  1. I really hope you're joking. That would be the case if you have an equal chance of landing on each reward (which you don't) and furthermore the animation at the bottom actually has no bearing on your final reward anyway, aside from it displaying your possible rewards. Your final reward might aswell be determined before you even hit the button :P It's obvious they can't be right. 23.07% for rare rewards would mean roughly 1 in 4 prizes received ought to be a rare. Meaning 1 in every 2 members each day. Jagex has been tweeting and announcing the big wins and so far there's only been mention of a handful; like that 1 AGS and that swagger stick. About 14 spins done per active member so far, assuming at least 100k play in the course of 24 hours that's 1,400,000 spins at least. I think its safe to say we would of noticed a lot more info if 350,000 rolls had come out with rare wins. Judging by rewards I've seen mentioned so far I'd say its more like 80% for the common white stuff 15% for the midway yellow stuff, 4% for rares and 1% for the jackpot slot. I'd argue the yellow stuff has a much higher chance, the white is only slightly above yellow, and rare is far below 4% from what I've heard. (Note that lucky AGS can be a rare item, not super rare.) Super rare is far below 1%, too. Using your own 1,400,000 spins, you'd expect 56000 rares and 14000 super rares in the game by now. If i had to make an educated guess I'd go with something like: White = 60% Yellow = 39.94% Rare = 0.05% Super rare = 0.01% This leaves 70 rares and 14 super rares, which sounds about right from the number we've seen.
  2. Citation needed. Those reds are WAY too high a %. I've personally spun 36 times over a number of accounts and not once had a red. And the rest of the forum seems to have similar luck.
  3. I use about 1k including jad. Thats with 94 mage, arcane stream, overloads, ganodermic, max mage attack gear everything else. Even at 85 mage with relatively nooby gear, you won't use over 2k charges.
  4. This game is hilarious with mods. Theres a decoupler that allows you to place 4 engines below it. So you can do 1, 4, 16, 64... Until you have a short fat rocket that accelerates at the speed of light :P It isn't practical for mun landings but it's hilarious to launch and always unpredictable. Also: Jedediah has nerves of STEEL. Watch his face next time you're doing something life endangering, he loves it!
  5. Well yes. My entire point was about the students getting the SAME score, where the only changed variable is speed, making the faster one the best from all viewpoints. You complicate it by adding other variables and it leads to an impossible question, or one that demands more information at the very least. Scoring 50% in a mathematics test is pretty awful, taking over 50% of the world is pretty impressive. The fact that a student could coincidentally remember exactly what the test needs and nothing else is my exact issue with IQ tests, they need to be more varied and longer to give more accurate results uncorrupted by luck.
  6. If it did the rarity and impossibility to obtain through skill/money would make it a much bigger issue. Imagine you're bossing then some guy comes in whacking 700s at the speed of a rapier, stealing every kill. Or worse, pking. Thankfully this isn't the case, though. :)
  7. It is against the rules and is actually one of the few things jagex consistently do mute for. (Unlike the total ignorance of bot reports in the past) Over 50% of runescape botted at one point. That's still against the rules.
  8. why are you so sure it's a universally negative trait? in school and everything speed is valued and mistakes are okay and encouraged - but in many parts of the real world it is important to get things right the first time, and that takes contemplation and people who don't jump to conclusions too fast. The point of my argument was that both of the students got the same score with the same mistakes. One did it fast and one did it slow. The faster one is better than the slower one. You're making the mistake of thinking theres a balance. Some people are just faster and more accurate than other people. Their average well calculated speed is someone else's fast and reckless speed.
  9. The only thing an IQ score proves is how well you can complete an IQ test. Which brings you onto the question: How DO you test intelligence? What even is the ideal for intelligence to set as the goal? Knowledge and wisdom mixed in with practicality and speed, right? Well then you just have an IQ test, too specific to be practical, the alternative of testing them on everything ever is also impractical. The thing I've always hated is how most tests are not scored on speed. You said something about a child being obsessive compulsive and thus taking longer to answer questions. This is a negative trait and would hinder the output of his knowledge/wisdom and effect his intelligence.
  10. I totally agree with the... *sigh*... "jagex apologist". You people cry about every single change. This month has been GREAT for runescape. Potion flasks! TzHaar quest! Fight kilns! Dominion tower boss! Still keeping the bots at bay! (Mostly) Movable objects in the GUI! Mediocre mostly harmless wheel of fortune! If you're not happy with the way the updates are going now, you're gonna have a pretty disappointing future ahead of you. Although in all seriousness, the new bolts next month look like a great addition to the now comparatively weak ranged skill. Can't wait to see your complaints about those. :)
  11. Jagex =/= logic for the most part :P Such as the stats of this: [item=9904] Swords obviously can't slash either :P Swords with extremely dull edges can't. (Although a slashing motion would obviously deal crush damage, so it's dumb they even gave the slash option.) As for the katana, i refuse to believe it's that powerful. Godsword stats and speed is plausible but being more powerful than a rapier isn't.
  12. Oh man. Just took my 8 spins today and i didn't get a single decent item. (One small lamp. The rest was garbage.)
  13. Unless they applied some special circumstances to these items (highly doubt it), you will always have the item and will be able to use it as soon as you get members. It won't ever disappear. For example, if you are a member and have loads of members items and then fall back to F2P, your members items will never disappear. They will always be available in your bank. You just can't use them until you get members. I think they might have meant items won in the lottery which are members only. Yeah I know :P Although I did misunderstand the situation slightly. For some reason I thought you could claim members items you won, just not use them. But it looks like you can't even claim them until you get members? I didn't totally realize that and thought he meant he would claim a members item but wondered if it would disappear if he didn't get members. You have to subscribe to claim the item. (Huuuge dick move with obvious intentions of forcing subscriptions.) but if you do not claim it, it will be there the next day... BUT you can't take your next spins until you claim or discard it. So get stuck with one decent members item and you can't spin again unless you get members to claim it, or throw it away. (Would personally frustrate me with something like claws. Sure they're good, but i dunno if i wanna subscribe to get them, ely on the other hand is definitely gonna make me sub.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if it was that much, it does take the same incredibly rare place than an Ely or 10m coins usually takes. I saw a 'Player x has gotten lucky zamorakian spear from the spin!' message earlier. So if you stick on world 2 near the reset you'll probably get a good idea how common the rares are by the message spam.
  15. Medium in level 1 skill gave me 125 experience. Sorry, didn't get a picture. (It was a totally fresh account created to test the members trial)
  16. If anyone gets a lucky item try taking it into the wildy. I'm curious if it lets you. I can just imagine having a risk fight and not getting anything as they had a 'lucky ags'
  17. I'm curious what options there are for afking, even if it's only for a minute or two at a time. Experiments worked well at a low level as they took so long to kill i didn't haven't to pay much attention. But they die too quickly now. Using prayer restoration pots and protect melee seems to work, but i can't decide a good place to use it. Spiders? Bandits? Stats are 60 attack 57 strength, if that helps.
  18. It's totally a way to get new members. I got a slayer xp lamp on one of my f2p accounts and you literally can't claim it unless you subscribe. You subscribe or discard it. No biggie right? Imagine getting a divine. You better believe you're subscribing for that sucker. (Or discarding, learning what a divine is, and crying yourself to sleep.)
  19. You can't trade items over 100k? I saw a divine and an AGS... So if i got those on my pure, i couldn't sell them or pk with them (I'm assuming. If i CAN pk with them, and the enemy gets nothing, that's worse.) Seems like a really stupid system. If you don't want people to win huge prizes, don't give them huge prizes. And as the fray says, it won't stop the economy from suffering. If people start getting free divines they're going to sell their current one, or not buy one that they eventually would.
  20. Medium lamps seem to be 12.5 times skill level, by the way. EDIT: 125 times the skill level! Not 12.5!
  21. I had a chance to win an ely :o I doubt the chance is high at all, but i wanna see people with screenshots of them getting epic prizes, stat! (I got less than 11k in 2 spins. >.>)
  22. For the one hit, it's more accurate and has a higher average. But then you must consider that DDS only uses 25% of the bar while blade uses 75%. It really depends on how more efficient your DDS specs are to your primary weapon, and how much defense your enemy has to warrant the extra accuracy. I'd say for typical training and slayer DDS would be better, especially with 60 attack and a brackish blade primary. (Although blade is obviously more convenient in this aspect) With a rapier primary on a pure that can't get korasi though, it's difficult to say.
  23. They're weak to stab (and magic). Whip is still better than brackish though as the extra strength and accuracy makes the small defensive difference trivial. Black demons have incredibly low defense for their combat level for all styles so it really boils down to just using the best weapon. That's highly debatable, possibly true but never 'obviously'. The extra strength levels would quickly make you deal more DPS with brackish blade than you previously did with whip, whereas the attack and defense levels from whip would do very little to improve DPS.
  24. Did you know that the brackish blade special is a guaranteed max hit (Can still miss and hit 0, but spec also has doubled accuracy so this is rare)?! In typical high level slayer gear with turmoil and extremes this max hit is a 578. None slayer is 505. Compare this to korasi under the same conditions, which hits 887(avg 591) on slayer, 772(avg 514) without. As you can see brackish blade is JUST under korasi in terms of average damage per special, but is also a guaranteed value so you can use it to minimize overkill, or guarantee a fast kill. From these you can see that korasi is generally better, but brackish blade is a great alternative to people that do not have access to korasi, or wish to train melee.
