Why would Jagex add them in the Rooms in the first place if they weren't meant to be killed? If they wanted to have them act as a challenge to run past they would have just put un-attack-able NPC's that fire lasers across the room and cant be prayed against. It's like going to GWD, killing the boss, and just ignoring all the Minions. If you play only for XP/Hr that's your thing, but that doesn't mean everyone else should too. IMHO Rushing floors for xp/hr simply makes it a dull skill of grinding xp/hr, when it has the ability to be so much more enjoyable. I'm not talking about clearing dead ends, but normal rooms you run through. If I can clear a solo medium (including clearing dead ends) in ~40 minutes, I don't see why a 5:5 large cant clear a large map (ignoring dead ends) in less than 60 minutes time? Firstly, this thread is about maximizing xp/hour for dungeoneering, based on extra binds, hence the arguments againt prom plate. Secondly, lagres are twice as big as mediums and the monsters scale with the number of players, making it not much faster than solo if all rooms are cleared. We've all done a dungeon for fun once but the discussion here is just based upon what can help you finish a dungeon first.

I don't usually wear my skillcapes. I'm completely fine with people going for 99s and achieveing goals, but if you're willing to spend 100+ hours for a cape that's ridiculous. Runescape is not about showing off, contrary to the popular belief of people who try to flaunt skillcapes. (not reffering to any of you, but if you wear a skillcape to impress people that's sad)

You'll get 1 WF task out of maybe 20 tasks, assuming you'd use the rapier on the other 19 tasks, the rapier saves you 57 minutes according to you vs, the 10 minutes the maul saves. The Rapier is FAR better for slayer then maul. It's honestly not even worth mentioning the maul for slayer :unsure: That may be true that maul is specifically not good for slayer, but when you end up with the extra tokens you might as well get it seeing as how 200k tokens will be possible in a few hours with warped floors.

Hello 99 theiving, dungeoneering and summoning.

I don't think this is going to get anywhere. No matter how you back up the rapier with mathematical facts, people will still tell you the cls is better, or vice versa etc. I've had experience with all 3 chaotic weapons myself...I wouldn't use cls for anything but skeletal wyverns. I tried explaining the fact that speed = dps to people in w117 deamonheim, but they kept telling me "cls has better stats" to which I replied "maul has better stats" to which they replied "but it's too slow". There are people in this thread that can properly vouch for the cls' uses, but no matter how hard anyone tries, no one can convince everyone which is best.

Oh, so we should drop our chaotic weapons and go get fulll DH because it has the potential to outpeform every chaotic weapon?

Just got my chaotic maul. I can vouch for the fact that Cr + Cm > Cls everywhere :P

There are simply too many people at most bosses for this reasoning to be realistic. The only "boss" I ever do is KBD on slayer task, and the only reason I do it is because of the 15% bonus I gain over those with overloads/steel titans. If you want to make money off bosses, you should get your stats higher. If you want to have fun doing bosses, go team in a non-ls world.

This thread would be a lot more successful if people would actually anaylze what the people are wearing...anything that's not a black mask/slayer helm in kuradal's dungeon/on a slayer task is obviosuly ridiculous.

As I said before, drumgun is currently looking for ways to earn money, and is only playing a bit less than usual. I frequent Jebrim's cc and Drumgun pops in every once in a while. It really surprised me when I heard he was training farming however.

Platebody is not released yet. All the new items were listed on the first few pages. Music randomly stops playing for me inside daemonehim. Also, I encountered a glitch where I stayed in a dungeon after the party voted to move on and I got the exp for the dungeon normally, as well as half the exp for exiting the now glitched dungeon.

Everytime I've seen zarfot slaying, he's been using prossy. I've also only seen his spec with d claws.

Atm drumgun is doing bosses for money, and using effigies on slayer. Why he chose to do them now instead of before eludes me.

Larryr has been at 156M since mid 2006... he then quit.. dunno reason.. and remained the number 1 RCer for 2-3 years straight (while being a retired player) until Phoenix Odin finally passed him... what larryr did was and is pretty amazing considering he got 100% of his exp by personally running the nats. Before Hunter, before Summoning. but anyways, on topic: read the last 2-3 pages (which I hadn't read before). Was pretty cool to see Aasiwat/Skiller post :P. I also wondered if any of the top players read this thread, I guess they do. Hmmm Larryr had people running essence for him/her before the restriction on trades... Still amazing but what Phoenix Odin achieved is harder IMO. Oh well. Phoenix Odin only has 44M (or something near it) more exp than Larryr.. and he achieved that years later when you could use Hunter to reduce your weight, and certain quest items.. as well as with familiars to carry him stuff. I personally consider that it was harder for Larryr than for Phoenix.. back then like only 2 or 3 people had 200M in a skill, and seeing larryr at 100M+ was amazing o.o... I remember when the combat hiscores weren't so filled up with 200Ms. It was mostly Omarsherif, Samanthanz, Miles15, and another one I can't remember. :) Sorry for the quote wall. Larryr stood at the nature altar getting traded ess for hours, while phoenix odin actually run his own ess for significantly less exp per hour. I don't see how what larryr did was even difficult in the slightest.

Effigies are supposed to be rewards for players with high level skills, as jagex said with the update. The already ridiculous amount of experience that can be gained off effigy assisting should not be increased.

How long did rapier take to get? Why are you wasting money slaying with rapier? Why are you slaying past 99? Can I borrow your claws? How many tries did nomad take? Are you 91 herblore?

Dclaws for sure. Remember to use the stab option, I find it helps a lot.

To answer op's question, since you have maxed melee I'd say get rapier. A friend of mine recently got cls, and I recently got rapier. we decided to go against eachother in tasks, boss hunting etc. to see which weapon was better. Neither of us have access to extremes, but he has turmoil whereas I do not. In every slayer task, I beat him by about 10-20 kills for tasks of about 100 monsters with myself using piety and him using turmoil. Using the exact same setup for bandos/ zammy, I ended up with a few more brews/rocktails than him in the end. In everything we've tried, rapier has beaten out the cls. This may not apply to someone with lower stats than you and I, but at your level you must certainly want the rapier.

I'm still not going to do level 3 clues, but since I'm good at celtic knots I figure elite clues would be good for me to do. I've only done one so far, but I got an 800k reward and the clue only took 20 minutes. If I continue to get any sort of luck, I'll be doing level 4s for a long time. (Got a fury ornament from clue)
