  1. [hide] You do realise you just contradicted yourself right? If someone can be more efficient at Td's by 'getting better' (lol vague) then the exact same thing can happen with Nex. I've done a few kills of Nex with a 15ish man team and her K.O potential isn't vastly different from Corp to be honest. Why is it a good thing that new armour comes out that nobody other than the richest can buy? Does it boost your virtual ego? Other than that, I see the prices of these items as absurd. Once again were going to go through the ridiculous cycle of what happened to divine and ely. Every piece that enters the Market will be snatched up by merchers that don't even use it for it's intended purpose making the entire update pointless. When will Jagex realise that being high level doesn't mean you automatically have max money. One simple reason: NOT EVERYONE NEEDS EVERYTHING. I don't have any torva. If I stick with RS instead of quitting, then I'll have a hard goal. Things shouldn't be too easy to get. There is no real "end game" content in RS. Hopefully we have some here that is "end game". Expensive to buy, or quite hard to get without actually being decent. No more of this low level mass crap. Now it needs skill, rather then luck. Why is it bad that only a few people can afford something? It gives a goal. Believe me, having the best of everything is kind of boring. Money loses value quickly with only skills and supplies to buy, why monster hunt when a week of MHing will keep me skilling for a month plus? Its part of why I'm enjoying WoW. There are actually things for me to do. Now if I want 120 dg, I grind for 3 months. Same for other skills. I've mastered all the bosses I enjoy and are profitable, I had the best gear, and I had all the 99's I enjoyed. Now there is a new, hopefully hard boss to master, and new gear that might actually take me months to either LS or buy! This gear isn't so much better then other armor that people will really lose out by not having it. In fact, bandos and arma will drop enough to become more accessible. But its a goal. And free trade will limit merchants heavily, in one sense. They will still "flip" items, but instead of having to upgrade items, or use junk, or camp snipe GE, you can buy an item for its actual street price. [/hide] I'm not trying to start an argument here but HOW exactly does this update now make obtaining these armours skill based rather than luck based? Nex needs to be killed in a team, the items have a drop rate and they are tradeable. So Nex works like every other boss which makes every one of it's drops luck based. Again, this isn't end game content, it's level 80 armour with a price that FAR surpasses the reach in price terms of a large portion of people that can actually use it. This update is just further proof that Jagex have no idea how to introduce new equipment into the game other than attaching it to a boss that is entirely luck based in relation to getting it's new drops.

When will Jagex realise that being high level doesn't mean you automatically have max money. Yeah, you're right, let's just let the game end when you get level 80 in all stats and a 100m bank. That'd be much better. What is this bull [cabbage] about endgame content? Wow, you really need to understand how to look past your close minded point of view. Generalising my entire comment into one argument is pretty pointless aswell. Endgame content = good However, this ISN'T endgame content. It's content for people with level 80 stats, not 99. Level 80 in a skill is such a stupidly small fraction of the experience to 99 that this could hardly be called a high level update beyond the fact that the boss is challenging. I suppose you think it's a stellar idea to release super awesome and expensive armour into a game where practically the entire market for rare and expensive items is controlled by people who aren't going to use it for anything other than looks and bragging rights. Lol, what a joke.

  4. From what I've seen and experienced, ruby bolt (e) damage seems to be capped at 500. Edit: beat me to it ^
  5. If you want to do that, go to castle wars. Face it, you only want to kill them because you can't pk someone with actual gear to save your life. Skillers have just as much right to use the wildy as anyone, risk vs reward does have an actual meaning you know.
  6. Yes, let's use "it was that way in the past" as the only thing that can make something good or bad. Excellent argument. I guess we need to remove the GE, new graphics options, make-X in everything, GWD, and a hell of a lot of other updates. After all, that's how it was before, so it must be better, right? Putting PKers somewhere where they can only fight other PKers was the best thing to come out of the anti-RWT revolution. We don't need to downgrade the game because some kids who can't kill people who are ready to fight want weaker targets to pick on. Pretty much agree with everything said here. On another note, people seem to be readily ignoring the fact that the risk vs reward of the old wildy being re-introduced would be so heavily one sided that it's absurd. Why is anyone going to bother trying to get a god staff or cape in the deepest reaches of the wilderness if the staff is trash in comparison to the majority of today's equipment. Considering a person can be dropped by a barrage and one KS spec, the wildy needs to have a far better reward factor if Jagex so adamantly insists on putting it back into every world.
  7. To kill each boss requries 40kc in its encampment, lol. Nice reading skills. Your statement has no relevance to what I said at all.
  8. Whilst a high Dungeoneering level to access the boss would be pretty awesome, I really hope they don't put one there, at least not a high one. The only thing putting a Dg requirement on the boss will do is make all of it's drops even rarer and more expensive than they already will be. Also, a lot of people are saying they think 40 kc for each faction will be needed to get in there. Personally, I think it's much more likely that Jagex will make it so one of each boss has to be killed to release each seal on the frozen door. This would make much more sense to be honest, as it will prove that the player can at least kill the other four bosses before getting his ass handed to him by Nex. As long as they made it a one time requirement so the door stayed open I think it would work fine.
  9. This update is going to be the best ever. I get to see all the new, awesome and not at all overhyped items flood into a Market where merch clans are cool and don't manipulate the prices on any and Every new item to the point that they are unobtainable by the people that actually want to use them for their intended purpose. /sarcasm Seriously though, if the drop rates for this boss are anything like Corp, then they may aswell make it drop noted buckets.
  10. 0phathead0 was a well known and respected member of the PKing and dueling community before the trade updates happened. There is no doubt that he has returned to troll the people who are opposing this update. He is definitely a smart person and a skilled player. He clearly is an effective and un-obvious troll Except im not opposing the old wilderness coming back. I'm simply asking other people their opinions on this topic. It's probably my own fault for not making the topic clear enough but this is more about the development time its going to take to do this rather than what they are actually going to do with it. To me, this doesn't look like an easy thing to do and the more development time it takes to do, the less time Jagex are going to have to create new, interesting content.
  11. [/hide] Those are good points. However, this thread is just as much about your points as much as it is about the developments time this will take to implement. Time that will be taken away from creating new content. Too bad you didnt speak up 3 years ago. Maybe they would have realized that instead of taking time to design the GE, two versions of BH, new duel tournaments, PvP worlds, incremented trade limits, the lending system....they could have used that time to develop new content. They already wasted a lot of development time to make the game worse...they might as well spend some time implementing changes that will make it better. World 2 trading was terrible, the Grand Exchange was an update that should, and probably would have happened regardless of if they had taken away free trade and old wildy. As for making the game worse, thats a pretty pointless opinion that not many people are going to share with you unless said people are also pkers themselves.

  13. Before this topic begins, I want to make one thing clear, I have been playing this game since 2003 so if you want to start throwing around the already irritating and annoying statement of "L0L n00b u d1nt ev3n play 1n teh dayz of teh old wildeh" turn around and exit the thread. Another thing I want to point out, I am 100% indifferent about whether this update goes ahead or not. I used to enjoy pking a lot in the old wildy and nothing is quite as fun as pking at the mage arena. Anyway, the topic at hand, a lot of my friends (myself included) have yet to cast a vote (not like it matters) on whether to say yes or no, not because we hate wildy but because of this; relocating existing content. Here's a list of the majority of the updates that have been released since 2007 that relate to the wilderness. (If I forget any, please remind me) - Spirit of Summer/Summers End - Corporeal Beast - All Fired Up - Beacon Network - Inferno Adze - The Temple at Senntisten - Ancient Curses - Clan Wars - Wilderness Volcano - Defender of Varrock - Armoured Zombies - Stealing Creation - Chaos Tunnels - Bork - Penguins Theres probably some I missed, but heres the thing. Aside from having to relocate quest areas, which will disrupt the lore of certain quests (whether you care or not, this isn't just a trivial matter) This will be a massive undertaking on Jagex's part to relocate all this content. Aside from essentially having to create entirely new areas of the map to relocate such areas as the castle used in Temple at Senntisten, the ruined farm used in the Summer quests or the entire minigame area of Stealing Creation, this is going to take up a large portion of possibly the most valuable thing in the world; time. Most of these areas can't just be dumped in an already existing area outside of the wildneress, especially as the existing map is pretty full of content. So I ask you this, do you think the reintroduction of the old wilderness is going to have a major impact on new content that Jagex plan to make, do you think it's worth the sacrifice of new content so that Jagex can instead undertake this massive task?
  14. Got this on Monday; Decided to go to Barrows today out of boredom, turned out to be worth my time. Fail cropping is fail.
  15. You know .. not everyone who doesn't want to experience this [cabbage] again is a "post-trade update product" Corp aside, it really does make you a post-trade update product. This complacence with the lack of danger in the wilderness should never have existed in the first place To be honest, I wonder if YOU were around before free trade and old wildy were removed. Let me make one thing clear, I really couldn't give two [cabbage]s whether they are both put back or not. I enjoyed old pking and am more concerned with the grand exchange becoming obsolete over anything else. Before you accuse me of being a post removal product, spare it. People who say standing around in world 2 giving themselves carpel tunnel syndrome by spamming the same message a million times was not fun or productive. In my eyes, anyone who fondly remembers that needs to take off those rose tinted glasses. Anyway, to the case in point, in the three years that the old wildy has been absent these major updates have been implemented into the wilderness: - Spirit of Summer/Summers End - Corporeal Beast - All Fired Up - Beacon lighting - Inferno Adze - The Temple at Senntisten - Clan Wars/Wilderness Volcano - Stealing Creation - Chaos Tunnels Now, what everyone needs to remember is, these updates, the quests especially were introduced into a game where pkers didn't exist. Being constantly killed whilst trying to do a quest in a game like Runescape would be utterly stupid and short-sighted on Jagex's part. Not to mention the fact that people ARE going to complain that a massive inbalance has happened in relation to how unfair it is that people were able to do all these things whilst pking didn't exist and that anyone that tried to do so with old wildy back would be at an unfair disadvantage. The wilderness and the game as a whole has changed drastically since the old wildy was taken away, if people are products of updates as you so suggest, then it is just as easily feasible that you are the sorry victim of nostalgia.
  16. You guys might want to watch this before you start taking it seriously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKa4j-8O5oQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  17. Sounds more like Sliske than anyone else to be honest.
  18. I've already been down there and yes, it is true. Also when you first approach the door, the screen shakes similar to when thunderous is let out of his prison. Mod Hunter was just at the door but didn't give much away I took a SS will post it later.
  19. Looks like the God wars dungeon is going to be updated rather soon, the frozen door has started talking. Credit to this thread for finding it: 16-17-646-62037353
  20. Oh. Well, I can see that... But evil/dark/etc. armor that would increase life points? Still sounds a bit like a long shot. As untrustworthy as the RSOF are most of the time, there's a thread there with numerous people swearing blind that they saw the article on KB before it was changed. Whether this is true or not, the fact that the word torva isn't capitalised leads me to believe that it's a new type of ore, perhaps related to the smithing rework. Assuming the screenshot is true obviously.
  21. I'm pretty interested to see how this update is going to affect the price of dclaws. Won't be surprised if they rise past the 33m mark they were settled on before they crashed. This makes chaotic kite an even better substitute for DFS, (albeit without the str bonus) shame that a 200k obby shield has almost the same soaking stats as the chaotic shields though.
  22. The only thing im interested in on this topic. What the hell is a hot pocket?
  23. If only there was a thread made specifically for introductions and goodbyes. O wait...
  24. And what the hell is rotm anyways? ROTM = Ritual of the Mahjarrat.
