  1. Good guide, especially as you are going to add more info. The best profit is from the unfinished broad bolts. I do this daily. I can see the other items listed in your guide that are stackable like runes and feathers would be worth doing especially for people without good money making skills. However for other items like vials, I tried doing this today for my own personal use and it took a long time approximately 30 mins for 1k water-filled vials at Shilo Village. The shop at Lunar Isle is closer but only stocks unfilled water vials and I already have 99 magic. I even purchased some molten glass even though they cost over 500 gp each to make my own glass vials however the glass-blowing animation takes so long, that I couldn't even make a decent amount of vials per hour. Even unstackable items like raw bird meat and rabbit meat for my own personal use that I gather for slayer from the stores take a fair amount of time to run. I find this tedious and painful, I wish that the shops would simply sell noted items, as the items are so strictly rationed. I just don't find it fun to run to and from stores, and a lot of these items barely sell through the GE, I would happily pay higher prices, even 4x current prices. I hope jagex relaxes the price caps on items so that more people have an incentive to do the work of running to stores to purchase items for a profit. Thank you for making this guide though, perhaps more people will consider running to purchase these items and then they may finally be buyable on the GE. I'm not sure if you listed the store at the Lighthouse, it does stock some items.
  2. Don't you know he's the type who will never give up? Instead of admitting to his own lack of intellectual capability and logical reasoning, he tries to cover up his mistakes. This just makes things worse for him though, but who cares? At least we get a good laugh. I stand by my rant, personalized shops is a horrible update due to the inadequate levels of supplies for most items. Someone posting on this thread and stating that there are enough chisels is not getting the point of the rant. Quelmot you are f2p of course this won't affect you, it is affecting members and how is your post relevant to my rant. You are back to your ways of just posting without reading the OP's rants. Vials are unbuyable on the GE. Give it a try before coming back and saying my rant isn't valid.
  3. ^ Ugh. You do realize that when you were ur good weapons and armour to kill a monster, you are NOT risking those good expensive items? You can't compare wearing expensive items to kill a monster in a safe situation where you risk nothing due to graves to pking where you could lose your items. Also there is the luck factor in killing dragons, a draconic visage is rare you could spend 10 years killing dragons without ever seeing a visage. You are also getting other drops and monster loot that add up in value. Dragon bones alone are worth so much. The best way to get rare valuable drops is to do slayer and dragons come up as a task regularly. I'm not sure why but there seems to be enhanced luck built into slayer which is also why a lot of people slay past lvl 85. It's not all about the whips. Also do the clue scrolls slayer monsters drop it's very profitable. Jagex has been reacting. 1. They took monster drops out of pvp because prices for whips etc. were crashing. 2. They revamped pvp because skilling prices were crashing, it wasn't too long ago this spring where all resources cost significantly less from dragon bones to sharks. It's actually more profitable to skill now than it ever has been thanks to inflation and 76king and PVP. 3. They are working on rebalancing pvp, but if it's not profitable enough people won't pvp. There has to be profits. Maybe it would have been better if they hadn't outlined how ep and the pvp loot system works but when pvp came out people were furious that their kills weren't yielding good drops. This current form of pvp is nothing like the pre-trade restrictions wildy, it's more a pvp minigame with rules etc.
  4. There are many more ways to train slayer more efficiently now if you have the cash, with godswords, pots, new potions that maximize damage. There is less need for food because of bunyips et al. so tasks can be completed faster, and there are slayer rings that tele you closer to tasks. Plus being able to cancel hated tasks, and the option of trading in points for slayer exp have all made it a bit easier. It's still a respected cape. ^ I would theive more if it were more profitable. I also hate pyramid plunder and I hate failing at theiving so much. ^ Why mine past lvl 85? At new caverns it's afkable and profitable even with gold ore prices decreasing, it used to be 400k an hour but even 300k an hour profit is decent as you are also getting exp. I've seen lvl 99 miners at the caverns who are also mining their own gold to lvl smithing and for mining rank. ^ I'm also surprised that theiving and hunter especially are more rare than prayer. Hunter is a decent profit. Maybe its time to make hunt-x or set up traps-x.
  5. ^ I rant so things will improve and to vent clearly.
  6. I don't need or want players with a low total level who will never ever get a 99 skill or F2P for life players to support my rants.
  7. ^ Let it go. As for the topic of this thread, the new jagex game will impact RS. Some RS players will try the new game, will be interesting to see how many stick to the new game and how many will return to RS. A maxed out RS char will probably keep playing the new game though. This will potentially impact the economy and just the gameplayer less sellers of godwars and other good monster loot, plus less rich buyers pushing up prices of resources. At this point it's hypothetical but obviously the new game will impact RS, to what extent still remains to be seen. >>>>>>> As an aside it's very irritating that whenever someone new posts on these rants forums there is a core group of regulars who post on these forums and make people feel very unwelcome. It's the rants forum lighten up. This thread will die a natural death there is no need to demand it be locked. Also it's not like the tip.it rants forums is very active these days, it's boring.
  8. Not one thread so far supporting merch clans. Clearly RS players are fed up over the economy and artificial GE shortages. FIXED PRICES FOR ITEMS The only solution that jagex could implement that would work and be cost and labour effective for Jagex would be to set fixed prices with far more strict item caps on the number of items you can purchase at once so one player can't just hoard most items. If there was high demand if a new skill was introduced or new items were introduced jagex would have to monitor and manually adjust some prices but the bulk of prices would remain fixed. For example a 200 million purple phat. Forever. ^ This will cause chaos, items will not sell on GE, it will be frustrating for all players. Or it could work who knows. With so many whiners, complainers about merch clans within the player ranks I would prefer to see a player solution to merch clans. This is a MMORPG. If an item is being merched and you need it or others can supply it to you who are non-merchers some sort of network should be set up to bypass the GE even if it means losing a bit of profit. Also there is always DIY. Take a stand don't pay overinflated prices. Check the GE if an items price has been steadily rising and you can get it via DIY do DIY. Also whenever there are popular skills like the current herby craze choose to level another skill that is less costly at the moment. There are 24 skills to pick from including skills that require very little gp. Plan ahead, keep a solid supply of basics if you can like runes etc. Also figure out what skills you want to level follow GE prices and purchase when the prices are good. The other side of this coin is to not sell your items when prices are dropping. Hold onto it if you can afford it and sell when its rising. IF the average player was smarter they would sell when their item prices go higher and if an item was too expensive pass on it, just don't buy it. Everyone is anti merchant. Pre GE trade restrictions people hated merchants. Now people hate merchants. The more things change the more they stay the same. Personally I could care less about merchants the bulk of my wealth is from pre-GE trade restrictions and merchant clans don't affect my gameplay. I've never participated in GE merchanting either it bores the hell out of me. I loved pre ge merch without price restrictions though it was fun. Also merching does fill a need, I would rather overpay for certain items than gather them myself due to opportunity costs. I can earn more gp doing other things instead of gathering my own water filled vials for example. Due to current GE restrictions the vials I need can only be purchased with junk. I can't complain about it being overpriced because for me it isn't. I save gp with the junk trade as I can earn more gp per hour doing other things. There is such uneven wealth in RS and that is a problem. As for greed it annoys me that some players are dying to purchase rares when for the longest time rares were considered junk after Ge restrictions. I held onto my rares when prices plummetted. Now when I wear my rares its annoying that people are saying nice phat. When they were junk and I wore them people would comment on how they were junk. For me rares represent a piece of RS history, I'm not interested in their cost and if they were made untradeable I would be happy. RS players are fickle, and competitive and greedy. As for the clan leader being greedy its not only him. The normal everyday RS player who participates in merch clans is greedier in my opinion. Some players want to get rich quick, for them merch clans are the way. Every game has its cheats and for RS merch clans are one. Sit back and earn gp. I don't hate merchanting clans, but I don't support them either. I don't support solo GE merchants either.
  9. Risk vs Rewards The old wildy was more balanced in terms of if you wanted the reward you had to risk death from player killers. Back then there were far fewer runite rocks as well. I enjoyed the challenge of skilling in the old wildy, it made abyss runecrafting more interesting. It was easy not to die if you knew what you were doing. Charging my god staffs while dodging mage bank pkers was also exciting. The whole point of the wildy was danger. Now the wildy is just an extended safe zone in non-pvp worlds, revenants are no replacement for intelligent pkers who were deadly. The wildy is boring now.
  10. Learn to read, I never said this and my earlier posts on this thread started with talking about afking mining. Where do you come up with your unique interpretations. Typical from a player who has played years and has a poor character with low levels. Getting a 99 is like having cancer? <_< -------------- Typical quelmotz you always post things off-topic to the main rant. Everyone drop the 99s are easy topic especially as the original thread creator wants this thread to go back on topic. It would help if the OP started mining sucks part 3 With the dragon pick out and concentrated ores mining is much better now and these were significant improvements to the skill.
  11. My vial purchase bid has been in since the day of the 103 gp price cap for water-filled vials. After days of being able to only purchase 0 or 2-20 vials per day today the GE finally sold over 4k vials. I'm confused as to where the vials are coming from the vial stock in shops isn't that high, and most shops are unlocked after quests. I doubt some player who has unlocked quests would bother buying and selling vials for a poor profit. I wonder if the bots are back. If so, welcome back! My herby level thanks you.
  12. Normal players afk and do something non tedious while levelling Before cook x or fletch x skills were tedious, now they are handed to you on a silver platter. SC hammers Addy platebodys easy 99 smithing in less than a month Oh really? Have you bought a skill lately? How many level 99 skills do you have?
  13. The TIF rants forum is horrible. The TIF posters are very pro Jagex. The players who have played from before are disrespected on these forums. The whole culture of RS has changed so much since I started playing. Before higher level players who played for longer were valued, and their opinions meant something. The main attitude now of new players is Jagex is changing for the better, if you don't like it leave. New players also scorn the so called golden age of RS but for those of us that did play before it was just a different game. The community was much better. Even F2P was different before, everyone's goal was to one day get members. I find it so strange that there are some players who post on these forums that will never ever get members. When I started to play RS it was rare to see anyone above combat 100 in F2P they were all members by that point.
  14. Your stat's are so low that I could create a lvl 3 today and get those stat's in a week. AND you are F2P what do you know about the member's skills. There are easy 99's. Cooking. Fletching. Anything buyable if you are rich enough. In my opinion mining is now an easy 99 because of the new update. The concentrated ores mine faster with a dragon pick, the bank is close by, and the xp per hour is decent. It still takes time to get 99 mining but the effort compared to moving around getting one ore per rock with old style mining is so much less. It is faster to reach 99 mining now than before and you don't even have to drop ores while powermining. Mining is even easier than 99 wc or fishing now. I'm not complaining I think living caverns was the best update all year.
  15. What happened to devalue cash? 1. GE and trade limits Everyone knows this one. 2. GE mechanics were changed. Around the time that partyhats finally started to rise in price there was general inflation for every single item in the game almost. Sharks are sitting at 1.5k now. There is no way the true suppy and demand for sharks values sharks at 1.5k. There is less need for food with summons monsters and guthans etc. PvP doesn't really use that much food and sharks are not the food of choice for true pkers, tuna potato's etc. are. Basically I think when they changed the way the GE responded to partyhat and other rares pricing it made the GE more sensitive causing price rises for almost every item. This is just a guess though, as no one except Jagex knows how the GE works. 3. Personalized stores. Along with personalized stores the price floors & ceilings for items were changed, noticeably stable junk became unstable overnight. Junk prices crashed to new lows not making it worth the while to create junk anymore for trades. Overnight clever RS players started to demand "fast-rising items" or "high-demand items" as payment. 4. Player ingenuity. Before cash was worth something because cash was accepted for payment as the added value to the seller came from selling the buyer junk + the item for cash. Now it's high-demand and fast-rising items that sellers are looking for. This all ties back to Number 1. GE and price floors and ceilings. Until prices can reflect the true value of an item given supply and demand it's impossible to buy certain items for cash unless you are very lucky and manage to purchase it via the GE. Essentially no matter how much cash a player has if they are looking to buy certain items they will need other items to trade with such as rares or 3rd age or whatever the item of the day is at the moment. It's a frustrating situation for both players and sellers. Currently grenwall spikes are sitting at 10k each as the street or RSOF price. The GE price is 188GP. Vials of water have been artificially price-capped at 103gp each. Very few literally 2 or 3 per day sell through the GE. People on forums are offering 200-250 gp per vial. The few sellers are getting up to 600 gp per vial. Of course cash is junk at the moment, there is inflation and each day 1gp is worth less. The RS econony is dynamic and players are working around the limitations placed by Jagex. However as an everyday player I find the situation frustrating, and this has changed my gameplay.
  16. Infinite stock never meant items weren't sellable on GE. Runes were always sellable. Most food such as lobsters were never infinite and sold well. All arrows I fletched sold on GE even with infinite stock.
  17. Stop turning this into a runecrafting thread. Newsflash runecrafting was always profitable. No one cares that now elemental runes in F2P are profitable.
  18. Support. Mechscape will impact RS. It already has, this year has seen less RS updates and the updates we did have are not so great as their real talent is working on Mechscape. Also the maxed out RS players will rush to Mechscape, and this will impact RS as less godswords & other player made items will enter the game. The sky will fall and the RS world will end sometime in 2012. In all seriousness I did read somewhere mechscape will sell items for cash.
  19. I agree. I went to the runescape news page about personalized shops update and they even contradict themselves: Due to the herby update vials are in high-demand but since the day that prices of vials were nerfed I've been able to purchase LESS than 500 vials. This isn't relaxing prices, it's dictating prices for a high-demand item. ^ Agree.
  20. I support this, more choice is best atm it's like we are forced to use limited stores. Why can't the stores be hooked up to the GE interface? Sell me my alloted store amount via the GE and let the rest of my purchase come from other players who are selling. Instead of running back and forth to fetch supplies I would rather runecraft, at least I'd be gaining XP and decent GP. At the moment the only solution so that player demands are met via the GE is if jagex made merchanting a skill. Then running back and forth to stores to buy and sell supplies wouldn't be wasted time.
  21. It is completely AFKable just check the RS screen every two mins to run to the bank to deposit the load. There are plenty of safe spots Mining is now a easy AND profitable 99 thanks to living rock update.
  22. Thanks for all your input. I'm confused about what other prices will be capped... and as to why this update was 'hidden' by jagex. Doesn't seem like a safe time to purchase anything if the price can just drop in half overnight.
  23. Jagex is playing around with price-caps. They've lowered the stocks in stores. The demand for herblore items are high. As of today, there was a hidden GE update. Eyes of newt now cost 95gp-100gp in the GE. Vials of water now cost 98gp-103gp Good luck levelling herblore, now that the GE will be jammed with offers for vials of water while it won't be worth the time for people to sell to the GE.
  24. The very vocal group of ranters on this forums don't have the opinion I have. For you this update WORKS for many other players this update is a hinderance to skilling as they can't get enough supplies. If you ever reach a high level in a skill you will know what I"m talking about. Buying supplies then selling them to other rs players who are FORCED to overpay for needed supplies... how nice of you. =D> And if you think it's PROFITABLE to run around to stores to buy items and then sell to other players you are a bigger noob then I expected. Wow I can earn gp like a level 3 does, good update. NOTHING was preventing you from getting your own supplies with infinite stock. Also vials were being merched they have been dumped. Many rs players have much better and more FUN things to do then run around to shops to make a few gp profit. There won't be enough of a supply.
