see Jagex coasting by on minor RS in-game updates that are changes or tweaks to existing content? While social community events are okay what is the point of marketing something when there is no real new content? Also why is so much social marketing done off the rsof, it's forcing us to interact with them in ways we may not want to. They seem to be patting themselves on their back regarding their social marketing this year, but was it really that successful? The cryptic clue was mediocre and pointless IMHO. Yet another item to add to the millions I already don't use on RS. Players want and expect updates. I'm tired of tweaks. Especially when there is so much that needed to be fixed that was barely addressed in 2009. On a side note where are the news archives on RS's website? Why call it archives when it only holds news from 2010.................!
  15. Nice string of updates lately. Finally the quest cape combat level requirement rose. I hope the reward xp can be used for summoning, and that this is an oversight or do jagex developers themselves not view summoning as a combat skill.
  16. A magnifying glass is the stupidest reward ever. They should just include it as a random drop for tt clue hunters. I'd rather do a real clue with potential rewards instead of this so called event. I did this on one of my f2p accounts and refuse to do this on my main. I have enough items from previous years when the events actually had decent rewards. My POH slot for magnifying glass will forever remain empty.
  17. Not true. One strategy is to poison your opponent before switching to a different weapon. Special attacks and poison are seperate.
  18. It's sad that people are botting just to get a 99 skillcape. I've seen an increase of bot's in member's its noticeable. They've all started to turn accept aid off as well so I can't teleother them to block their botting. You can report people who are moving in predictable patterns even if they are not talking. Also don't take that other person's insults too personally. I tend to insult other slayer's around me just so I can have the slayer spot & monsters to myself. It works %99 of the time... they log & hop.
  19. Never level anything except attack and strength to 99. You may get 99 defense along the way but defense is negligible past level 80 or 85. Anything you level into the 99's besides the above : -will be nerfed - there will be no rewards the higher level you are besides a useless level 99 cape - new ways of levelling will be made that will make the skill an easier 99 meaning that it will take half or quarter of the effort you took to get a 99, still lots of grinding but less than before Avoid the frustration of trying to be a ranger or a mage. Especially a mage. Most updates will cater to the melle class. Get used to it. Distractions and diversions are fun easy ways to level mining and woodcut. You may like stars or evil trees. Even the circus is good to do. Penguins are free exp towards hated skills.
  20. Addy and mith ores are more valuable than they have every been. This is incentive alone to mine it. They are not as hard to mine as rune ore. Gold did need a boost, the fact that gold ore prices didn't crash with the living rock's update is proof enough. Gold ore prices are stable at 400+ gp. It's your opinion that mining is tedious and boring. Not all the skills have to be the same or easy. There are plenty of people who like mining. Again when you bring smithing into this argument you are basically saying smithing sucks. We haven't seen a smithing update yet. Mining is fine as it is especially for members.
  21. What is the point of getting more mith and addy ores if there isn't more xp? Your rant seems to be about not having enough ores to smith. Why not title your rant smithing sucks. More mith and addy ores will never happen as items smithed can be alched making mining too rewarding. You picked the haunted mines as an example of how "impossible" it is to mine mith and addy this is untrue. I used to mine at the f2p hobgoblin mines in the wildy, that was a decent spot to get addy ores. After I got members I used to mine and smith bars using the magic spell at the grand tree mine. Also I even used to mine at the desert mine, there was a decent amount of ores there as well. The OP is very stubborn and has ignored the amazing gold ores and coal ores living caverns update. This single update has made mining popular. Also as gold is one of the best ways to level smithing with crafting gauntlets there is no reason to whine that smithing is impossible. You can DIY smithing now by just mining your own ores if you have the patience. Besides living caverns there are other things that make mining easier now: Varrock armour : Gives extra ores up to addy while mining, this is a significant bonus Shooting stars: Mining xp, free ores, free gp, free gems AND a bonus of extra ores for mining for a certain period of time Stealing creation pickaxes: DOUBLE MINING XP and it takes 12 minutes max to get these points if you do fast sc games Stealing creation hammer: DOUBLE SMITHING XP what more could you ask for and saves lots of gp while levelling smithing Blast furnace : Requires less ores to smith bars AND now there is a direct cart ride from GE to here AND because of personalized shops other players can't buy the noted ores you sell to the store And last but not least, not everyone has the summonning level for a pack yak, but with one it doesn't matter how far and incovenient the mine is just mine, fill and bank ores with a scroll. I DO NOT support more mining changes to make ores easier to get. The argument that monsters are bringing more bars and ores into the game vs players doesn't hold water. Where are you getting this information from? It was harder to mine before and there were plenty of mith and addy ores for sale. Most monsters do NOT drop noted bars or ores, there are a few such as aviansies etc. If anything more monsters should drop noted bars such as metallic dragons. The bulk of ores and bars are coming from players, not monsters.
  22. Excellent update allowing some items to be purchased as notes from the stores. This will up the amount of items for sale on the GE as well! Currently only these items are sold in these packs besides shards: eyes of newt, empty or water-filled vials, raw bird meat, and empty baskets or sacks I'd like to see the noted items extended to other summon seconds such as tinderboxes, raw rabbit meat and harpoons, these are in demand as much as bird meat. I'd also like all the rune shops to be linked so runes can be purchased daily in one go.
  23. This thread can be closed now as the vial issue has been fixed. Selling noted items was needed. Now they just need to move on to selling more noted summoning seconds like harpoons, and tinderboxes etc. ^ Have you looked in stores lately? 300k bird meat would take over 2.5 YEARS to purchase. No stock is infinite any longer and stocks are tightly rationed.
