Massive pouch in nature runecrafting
Training runecrafting outside of the runespan is not worth it - let alone using pouches that are effort to get at an altar that is a pita to get to compared to most.

Their biggest error over the years was probably that they did not keep pace with reworking old content. They should've had clear thresholds for graphics and gameplay that when something reached it immediately got on a high priority to do list for rework. That way skills would've been reworked long before they became broken skills with semi-attempted fixes slapped on that in themselves now need a rework. Plus that way they'd of been constantly rewriting older code to slightly newer better functioning code when there wasn't a huge leap to be made, opposed to having like decade old coding messes that you can't just tidy/upgrade easily instead you have to look to entirely rewrite from the ground up. That being said it wouldn't be too late to save the game in that extent. Rejig the teams so its 50:50 or 70:30 focus on rework vs new content. Start big and work your way down the list allowing focus to drift back to new content when the big rework items (skills and minigames) are cleared whilst leaving enough focus for the smaller work to continue - graphical overhauls, tweaks etc (essentially ninja fixes on a slightly larger scale). If they were systematic about it it needn't be an overly chaotic process to deal with since fundamentally the gatherer skills and artisan skills can be near carbon copies of each other. Ie recode mining from the ground up then you can copy and paste that code and swap in trees/fish for ores and cut a solid 70% of the work out of reworking wc and fishing - the remaining 30% being graphics, new top end and any extra mechanics to fix up or to add in.

Runescape isnt running
Sounds to me like a hard drive that is on its last legs - quite a common symptom is incorrectly showing space as used up to the point of causing crashes.

^ Valid point bar Cwars being graphically outdated. It was overhauled in June 2013 and is pretty up to date now.

Worry not, they specified it was a choice between doing inventor or adding what would've been to each skill at the same time as fully reworking the skill. No ambiguity, no we might just slap what would've been inventor onto broken skills. Pure simple black and white binary: Do inventor and slap it onto other skills as they are. Don't do inventor and instead rework skills and add what would've been inventor content to them at the same time.

They have been talking about construction rework quite publicly for 2 or 3 years now. They did a whole segment on it, with concept art at runefest 2013. Skill reworks are the hot topic atm with the debate of is it better to rework skills and bring into each awesome concepts they had for invention OR leave the skills as they are and invest all that time into strapping invention as a stand alone skill on to existing broken skills. The former option seemingly being the most popular choice for players which means with any luck at least 1 of the skill reworks will get underway for 2015.

It's because of how construction is fundamentally coded being really really bad. It's not like there is 1 wall texture and 1 oak larder, for example and the system can't handle that. Each tile of wall is its own object and the oak larder in each rotation within each theme is its own object. Then its not even a copy and paste job because each of these items is shaded for basic lighting based on the theme and rotation as poh don't have dynamic lighting. So the graphically rework con its not as simple as the relatively small number of things we see there is an insane number of variants so it would take insane amounts of time to re-graphic them all. Time which would be better spent by devs rebuilding construction from the ground up whilst graphics do the smaller job of designing 1 copy of each thing that can be used as textures and deal with dynamic lighting.

I doubt we'll get much if anything. They almost never update on the xmas weeks because, like most non-retail or dining companies, they will be running on skeleton staffing. 22nd maybe get something easy like ninja fixes 29th I doubt we'll get an update at all between thurs/fri bank holidays the week before, skeleton staff and thurs bank holiday pending they just won't have something to give. Not to mention the big give away that fridays BTS was all about polls, not a teaser for an upcoming update and they already said next fridays bts is about whats coming next year.

Recent Bot Discussions - A Jagex Response
I'd call 2 or 3 players out of millions of accounts that are only at risk if they happen to be reported and then reviewed by the humans who then make an error in judgement as close to absolutely risk free as any system could ever get that involves the potential for human error. Thats like 1/6666th of a percent at risk (if you assume 2m accounts) and even then they are only at risk when they both get reported enough to be flagged AND the human reviewing the data makes an error in judgement. Besides the "system" is this instance is NOTHING automated of computerised. It is reports from human players triggering a review by human staff at Jagex. Where they then look at a plain log of actions taken on the account. The only "fault" in any "system" here is that the players are so efficient the log data of their action looks near identical to that produced by a bot unless subject to extreme scrutiny.

Avatar: The Legend of Korra
That was not the end I was expecting for Korra, but it was certainly amazing. And Yes Kimberly it was the absolute end. There is only 4 seasons, that it is. Korra is over, no more, finito. It was planned as a 4 book story from day 1 - the best we will ever get is the ambiguous Korra and Mako having a little 'maybe back together moment' coupled with an ambiguous holding Korrassmi holding hands possible departing as lesbian lovers closing scene. I was kinda expecting with the whole balance, spirit energy thing to sort of a have a big surge of reconnection to the past avatars as that seems like a rather loose end to leave. It's sad to think we may never get more Avatar now cause I really do feel like there is story enough to do 2 more rounds with 2 more avatars. Aang told the story of a spiritualist who had to learn to be a hero. Korra the story of a rash go-getter who had to learn moderation, spirituality and balance. I feel like there room for a story about an already matured adult avatar and finding the balance of being a person and having a family etc. with avatar duties, which could make a nice Earth Avatar story. I feel then as a round out it all there is room for a story of an ageing avatar - dealing with how the avatar and the world copes with becoming frailer and possibly even extending beyond his/her death to explore the pause between avatars and the discovery of the next avatar. Would be a sort of poetic ending to see a new air avatar found as the end point of the entire cycle. But that being said I'd rather them not do it if they can't work out a fully formed good plot worth telling.

I like how the whole 'extra rewarding' big presents played out. 20 big presents. 3 glowing crackers. Top value reward - 98 coal. ~130 normal presents. 1 pet, 1 loot beam, 1 scythe.

Recent Bot Discussions - A Jagex Response
I really wonder this as well. It ought to be a streamer, some high-ranked player or someone who is at least a little well known. Also, how can Jagex have bot systems who even have the potential to trap innocent but effective players in the net? That is just terrible design. And I say that as a developer myself. A system without false positives, especially as difficult as botwatch would be nearly impossible. Of course this shouldn't have happened, but we don't know the numbers. We don't know how many bots they banned. If there are only 2-3 false positives within 1.000.000 bans than I think it is a good system. Also it should be noted it was NOT a system that trapped these players. It was a HUMAN reviewing data. Plus they said they have only ever seen 2 or 3 players efficient enough to look like bots to human review AND he only got investigated due to bot reports. It's not like this is some glaring flaw in the system that is hitting hundreds of innocents. It's 1 player who is part of a tiny, single digit, set of players efficient enough for their play data to look bot-like without very very very close scrutiny who only got looked at due to reports of botting and then was banned by human error because the data looks so bot like until it was looked at extremely closely. I'd call that a pretty respectable margin of error.

Problem with Internet browser
Then tear both out, a bad adware thats a self sustaining program will hit all browsers.

Problem with Internet browser
So basically you managed to install some form of adware and screwed yourself over. I'd advise completely uninstalling that browser to make sure all tracks of adware plugins are removed. Then check in programs for anything at that is not a core system program or something you have personally installed and get rid. Then run a spyware and virus scan of your system. Then get a fresh install of browser and start again. After this it'd also be advisable to change every password to every service you use as intrusive adware is quite likely to have keylogged you and stolen lots of passwords or just straight up hoovered up data from your system.

That's already on the ninja list :) Everything random is fun and games until someone makes a dice game. </sarcasm> Unless of course you take it in the context of how home teleport, skilling etc animations are already 'random' aka it cycles through them in a set order

Transformers Universe To Shutdown In January
Seems rather out of the blue imo. The beta, though it had its faults, had reasonable game play and a decent amount of players. With a bit more time polishing and a renewed marketing push as it left beta I could've seen it fairing well overall. I wonder whether this is a case of Hasbro pulling the plug instead of Jagex failing? I also wonder how long they knew about this before posting it, what with the known redundancies/reshuffles hitting the TU team.

Was it necessary to make all items look alike?
Meh theres still enough difference in them for my liking. Sure if you don't know what they look like you could muddle them, but side by side you can tell they aren't the same. Besides you can always read the item name before adding it to your log if you struggle that much. From a design perspective the similarities make sense - A woodcutting axe and a fighting axe are very similar items with slight nuances to tailor them to their designated purpose. Same applies for swords really seeing as they are basically the same thing in different sizes.

A mechanic that will obviously cause issues among players due to dislike for valid reasons is a flawed mechanic. Snowverloads rotation of times was in no way that fair on time zones: 9am, 11pm, 1pm, 3am, 5pm, 7am, 9pm, 11am, 1am, 3pm, 5am, 7pm Depending on when you work etc its entirely possible to miss every single one of those 14 hour time slots and just because its 'fun' content does not make it ok for it to be fundamentally un-playable just because of when you sleep/work. For example with my life in GMT Weds - 9am or 11pm At work and going to sleep. Thurs - 1pm at work Fri 3am or 5pm - asleep and driving home from work. Sat 7am or 9pm - asleep and having a social life Sun 11am - Assisting in making sunday dinner. Mon - 1am or 3pm - asleep and at work Tues - 5am or 7pm - asleep and making/having dinner. Oh great I have a whole 3 chances a week to attend - all I have to do is forgo having a social life, be an ass by not helping make sunday dinner or sit around being hungry instead of making my dinner. Now I can enjoy all the festive fun while being a hungry, lazy hermit instead of a well adjusted normal person. Tinsel snakes were never fine because it is stupid to expect players to swarm in their hundreds on a pathetically small number of spawns only to have everything stolen. Sure in a small minigame that has maybe 20 players it'd be ok, but in a free for all event its just asking for trolls and making players do work for nothing in return, which ruins the spirit of a fun event. Having a snow effect override in anything other than the effect override slot is just plain dumb. Sure it may appear out of your back but its an effect, not a cape. And after players campaigned for so long to get wings in to a separate category to have wings and capes it does not take a rocket scientist to figure players will want to have their cape on with the snow effect and that an effect category already exists that perfectly fits a snow emitting effecting. It's not something that should need to be fixed in the first place: effect category + snow effect = common sense.

Is it safe to remove my bank pin entirely?
If you 'don't really care' what we have to say on the matter, why bother posting in the help and advice forum asking for our views on removing it? I mean you seem pretty certain you want to remove it and its in your way and don't think you'll ever get hacked so great go remove it if thats how you feel. But why bother asking for our advice if your just gonna ignore it all and already have made your mind up?

I didn't say that it was a bad thing that they were fixing it. I said I wondered what was going to be broken, since the xmas event as a whole doesn't have a great track record or not having glaring flaws that have to be amended post launch. But really, taking feedback or not, it is a bad thing that the content was launched as it was for many of these issues. 14 hourly spawns was obviously dumb when you math out the times as it gave very little margin for timezones etc. The cracker thing was bound to have issues when it takes so long to reach 100% then can be so instantly pulled leaving very little margin for people to actually attend outside of sheer dumb luck. The tinsel snake stealing thing was obviously stupid - they know how busy holiday events get and how many trolls exist in-game. The snow stormer being a cape override was a bit dumb when they specifically have an 'effect' category and it is clearly a snow effect and not a cape. About the only post-launch change that doesn't fall in to the category of game design choices that are obviously flawed is the loot beam design. It's good they are fixing it, but these faults should never have made it past the initial concept or play testing because they are so obviously not good mechanics for RS.

When I was watching that video about the snowboarding thingy my overriding thought was: so what will be broken? After all this Xmas event doesn't have a good track record of not being nerfed/fixed post-launch. Present Delivery? Snow stormer being reworked and made an effect override. Cracker? Having to give out emote post-event for everyone who gave in paper due to being so impossible to reliably attend pulling. Tinsel Snakes? Stealing removed. All manner of issues with no spawns invisible madness. Snowball presents? Festive loot beam being redesigned entirely. Snowverload? Spawn rate made like 4* higher because, in a shocking twist, once per 14 hours wasn't accessible.

Is it safe to remove my bank pin entirely?
The way I view it is that it may be unlikely you'll get hacked but which situation do you prefer: 1) Spending a few seconds per session to punch in a pin code and if you ever do get hacked all your stuff is nice and safe. 2) Instant access to money pouch, bank account etc. etc. and if you ever do get hacked you lose everything. Every last item and coin in every storage gone. To me situation 1 is far better. It's kinda like home/car/contents/health/whatever insurance irl - you get it but live in the hope you never need it and with any luck it won't ever be used. but its far better to spend that small amount and have the just in case than it is to have 0 safety net if the bad thing does happen.
