31-Aug-2011 The Branches of Darkmeyer
Best quest this year without a doubt, although I am a little biased. Pretty much everything was solid, there were no stupid gimmicks or item fetching parts to artificially make it longer. The new city looks rad, shame there isn't much to do there yet but new areas are always welcome. Vanstrom was a pretty interesting and fun boss to fight. Although he wasn't that difficult I commend them for making a boss that wasn't *pot, pray, watch boss die* and really look forward to what is potentially the last Myreque quest.

To be fair: Jagex have confirmed ROTM isn't the "end" for the mahjratt. It just ties up the on-going ritual story arc, and according to the 15% membership news post ties up Lucien's plot. We still have several big mahjratt based plots to bubble along nicely AND jagex did say somewhere ROTM will actually start off 1 or 2 new mahjratt stories (eg sliske). I mean there heaps of mahjratt stuff left to do. Hazeel's next step, Azzandra restoring Zaros, Jhallan post-ritual, Zemergoul's next move in his quest for varrock and us nicking Arrav's heart, Enkhara and Anthankos on-going feud, General Khazard being stuck in the shadow plain and hating us, Bilrach's dealings under daemonheim. They didn't say RotM would give way to new Mahjarrat storylines. If I remember correctly, Paul's devblog said that the quest will give rise to several interesting overarching storylines only touched on previously. One of these is undoubtedly going to be the Dragonkin. Also, I don't really see much point in having individual Mahjarrat related quests post RotM and I expect to see most of the loose ends you mentioned tied up in the quest itself. Afterall, what's the point in having a quest with Zemouregal just attacking Varrock again only with added power. The only Mahjarrat I hope to see with his own questline post RotM is Sliske, mainly because he has close ties to the Barrows brothers and Nex which would be interesting to see more of. Also, if ANY of the the signature heroes are in this quest, I'll go find the dev that ruined arguably one of the best and only good storylines left in the game and put his head through the computer screen. 23-Aug-2011 New Rewards for Minigames
Does anyone know if the Sceptre of the Gods is only obtainable from the last room? I know the wiki says it is but I'm inclined to take what it says with a pinch of salt on new content.

New Slayer cave
I'd love to see some more drops that can be attached to existing items to enhance them. Not only are such drops valuable but they enhance outdated equipment. As long as the bonuses from said item are better than the vine whip I think it would be pretty cool to see some attachments for rune armour or something that needs a High Smithing level to attach.

Doesn't look like it, look up Godly Cheese on adv log though.

So, uh, what happens if you run to get back in the mini-game and close the interface? It better be something that you can't close unless you hit the "close" button and then choose "yes I want to close this." Which would be annoying, but not as annoying as, say, running to the bank after a C Wars game and seeing the interface pop up for half a second. I have a bull[cabbage] theory: the drops are actually quite common, it's just the interface takes a long time to load - every player who the game has tried to give the interface to wandered off to do something else, closing the interface, before it appeared. I thought this too. Why they thought a click interruptible interface was a good idea in the first place is beyond me. Also, I really don't know which threads they are but multiple J-Mods have posted stating that if your inventory is full and you get the reward window you won't receive the item and you'll miss your chance. The same thing goes for if you accidentally close it.

So, did you enter? You can't go in, it gives you a message along the lines of "You see no reason to go in there right now."

I'd imagine you'll be in for a wait considering pretty much every reward with this update seems to be [developmentally delayed]edly rare. You're probably better off getting it yourself.

23-Aug-2011 New Rewards for Minigames
So after the soul crushing realisation that one necro kit only = one piece being upgraded I gave up trying to get the last two and went and played some minigames. Seriously, does anyone know ANYONE that has got a piece of hybrid armour yet? Considering how generally pointless it is outside of minigames I didn't expect it to be so stupidly rare. It's pretty hilarious to be honest, as usual, a lucky few will get a set of battle Mage and be practically god like in comparison to others with normal gear. Rare is ok but this seems to be on the same rarity level as champion scrolls. It's such poor game design I'm beginning to think I could program and code a better game than this with no knowledge in programming whatsoever.

You'll need a Mobilizing armies rank of 1000. /wrists. Nothing they do will make that abortion of a minigame fun and popular.

Barrow isn't a mini-game as such though. It's just a unique mechanic dungeon just with a very specific goal; much like smoky well, swamp caves etc. I wouldn't compare Barrows to the smokey well, but I know what your saying. Even so, I wouldn't be surprised to see them make Barrows a method of obtaining it. Considering they said it would be available from a variety of different ones I'd imagine they're going to implement some kind of universal minigame currency or something.

I'm interested to see which minigames the Hybrid Armour will be obtainable from. If I had to guess I'd say it'll probably be exclusive to combat minigames only. Would love to see it added to Barrows or Pest Control.

It wouldn't be so bad if there weren't like 6 of them on the hard route coupled with the fact that Ivandis flail is the slowest piece of [cabbage] ever lol. Also Chris L is easily one of the best, if not THE best developers working for Jagex right now. I loved TT before but now it is just awesome.

Perhaps you didn't notice that the Edgeville updates were not mentioned anywhere near the start of the BTS. That rule does not always apply. But yes, in this specific case, it does say finally. Hence why I added the additional sentence where it said 'Finally' which you conveniently left out of the quote taking it out of context. @Urza, please learn the definition of troll, my post wasn't flame baiting intentionally or otherwise. Also, it doesn't take a rabid fanboy to remember the order of a small article like the BTS. If you can't remember that then god only knows how forgetful you must be. Intentionally or not... people need to watch how they respond to others. And your still doing it. I don't appreciate people degrading me. I think you need to take you're own advice. Calling troll at the slightest thing isn't exactly friendly and respectful. Also it is a phrase which many people view as degrading/insulting towards them when used as you did; as they are not trolling and making a genuine point. Don't be so dam sensitive, my first post wasn't even directly aimed at you. Like Accursed said, I was advising people to not expect anything other than temple trekking as the BTS more often that not follows the order in which the updates are presented in it.

People need to learn how to read the BTS. The updated minigame rewards are the last thing mentioned in the BTS. Considering that the same paragraph started with "Finally this month" I expect next weeks update to be the temple trekking update and nothing else.

Which Jagex Mod Would You Interview?
Mod Tytn left Jagex earlier in the year which is a shame because he'd be my first choice too. As for Emilee, she's only community management and by the looks of it most people want content developers. Personally I say Paul and Mod Mark.

Whilst this may be true, (Trouble Brewing is probably my favourite minigame) there's also ones that are just flat out bad game design. Fun is obviously very subjective but even so, minigames like GOP are just plain boring; the simplicity and basic nature of it just Borders on the mundane. Not to mention that bots in such minigames are widespread because they take minimal strategy and can be afk'd.

got scamemd, just need to talk,
I agree with you, however since the world isnt perfect I see it as a good thing that people are taught not to trust people who offer them free crap over the internet or real life. Can you honestly say that OP getting scammed is bad if he learned this lesson of how to survive in this imperfect world. Stop being so nearsighted and focus on the whole picture and you will see why i condone it. Pretty sad that you cant see that I don't know where this belief comes from that getting scammed in a game like Runescape gives you transferable experience to apply to real life situations. If someone is intent on taking your money in real life, they aren't going to try and scam you, they're just going to take it. Unlike real life, you can't be mugged or assaulted in a video game. People need to stop acting like Runescape is an invaluable tool in teaching life lessons lol.

Yes, but giving Slayer an untradeable new drop isn't some creative new direction for the skill. Making a new, unique Slayer drop untradeable would be like only letting runes made by a player using Rc to be used by themselves and nobody else.

I agree with xpx on this. Saying that the Slayer skill isn't about the unique drops is just a nonsensical thing to say. If none of the unique slayer mobs had their own drops what would distinguish them from any other normal mob. Also, every single unique slayer item is tradeable, (that I can think of anyway) why bother to upset peoples expectations now? When a new slayer monster is released discussion immediately moves to what it's new, sellable drop will be.
