  1. ...wat There's nothing efficient to do at the Grand Tree, in all honesty. Yes, but I think Jagex were worried there was and that this would upset somebody. After all, efficient people are their main member playerbase. What are you talking about?
  2. So it doesn't count as hype, because we should have known Jagex was lying? Hype is making something sound better than it is, and that's exactly what they did. A revamp implies fixing the skill, not turning it into another cooking. Lying is an exaggeration. I'm saying that the way Jagex word things more than often leads to misleading interpretations. To say that overhyping this update is entirely Jagex's fault is a pretty shortsighted viewpoint. So whose fault is it? The people who pay for updates? No. Jagex is the one that has the responsibility here. The players aren't accountable for expecting Jagex to not make stupid updates, Jagex is accountable for making updates sound more appealing than they are, when in reality what they're working on is garbage that's the opposite of what players want. It's not like Jagex is incapable of finding out what players want. Hell, they could even play the game themselves, and then they'd KNOW that this update was a stupid idea. Instead they continue acting as though they're completely isolated from player opinion and poisoning the game, deaf to all criticism. Totally the players' fault. I agree that this update is essentially pointless and couldn't be further away from the update that Smithing needs, I said this earlier. Yes, Jagex has the responsibility to inform players on what the update is but they aren't responsible for how players interpret what they say. Like I said earlier they never said the Smithing Update was going to revolutionise the skill, they said 'revamp'. That word is pretty open to interpretation, there isn't one single linear way to revamp a skill so clearly players are going to misinterpret what they say. I agree with the rest of your post.

  4. Actually, I think you'll find that this update was overhyped by the players more so than by Jagex themselves. In 90% of cases players just overhype every anticipated update. A pretty good example being FTP3. I can only recall a handful of occasions where Jagex have even mentioned the smithing update. That being said this is clearly the complete opposite to what everyone wanted and the worst part is Jagex know what we wanted but failed to deliver as per usual. No actually I think you find jagex overhyped it. I would like to see this overhyping. It's not as if they even made reference to it as one of the major highlights of this years updates. They never said it was going to revolutionise Smithing either. To Green, I would have thought it was quite obvious by now that what Jagex say and what they mean are two entirely different things.

  6. Agreed 110%. It actually pisses me off that my money contributed to this sorry excuse of an update. ;_; In your haste to whine you forget that Jagex hinted that Hati will be back, so why do you say that the programming is "wasted"? If they're developing a rotating set of temporary bosses, I think that's a nice addition. Each of us can look forward to the return of the one that we like best. It also means Jagex have to put less effort into making new content instead of just recycling the same piece of content every year. I honestly won't be surprised if a year or two down the line every month will have an event like Hati and Wildyworms that just get rotated in and out of the game when the date comes around. I've seen this happen with other MMO's and after a while it just gets massively repetitive. We already know that Hati's brother Sköll will most probably be released sometime in the Spring/Summer so that's already three months covered.
  7. I lol'd. This has happened to me a few times.
  8. If it has no Slayer req, your theory is fine. However, if it does have one and it becomes a clan orientated update then it will just show how [developmentally delayed]ed Jagex are.
  9. Lol Lol v2 So if someone dislikes the wilderness for any of the thousands of possible reasons there are that means they've NEVER pked? That is so logical, nothing about that sounds wrong to me, actually that sounds 100% factual. /end of sarcasm WHY do people not realise that this imaginary divide between skillers and pkers is [bleep]ing mindblowingly stupid. You know, it is possible to "skill" and pk with one account right? You know your not restricted to one or the other...right? they haven't pk'd enough to make a sensible argument about it, so I'd assume so. The only argument I've seen is pkers sad!!!!!!!!! kill me when do clue omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To me that seems like someone who's never done a damn thing regarding pking. If you can provide some form of proof that you have entered the wilderness to do something other than spy on penguins and get your yew comp bow from a clue(and still dislike it) I will cease my argument. You must have misunderstood me. I didn't once say I dislike the wilderness so I don't need to prove anything. I like to pk and I also like to skill; because it is possible to do both however hard that may be to comprehend.

  11. I'm so sick of the risk vs reward [cabbage], it's like a stuck record. Unless this thing drops something worth in the millions on a regular basis then the content is worthless. If it does have a Slayer requirement to kill it's just going to turn into the fire cape/Ice Wyrm fiasco again. If it's not fair to ask a player to kill a 702 boss to kill a monster that's part of a skill how is it fair to ask a player to essentially fight a [wagon] clan trying to rush you like fat guys after chocolate? Oh wait, it isn't because it's essentially the same thing. Disclaimer: I have a fire cape so don't bother bringing that up. Of course, this Is all hypothetical.
  12. You definitely should NOT make any more of these. That voice was just...terrible.
  13. I'd bet my bank that it will turn out Bilrach is already dead.
  14. Nice sarcasm there, you know that's the lowest form of wit right? Why should I counter anything he said? All he does is post on threads like these with comments such as "how cute you guys defend Rs" or "It's funny to see the little kids defend Rs". All he does is troll to the extent that he starts praising WoW as the best MMO in the universe on a forum he knows will get a flammatory response. Also, next time you have a problem with my post PM me instead of randomly attacking me in a thread. Kthxbai.
  15. Fix'd Why bother to post here? Whether you believe it or not, EVERY MMO in existence has a form of grinding in it, its the fundamental reason why MMO's last as long as they do.
  16. It's threads like this that make me wonder if some people actually know what an MMORPG actually is. By their very nature, MMO's are designed and INTENDED to be games where social interaction in a vast sprawling world should take place. Every single MMO out there whether they claim to or not have a form of grinding that is there for the purpose of making the player spend time by working towards a goal. If you want something where you can walk around with a virtual avatar and speak to people Use IMVU or Habbo (does it even exist anymore?) If you think Runescape is bad try playing Final Fantasy 11. You could literally spend your life playing that game and still not be in sight of the end game. Tl;dr - You need to learn what an MMO is.
  17. Yes, remove the only tangible reward for training the skill. That will definitely make the skill more fun. Currently, the only incentive besides reputation that gathering and production skill have are the untradeable rewards. That's why skills like smithing, crafting and fletching are useless, and are treater as total level fodder. A thousand times this. Unless a skill has a high level untraceable reward to it, there is just no reason to level the skill at all. Prayer and Herblore and even Construction to a certain extent (but albeit completely different reason) are all expensive to train because they offer rewards that cannot be bought. Taking Slayer as an example, look at the prices of whips and SoL's, all of the unique drops from Slayer are starting to hit rock bottom because the spoils are tradeable. Unless a skill has an untraceable reward it may aswell not exist.
  18. Both of those links are useless fluff. I see so many graphs thrown around these forums and this one is no different in that it does not directly correlate to anything when relating it to the size of the playerbase. As for the article, did you know I'm actually Andrew Gower? See, I can make a claim to be someone without any proof whatsoever, does that make it true?
  19. Many people don't seem to understand what an investor actually is. These companies aren't going to get a say in what goes into the game, and frankly, I doubt they even give a [cabbage]. As long as they get what they put into it plus interest back, the game could go to hell for all they care.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiyH4QS8nCk Nobody can say it better than him I lol'd. Possibly the best video I've ever seen.
  21. Killing black demons is a joke. Cannon with prayer and its a cakewalk. Plus you get great crimsons charm drops, decent rate for effigies, and soon what could be great prayer exp. Ill take half the prayer exp for the charms and effigies that green/blue dragons lack any day of the week. Way to read my entire post. I didn't say Black Demons were hard to kill, I said that in comparison to Dragon bones dropping from a level 79 monster the minimum you need for Infernal ashes is either 80 Slayer or the ability to kill a level 172.
  22. Is anyone else sick of people whining about free trade whiners?
  23. Alot of people seem to be overlooking the fact that, to get Infernal ashes, you either need to have a minimum level of 80 Slayer, or be able to kill Black demons. Both of those may be pretty trivial to do nowadays but if you compare this to dragon bones, they drop off a lvl 79 monster that has no requirement to kill. Even if you bring the argument that Green Dragons are wilderness exclusive monsters into the discussion, there are still Blue dragons who are also a lower level than Nechs. I seriously expect the Infernal ashes to give more experience than dragon bones and I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that Greaters and lessees drop are somewhere inbetween dragon and big bones.
