11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
True but on the flip side of matters the fact you cannot repair the armour drives away a fair portion of potential demand lowering the value of the armour itself. Repair kits would no doubt end up quite cheap due to higher volumes hitting the market, but the increased demand for repairable armour combined with a lowered supply through focus on repair kits ought to help nudge values back up a little bit or atleast hold them steady at a decent value.

Why is 2006 seen by many to be the best year for RS?
They don't, that one is a curveball for sure.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
Can't say I've encountered any issue in regards to attack style and monsters having drops, only a consistent hard mode factor that half the mobs don't drop anything which I assumed to be part of making it hard through scarcer resources.

I know much of the dragon stuff is duplicate on weakness, but never the less it does 'complete' the tier as far as jagex is concerned with all the metals offering the same items. Equally I am aware the reqs to get it vs use it are entirely stupid, but the same can be said of many dragon items and of course in terms of actual usability it is stupid and useless but from the Jagex completeness viewpoint it does fill things out. I guess I derped on the staff a bit, I thought there wasn't any t60 staves but meh I'm not expert on where all the weapons landed in magic now.

11-Dec-2012 - Player-Owned Ports
There is a good subset of players who can't make the armour, I'm by no means saying it'll ever reach nex type values; but repairability on the buyable version would help to sustain semi-decent value for the armour opposed to letting ports slowly descended in to dead content due to next to no profitability.

Future Update Discussions
We've discussed other such things in this thread before. Does it really matter if we go slightly off topic in a period when we have no actual teasers from Jagex to discuss? At least it's still runescape related and whilst not strictly an update teaser it is a teaser of sorts as it is something we would very much like. Plus rather than derailing the thread with debate of whether or not it should be here we can simply move on and let it naturally fade into the abyss of this thread as friday brings us as new video to salivate over.

Looking for solution to undelete files from Windows hard drive?
Even if a tool does offer in-place recovery using it poses risks and is better to use a 2nd storage device if possible. Recovery relies on the fact when you delete a file the data is not actually removed, only the link that tells the computer the relationship between the various pieces of data in the file and that the data space is occupied. The actual data remains until a new file overwrites it at some point down the line. The danger with an in-place recovery is a temporary file could easily overwrite part of the data during the recovering process.

Jagex could make Tetsu, Seasinger, Death Lotus and Scrimshaws hold so much better value if they weren't so stubborn. Step 1: Make the tradable ones NOT degrade to dust Step 2: Make it so that ports users can, for similar levels and smaller resource amounts (and/or using the normal port goods like steel) make repair kits. Step 3: Make repairs/recharges require say 1 repair kit per 10% of charge. Boom! The base items are much more appealing to buy to combat mad skill noobs making the prices go up a bit AND repair kits give us a more consistent income from ports without spending weeks/months for each big make.

Why is 2006 seen by many to be the best year for RS?
I never said it was ideal, but it is an undeniable eventuality with the current system and all told at their current pace it doesn't seem that far off really. I mean in the past 12 months we have gained T90 dual wield weapons across all 3 classes, with only thrown and arrow missing. Plus we have T85 tank armour and 1 set of T90 power armour, with a 2nd enroute. Plus we are due a ports upgrade that has every chance of filling out more T90/85 armourment and Mod Mark has mentioned they do have plans for the T90 2h weapons. Not to mention T70 and T60 arrow tier was recently completed, alongside a good chunk more of T60 being filled out in general by BotD (most crucially to magic) Plus of course the QBD, KK and Vorago with Barrows deluxe on the horizon too. As far as progression to maxed out combat gear in the game goes the current rate would suggest we may get there in a mere year or 2. At this rate I'd expect the end of 2014 to of: 1) Completed T90 power armour tier 2) Possibly begun T90 tank tier 3) Filled out the remaining gaps in ranged (T60-T80 thrown and T80 shieldbow) 4) Seen at least some of the 2H T90 weapons (and the other ranged items) appear.

^Really they all seem pretty clear to me since they all have quite clear icons and use the exact existing colour schemes, with the exception of dg and div which are inverted. Blue cape, white trim with a shield. Greyish brown with a golden trim and an anvil. Orange and black with a seeker-style eye and a primal helm on shoulder. Teal with purpley trim and glowing orbs on shoulder. Brown with green trim and trees sprouting from shoulder. White with pale blue and a quest icon mid back. Green and red with large metal fists. White and brownish gold with buildings. Black and red with a skull icon and dragon-ish skulls on shoulders. Orange and yellow with flames. Red and yellow with swords.

Low Level Mage armour recomendations
Pro-tip 9/10 monsters weakness will guide you to the armour that's strong against it as most use the combat triangle. Eg Greater Demons are weak to bolts (ranged) because they use magic. Ranged trumps magic so ranged armour offers best def. Something weak to magic will usually be using melee, so mage armour is best. Something weak to melee will usually be using ranged, so melee armour is best.

If they are in the recycle bin you can just restore them, if they have been erased from there they may not be recoverable. The best bet would be to try something like Recuva, if it can't find them or restore them in a useable form then there's not much you can do. http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Treevolution - High-Level Trees
The fact crystal bow is lvl 70 means dark bow has lvl 70 makes perfect sense. Each tier of arrow weapons has a shortbow (aka 2h tier dmg) and a shieldbow (aka 1h tier dmg with added def and shield abilities) Prior to this T60 has a shieldbow and nothing else, T70 had a shortbow and nothing else. This change killed two birds with 1 stone. It created a complete T60 arrow pair and by hoisting dark bow up completed the T70 arrow pair. The only remaining loophole in the existing arrow setups now is the lack of a t80 shieldbow.

Treevolution - High-Level Trees
So I did some research in to the directions crystal trees lean to indicate the active tree, it seems Brimhaven and Seers are the best two to head for to find a tree as both give 5 different directions for the 6 other trees, plus are very near teleports Grand Tree and Observatory lag behind with 4 directions and not so close to teles. Yanille, Falador and Lighthouse bring up the rear each giving only 2 directions and being increasingly far from teleports. Brimhaven - Right by Brimhaven houseport, 5 directions. Seers - Moderately close to Seers lode or Cammy tele, 5 directions. Grand Tree - Moderately close to spirit tree, 4 directions. Observatory - Moderately close to cwars, 4 directions. Yanille - Moderately close to lodestone, 2 directions. Falador - Fair distance from lodestones and direct teleport, 2 directions. Lighthouse - Long run from any teleport, 2 directions.

Why is 2006 seen by many to be the best year for RS?
I don't quite agree. PVP was never the endgame or the core of the game for most people. It was at one time something a lot of people did, but it was never a majority. Skillers/Questers/Boss hunters were always here and outnumbered the Pkers. Pkers were regarded as obnoxious and immature brats who would do things like griefing or shouting obscenities at you while they fought you. There was always a touch of antagonism there; and that is probably why when the Wildy was finally removed in 07 (as a PVP thing, anyways), the exodus of Pkers did not seem to garner much sympathy from other communities. I would also dispute your narrative about rushing/pjing; they seem to be have always been around. I enjoyed Castle Wars and Fight Pits, as did many others, but it was a fun distraction, never a core part of the game. A lot of people don't like PVPing and never really have. And it is also not true that PVPing was the best money. Boss hunting (barrows), for most of RS, or Slayer back in 2005, gave it a reasonable run for its money. As for bosses, the thing is, they usually are very challenging, despite their farming -- the problem is that Jagex often releases new super gear that makes them very easy to camp and that is when they become farmable and prices actually go down. It is quite possible to have challenging and profitable bosses. And RS has historically had those, it is just that sooner or later the balance tilts. The boss thing, in some ways, is a self fixing problem once we reach the game's limits: Once we have lvl 99 gear across the board and simply cannot become more powerful bosses can be feasibly designed for that tier that can't easily become under-powered. Of course there's also the notion, which may be a wise move, of putting in some sort of scaling combat of level to fight on bosses so that lower bosses either can't be killed for drops by those too high OR can't be farmed easily due to scaling. The trouble here also comes, however, from said boss drops being a vital source of mid-range gear that ought to hold a certain degree of affordability.

Treevolution - High-Level Trees
The bit that confused me with the xp thing: Why is the Sous Chef outfit part of the 1 time bonus xp hidden away and not the wearable for 1% per piece with 5% for full outfit. Also they left the summ outfit off entirely. Still nice change though, I now have more bonus xp in agile than xp to 99 (and no way to use it really cause fpf) and 33k of bonus div xp from all teh gems I had banked.

Artisans Workshop
As I recall you can get through ~1k ingots an hour. Addy ingot I costs 3.7k to make at ge value, that's 3.7m an hour II is 10.5k aka 10.5m, III is 14.5k aka 14.5m Unless you are earning real insane gp:hr Addy ingot I is the best, especially since the xp rises at a much lesser rate than the cost for higher ingots. Addy Ingot I (at the best rate w/o scared hammer) is 319xp II is 523xp and III is 653xp. So thats in 1 hour training: ~319k xp for 3.7m ~523k xp for 10.5m ~653k for 14.5m So all told for a 3 hour window: Ingot III - 1 hour training ~653k xp, 2 hour money making time to get 14.5m (7.25m an hour) Ingot II - 1.25 hour training ~653k xp, 1.75 hour money making time to get 10.5m (6m an hour) Ingot I - 2 hours training ~653k xp, 1 hour money making time to get 3.7m (3.7m an hour)

Addy I is the best. The cost:xp ratio on higher ingots is much worse.

Agents of SHIELD
I always find it annoying how networks do that, I mean they full well know how their business works and that most shows settle in to their true value mid-late season 1 and early season 2 - yet they gladly yank shows so early on when they have perfectly respectable viewing figures. I hope AoS is a bit safer as bigger budget items tend to be given more breathing space as it is harder to justify writing the cost off. Eg the recent Dinosaur time travel one (title is escaping me) that had Spileberg n hat not on board got a whole season, Once Upon a Time seemed to get a bit more breather space too and felt like a late bloomer in terms of audience but with the cgi, costumes locations etc and larger cast was obviously bigger budget than something like Partners which only had basic sets and 4 main cast. I still kinda hold out hope for a TV movie to finish off Heroes properly ='[

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
I shouldn't complain really my pre-hard mode mostly solo record of the drops ppl like is a bit cray cray (and this is all since 99) Primal hatchet Primal Pick Primal legs x3 Primal chain x2 (not ideal but meh still decent-ish) Celestial catalytic staff x 4 Celestial robe top x 3 Robe bottom x 3 Sagi chaps x 1 Sagi body x 2 Sagi short x 3 Plus a whole stack of like kites and knives and warhammers and blah blah blah that I didn't bother registering to memory.

Daemonheim Task Set- 10/9/13
Hard mode is totally trolling me, been working through frozens on solo bit by bit since finally clearing the ring req on tasks. Had like 20 Edimmu's with no BN so far, I know it's still a reasonably rare drop, but seeing like 5 Edimmu's in 1 frozen floor and 4/5 of them dropping nothing is a bit -.- GRKJEGBJEJKSNJDS inducing.

Birthright of the Dwarves- 2nd October 2013
I think the 26 quest of 05 were all meh old style click around for no real reason. To me by and large newer quests have been much better, even this quest isn't a bad quest in itself it just is not worthy of ending the series or being a grandmaster. I much prefer their current system whereby we usually get ~12 quests a year, yes this year has been a bit quest light but they have referenced that several times and readily acknowledge it alongside the promise of 'business as usual' as it were in the post-rs3 times, which excluding delays they have been keeping with DoC for August, BotD for Sept, Mpd for Oct and we have been told there are quests on the cards for nov and dec. I also think its unfair to try and make out we've been getting 'corridor' type quests and nothing else. Yes DoC, Botd and TWW fit this model, but there have been others like Bringing Home the Bacon and The Ariane quests that have had more room to manoeuver, plus with most of these quests being low-end quests it not too surprising they are tightly controlled. I'll admit that we have perhaps had too many 'corridor' quests of late, but I don't think that's all we've been getting.

Why is 2006 seen by many to be the best year for RS?
It's pure nostalgia for most, as proven to a great extent by OSRS. People wanted it back so badly because it was soo much better apparently, yet when they got it back they found it boring and quickly quit. Nostalgia of what we had when we were younger and what used to be always makes things seem so amazing and blots out the negatives, but unfortunately we can never recapture that. Even with a time machine to literally step back to that time you'd find yourself disillusioned by the rough edges your memory had smooth off and by being older and having a different outlook. Of course some genuinely consider it a peak and dislike what has happened since, but for most it's nostalgia fuelled in my opinion that or a slight bitterness at their achievements being devalued by later updates, but that is the nature of an mmo - things get easier in time.

Birthright of the Dwarves- 2nd October 2013
Purely a matter of skill requirements and not quest length/depth, according to Mod Mark. And yet TWW was tagged Grand Master despite being a deep quest with next to no requirements. Afterall, all you strictly require is 140 combat and that boils down to 69 Defence and 69 in Att/Str/Ranged/Mage/Summ.
