  2. "Maul is nice, but rapier can beat it." Oh I guess can = could now. Intrestin' Just saying how he thinks 2 hits makes it better than the maul. I guess hitting a 500 beats hitting an 850 now too? Nice logic guys. Cool down O.O I also did not say "always" for a reason, I only said "can", as "its possible to". can =/= will I apologize if you assumed I was stating otherwise. My point (and the point of the video) was that people assume maul was the best chaotic choice for a PvP weapon, which this shows it may not always be correct. Maul has the BEST combo-ko-potential by far in the game, but as per that video rapier can hit faster than a person can out-eat and thus is a prime weapon for PvP. Also remember he is at a lower combat level than I am, so at his level rapier might wreck, while at mine it could be rubbish. Maul may be better at higher combat levels, while due the fact pures lack defense rapier has more DPS opportunity. That's all i was trying to say o.O But lets leave that discussion for the chaos weapon discussion thread and stick to pictures shall we... Ontopic: ~20 points off max range accuracy bonus.
  3. As far as I'm aware, using a Dark bow special on corp still yields a 4-4 (normally 8-8), so there is a proven reduction of some sort. How vast the reduction is in terms of weapons has yet to be proven.
  4. He sent me this as a .mp4 so I hosted it on youtube so you can see it. Maul is nice, but rapier can beat it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhIFvy1Yao4
  5. Time to finally start doing heavy dungeon training :)
  6. Unless stated otherwise I see no proof that this is true. Back when BA was released, players swore up and down that using the cannon reduced the teams overall points. We now know this was never the case. Jagex even had to put an option in quick chat to state using the cannon did not reduce the XP. This is just a repeat of the same event. So unless a Jmod/Kbase says so, I am going to say killing the "dino's" through combat instead of traps has no reflection on your overall scores.
  7. If you cant manage to scrap up enough armor to tank it, and don't have enough combat power to crush it, the best option is gate-stones. Make a Gatestone and leave it in your inventory. Also bring enough runes for another 5-10 Gatestones. Keeping the stone in your inventory, go and fight him. Once you die, the stone will automatically drop where you died. As soon as you die, then teleport back and make another stone. This way he will never eat, as your always standing between him and the pile. Just remember to make another stone when you teleport back. You might die alot this way, but it is a 100% way to kill him.
  8. The answer to your full question is as follows: Saved items are based on 2 factors. 1) Alch price. The item that has the higher alch price will be kept over the item that has a lower alch price. This is the system that is most commonly used as items very rarley have the same alch values. 2) Alphabetical. Two items that have the same alch value are kept based on their alphabetial name. This was not always the case however. It used to be items were kept based on the item # they had. An item that was introduced earlier in the game would keep over an item that was intoduced later. Abyssal whips used to be lost over Mysic robe tops. Many of the "old-school" pkers will remeber mages used to hybrid in split-bark tops because mystic kept over the whips despite being the same alch value. This was changed however around 2005? (If someone could find the source on this it would be great.) Now items which are the same alch value are kept on death based on which comes first in the alphabet. This is why an "A"byssal whip keeps over a "M"ystic robe top. This is not a 100% rule however. Some items such as the Zamorkian spear have been tweaked to stay over items of the same alch value.
  9. Stop Right there. Your argument may be valid if this was a mini-game, but it is a SKILL., If you classify it as skill or not doesn't matter, because it adds to the total overall level, so its a skill. So lets compare it to a skill of the same leveling speed: Mining. Mining and Dungeoneering are both about 40k xp an hour. In that hour of mining gold I get 40k xp and GP. In that hour of dung I get 40k xp and 10k+ bonus xp in other skills. Better yet, you could even compare it to skills such as agility to which you get nothing but agility XP from it. I'm sure you don't expect to get 20k runecrafting xp an hour while you get 50k agility xp/hr. The only way you can get less xp per hour is if you take the extra time to go and fish/RC in the dungeon after your boss is complete. The "skilling" spots are not designed to be used this way and will decrease your XP/hr you could be getting. If you play the games as they were intended and make "skilling xp" a bonus XP for making things to complete your dungeon your overall XP will be far better. Save the fish and RC grinding for outside of the dungeon and just do them inside when you need them to complete the level.
  10. Yes and no. If you think about it, a good team can get around 40k+ xp dung an hour (4000+ tokens an hour). That's ~50 hours of playing for 200k tokens. Assuming you can make 1.5M an hour, 50 hours would be equal to about 75M in coins. The shields themselves are less efficient on stats than their spirit shield counterparts, however the shields have "special effects" which may boost their efficiency over the spirit shields in certain circumstances. A mager with a Farseer kiteshield is likley going to outperform a mager with a Arance SS in PvP due to the special effects of the Farseer Kite. In the long run the Farseer kiteshield is going to be far more expensive than the Arcane Spirit Shield would be, but at the risk of higher efficiency in some locations. If you do not use the shields for those locations (using the special attacks) then the shields are indeed worse than the Spirit Shields. However if you do use the special effects, the new shields can outperform Spirit Shields (at a higher cost). In other words, Arcane, Spectral, and Elysian are still great shields, but slightly less useful now as the new shields can outperform them in certain situations. They wont dry crash to nothing, but will not likley be the cost they were before this update. Divine price is unaffected since none of the shields can outperform it.
  11. Smexi range-tank gear is smexi.
  12. Noone is stopping you from using your money on items or skills. If you HAVE money, why do you need more? and more importantly why play a game to make only more money? And why not do it in a way that don't affect others? I'm surprised of your comment. Because its a game. Every aspect of the game is just that; a game. Not everyone enjoys spending money on skills or training stats. Some people just enjoy letting their cash pile grow bigger. To them THAT is the game. Saying one thing should not be fun to someone is like saying "I don't like this so neither should you". If you think the world works like that you are in for a very rude awakening. More on-topic-ish: Jagex have already said they don't think people in mass-merchant clans making items unbuyable is necessary in the spirit of the game, but they also said its not a primary concern. They only people than can destroy the merchant clans from running is the people themselves. Don't ask Jagex to amputate the leg because it has a small scrape on it.
  13. It appears most of the items will have specific uses rather than one item trumps all. So far this is what I've determined the items to mainly be used for. Chaos Rapier: Slayer Max Hit in Max Gear (On slayer task): Around 686 The fast speed will make this the best item for training slayer. Not only are its slash stats almost the same as a whip but it has a stab attack, which combined with defender, is that over a Z spear. Perfect for lower-medium defense monsters and metal dragons. Chaos Longsword: Bosses Max hit in max Gear (non-slayer): Around 666 The high attack bonuses will cut through most bosses defense. A great weapon for bosses like solo Bandos, as it hits like a VLS every single hit. Combined with claws you would have no fear of getting crashed. It will need to be tested, but it is possible the CLS could also be used on Sara. Chaos Maul: PvP Max hit in PvP Gear: 722 Without a doubt, the best PvP Ko weapon. Hitting a NORMAL 722 will allow you to dish out some serious KO combinations. It can hit at AGS damage level, but without needed to use special attacks. Claws -> Claws -> Maul would have a large chance to 3 hit. Chaos Staff There is no reason to get this. SoL is better is almost every aspect. Chaos Crossbow +10 range attack is nice... but means very little when you can gain +100 from range armor. Chaos Sheild(Melee) It's like a mini-divine without the prayer loss. Decent for any melee combat and alot of different tasks. Good for Bandos, good for general boss-hunting, and good for PvP. Bad for slayer. Not much else to say, but this is a good choice for your tokens if you like pvp (wild or safe). Its melee stats are also better than the DFS, so good for melee tanking. Eagle Eye Sheld(Range) This shield is ok, but lacks alot of uses it could have been used for. #1 Its close to the defenses of a spectral, but lacks a prayer bonus, and -5 mage defense. It does have +5 range attack however +5 compared to +150 range bonus is very minimal its not even worth the expense of tokens. #2 The shield would be excelent at Arma except Arma (and minions) almost never hit above 200 alone. In-fact not only would the mage specials not activate at arma, but the only places they would is at DK's from prime or Corp. The real use for this shield would be 100% ranging at corp, and that is typically only done on masses or large teams. Farseer kiteshield(Mage) No bosses really require you to mage (aside from rex), so this shield is not significant at the moment. It might be used at barrows, but unless other bosses are added it has little to no use in PvM. It is good for maging in PvP however, both safe and wildy.
  14. No. Resetting after every time you complete a floor gives you the worst xp possible, aside from not completing a floor. In-fact its the same exact xp as if you had not reset anything at all, since you are basically getting 0 prestige bonus for resetting. Basically your getting around 25% of your possible xp for that round by resetting that way. There was another thread somewhere that explained how prestige worked, but the basics is, do each floor that you can once (From floor 1-20.. ect), and then and ONLY then do you hit reset. If you hit reset before you complete all the rooms you can, your xp will be reduced to what you could be earning.
  15. Thought this pick was amusing. Pickaxe animation lag + 800 people = ?
  16. I believe it is worth it, until level 69 at least. The main reason I say that is, the more levels you can gain, the faster you can get floors unlocked (and thus more overall prestige unlocked quicker). Since you will unlock prestige quicker with xp (because you don't have to repeat cycle so many times) you can do say like rooms 1-20 on 20 prestige instead of having to do rooms 1-18 on 18 prestige before a reset. Since that 20 prestige would carry over to EVERY room you do, that means the person spending token points on XP would get an extra 2 prestige before the other person did, and that means alot of xp. So spending the xp to get levels would give a huge benefit over not spending them, until level 69. After 69 it isn't really worth it to spend on xp since at that point prestige no longer raises.
  17. @sseli While the shields are really good Ely still has the advantage over these because it can be used in every situation regardless of combat type. If you want good protection from all 3 triangle types you'll need 3 shields, and that takes up space. You have have to switch to them, which would imply you know what your opponent is going to use and that is very unlikely to happen if they can switch quickly. But of the 3 chaos shields, I lean towards the melee one simply because melee has a higher hit. Spectral is still better than the chaos range shield, as +5 range means very little compared to like 200 range bonus of arma. The ONLY place and time I would ever use a chaos range shield is at solo Arma, simply because most of the damage there is mage based, and every range bonus counts at solo Arma. Even then, its a tossup to how effective it would be as her mage doesn't hit hit above 200 that frequently. It's just my personal opinion, but i feel melee is by far the best of the 3 because most people use melee and can hit very high with it. Even level 80's can hit close to the melee soak ratio on the shield. While it only has a 10% damage reduction it does have much higher melee stats, so its like a Suped-up DFS + a 10% melee damage reduction. The problem is really that mage and range have very low damage average (for most weapons) and thus would have a hard time activating the shield specials. Because of that I would lean towards the melee shield as the primary choice. But it depends what your forte is. If your a mage, the mage shield will benefit you much better. I wont buy a range shield tho, as I'd rather stick with spectral.
  18. They did make the NPC's moderately based on the combat triangle, or at least more-so than the way rs-world NPC's are. This isn't to say you *have* to follow the combat triangle in every instance though. It just makes it much easier. Like always, melee can be pumped up the majority of the time to take on most combat challenges effectively.
  19. Edit: Already answered
  20. I'm not so sure you should hold little hope for them. Keep in mind bosses are so easy right now because they were designed with super potions being the best possible stats. Now that extremes/overloads are already in the game long before these current bosses were in development, I can only assume Jagex will keep keep that trend and base overloads being the best possible stats against new bosses. In short, new P2P bosses are going to be harder. Much harder. Either way, sounds like a very promising week. Its been almost 2 YEARS since we've had a boss monster added to the game (C-Beast). I really hope this is what it is.
  21. Also in addition to peters post We wanted to clarify other things such as the video game forum and wow thread and other content before jumping in head first ignorantly making a mistake. Good :) That is nice to know that you took the time to do research without jumping on-board. As long as content is not being sacrificed, nor censored due to this update, I feel the partnership can only be a good thing. I just didn't understand the whole picture, but now i feel I at least understand more of it to suppress any worries I had. PS. It's hard to post, lots of people posting so fast :o
  22. I doubt anybody here actually cares about removing the ads itself, to be honest less ads=good. The problem most of us are having is that Tip.it has to give much a portion of its income in order to receive Jagex support(thus indirectly letting Jagex taking control). Now I doubt Jagex will one day completely take over Tip, it is just annoying to see something so trivial can cause a website to lose support. Ya I don't mind the ad removal at all. Infact I think its a good thing. Heck, I'd prefer if Jagex just payed Tipit and removed all the ads and replaced them with Runescape only ads. I have no problem with that. My question (or worry) is that if content on this fan-site will be treated as content that is produced in-game. I joke about things on this forum from time to time that would likley earn me a mute in-game if taken out of context. It has not happened yet, but would fear that it could happen in the future. DarkDude98 assured to me this would not be the case (ref page 4) and I will take his word for it, but do the other Admin's feel the same way? My question to Mod Hohbein is if he intends to treat content said on fansites as content said ingame or on Runescape Forums in the future? I think this agreement is overall positive, I just have worries that it could turn negative for the community as a whole if it advances past a certain point. Answered on previous page(s). Posts go to fast for me to type :(
  23. Glad your trips are going well. :^_^: Since you decided to use straight brews here's maybe a couple more things that can help you. 1) If your using 35 brews, stick 30 brews in your yak, and 5 in your inventory. This way you have access to all your super restores and don't have to worry about getting them out when you don't need them, and not being able to pull them out when you do need them. 2) Stick your uni pouch in the last slot of your yak (bottom right). This is so you know when your yak is empty, as it will pull the pouch out when you BoB if it's out of brews. Once you see the uni pouch you know its safe to kill your yak, and (assuming you free'd up some space with using restores) you should have plenty of brews left in inventory to use with your uni. 3) I *personally* find Kilisa much easier to tank than the mager. Most people say kill Kilisa first, but I find it easier to kill her 2nd as she is very inaccurate with melee attacks.
  24. I wrote content for another site at the time of release of MEP2 and was personally asked by Mod Mark not to write a guide for it. However they can not in anyway, shape, or form stop people from writing guides. They can REQUEST it, and people (Tip.It for example) abided by it for respect for Jagex, not for legal reasons. Ya they can't really use "brute force" to control fan sites, but they can use back-stab attacks to control them. All they have to say is: "Monitor all your threads and anyone posting a picture/knowledge of any unfair game-play/bug should be reported to us. If you don't comply with this your fan-site will be starred-out and reportable if said in-game." With a small quick step they have control of any fan-sites they want, and in the same way promote the ones over those that do not follow them. I'm not saying Jagex is "bad" per-say, I'm just saying its a move that, if not watched closely, could potentially end up ruining the great community we have produced here. Limiting ad's doesn't bother me, but the moment censorship begins here for in-game content, I feel that would be the end of any community freedom and individuality.
