This "free trial"
Ahh, i didn't mean proxy. I mean VPN. RaptorVPN to be precise, works great as it uses your own software such as Javaplayer so that isn't an issue, although it's considerably slower and i wouldn't use it for actual Runescape. Anyway. Made a new account using an American IP. Didn't get an email. So my initial one was my regular British IP (that's known to be used with my main accounts..) and the other was a random American one. Yahoo mail and Hotmail. Neither worked. Only conclusion i can come to is that it's either not working at all currently, it only works for a set % of people or it only works for Brits that don't already have an account. I don't care enough to bother finding an English IP VPN. Edit: There were a TON of level 3s there though. Either the bots are back (I havn't been paying attention) or they're all after the trial too. Edit edit: I signed up for the newsletters and stuff on both of them too.

This "free trial"
Not everyone seems to get it, we are not sure how this is determined Maybe it's something to do with IP. I'm gonna try making another account through a proxy just to see what happens. (I'm already dedicated to my awesome pures new name :/)

This "free trial"
How exactly do you activate this by the way? Or is it already gone? I made a new account specifically to take advantage of it but no emails :(

This "free trial"
This model definitely works by the way. I've been on the edge on making a new p2p pure but this trial has helped me decide to do it, and I'll surely remain member on the pure until I'm bored of the account entirely (Although i guess Jagex is technically losing money. As theres no way I'm paying for my main's membership during the start up period of the pure.)

Preventing others from succeeding
I'd guess you were being douchey in chat or something. I've never been kicked and the only time I've seen someone kicked was because they were leeching and being cocky about it. I've trained 50-89 dungeoneering with randoms.

This "free trial"
It seems like everyone has forgotten, there was a free trial last summer, too. It's a pretty effective incentive to get undecided F2Pers to pay up. I've been thinking about making a low leveled P2P pure. I might use this to do so and see how it goes :P

Your Biggest Ingame Regret?
Haha, yeah good luck with that! Err, my biggest regret would probably be not camping a boss before the effigy nerf. I decided to get all of my effigy skills to 97 before starting slayer/bossing. And I guess waiting like 3 months after juju potions came out to start my mega herb farming obsession; I could've made a killing. And, like everyone else, not buying rares when they were relatively dirt cheap. The effigy thing is one of the few things that went my way :D (Well. Bit me in the ass less than it could have.) I've stockpiled 52 now, and while I'd still like to get a few more between skilling, now i have a nice gap to train the opening skills and use them all. If i had skilled first and started collecting effigies after, it would have been shortly before the nerf I'm sure. Might as well add a regret: Not questing. Quests bring awesome rewards such as TDs and the new awesome cape/easy 5m/h onyx, but i'm far too anti-quest to ever unlock them.

Going to work/school while sick
I guess I'm a sociopath. I seriously and honestly don't care one bit about infecting other people with a cold. (A deadly virus would be a different matter and ridiculous to even compare) It just doesn't come up as a pro or con to 'should i go in and make some money/not hurt chances at promotion?' This probably stems from actual knowledge on viruses. A huge amount of the contagious ones are carried and spread by people that don't show any symptoms themselves, which doesn't justify spreading it, but makes it literally inevitable if it's spreading around town in a large office full of daily subway users. And as long as you're aware of your illness and don't sneeze into people's faces, they're not going to catch anything. (And even if you do, the chance of their immune system not fighting it off is microscopic)

Effigy nerf
Putting personal bias aside, i think it was the right thing to do. Effigies really shouldn't and never were intended to be a primary xp gainer. They were just a nice diversion. The change is good. The problem is that change should have happened months ago. The 'we did it because it made Runecrafting too easy' excuse is awful, though, the fact that people trained this way should be a good sign that Runecrafting needs changed, and not necessarily that the effigies need changed, although they do. I can understand the need for a 'difficult' skill, but Jagex really need to learn the difference between a DIFFICULT skill and a BORING/SLOW skill. As a very basic example, make winning at GOP much better xp than regular Runecrafting. It takes a lot of skill and teamwork, and is much more enjoyable and active than clicking an altar.

Effigy nerf
Very disappointing. I've been forced to 3 options. 1). Level the opening skills right now, do not do any combat until then. (Seeing as combat is my primary money maker this is almost impossible.) 2). Assist them all and use them so i can get the valuable dragonkin lamps and acquire more. Lose millions of opening XP. 3). Play as i always have, doing combat whenever i want, knowing that i won't get any effigies for doing so and that it's generally nerfed the effectiveness of my favorite hobbies. Effigies are not the problem. The crappy skills that people insist on using effigies on as they're so slow/boring are the problem. Most high level players only with RC/Agility to acquire are ironically hardly effected by this nerf anyway. They can simply open their effigies as they please with no negative impact for doing so. (It's assumed they're already at the level they've decided to use lamps on. If not, they'll just level it as they intended to) I'm interested in finding out some figures behind this nerf though. I assume that you can still get effigies with 40 banked, but at a lower rate. Also interested in the new universal rate with 0-4 banked, assuming that's been nerfed too.

Going to work/school while sick
This is the key part that I've discovered over the years. If your employers see you trying your hardest to work when you're slightly ill they're automatically going to assume that when you're off you have a very valid reason. But if you're always in prime condition and take a lot of time off, they'll assume you're just being a wimp. (Especially if you constantly complain about it)

Going to work/school while sick
I'm the opposite. If i stay in bed all day I'll get better by the end of the day. If i go out and work, I'll realize I'm fine by afternoon and be even more confident that it was wise to get out. A lot of it is psychological. Once you get out there, you realize you're fine. (Or you're too busy to stop and feel ill) But if you laze around, you'll just keep thinking about your illness and not even consider the possibility you would have been better off going to work. I'm young and healthy, and really do enjoy work though, so it makes sense I'd prefer to slug it out at work.

Going to work/school while sick
Always do it unless you're carrying something contagious or it's ACTUALLY going to negatively effect your work to an extent coming in is worthless. (hint: A cold does not.) I never used to go to school when i felt ill, or even when i just couldn't be bothered, and i really regret it today, as all i achieved on those days is a few hours of watching crappy TV while feeling sorry for myself, missing out on important lessons and social time with friends. (I wasn't off very often, but i regret the times i was.) As for the performance issues, unless you're seriously incapable of working and reaching the (almost always easy) minimum work expected from you, your boss will respect you way more for toughing it out and getting the work done, especially if it's a busy place or a Monday morning. Hell, even if you go slightly under the minimum, from my experience, your boss will usually sympathize and never in a million years fire you for it. (Unless you're generally a bad employee and he's looking for any legal reason to fire you. Then this should be the last of your worries.) If you're sure you'll be doing less than minimum but otherwise be fine coming in, you should chat with your boss or manager at the start of the day and see what he has to say. The worst that can happen is he'll appreciate your enthusiasm and concern and tell you to take the day off (Possibly paid), which you were going to do anyway. Slightly poor work with a good excuse trumps no work with a poor excuse any day. Finally; money is awesome. I can technically afford to take a few days off, but why would i want to throw away easy money? Hell, I'll see if theres any overtime they want me to do. These are just my experiences from school/college/a relaxed friendly office. If you work in the coal mines or something, it's obviously going to be different.

Chaotic Longsword or Rapier at Frosts?
Rapier by quite a lot. Not only is rapier the highest DPS weapon in general, dragons are weak to stab, and frosts have low defense in general, making the rapier even better.

Fix FPS & lag instead of bringing new game content?
Must say, RS seems to be running pretty well for me on a mediocre 3 year old laptop. I play on standard detail (Is it just me or does it feel waay more claustrophobic now days?) though, because i don't play runescape for graphics, hell, i actually prefer the simple derpy ones.

I'm sick of randoms
They're mainly intended as fun diversions, and still hold a place to stop macros. (External macros are rediculously easy to use in runescape for anything that doesn't have an aspect of randomness) I approve of them being in the game. But i do not approve of their length. All randoms should be similar to the banker's "what is this item". Takes 5 seconds, 20 at most. As they can't be triggered (other than wasting billions getting extremely fast xp such as frosty altar) the length doesn't work as a balance for the xp rewards, if that's an argument a pro-long randoms person would take (if such a person even exists) Infact. The xp reward, and monetary reward, should be much higher in my opinion. High enough to make the average player say 'Yay i'm lucky enough to have gotten 4 randoms today!' instead of 'FML Jagex hates me. 4 randoms today.' Scale money on total level, and just multiply the current xp by 5. I don't think there are any realistically viable methods to get enough xp to trigger these randoms for the increased rewards to be worth the time/money, even used on 99 runecrafting. But it does make cheap high xp rates in less useful skills slightly more attractive. (I considered a 'only 1 random an hour' to stop abuse, but that takes away the whole point of it being random, and would allow a botter to simply trigger a random and then run his macro for an hour care-free.)

Melee training on a pure. No prayer.
I've been thinking. Would troll invasion be a viable training source with dragon claws (Or even DDS)? You use 2 (or 4) attacks and then heal to full via the table, so i can't see the defense even being an issue. And it's brilliant xp on a main. (Easily 150k/hour total xp maxed) My pure isn't members at the moment, and doesn't have 60 attack, so can someone with a 1 defense account try this out, without using protection prayers. Thankies!
-
Melee training on a pure. No prayer.
Ughhh... Really? I seriouslly hate crabs. 500hp just isn't enough to be worth running around uncovering them. Aren't there any good magic attacking creatures to fight? With 80 (eventually 99) magic i have 56% (eventually 70%) of the defense a maxed main would have. Thanks for the gear recommendation though, basically what i already have except the cape. Monk robes are best for prayer?
-
Melee training on a pure. No prayer.
Just curious as to how pures can train melee efficiently. 60 attack. 70 strength. 1 defense. 31 prayer. About 10m to blow, although could be upwards of 100m if theres a significant advantage to do so. I want locations + gear suggestions. Estimated exp/hour would be very appreciated. Don't really care about profit, but i don't want anything that has a rediculously high cost.
-
strength training
Weapon: Rapier > Sarasword > Dragon Scimmy > God sword Shield: Dragon defender > DFS > Obby shield Armour: Best strength bonus possible > Best prayer bonus possible Make sure you use supers and offensive prayer at all times. I know so many people that refuse to spend 50k for 40% faster xp >.> I notice your melee stats are pretty even. Whip on controlled would be the best (other than rapier) way to get overall xp.

Awesome nex drop....
Hah. And i though the fail splits at GWD and corp were annoying.

my pathetic relationship to rs: and how to fix it
Got a full time job. No time for RS anymore. Have a few weeks off. Yay i have time to play RS! ...Naa, i'll go do something that's actually fun. I think that's the problem. I had way too much free time and used to treat runescape as a job. I told myself i was enjoying it, but really, there were way better things to do with my time and the only thing that kept me on RS were the very fond memories, and the commitment already put into my character. (Instead of playing RS i've been replaying Pokemon Red in an attempt to finally catch 'em all :D)

D Chain drop rate
Figure that seems to keep appearing is 1/10000. Definatley not worth going for, for profit. But it's a nice drop to get, for the sake of getting it.

FTP Combat Tactics.
You know. I love Tip.It. I can't think of any other place where someone would say something like this about a dying mainstream MMO, and isn't being ironic. I'm just sorry i'm not crazy enough to devote the required time into helping the cause, yet.

Fix FPS & lag instead of bringing new game content?
Lol. Feels so good to be too busy to play runescape during it's dark days. I just hope it survives and thrives by the time i get back.
