  1. Don't smelt or superheat gold ore on BXPW. The bonus from the gauntlets does not stack with the multiplier. As for what's cheapest or best for you, check out grimy's spreadsheets or the RS wiki gp/xp tables and don't forget to take into consideration how slow/fast the xp rate is. I figured most people would have their things sorted however this is a half-helpful, half-satirical post on just why BXPW is daft & if you don't make the most of it then you are an idiot. You either have to grind out skills you don't enjoy in order to save yourself some time/money/effort, or don't utilise the time properly. Whether you actively or passively participate, ultimately everyone is an idiot. Thx Jagex
  2. Bonus XP weekend is 1 week away, although affectionately dubbed No-Lifing weekend and what could be perceived as a grind-a-thon, ultimately saving time, effort & money is the goal. People may argue - it's a game I play it for fun, if i'm not having fun I don't play it. Having said that this particular game requires an awful lot of time & effort to unlock the majorty if content, features & abilities available to you. It also requires doing things that may not be to your liking, to be able to access content that IS to your liking. Unfortunately due to game design certain skills are still broken & it's best to "get things out of the way" if you can, besides a little bit of mental motivation or self discipline can only help in your development as a person right? :P Anyway breaking down skills for bonus XP weekend. Combat Melee - This is essentially free and can be afk'd if need be, there is absolutely no reason to train this specifically. Ranged - Not a bad option if you are a pure or something as you get more XP per chin or cannonball depending how you are training. Prayer - lol Magic - Not a bad option to save some cash but still be able to use a fast method (don't alc or superheat lol) Grindables/Slow XP Agility/Firemaking/Mining - All 3 can be trained at a 2x rate with horn if you dislike them in the first place, however if you dislike BA as well, these aren't bad choices. Fishing - Only if you suck it up and do barbarian fishing, other fishing methods are afk and saving an hour of multitasking doesn't seem worth it. Woodcutting - If you hate this skill you should do Ivy, you can play an entirely different game and still get close to max xp rate lol - Don't do this on BXPW. Runecrafting - Should be done at ZMI if you have no money for buyables, or is quite low as a skill. It's generally accepted that Runecrafting is quite tedious, so knocking off a few levels for the benefits they may give (70 Surgebox in DG). However if you do receive effigies the lamps should generally be spent on this or agility making it slightly pointless to grind out the skill, unless it's for an immediate reward. Buyables/Fast XP Herblore - An important, expensive buyable that the majority who cannot make overloads, should be doing. However if you have the ability to already make overloads easily 93/94-96, you should perhaps not do it since you will get 99 eventually from making ext/ovl's in the future. Construction - A great buyable to do due to the tedium of clicking involved & not getting random events. Although this is a fast skill as it is, the clicking & costs involved is a major put off for some & should be considered. Crafting/Smithing - A moderately expensive skill at times, this is another fast bank skill which is a lot less tedious than it's construction counterpart. Should only really be done if you already have your desired Construction level Hunter/Thieving - Both moderately tedious skills being that they can't be multitasked well and require a lot of attention & clicking. Both should be only be considered IF you have no buyables left to do. Fletching/Cooking - Both are considered fast, easy buyables and probably should not be done on BXPW. They also serve no real purpose to rush to a high level in. Farming - If done correctly you may save several DAYS of doing the skill & quite a bit on the gp/xp of the seeds. Also for the time it takes to do it, this goes great in partnership of doing other skills as well. However unless you dislike routine, rushing farming isn't necessarily a good thing, unless you want the immediate rewards of having a high skill (Effigy/Dungeoneering) Misc Dungeoneering - If you are 100+ and don't care much for tokens this is a great skill to do if you have a great, permanent team arranged for it. Slayer - Last resort, if you honestly don't care about BXP and maximizing time or money saved, or are a maxed player (or as maxed as you care for) then you should perhaps be doing this & making the most of quiet spots :P Summoning - No brainer, if you have charms use them once your multiplier is down to 1.1x. At the end of the day, how tedious or how much effort a skill takes is entirely individual, however categorically, certain skills suck for a reason & utilising your time to ultimately spend less time doing them is generally a big consideration at least to those who have goals of maxing or need X level to attain it's reward. Oh & don't forget to have FUN on BXPW... LOL
  3. Don't forget latency/ping as a factor as well
  4. That's entirely assuming - it's him.
  5. No they won't be anywhere near crawlers, it's just seeing whether or not they are worth doing for Slayer. previously with the old spot it was a bit of a waste for slayer - hard to get a world & mediocre XP. If they are ~600kph they wouldn't be much worse than dagannoths for effigies & the tradeoff would perhaps be if you can get 60k slay xp/hr equiv it might be worth doing in that 11/12th spot.
  6. Wat. It's a separate chamber accessible by a separate entrance near the fairy ring. there are 3/4 soldiers & 2 guardians in there. I'll test it tonight and give you a kill rate >_>
  7. Mining rooms give a lot of XP. 4 x 4 rocks - ~400xp each depending what level is required + 400 construction xp (again depending on the level) for putting struts up. Thieving Chests depending on level also give good xp. (Like 1k a chest I think for lvl 90 ones) Fishing is the stand out one - 200xp per fish or thereabouts, takes 30 secs a spot - it's a quick 2-3k xp or so depending.
  8. Sorry for being a noob but to clarify You're replacing the defender + void gloves for void deflector + barrows gloves yeah? Yes that is the highest str bonus you can sub in using a deflector.
  9. Oh for camping - Max Str gear will still be close to void, but it's not overly significant due to the cannon output. If you decide to take summoning pots (like a yak full lol) you can do hide & bones but it will be a decent amount of clicking, but at say a reduced kill rate of 160 (due to all the clicking, however if you don't pick up greens/golds this is reduced a little) and costs of 2000 cballs or so, you're still looking at 1m profit & a potential effigy of 1:45 hrs or so (1:30 is at max kph). that profit is also not taking into account potential visage drop, but without knowing the rate it's difficult to say what that's worth. I love crawlers, but I'm just not rich enough to stay there outside of my testing :( As for Frost Dragons. I don't mind them & the process of killing them. What I do mind is the dependency of 1 spot per world to achieve a decent kill rate & the fact they are packed to the rafters and people will grief/interrupt you assuming you manage to find a world with an open spot. Not really what I see as fun for any term of camping, I'd rather earn less money elsewhere and not deal with the hassle lol.
  10. You will get close to 200 kph in Full Slayer gear. Extremes are also fine since cannon does most of the work, ovl's were just for testing. For a slayer task since you;ll get <100, summon pots will work well and you can bank everything, good profit in the time it takes. They are also an uncommon task
  11. Anyway doing crawler test now, will check this topic in 1hr
  12. I didn't mention the word Slayer, anywhere, i'm not that thick lol. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tfeY6IZSAc7pXteJCZ2SMYw&rm=full&authkey=CPLmztMI#gid=0 Take a look at that Enaid. I edited a copy of Grimys calc for myself using only the relevant parts. All the figures from the setups are in there already - just look at the Chaotic Rapier parts only (the rest is inaccurate random figures). Top is Void + Deflect Middle is Void + Defender Bottom is Max (Ardy Cape/Zerker is used in all setups) (Not zerker i, fcape)
  13. Ok, basically answered the question myself also - using Grimy's DPS calc then modifying it. The tipping point seems to be around 320 Def roll - All 3 setups achieve the same DPS or within 1-2k damage per hour. After that it's Void + Defender > Max Str > Void + BGloves Prior to 320 - Void + BGloves > Max Str > Void + Defender Now I just need to find out what range of monsters have a def roll of 300ish >_>
  14. So for steels/miths I should probably be using Max Str instead of Void?
  15. I've always assumed Void is best and never really gave much thought to it. Neitz, Bandos T & B, Ddef, Bgloves Vs Void, Deflector, BGloves Vs Void, Ddef, Vgloves Maybe I need to check in Grimys DPS calc, but if anyone knows off the top of their head...
  16. This may be completely irrelevant and i'm probably wrong, or doing the wrong thing anyway. I currently don't mind the prom2h with the slower attack speed as I feel it allows me to unlock a door/pick an item up, mainly picking things up, be it gold, charms, food etc, without losing any downtime in between attack turns. I'm not sure what a b-axe speed is, you can probably do the same thing with that, albeit this perhaps makes no significant difference, I figure I'd throw that into the debate, i'm probably wrong though lol. If several people or at least 1 person with a b-axe is on the same mob as me, I generally switch 1 attack cycle before the end if it's on [bleep] all health to avoid overkill as well. I'm going to perhaps predict a mixed team of b-axes and prom2h's will be preferable over pure teams of either in the end. Just got that feeling. I would collect data, but I have so many other things to collect for that DG is my data downtime lol/ Gl
  17. Based on some figures xpx gave me, just picking up crim/blues/effigies at crawlers and better control of steel titan can put crawlers at 810+ kph consistant. lol it just keeps getting better. Going to test tonight, I'd like to try CLS but 200k tokens ;/ There may be no requirement to pick up greens and golds,
  18. You could perhaps cannon Black Demons - would be perhaps more suited to your stats. You might get close to 250 crimsons from your 45 minutes - assuming you have 65 or 75 agility, it's about a minute away from taverly. However even with your stats and having access to unicorn, piety & ext/ovls, you should be able to kill over 80 waterfiends in 45minutes. (Well 43 by the time you get there) & obviously saving you a lot of cballs for a similar result.
  19. Unless this method tops 500 kills per hour, which I doubt it will, especially if you want to pick crimsons/ashes up, even telegrabbing. It might be possible to hit 500 kph if you picked nothing up and turreted with range as well, adding 100 kills worth of damage to the cannon. However everytime you telegrab, you use an attack turn. Even if it doubles your Cball useage per hour up to 4000. You'd have to telegrab & bank 200 ashes to cover costs & all the while telegrabbing crimson charms to make the method worth it in the first place. If you don't want to pick anything up other than effigies - you may as well do crawlers as it's possible to get close to, or over 800 kills per hr picking crim/blue & effigies up only. Not saying I wouldn't like this method to work - but due to the intricacies of it basically revolving around you staying out of combat - telegrabbing crims/blues & ashes seems awfully problematic. if you are going to rely on a second person - duo'ing TD's with one player only doing 40% of the damage on one, would be more beneficial - they could keep claws for isntance, you get effigies/blues. This would also put the effigy rate close to 1 an hr if you are able to kill 80 between 2 of you.
  20. You seem to be laboring under the impression that whether a player is high level or not is a matter of luck and not something players can control. NOPE. Please tell me where I say that. High level in some skills can be influenced a lot by luck, I will say that. Getting yourself 99 prayer right now or 99 herblore right now requires a certain amount of luck either getting monster drops or stakes, getting lucky with price rises/changes. It isn't totally luck as a player can grind the pathetically low money making skills, but who would do that right? [/hide] Yes but there is a reason to get 95+ in both skills, there is no reason to get 95+ in smithing, thus not justifying the cost, even if it's currently half the gp/xp it's not an investment, it's a waste. By adding some form of tangible benefit, even if it doubled the cost of smithing, levelling it would be seen as further developing your character, ie making it stronger or as investing in items that improve your character in some form. Not, lololol dat skill cape. The majority of players cannot afford the buyables, because they cannot be bothered. I have both Turmoil & access to Overloads and I have never Boss Hunted, Staked or Merched. If you cannot be bothered to put in the time for character development - Runescape is NOT the game for you, try a different, more casual MMO. Some things take time and effort - deal with it.
  21. Heh, actually made it easier to read for people like me with [cabbage] eyesight, ty jagex - now let us customize public chat colour or put an opaque background in resizeable mode.
  22. The trouble is, I don't think anyone actually had/has a problem with the levelling process of Smithing, be it via Smelting, LRC Superheat or Anvil Smithing. It's the lack of purpose or use for the skill, now I'll hold back judgement to see what the gains/purpose of helping these dwarves are. However if it's just another WAY to level Smithing and gives people no additional purpose nor motivation to shell out 50+ mil on the way to 99, then I guess it will be a giant failure upon listening to what the community wants, rather than some "bright" idea a couple of developers had at the coffee machine. I honestly think Gaddafi has more clue of what his people want/need than Jagex do their customers.
  23. The trouble is with RoW, unless they actually state that it increases by 5-10% or something, the actual gain or boost in drop rate will be purely speculative and require 1000's of sample logs again, ffs lol. Also if it's significant enough to outweigh the increased kill speed of a Fero Ring, good fight Kuradel, inc Duradel for slayer tbh.
