  1. thanks, this is exactly what i was looking for Those are the 'never burn' levels except for rocktails. I'd recommend you start each one a few levels earlier as the burn rate is so small the XP/hour easily beats the lower level fish.
  2. Honeslty summoning is such a pain to get all the charms, the cost of using them is the least of your worries. All i know is that using conventional methods it's usually cheaper than herblore and prayer. Gold charms are actually much better xp/gp, but they're also obviously very slow in comparison to crimsons or blues. Greens have awful xp/gp and they're fairly slow, if i cared about the cost over the time collecting charms, these would be the one i'd ignore. Crimsons are about the same gp/xp as greens but a lot faster. Blues can be profitable at times, and they're amazing xp.
  3. There was a glitch where you didn't get hit or something and the kyatt did all the work... That got nerfed. I just use it because it's by far the greatest DPS of any familiar until iron titan, and you can spam it's attack even when eating, so your overall damage isn't interrupted too much when you have to heal.
  4. Awesome, I'll definitely try it. Getting Turmoil soon so it should be easy if you did it with 70 :D How many tries did it take you? 1 on that account because i knew what i was doing. I died on my main (mainly all 90s) the first time because i was just checking out his attack methods without looking at a guide :P And i didn't take a kyatt. Dieing is safe though, your grave spawns about 10 tiles away from you.
  5. Ahh right... I don't really care about leveling useless skills beyond quest requirments, so i'll go for fast and easy all the way.
  6. Sometimes you will need the lamps though to get to the level to start opening effigies with the skill. For instance, I used some effigies to get 80-89 something rc (together with pengs and elite diaries) and then I could start boosting for effgies and assists. If I wouldn't have done that, I'd have stayed low rc forever. Even at 91 rc, I used some lamps on them so I could get 93 faster, which makes getting assists so much easier. If I had to wait until I had enough xp from just opening effigies, I would have had a much harder time getting assists for a while. Also, bank space can be an issue. If were speaking about multiple levels by just opening effigies, you'd need space for hundreds of them (11k per effigie on average), which most people don't have. That being said, in an ideal case, it's best to do what you did yeah. Yeah i have some common sense around me and will be capable of making decisions like that :P Bank space isn't really an issue, i recently cleared out some rubbish and have well over 100 spaces and it's still full of other junk i could get rid of.
  7. I've done it with 70 prayer, 83 strength 72 attack 40 defense with dhide and a whip. (With sharks.) The best advice i can give you is to summon a terrorbird full of rocktails, and when you've ate about 9 rocktails dismiss your bird and summon a spirit kyatt. Bring 100 ambush scrolls and spam the hell out of them while focusing on attacking and eating. Hide behind the pillar when he does his wrath attack, this isn't needed and you can easily tank it, but it should save a little food. He has a lot of hitpoints and fairly high defense so a BGS special is more useful than claws (imo)... If you have a stat hammer for some reason (DO NOT BUY ONE JUST FOR THIS) then that would be perfect.
  8. Crafting is far easier to train than agility, yet 87 vs 92 is about 2.5m xp difference, and agility is much more useful in general. I'll seriously consider this. Thieving. I'm far too poor for construction. (Besides, theiving is very fast itself.) Cooking, yes you're right, thanks. Fishing. I dispise farming. (I know it's good money, but no. Just no.) I always thought fletching was faster xp. Herblore. I'm getting it soon anyway so i can just ignore hunter, of course if i didn't want herblore i'd get hunter though. I always thought smithing was faster xp. I may do mining though as i'm not prepared to pay huge amounts for faster xp. Summoning... HOLY!! You can boost summoning by 10?! That's amazing... I can use my charms to get 81 immediatley and start opening 91 effigies for massive boost in xp. I plan on getting 100's of effigies so i really can't decide an exact level to start using dragonkin lamps. I'm thinking maybe at 86-87 so i can get a unicorn asap, and then gp back to effigy collecting (most of my methods get decent charm rates) and using those charms. With this +10 summoning boost though i could possibly be leveling it a lot more than i thought with effigy opening though. Care to explain how exactly these boosts are activated, how much effort it is to do or unlock the ability to do, and how reliable it is for effigy opening. (I've never done clan citadel in my life.) ((and is it only agility and summoning that can be boosted?))
  9. I've heard talk of clan citadel boosting much more than other methods and am very interested in using and abusing this to open my effigies. I'm just going to put out the current levels i plan on getting and boosts i plan on using. Correct me where i'm wrong, and suggest another skill entirely if you think it would be easier. 70/92 crafting (Pain in the butt to find assist, will do first... +5 from spicy stews, will slowly level from effigies and use +3 crafting pots when 94) 68/92 thieving (+5 from spicy stews, +3 from summer s'quirk juice at 94) 80/92 cooking (+5 boost from chefs delight) 72/92 fishing (+5 admirals pie) 70/92 fletching (+5 spicy stew, +3 from fletch pot when 94) 54/93 herblore (+ 5 spicy stew Not easiest of the 2, but i'm getting it anyway for pvm reasons, will slowly get 96 from this which is handy for no stew ovls :)) 72/92 smithing (Pain in the butt to train, easy to find assist... This will come last, if i ever do it :P.) 70/99 summoning... This is whole reason i'm using effigies. I'll be saving all of these for when i have the actual levels to use them, soon as i'm 91 summ i'm going to level so fast. Note that i will be using a spicy stew at 86 to open a 91 effigy, and a crafting pot at 90 to open a 93 effigy and other examples of common sense like that for the easy xp and getting 1 step closer, so don't bother mentioning that.
  10. pfft, Jagex doesn't ban bots. Lets get real... When is the last time you've been to Tzhaar's? There is easily over 20 bots at any moment per 10 square runescape blocks. And it has been like this for months. Jagex don't ban bots. So a couple of those bots will not get an onyx, but almost all will. Fixed. You're not listening. I am not saying that jagex will ban a noticable number of bots, not at all. What i am saying is that the bot users will not save up for an onyx over the fear of being banned. They could easily get an onyx's price in obby weapons and transfer it daily instead of take a huge risk of being banned with almost an onyx.
  11. pfft, Jagex doesn't ban bots. Lets get real... When is the last time you've been to Tzhaar's? There is easily over 20 bots at any moment per 10 square runescape blocks. And it has been like this for months. Jagex do ban bots. Not often, but they do occasionally for publicity. Botters know this. So few will risk a potential few M worth of tokkul while going for an onyx when they could get money at any time to transfer instead. So many of those bots will not get an onyx, but some will. And that's why it has some sort of impact, but not as many as you may think at first.
  12. Just for a reference point, you are almost 9 times less likely of getting back to back whip drops than a 14 task dry streak, yet that happens to 'someone else' every single damn day.
  13. A number of reasons. 1). Since free trade the value of 1gp has rose quite a lot, resulting in prices of most items falling with it. 2). People are selling their expensive items to buy supplies for xp weekend. The sudden supply overwhelms the smaller demand and prices fall fast. 3). There has been a sudden surge of thzaar bots that go for uncut onyx's. I'd be suprised if bots actually get onyxs (If it were me i'd be buying a cheaper obby item so i could transfer the wealth incase my bot got banned) but i'm sure this has some sort of impact.
  14. I have heard of them before and the charm rate certainly sounds appealing to me. I'm going to give these a shot, thanks for reminding me of them. Also: What should i wear? I obviously want a high prayer bonus... But elite void won't effect the cannon accuracy so dhide should be prefered? And SW cape would be great but ava's would really decrease the cost..? EDIT: Just went for a trip in dhide with a swcape as bolts are fairly cheap anyway, and it worked out pretty awesome. The charms aren't spectacular for someone that has no lifed waterfiends for weeks, but they're not bad at all! And the range xp was pretty nice too. I think next time i'll bring 2 war tortoise pouches as the trip ended before i had run out of supplies due to my familiar dieing on me (epic fail, i teled as it died so i didn't get any loot... Grrrr, lol.) But imagining that i did get the loot in the tort, it would have paid for the cannonballs and prayer potions pretty evenly, so this is great. (Although none of the items i did get seem to be selling at well under average in the ge, this worries me a little.)
  15. They started crashing so hard because people bought them out in anticipation for the vine whip, which of course sucked and left all these people with far too many whips and no demand for them. So they started selling low and no one buyed. With the effectivness of chaotic weapons and the ease of aquiring them (especially with dungeoneering bots) the whip is becoming more and more of medium risk pk only weapon and that demand simply won't be enough to outweight the supply from slayers as the whips never actually leave the game, they're just transfered from one pker to the next, who will immediatley sell it for whatever price they can, which will not be a lot. It will probably raise a few 100k soon and then continue to slowly drop again.
  16. I hope they give slayer a point. Currently runescape is all about farming the same creature as they're the best money/xp and doing anything else is pointless. Slayer was supposed to change this, but once you unlock whatever you want to kill you don't need to do anything else. If they made all slayer creatures only killable while on a task things like whips and dboots would rise a huge amount, i'd like that.
  17. Jagex are just really bad at what they do. They can't please their players, they can't make money. They fail in any aspect as an entertainment company. It seems like now it's just a bunch of short term investors that plan on squeezing as much money out of the game before they drop it on it's head. Expect jagex publically selling gold, levels or useful untradables within the year, and for that money to have been a waste in a year or two after that when it's dead.
  18. Wait what, theres been one announced?
  19. You should train dungeoneering to 80 and get yourself a chaotic maul. This should get a few cb levels. Now you're going to max out melee at waterfiends. This is only 60-70k xp an hour (+30k hp) but you'll be getting something invaluable, crimson charms. By the time you get max melee, depending on the levels you started at, you should have enough charms for 96 summoning, probably less as you are a fairly high combat level already. Prayer is obvious, get money, buy bones, use on altar. You should cannon cave crawlers in the desert slayer dungeon for rather nice range xp, and more importantly, a lot of effigies and some charms. This will help you max out summoning and possibly other skills such as prayer and herblore if you are not interested in training more annoying skills such as runecrafting. Magic can simply be done by casting your highest level standard spell and alching inbetween casts for extra xp. With firesurge at metal dragons in max mage this can get over 225k/hour experience an hour.
  20. I guess i just suck at kiting. I always seem to be hit. And how do you kill jad? Isn't his melee attack much faster? I personally struggle to handle prayer switching his slow range/mage attacks.
  21. Made me LOL. If you say this, you are saying that you dont use a whip, d boots, or other slayer only gear. My bad, slayer is a pointless skill to train. The best task, abyssal demons, are no where near as good money as things such as frost dragons. There simply isn't any reward for leveling and it's doubtful jagex are going to do anything about it. And the only slayer related gear i use is dboots, and i have the level to get them myself. (Not that i ever would, they're like 150k.) Cannoning spectres is profitable..? Would that require banking the herbs every 2 minutes or are you talking just about stackables?
  22. Would i even last a day here with a 7m bank? And didn't crawlers' effigy rate get nerfed? ...How useful would herbicide be here if i were to cannon till 90+ range? What weapon should i wield while cannoning, cmaul or rune cbow... Or other? Slayer is a pointless skill. I refuse to train it any further.
  23. If i were you i'd just range it. Melee is very difficult to do, especially without soulsplit, and after a 2 year break you'd be lucky to do it even with range (jad himself has changed since then) I'm only 75 range and i prefer that to my almost maxed melee. Sure, try melee when you don't have 25k bonus slayer xp on the line, but it's not worth risking when you do :P
  24. Range is by far my least liked combat skill, but i intend on killing TD's religiously as soon as i possibly can, and i'd like to be capable of killing all gwd bosses as efficiently as possible too. So i pretty much have to train range... I currently only have about 7m bank, but a friend owes me 85m that i should get back in 2 or 3 weeks. (I lent him 85m to get him back on his feet when i had 150m, since then i've lost most of my remaining bank, long story :P) So i am looking for a small loss/profitable method that is good xp and preferably not going to make me want to cut my eyes out while doing. I have void + broad bolts. I've been cannon/rapiering black dragons today for effigies but that's really rather minimal range xp and i can't see myself getting 99 range from that any time this decade. I intend to red chin to 99 as soon as i have money (I'm getting 92 herblore first, so if prices rise thanks to xp weekend i may not be able to afford this.) but until then i'd like to train my range as high as possible. If i can get half decent charms or effigies while training that will deifnatley be a huge plus that i wouldn't mind losing some extra GP doing.
  25. I'm a little confused about costs and multipliers ect, but this calculator is exactly what i needed to tell what level i'll be after i use my current charms, and in which order to use them. Awesome, thanks for the link. It's a shame it doesn't count dragonkin lamps, i'd really like to know if it would be more efficient to use them at lower levels to unlock better things to use my charms on, or save till last for the slightly more xp per lamp. I guess i'll just have to work that one out manually. (I know in general it's better to save the lamps till later levels, but if i can use some at certain points to unlock another pouch to use charms on then it may result in better xp overall)
