  1. Was the shores near you quote in the video not referencing next weeks video, not MPD so it's not making a link really.
  2. Seems like it, but hardly a surprise they normally give us 1 off-week a month and with 3 weeks left 1 major update and 2 smaller updates it had to be one of them!
  3. I spose they culda meant that afterall Mod Marks bts video that had less details than the bts article itself was very insightful. Right on target really for Jagex's idea of being more in-depth.
  4. I think it's the 'we have only told you about the first 3rd' thing they keep harking on about. In these 'more in-depth' aka look we showed you some random shiny images they can't show anything at all from the later 2/3 without spoilering where as in podcasts they can just say he features without spoilering. So it's pretty much a case of Sliske is in the later parts of the quest and therefore can't be visually shown in these things. Bit ridiculous really since they already told us he's in it, but oh well thats jagex.
  5. Why desperation? Half the aim of a company is gain customers, the other half is to keep customers they have. If you have a building buffer of players who have 'finished' the game it's just good business sense to look at ways that can keep them engaged and retain them as a customer. Such as making the entire thing replayable for competition giving them a lot more they can potentially do. I mean sure getting new customers is important, but does it really do the company any good to pump in 2000 new customers a day if 2000+ customers are leaving at the top end of the game everyday. It just creates a status quo or decrease, where as if you can maintain existing customers and then bring in new ones you go from status quo to growth. Equally I don't see it as trying to sell bonds or spins or w/e to these players more so than before, I mean we had that option anyway on the road to maxed at some point or other for every single player.
  6. To my mind: The core problem with PvP: The Pvpers. The fix: None really. Thinking more in wildy terms than minigames. Pvpers say they want exciting engaging pvp needing tactics with great rewards - Pvpers moan about abilities and the combat triangle making things too risky and refuse to go out in more than cheap and cheerful welfare gear. They seem to just want a golden goose that doesn't exist: PvP combat that is exciting and engaging that requires tactics yet allows them to ignore the combat triangle and overcome all abilities with ease. Whilst at the same time it needs to give massive payouts but with them only making a minimal risk. In terms of pvp minigames I think the solution lies in two simple fixes: 1) As the games get busier use instancing etc. to make divides of players based on gear stats as well as levels. This makes it more enjoyable for lower levels and those with lesser gear as they aren't just going to be koed by someone in torva all the time. This system needs to be adaptive so that the groupings can change based on how busy it is at the game 2) Give games decent rewards in metagame terms. This means the games NEED to give SOMETHING that is worth the time invested to get it, this doesn't mean it needs to best xp rates or w/e of external training but it ought to offer something comparable. Some examples of this would be: Ba is far to complex and long winded for lvl 40 hybrid armour, equally so for the bonus xp it gives as you can earn more xp in less time just training. Castlewars like what does this actually pay out? Oh yay I have some bad armour that is kinda useful in the game but useless elsewhere? SCORE. Answers to this could be various level-my-x based gear that can be a little better than normal bought gear but costs the time investment opposed to gp investment. Admittedly I have little other ideas for such rewards and they are by no means easy to come up with, but for minigames to get foot traffic they need to be something that fits in to the metagame. This is kinda an issue at large with the game rather than simply making 'fun' things or 'alternatives' that do not compete things need to balanced so that at any given level they are all in the ballpark of equal making them all viable semi-metagame choices so people could pursue a simpler expensive route or do something more fun and not feel like they are failing or falling behind.
  7. I can't help but feel mildly disappointed by this BTS, did they not have a whole spiel about overhauling it to be more in-depth and more informative than before the other week? I mean sure we saw a couple of bits of nice eye candy and a couple of words on rewards, but the rest is all kinda meh knew it already and in more detail really from other sources. On the positive side Barrows Brothers skip tokens sound intriguing as a high lvl reward thought I really wonder of the necessity of them, surely they'd be of more use for lower levels to make the content a bit more accessible if perhaps your gear is not ideal. Unless of course part of the 'big twist' is that deluxe barrows is coming in the rewards (which is plausible if barrows is involved anyway and Sliske is in the quest) and the tokens will allow us to skip a brother there as well.
  8. Except this will probably make it harder for actual low/mid levels to get the supplies they need to train. I'd see it as the exact opposite, several low end resources can be harder to come by because people simply are not gathering them. With this update suddenly those items can gain in value and have lots more people in there gathering them again and not just high lvls prestiging, but low levels who see a new low end accessible money maker, which could help to increase availability. Sure it may put prices up a bit, but it ought to open up more low end ways to make money and is a low price really better if it's only low because of lack of supply and demand? On a slight tangent I could see this being some what instrumental in helping get new players in too, in theory anyway. One of the largest flaws of early game is there's just no-one around these areas and even if there are it's often the blind leading the blind. By sending high levels back there you make the areas busier again, thus appearing more appealing to new players and open up the chance for them to get some guidance from an experienced user.
  9. Where? Nowhere. This is not money sink. " You can only make this switch while you’re in a bank, and we’re considering adding a gold cost to it to make it clear that you’re not supposed to be flipping it willy-nilly." Moneysink potential. Especially when you consider if they keep a good stream of updates and people have a good social group for pvm or w/e but equally want to compete in the hiscores they are going to have solid reasons to keep flipping stats back and forth.
  10. Clutching at straws would require throwing out baseless theories, all that's been suggested has relations to what is actually there and what we know in lore - it's called speculation and it is a fundamental tool used throughout the known lore to fill in blanks with theoretical possibilities until Jagex fills them out for real. As for the Western edge: to be expected its one of the unfinished edges of the world map that they just arbitrarily made in to coast for a more seamless world experience compared to the old style of walking up to an abyssal edge of blackness.
  11. I suppose the logical answer may be that existing xp beyond 99 will count to initial prestige, but after this update is live only xp gained with it turned on will count.
  12. What I'm not 100% clear on: So when prestiging it still adds to your 'normal' xp until that hits 200m Does this mean xp already gotten past 99 (or gotten past 99 after this update) outside prestige mode will automatically add to our prestige level when we turn it on? The blurb about how the hiscores look kinda implies it would.
  13. Random thought: Could this not be totally abused for dg? Turn on all the prestiges > start floor > turn them off > enjoy floor designed for lvl 1 skills with maxed stats. I know not a major abuse, but could aid people in some situations.
  14. Good luck 'wrecking' pvp in a game where pvp barely exists and pures are next to useless.
  15. Because there is absolutely only 1 finite way to make a diamond shape using Prifddinas as one of the points, therefore meaning there can be no meaning at all in the arrangement choices when drawing a god symbol for one of the 8 major god factions in the sixth age when we are seeing the gods actively return and Jagex are actively putting lore into as much content as possible... I mean it's not like they already hid meaning in the crystal trees...other than being perfectly arranged to form the symbol of their associated god and being perfectly numbered to include 1 tree per elf clan. Plus it even so goes deep as the 94 wc req is meant to be the sum Prifddinas when using a = 1 etc. but Mod Nexus, despite checking several times ultimately succumbed to the numerous incorrect spellings loitering various wikis and got the math wrong as the correct spelling comes to 100. For all we know this very diamond could mark out the bounds of the second world event that is 'taking place of a much larger area' and it could be the surfacing of the fragments of Seren we have to try and gather or destroy. The way Jagex loves their curve balls it could be any multitude of meanings and you know that it hasn't just been placed by pure happenstance and there has been some planning put in to it.
  16. There is no area with more than 1 tree. There are only 10 trees in the entire game. Falador Ivy South of Yanille Lleyta Magic Trees North of Legends Guild (Beside Seers Div spot) North of Eagles Peak South of Draynor South west of Grand Tree South of Varrock South of Edgeville South of Melzar's Maze
  17. I'll only look at prestiging once I am 100% maxed and even then it depends what the rewards are since I dont care for ranks.
  18. Why bother marking a sarky post with a picture of a crystal bow to a post whose wording and line of thought was clearly talking about there being an actual arrow item?
  19. Uh... about that... Your point being? Crystal bow never had matching arrows as it self-supplies the ammo. Prior to this weeks update there were no T70 arrows. I was not remotely saying there was no arrow weapon, I was saying there was no actual physical arrows to be had as items. Just like there is no T80 arrow item to get with the Zaryte bow.
  20. I did kinda cover that in the original post from which this branch of debate stemmed. The necessity of actual t90 arrows themselves is questionable though. I mean T70* and T80 function perfectly well without actual arrows through ammo-providing bows. *I am aware T70 got arrows due to dark bow now, but it lacked them for many years and worked just fine.
  21. His exact words about the centre point were: "Where the centre of the shape outlined by the trees currently is, is pure coincidence, for now at least." Kinda suggests that whilst purely coincidental in the design, the fact it does land there is just so oddly relevant that it has been noted and is liable to be made important latter. The framing of the shape intrigues me as it could be indicative of Seren's on-going thoughts in some ways. Notice the Elf camp of the 'evil' elves is outside of the diamond, but so is Lleyta, but arguable their desire to fight is rather anti-Seren now we know she is a pacifist. Aprosanda is also outside whilst the 'good' gnomes who are friends to the elves are pretty much entirely inside. The lands where Baxtorian and Glarial's tombs and kingdom were is inside the diamond as is Guthix resting place. Entrana being in there does feel a bit odd, but as a whole the area certainly seems to have some significance in terms of Seren's friends and what not vs bad people. I could imagine it being something like the area in which her power is residing and perhaps the deconstruction of Prifnddas removed the crystal tree which is hindering her ability to reform as the ritual space as it were cannot be completed and a important part of her power is left in the seed that grows the city and the 8th tree. Also seems a bit indicative of Seren perhaps being ousted from her lands because the elves are lost and/or corrupted
  22. If you take the centre of the diamond using it would appear to land on the Meeting History farm. I get the feeling this is going to be something important when it comes to Seren's return, possible tie in of us some how being recognised via the scouts and therefore that location being chosen as a place the soon-to-be world guardian might find.
  23. Ah my bad on clan numbers, could still work though if we assume a hypothetical 8th tree inside Priffndas. Also on the lore front mod mark mentioned hidden messages in the bts vid and it has since been confirmed by jmods one of those hidden messages is lore related. Not to mention the fact of late jagex has been very deliberately infusing everything with lore where possible rather than just dumping random things in.
  24. In my experience so far I've found monsters in the first 2 or 3 rooms in any given route from the start room usually drop some food, but beyond that have seen very little in the way of food drops other than a rare random low fish here and there in drop piles.
  25. I've been thinking about the crystal trees and wondering about lore related ties in to do with the history of the elves and Seren. I mean we know there are 7 major elf clans and that prior to their retreat they did venture into the eastern regions of the continent more. Edgeville ruins had some references to elves previously Baxtorian region was know to have elf ties. Elf scouts have been seen around Ardougne region in Meeting History. Then consider the 7 trees locations, I wonder if they tie in to the 'hubs' as it were of the 7 clans at some point before they made Priffndas The Observatory one is quite close to the cave route to Lleyta we discovered in Prisoner of Glouphrie so could easily be part of the general elf area in years bygone. By the same notion Yanille is not too far away either. Then the Grand Tree and Light House trees surround the Baxtorian Falls area quite nicely. Ardougne makes an obvious sailing point to reach Brimhaven, hence the port, which would also give a solid reason for elves to be traversing where the farm from Meeting History is placed - heading from the Baxtorian regions towards the port. Then Seers is a bit of an outlayer, perhaps a more adventurous clan who were on the heels of those at Falador/Edgeville region Very waffly and speculative but essentially I wonder if the crystal trees (and maybe the elders too) have links to elven history in Gielinor and in some way mark places of import to the 7 major elf clans we are aware of. Though what strikes me as particularly curious with the crystal trees is since they quite clearly must relate to Seren, if not the elves as well, in some way why exactly are none of them in the elf lands where Seren was shut away with her people before she did the whole shattering thing at the end of the god wars?
