  1. How mature is she? If she's mature then some tactful honesty should be appreciated after a few days of cool-down time. If she's a drama queen then just run. Run.

    Today...

^I'm looking forward to it! Trying to design (and hopefully make) a spring powered toy musket. My goals are for it to sturdy and have a range of at least 30 feet. Of course I have no idea if I can get my hands on a spring that's both that powerful and small enough to fit but....
  3. Naruto and Bleach are so absurdly long that I can't understand how anyone could watch all of their episodes. Never mind madness like One Piece. It takes serious greatness for a series to hold me in for more than 25 episodes.
  4. ^I did say "RPG's supposed point of view" because you pointed out it was an experiment to see our opinions later. But if someone posts here about approaching someone I think that it's pretty reasonable to say they're interested in canoodling with that person. I mean the thread often goes a lot deeper than that, but that's still it's still a dating advice thread at its core. After that I was just arguing the general point of "if you want to approach a girl you should, rather than potentially regret not doing so later".

^Well most jobs involving design use peer review and such to iron out stupid ideas. It's a lot more effective than relying on people to recognize their own mistakes. Today I told a friend about an ice cream machine that will give you two ice creams instead of one (due to a mechanic glitch), so she gave me a buck (the ice creams cost 1.75) to buy us both one. It worked like a charm except both ice creams got stuck. After kicking the machine as hard as I dared without breaking it I gave up and put two dollars more in, and it popped out four ice creams. Then a guy bought one for $2 off of me and I somehow profited off of the whole ordeal.
  6. I'd complain about getting kicked in the knee, but if I complain about every martial arts injury I get I'm going to be posting about it four times a week. Life is pain when your main sparring partner is a head taller, more stocky, and also better overall.
  7. Go on Tip.it and post in any discussions you can add to. Do things that need to be done. Check Tip.it again. Refresh page until it's time to sleep. Sleep. Repeat. A healthy life, brought to you by Tip.it!
  8. In general an attitude of "she'd probably say no anyways" is a losing attitude. If you're attracted to a girl and don't ask her out you get the joy of potentially regretting that. If you take a shot at it and she turns you down absolutely no damage was done.* Better to give it a shot and move on than to never try and waste time looking back. Anyways, our personal attractions towards her are irrelevant because we were looking from RPG's supposed point of view, which was one of a person who was totally into her. *The exception is if it's a person you see a lot, because then you can pick your time better (aka any time in which they look vaguely open, you don't want to overthink it and wait for the "perfect moment" because it will never come). Personally I always try to err on the side of risk**, because it's better to kill my chances with a girl prematurely than to waste time and thought on something that could go either way. **Well, emphasis on try.
  9. What was that website's name again? I didn't quite catch it. It's been beautiful outside today, and the nice weather has done wonders for my mood. Also, when you're tired and the professor decides to show a movie for the lecture.
  10. ^Terrible attitude. If you approach her and that happens you've wasted ten seconds and maybe bruised your ego slightly. However it may also succeed and you'll never know unless you try. I'm going to sound pretty hypocritical here due to how difficult I find meeting new people, but you're over thinking this.
  11. So I decided to try the Superflat challenge (hardcore mode, hard, superflat setting) with the desert preset. Desert means there is no natural dirt and villagers build their homes out of sandstone instead of wood. Aka the only tools you can get (until you can find a village that has saplings in its smithy) are those you get in smithies or from drops. My first round was going swimmingly (I had a lifetime supply of carrots and three swords along with steel armor) until I discovered a pyramid, and accidentally fell into its TNT trap. My second run through resulted in me accidentally punching a villager just as the village golem walked by, resulting in my instant death (I had found saplings, too). Edit: Third attempt has led to me finding 2 diamonds, a steel pick, obsidian, and some armor in the first town. Looking good!

Am I the only who finds the semi-new "Snickers Peanut Butter Squared" candy to be incredible? It might just be my new favorite. I've also decided to write my fanfiction for the terrible fanfiction contest as a Rugrats All Grown Up/CatDog slashfic. I'm also going to try to include the most absurd cake-based puns and shatter suspension of belief so badly that it will be permanently morphed for the reader.
  13. Lightning CAN burn a structure down, but only if the rain storm ends almost immediately after the lightning sets your house ablaze. And I currently have three underground farms (60 squares of wheat, 40 squares of carrots, and 40 squares of potatoes) as well as a 49 tree underground tree farm that uses both glass filled tunnels to the surface for natural light and an absurd amount of torches for artificial light. I'm treating that area as a fortress within my fortress in case of some improbable lightning strike. My storage house (filled with cobble and dirt from excavating my farms) is next to that, and bother are attached to the outer wall of my home. Meanwhile I have a central house (7x7) which has a posh chest room and attached bedroom. That's in the center of a yard which is approximately 52x52 (it has some expanded bits because I wanted to include two nearby ponds in my yard) and is bordered by an 8 block high wooden wall (only 5 blocks high when seen from the inside because there's a ditch outside of it). Spiders can still climb into my yard, but that's because I still need to add two layers of cobble "filler" and one more layer of wood before I add an anti-spider ledge of some sort. Anyways, the occasional random spider isn't enough to kill me. The only door into my yard is an iron one (button operated) and is bordered by a solid obsidian frame (my house was conveniently built on top of a lava lake- yeah it's a wood house but I'm fairly sure I sealed off the lava with enough dirt) because I'm incredibly paranoid. It's a lot of fun and I've almost reached the point where I'm immune to random bullshit deaths. (The only close call was a spider jockey, who I broke my sword against. It then managed to followed me into my farm (spider had died) and I barely escaped by building an impromptu wall in my carrot patch. Since then I've always made sure to have my hunger bar constantly maxed.

Hey at least you haven't fully submerged your phone in orange juice. ...Which I have done and although my phone miraculously survived it it now has more glitches than should be legal. I realized that how funny I am tends to scale inversely with how good of a day I'm having. Which explains why I think of my best jokes on Mondays.
  15. Finished Elfen Lied, and was heavily scarred by the process. Seriously, don't watch it unless you have a high tolerance for trauma because it's got everything from animal abuse to a little girl getting raped by her father. Not cool. I feel like the overarching plot was lacking, though because [hide=Spoilers everywhere] It really felt contrived for the protagonist (I forgot his name already) to forgive Lily/Nyu for murdering his sister and father so quickly. Seriously it transitioned straight from "HOLY SHIT I JUST REMEMBERED YOU KILLED HALF OF MY FAMILY IN FRONT OF MY EYES" to "I tripped and fell on you I'm going to blush because you're cute and apparently not even my grief is stronger than my perversion". And then he somehow gets over it and kisses her a few hours later. I just can't see any real human being recovering from that level of betrayal that quickly. Mind, the Lily's back story was incredibly compelling. After watching her classmates murder her pet puppy in front of her I had trouble being upset at her for her actions. It was a combination of "oh god she's turning flat out evil" and "but what society has done to her has been so crappy". She was a really good character overall, I think. Way too many of the other characters seemed far too two-dimension though, like they were only there to join the protagonist's harem or to throw in a random tragic back story for more shock value. [/hide] Also I'm still working my way through Nichijou and it's a lot of fun. I'm not a huge fan of one shot episodes that lack an overarching plot, but Nichijou keeps drawing me back whenever I'm getting sick of other things for a quick boost. Also also I finished rewatching Steins;Gate (watched the dub this time) and I have to say it was one of the better dubs I've seen. Kyouma's evil laugh could've been better, but then I guess I can't ask for everything. Also also also I was incredibly disappointed to learn that rumors of the new Madoka movie airing this summer (well, in Japan) were only rumors.
  16. ^Flossing is to hygiene as studying is to good grades: Pretty much none of us do it enough but we still scrape by somehow. That being said, I really need to get in the habit of flossing regularly.

Dear new OTers: If you stay I promise to love you long time. The forum has been unprecedentedly busy the past day and a half and I love it. OT: I'm only one class into the day and I'm already completely exhausted and ready to just pass out. Not sure how I'm going to manage three more classes and Tae Kwon Do but it'll probably involve either copious amounts of caffeine or a hastily made deal with Satan.
  18. ^Story of my life. Of course last night I decided to finish Elfen Lied, watch a horror game LP, and brainstorm for an incredibly depressing story idea all directly before going to sleep. Needless to say sleepless nights plagued by nightmares annoy the hell out of me.
  19. Honestly I have trouble remembering that this is a PG forum, mostly because in OT everyone either is or acts like they're adults. On a related note, over-bearing admins. The mods and such we have here are pretty reasonable, but I've run across a few (especially on the TF2 server I frequent, which has had major changes in its leadership in the past half year or so) really overbearing moderators. The sort who bust out the threat of a banhammer if you even vaguely annoy them, and still can't tell the difference between a joke and an actual insult even if you've been a regular on their server for over a year.... Actually pretty much everything about how that server is run annoys me and if it weren't for the fact that I really like its other regulars I'd be long gone. As it is I've already been informed that I'm getting a month-long ban the next time I need a "warning" (I've never even been kicked before but hey) so when that happens I'll probably just finally find a new server. ...Although if I'm going to be completely honest the problem has only been exacerbated by the fact that I tend to get extremely hostile and stubborn when threatened, and their mods tend to prefer strict warnings to other methods of reminding people of rules.
  20. RPG has a way with words. And it would be a lot of fun to see where all the ex-OTers went. I know Saruman (Saru-Inc now) still posts in the BlogScape subforum, though.

I'm entering into a "most implausible sex scene" fanfiction contest. That's about all I can say about it without risking more blackmarks on my account. I will be laughing like an idiot for a while though since writing intentionally terrible fanfiction is a hobby of mine.
  22. When called a nerd I reply with something along the lines of "and a damn good one, too". If you act ashamed of something people can use it against you, but if you refuse to do so they often won't even try. But then I wore chainmail to school multiple times during my senior year of high school so take my social advice with a grain of salt. OT: I think I'm gradually getting better at socializing with strangers and in general getting to know people. I still haven't actually hung out with anyone I've met at college, but I'm on pretty good terms with mostly everyone I'm in clubs with (stopping to chat outside of the clubs and such) and have even had a few successful conversations with total strangers in my classes. These aren't exactly anything special, but they're steps in the right direction. Also I'm probably going to be a club officer for the University Chess Club next semester, and that'll probably force me to come out of my shell even more. Also I've been practicing the martial arts regularly (Tae Kwon Do lessons twice a week at the University, along with Krav Maga and Tang Soo Do on other days) and I can really feel my flexibility and reactions improving, not to mention my balance and strength. It could go faster, but slow progress is one of the hazards of practicing classical martial arts instead of boxing or MMA. In all I'm pretty happy with my rate of improvement- heck, I almost beat an old sparring partner (who used to always cream me) recently.
  23. ^It's a shame that I totally failed to do any of that in my first two weeks at college. On the upside I've been making up for lost time through clubs and such. And I lurked these forums for almost a year before making an account, so I can definitely relate to our community being intimidating.
  24. ^I like to imagine that all ex-TiFers left because they were transported into a parallel Universe (for their unique skillsets of course) to fight off a robotic vampire-alien invasion and save the Earth. In this reality of mine Lent died fighting on the edge of a volcano against a horde of robotic vampire-aliens. He had the skills to defeat them, but was short on ammunition. So, he looked up into the sky at the rising moon that was so like the one he'd known as a child, and remembered. It was with a smile that he finished off the last of the horde with the explosives strapped to his chest. They say his last words were "Eat glass, [bleep]s."
