  1. For max speed people would recommend fire cape, there are not many tasks you can't do in one inventory of prayer pots/food. But if you care about money SW cape is probably the best option to avoid wasting as many prayer potions, and is certainly the best option for tasks where you're praying a protection prayer and turmoil at all times to avoid excessive banking. All in all, 4 strength is pretty minimal. And 12 prayer bonus isn't too important when your prayer bonus is already so high. So it won't make much difference either way.

I've been using this set up for waterfiends at ancient cavern. Full elite melee void, chaotic maul, fury, zerk ring (i), dboots, sw cape I use a bunyip for healing as they don't hit much and drop cooked sharks, but i also bring about 6 monkfish for emergencies. The rest of my inventory is 2 super attacks, 2 super strengths, holy wrench, lunar staff, all prayer pots. I pray piety and protect from range at all times, with the massive prayer bonus in the gear above it drains rather slowly and you can last about 50 minutes with that many prayer pots. I get roughly 120 crimson charms an hour like this and the occasional effigy.
  3. Yeah i think i am going to do WGS. It's been a long term goal of mine for a very long time, i just can't bring myself to do many quests in a short period of time for some reason... I used to really enjoy slayer but now it's practically worthless as even the best money maker (abby demons?) is worth far less than other things that don't require huge levels and i simply don't care enough to get 99 for the sake of a cape i'll never wear. (I also did it mainly for charms, but i rather enjoy killing waterfiends with chaotic maul and they're far superior for charms)
  4. Well i've meleed him with a whip at slightly higher levels than you very easily. And rapier'd him on an account with slightly lower stats than you. All you have to do is fill a war tortoise full of rocktails and when you've ate 18 hide behind the pillar for a second, dismiss it and summon a spirit kyatt. Then spam the hell out of ambush scrolls. I only did that because my range level is awful though, you can quite easily range him with diamond bolts at that level. (Still use war tort + kyatt combo to make it even easier) He's really rather easy if you know what you're doing. Just remember to hide behind the pillars at certain parts (His 750 attack) and remember to eat above max when he does his max hp -1 attack. If you melee you can easily get away with all rocktails and perhaps 1 emergency brew. With ranging i think it's best to use all brews as repotting only the range pot isn't as bad. (It might be a good idea to lend a BGS for the fight, simply special him right as the fight starts, if you hit less than 300 just die on purpose and try again so you can lower his defense as low as possible.)
  5. This depends entirely on if you use +1 worlds or not. You have fairly low strength and i assume you want to keep it that way, so i can't think of any expensive item you'd want to keep whilst ranging... So, no. Keep prayer as low as possible and stick to high risk wilderness as you have nothing that will give you as big a strategic advantage as their claws and stuff... Unless you purposely want to fight in +1 worlds with the sole intention in smiting out peoples claws/AGS. In which case, good luck, you're gonna need it.
  6. I can't tell if this is a troll or you're being serious. Mole is pretty awful in my experience, way too frustrating to solo thanks to the digging, despite being weak. And it has very mediocre drops..
  7. So i heard you got de-modded for this. That's just awful. 'Oh no one of our mods has gained common sense and sees how poor a job we do! BAN!' Sad thing is, it doesn't mean anything. Jagex are never going to handle the bots and it's players are never going to quit because of it.
  8. Hmm that is higher than i expected. What methods do you recommend i use there? Like would elite void + sw cape and constantly praying be good? Tank gear? Should i mage some of them?
  9. Sadly i'm about 80 quest points from WGS, otherwise i'd be doing this without hesitation. I gueeeess i could start doing quests towards it, but i'd rather make a little starting money first. Frost dragons aren't really an option for me, i just get too frustrated with all the bots and get very few kills, it's not good for my bank nor my health :P I've never really done much barrows before, but havn't most barrows items dropped quite significantly lately? How much should i expect to make there on average? Are there no boss type things i could solo/team that would be more profitable than these?
  10. I'm just wondering what the best method for money making is at my levels. I only have about 3m cash currently (I have rapier, maul, arcane stream, full void, zerk ring (i), firecape, sw cape...) and was curious how i could make a lot more money for prayer/herblore training. In the past i've relied soley on PVP for money but i'm starting to develop into a real main account now and thus becoming less useful/profitable as a pker, not to mention i despratley need turmoil to even stand a chance at this level. I am willing to train a few levels if neccessary. I hid my skilling levels because i just know i'll get someone saying 'herp derp smith rune platebodies' and that isn't what i'm interested in. Pvm only please. If you wish to know one of my hidden skill levels for pvm reasons just ask.
  11. nomad's cape made prayer not really a problem anymore.. ANyway, from the meta gaming I'd strongly recommend getting a rapier instead of a maul: a rapier is much more versatile, and the difference between rapier/maul is very low at waterfiends. Especially when combined with ardy cloack + dragon defender. Sw cape is almost entirely irrelevant since you should use a firecape almost everywhere. At waterfiends it's probably best to use soul wars, you should be praying piety + protect from range at all times, and even if the prayer potions cost seems trivial to your bank, it will allow you to stay there much longer without banking. Coupled with the fact that the firecapes relative boost when using the maul will be 2.6 compared to the 4 it gives for rapier (Due to the lower amount of hits per hour) I agree about the rapier being the best weapon in general and a must have. But his fairly low attack level and lack of extreme potions mean the maul will consistantly be better for him at waterfiends, and that's what the question was about. Personally, i recommend that in time you get 99 dungeoneering so you can get all possible rewards as they're all very useful. But if you plan on killing waterfiends for 99 summoning and some melee training then a maul is a great investment. Once you get 85 dungeoneering you also unlock the ability to kill frost dragons which drop frost dragon bones worth 14k each kill, are weaker than black dragons and cannonable, resulting in one of the best money making methods in the game... Sadly it's also full of bots so it's hard to find a good world.
  12. When you have a 9m bank you shouldn't consider spending 10m for a +2 strength, +1 prayer and +10 defense bonus. He doesn't even have piety yet. Of course fury is BETTER, but not by such a wide margin that justifies buying it until you already have pretty much everything else you need to spend money on with a few exceptions.
  13. ... I just use my computers clock. I look at what time it is when i start and then i look when i'm finished. I minus them to get the time spent doing whatever i was doing. This isn't perfectly accurate for small tasks unless you look at seconds, but it's pretty handy for timing a slayer task.
  14. CLS is the middle child here. Maul works by being slow yet powerful and accurate. Rapier makes up for its inaccuracy and slightly less powerful hits by being much faster. CLS is only slightly more accurate than the rapier and way too slow to ever be the best of the 3. By all means you can go test the CLS if you think it will be better, but i'm fairly certain it will not beat the maul or the rapier.
  15. Thanks for the reply! That is some great information! Every guide I read says to use SGS and Karil's. So basically I need to get my Dungeneering up and do some Pest Control. I do not have any of the capes you mentioned. What "cloak" should I get and where do I get one? Also, How do I imbue the ring? I am going to have to read up on Dungeneering since I have only done it for about 10 levels and the reset was from Tears of Guthix. Again, thanks for the great info! Also, I would still like to know how to make some good money. If you or anyone have any suggestions just post. Thanks in advance! There are many cloaks that all give the same bonus, i think 'ancient cloak' is currently the cheapest. Just type 'cloak' into the grand exchange and see which one you like. (They give +3 prayer bonus which is useful at waterfiends) To have the ability to imbue rings you must get 300 rank in mobilizing armies minigame. You use items such as fire runes for investment credits and you wager these each match for reward credits. It takes about 210k reward credits to imbue one berserker ring, and if you do maximum wager the whole time (Should only cost 2-3m) then you will get 2m+ reard credits, enough to imbue 10 rings. You can also imbue warrior ring, seers ring, archers ring, onyx ring... and other less useful ones. Berserker is what you should wear for waterfiends though. I'm sure there are a lot of good guides for this that you can look up. :) A little dungeoneering tip is just stick to small complexity 6 floors and bind the best 2h you can wield asap, but you can find a good guide for this too if you want to know more.
  16. *groan* By the way, efficiency doesn't mean 'speed' at all. It means 'best'. If he only has 16m then doing a method that takes 50 hours and makes him 50m is better than something that takes 30 hours and loses 15m. And if he does decide to choose a method that loses money he most certainly should do it last unless it has an effect on other skills, as then he will have enough money and not have to worry about wasting it and being back to square one. Efficiency at heart.
  17. I'd recommend getting a chaotic rapier (Yes. Not a maul.) and killing them with that for charms. Then training range somewhere else, such as red chinning.
  18. I don't have any experience here due to my hatred of mining, but can't you alch the bars for even better magic experience and an easier form of dropping? Or does that interrupt the superheating? Looking at it purely from statistics, banking the bars would be silly. The whole point is you get maximum experience, why cut into that by banking fairly worthless bars?
  19. I think it goes without saying that you crush your mud runes in advance and collect any other items requires/bring everything as close to 'unf' as it gets in extremes... Other than that i don't have much to say about herblore, simple easy fast money sink, go nuts. Your plan sounds good. I also plan on doing summoning when it hits 1.1 (A tiny part of me feels like it might possibly allow summoning and altars this time around, but i doubt it.) if that is the case then i'm definatley going to be using all my charms asap and then frosts on altar, but i realise the chances of this being the case are roughly 0.1% >.>
  20. Well first of all, waterfiends do not require most of the things you said. I'd recommend you get 80 dungeoneering and a chaotic maul, it is far, far superior to an SGS and it's FREEEE. Then you should do a few days of pest control for full void melee. I see you almost have the stat requirements, so i'd also suggest you complete a void dance for elite void +korasi as it gives a rather impressive prayer bonus of +4 on each item, top and bottom. Void is recommended as it gives excellent magic defense, a huge 10% more accuracy and strength, and the elite version gives a huge prayer bonus which means you can stay there far longer with few pots. Berserker ring is a great item, especially imbued, but with chaotic maul it isn't *AS* important as the slow speed and already huge strength bonus make it fairly minimal, if you do get this, make sure you get it imbued because it is so useful and you will never regret doing it. Fury is also very meh, with only a +2 strength on glory and some defense, not worth 10m unless you're rolling in money. Chaotic maul ~ Price: Free! Time: Between 2-8 weeks depending on how much you play. Void melee helm ~ Price: Free! Time: 3 hours Void body ~ Price: Free! Time: 0 (You get 1 free from A void dance quest) Void legs ~ Price: Free! Time 3 hours (+1 to make elite) Void gloves ~ Price: Free! Time: 2 hours Berserker ring ~ Price: 3.5m Time: 0 (optional: About 25 hours gameplay to reach rank 300, with enough credits to imbue TEN rings!) Amulet of glory ~ Price: 30k Time: 0 SW cape/Fire cape/ Skillcape T/ardycape 3 ~ Price: Free! Time: 0 (If you have none of these, get a cloak for about 150k) Dragon boots ~ Price: 160k Time: 0 Total comes to only 3.7m and a little bit of your time doing things that you will need anyway and keep forever.
  21. Yeah 6.20$ for 10m is a pretty good deal. If i was you i'd look around for a better deal though. Seriously though the state jagex have allowed the game to be in is disgusting and this video was really well done, but i was a little disappointed you didn't show the frost dragon bots.
  22. On a task rapier will be even better as it gets more out of the potential 18 strength bonus from b gloves and bandos. (Basically, each hit gets the extra strengh bonus of 18, so faster weapons benefit from it greater) Plus you'll be even more accurate :) "I've actually been noticing that rapier beats maul out on lots of crush weak monsters" To be perfectly honest there really are no monsters that are weak to one style of melee and absolute tanks against others outside of deamonhiem... Waterfiends are pretty much the only exception. Sure, dragons are weak to stab... But whip is still far better than other weapons such as leafbladed sword, i cringe everytime someone recommends something like that.
  23. I havn't checked yet, but i'm sure the bots are already running with the new graphics. If not yet, give them a week.

I killed him yesterday with melee. On my first attempt. With 84 attack. Trollface.jpg
  25. I completely agree with this and if you read the post you would have realised that this is just the start, i plan on getting more trips and logging each one. This at least shows that rapier has potential. If anyone else would like to try this and record their kills (Preferable if you log how many kills per hour instead of charms, i just did charms because it's easier to keep track of.) then i'll gladly add it to the OP and make a huge database of results. For now though this is just going to be a solo project out of personal interest. I agree with the maul being nicer to use Quyneax, it's just a lot more satisfying getting super accurate 600s... Plus the weapon speed helps for picking up drops and i assume soulsplitting is easier too. Even if rapier is slightly more efficient i think i'll still use the maul on occasion just for the sake of using it. Also: Video is up now in the first post. Its just a 3 minute clip of me killing them with the rapier, i don't think i'd be capable of recording a full trip and i doubt anyone would want to actually see that. The clip is simply to show the gear/location/method and get a small grasp on the type of killrate that i was getting.
