  1. I honestly and truly think they will NEVER do microtransactions--they've promised that too many times to welch on it now. I do think though that this trend will continue where memberships and things like that are padded with bonus things to keep people buying. Thus they don't break their word but still get people to pay. They were smart in making these objects members-only. So it's not exactly like you're paying 6.00 for an item and go back to F2P with it, never having to buy members again. If they hadn't, then I think the argument that RS is turning to MTs could truly be made.
  2. Since this is the first time Jagex has done as much, so it's hard to call this a 'trend'. Loyalty program... Now this... Not even just the loyalty program, but the now-ditched USB stick idea, the flagstaff idea, the item that will eventually be released for RuneFest 2011... I wouldn't say there was a trend if this hasn't happened before. I'm not as stupid as you might think :P
  3. That's why God invented Self Checkout Lanes.
  4. [hide][/hide] No, people are arguing about the trend that already is happening.
  5. Then he wouldn't have gotten hacked, simple enough. So you're sure that your friend that got hacked didn't do something stupid then? Because if this hacker fellow knew you lot, it's completely plausible that he guessed your friend's recoveries and whatnot.
  6. lol... It's basically a black sword that requires 1 attack to use. Yes, that's worth "mass outrage". Irrelevant to you does not mean irrelevant to everyone. And I suspect the 'mass outrage' is more due to the fact that Jagex has a tendency to take things too far. This one could be a promotional item for noobs. Next could be a platebody that rivals a Rune Plate and is also risk-free. They went from flagstaffs with no significant stats to this, so it's very possible and we have every right to be concerned. I understand that this might rob you of your chance to be cynical, but maybe you better understand why people are upset about it now. :)
  7. You know, I might not like how they're doing this...but it's really not like that at all. You're not paying cash to exclusively get an item. You're still getting a service with a 'thank you' present on the side. Some of the issue is that this vanity item is unbalanced for the requirements to wield it--it's between a black and a mithril scim with only requiring 1 att/str. And this isn't available to all players. Yes they won't be reoccurring things and they're only special promotions, but it's still not fair to others. It's not just for looks like other holiday items are, because its stats are unbalanced.
  8. No, this is not true. Your friend who 'knows a lot about computers' got hit by a screengrabber+keylogger...or he was stupid and shared his account details with someone No...it won't help your friend to give into blackmail. Run regular virus scans, run an anti-malware program, change your password and recoveries, register a SECURE email that is hard to recover. Practice smart account security.
  9. This just doesn't make sense. I tried writing up an elaborate post that went into much detail as possible but I'm so stunned by it that words fail me.
  10. Dungeoneering, return of Free Trade. There was no owner after Lady_Heinous, she simply changed her RSN to Shyla.
  11. No, he just hates people. He is the antichrist after all...that is, if you're to believe my extremely right wing cousins in Indiana. :ugeek:
  12. No different than the full release will be when he charges for updates for those who purchased post-alpha.
  13. Xbox uses their own language, which is basically C#. And C# and Java are nearly identical. All mods are done in java as well, I think. There is very little, if any, adjusting necessary. It's just a matter of how.
  14. You're right. They wouldn't be free. Valve had similar trouble with Left 4 Dead and such, when a lot of the maps they released on the PC for free they had to charge for on Xbox because of microsoft.
  15. If Skyrim is successful in figuring out how to mod their content on consoles, others will follow.
  16. I think it was a brilliant idea for when he starts charging for updates. He gets all the benefit of reaping profits and none of the worries about credit card fraud. But you won't see me playing it on the xbox anytime soon... Currently a lot of people are butthurt over the piston update not having launching-type abilities. It's funny to watch. Jeb is actually getting involved in the community about it, and people are just hopping down his throat with whining. It's kind of sad to see, actually.
  17. Fairly said. I'm sorry :P I misunderstood your intent.
  18. I remember posting on phpbb in early 2005 to sell my god pages... And writing up a guide for Garden of Tranquility, back when users could still post guides in the discussion boards on days they were released, which eventually got fused with Abomb's guide... Ahh memories.
  19. Except the TC claimed that he's looking for the best weapon to use on his way to 99 slayer, in which case a whip (or CR eventually) will serve him better than a godsword. You are right generally, just not for the TC's situation. :P
  20. There is a reason why sites like DearFEMA.com exist. FEMA states insufficient damage means that "The inspection showed your home to be safe, sanitary and functional and you are able to live there." In their case, I think maybe...hopefully...that the reason why they were denied was simply mixed up--they found out that their insurance would cover the cost of replacing their home, which is another reason why FEMA declines people. Who knows if that's the case for other citizens in Alabama though...
  21. Moved this to the Marketplace. You are requesting to buy a service, which is why it belongs here instead of Help & Advice. Please do not repost this in H&A. :)
  22. Didn't RR open earlier last year as a clan wars clan?
  23. Oh, I see. I read that the wrong way. Thanks Ganon. :)
  24. Quick question before I vote, how come there are some entries that violate the 350x150 rule? Are we not allowed to vote for those, or...?
  25. ....I thought they said they were going to expand the RuneFest locations? :/ It sounds absolutely amazing and yet again, I can't go.
