I don't understand? PR stunt, yes. If they thought lip-service was enough at this point, we would not have seen the changes to ad-bots, chat changes, and frost dragon changes. But these things are necessary to start getting the player base on their side. But the way I think of it is: I knew they were full of shit when they said they could stop bots when free trade came back. I voted yes anyway, because it was a step in the right direction. And I look at this newspost, which has a less bullshit ring to it, and also think that the efforts from these things are steps in the right direction. You have said that rewriting the entire nature of the game would cost vast amounts of money and manhours to make goldfarming useless. We both know that Jagex can't do that. They have no choice to make pleas like this to get people to lessen their dependency on goldfarmers, by bolstering their faith in them with attempts and (spotty) successes. The newspost itself was a persuasive argument, which is why they used bold statements like, "We can't do it without your help!". The updates that followed were the attempts and (spotty) successes. So whether or not you agree with the referrendum/free trade stuff and the fluff that went isn't the point. That is why I said that it was always commonly understood that they needed the community to police itself. That's why they made this post. The community has turned to botting because of personal gain, either by RL cash or ease of play, and Jagex will take whatever cost-effective solutions they can get their hands on. (ie persuading people to stop botting/supporting goldfarming) Yeah, they're far from a dazzling white reputation in my eyes, but they're starting to scrub at those nasty stains.

It's a distraction and diversion though, it's not supposed to be core-content. Just bonus stuff. :/

Like most of the people on these forums, I have access to glacors. Glacors are easier for me to get to, easier for me to get into a rythm, less costly in supplies, better in charms and effigies (I think?). And I don't need a packyak to do them proper. So I'm not going to kill any frosts just because there are temporarily less bots there and more instances. I don't want to even bother with them. I'm happy to see the changes as a player, and I agree it's stupid to get mad at Jagex for not being victorious out of the gate...but you'll have to forgive me if I'm not jumping for joy and preaching the Good J-Word :P I am interested in seeing if combat style changes will be slowly carried out through other botted monsters, like Aviansies. It's really more impacting on lower level players, all these changes.

I'm absolutely hopeless at getting my rank to 1250, I've tried for a solid week. I don't have the talent for chess or strategy games like that. Is there any cc or things like that who offer help in obtaining deflector?

I wouldn't touch a server without a whitelist with a ten foot pole. They are far too easily griefed. Tip.it based or not, anyone with access to that IP (ie: anyone who can navigate to forum.tip.it) can go on and screw it up. I like the idea but meh.

I remember the first day this came out that Buttwhoopchi dc'd the first time he got in. The game didn't recognize that, and he was locked out of the D&D without even having a chance to try. It's a bit poor execution in that aspect but it sounds nice though.

I don't think they're just now admitting it. It's what was commonly understood to be necessary, which is why we have player mods and reports in the first place. But Jagex was heavily criticized for a lack of visible results breeding apathy to the situation in their player base. I think that was more of the reason for this newspost than a sudden revelation more than anything.

Yeah, I had the same fear. I went through everything I could think of to change passes and tighten my personal security. It's unsettling for sure, but after I did it I felt better. Like for instance, I didn't know I could set up 2-step verification with a landline. That was an awesome discovery for me XD

And we're trying to be. It's not as if we're sitting back and stroking our beards going, "Ha ha! They'll never know!" Someone who knows more specific information will likely respond as soon as they can, and that will likely be Peter or another admin. (Edit: if there's even anything more to share! I just don't know!) But until then, as Y_Guy said, assume a few years. And in the mean time, try not to jump down his throat--he's only trying to help as much as he can. Runs like crap, most phones on the market aren't ready for how demanding it is on resources. But it's pretty neat. TBH I wouldn't pay for it yet until the tech meets where it should.

Clan fights, for one. Casual conversation, another. Actual community involvement (like roleplaying, or contests, get-togethers)

I'm not 100% on that, but that sounds plausible. Also I noticed with my first mistake that my exp rates take into acc using a lava titan. Whoopsie.
