  1. Shame you didn't include liklihood of getting an item. I've heard that all revs have the exact same chance of dropping any item ranging from corrupt dragon helm to vestas longsword, and others stating only the high ones drop the best items with efficiency. All i know is that i triod for over an hour with 2 noobs with lootshare off and got 95% of every single kill and the only thing i got were coins. (They said they only got coins too) Kinda put me off doing it.
  2. Listed by usefulness in my personal opinion: Rapier or CLS are amazing, but if you had either you wouldn't be asking this question. (Rapier > CLS btw) Saradomin Sword is the next best thing to rapier, why do you need a shield so badly anyway? Korasi has slightly better stats than the scimitar, and a much better special. Brackish blade is almost identical to scimmy but stab based instead of slash, useful for dragons, the only reason i ever wear a shield other than d defender :D Whip on controlled still gets 1/3 strength xp... Certainly better than nothing. Dragon longsword is... Well... It's pretty awful. Nevermind. Nobody knows what this 'vine whip' is going to bring to the table. Perhaps it will add a strength training option, doubtful, but possible.
  3. It's common knowledge that 1 fight caves run = 1 perfect slayer task, that's the whole point of it. I agree wherever you read this should be updated.
  4. Get 95 prayer asap. Then tormented demons or nex.
  5. I'm also making a turmoil zerker and i agree with the guy above me, 99 attack is more of a hinderance than it is a help. Being absolutley maxed including constitution, i'd be 99 combat with 60 attack. Being absolutley maxed with 99 attack, i'd be 112 combat. 13 combat levels worth that extra accuracy? When you're 60 you'll be fighting lower defense levels anyway, and will have access to d claws, one of the most accurate specials in the game...
  6. Not only is zerker ring more versatile than warrior ring, I.E. it can be used with any melee weapon instead of just slash based ones... Strength > Accuracy in almost any case, especially when your weapon is already adequately accurate such as the CLS.
  7. I'm not a big fan of low level pking as low levels are capable, and often do, eat the best food (sharks/rocktails) while you're only capable of dealing a fraction of the damage that a maxed pure would be capable of. But for a low level i'd probably suggest 50 attack 70+ strength 70+ range. Use magic shortbow with rune arrows and switch to granite maul for the special KO. If the gmaul fails to kill, use a rune crossbow with dragon (e) bolts. (Using crossbow bolt- maulspec-maulspec-crossbow bolt is a good way to deal a lot of damage in a short period of time.) If you're a 'no honour' type of player, having 82 magic, 50 attack and 80+ strength you can ice blitz-maul hit-maulspec-maulspec... All in 1 attack with enough skill, this has a damage potential of over 1200 and should kill unexpecting players easily. If you fail, simply teleport to duel arena and fight or forfiet a match to lose your skull and regain special attack instantly, now tele back to edgeville (Ancients home teleport :)) and try again.
  8. There are no creatures in f2p that have defense levels high enough to make the longbow better than the shortbow. Against someone in full rune with 99 defense however, the longbow would be significantly better as it's only 1 tier of speed slower than the shortbow (Unlike normal longbows which are 2 tiers) and the heavily increased accuracy would greatly increase your chance of hitting your target. Another benefit of the longbow's huge range bonus is that it allows you to wear melee armour that would have a much bigger impact on the shortbows relativley puny bonus, so perhaps if you had to tank enemies for a long time and banking was a nusience, then wearing better armour with the longbow would be best (I don't play f2p so i can't think of anything where this would be the case, considering rangers can safespot most enemies.) so again i come back to pking, being able to tank hits while being accurate yourself would be a great benefit. In a no rules ranged death match in duel arena, i'd certainly wear full rune with the longbow, opposing dhide with the shortbow. (Although for pking, you can't really rely on range being your primary cause of kills as people often teleport or run, you should use a rune 2h to finish them.)
  9. I often use fire surge on black demons/metal dragons wearing SoL and Arcane Stream necklace. It gives 90 base xp per cast so that's a guaranteed 90k xp an hour, and it's capable of hitting over 400 and is very accurate, especially on demons. On top of all this, since it's standard mage book, you can alch at the same time! (You alch as you autocast and it does not interupt as long as you do not 'queue alchs' and instead wait for the animation to be fully over before starting your next alch. Heres a little video explaining how to do it (Sadly the video shows melee, but it works with magic and ranged, too.)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjJwpyYi-Eg You can expect anywhere between 200-250k magic xp an hour, and some hitpoints to boot! I know you said money wasn't an issue, but with SoL and battles robes you can expect each spell to cost roughly 500 coins instead of their usual 900 as this will save a lot of runes. And with metal dragons and black demons the ashes/bones/rune equipment/visages/dragon items makes up for most if not all of the rune cost. Best thing about this is that's its very easy and simple to do and requires no planning, when barraging you must line up all your enemies perfectly before casting etc. and that generally wastes a lot of time.
  10. You clearly havn't been to frost dragons lately. Thanks to all the botters, getting even 1 dragon to yourself is almost impossible. I've reported over twenty 130's+ in the past few days.
  11. I usually fire surge them with SoL and Arcane stream necklace. Can take them down in no time. I hear rapier and maxed strength gear is better, but i need to train magic anyway. :D Why on earth would you skip btw? Mithril dragons are one of my favorite tasks, 18 points in a few minutes, and chance of dfh/visage.
  12. I found the first Cars pretty awful. Ratatouille was bad, too. But who cares, first toy story 3 and now a sequel to monsters inc, I can forgive them for some fail when it's surrounded with this much win.
  13. With a magic potion, 660. (All strength of magic potions boost your damage 21% at max as long as you're 7+ levels above your max level.) Without, 546.
  14. I'm not going to argue that magic is faster than melee, but with staff of light, arcane stream neck and full ahrims it's pretty damn good. If you pray range and far cast them they only attack you with magic, which you're pretty resistant against in full ahrims. I've been using this as a method for training 93-99 magic and once i'm 99 i'll probably go back to melee, but with a max hit of over 400 and 80%+ accuracy (Probably closer to 90%, but i don't have any real figures) magic will burn through them like a fire surge through a metal dragon. And it's 90 base xp per spell, too. :D This brings me onto another spell that is great here, flames of zamorak. With a max hit of 396 just with arcane steam neck and regular magic potions... And it's magic draining effect that greatly weakens not only the dragons magic defense, but it's only method of harming you while praying range, it's magic attack. The dragon's high hp make this drain effect actually useful. The only reason i don't use this personally is because of it's rather dreadful base xp of 35.
  15. So you're telling me rapier has the best DPS, and dagger has one of the highest DPS's and the 2h has the worst DPS? Does this graph take accuracy into consideration at all?
  16. For anyone interested, you can actually use the script those guys use and disable the bot to get the paint to show up, including it tracking all your kills and loots such as visage. I wouldn't recommend it though, those places are riddled with keyloggers and viruses. Not to mention even owning the script is probably ban-worthy.
  17. Yeah i've used super pots for years and met a lot of people that didn't during slayer tasks and told them they're stupid... Now i'm onto using piety on most tasks, i really feel like i'm getting closer and closer to meta gaming, lol. Can't wait till turmoil, will probably save me more in prayer potions than the bones will cost.
  18. This formula takes a huge assumption that i have never seen anyone prove or disprove that attack level directly equates to % chance of hitting on a balanced rate. If you know this to be false please show me proof and make me feel silly. It's actually a very simple calculation that people seem to over complicate. Strength is always better or equal to accuracy. Strength is only better if your accuracy is very high. Defensive. 99 str = 495 max hit 99 attack = 49.5% of hitting Average hit is 245 Accurate. 102 str = 510 max hit 99 attack = 49.5% of hitting Average hit is 252.4 Aggressive. 99 str = 495 max hit 102 str = 51% of hitting Average hit is 252.4 These are of course made up numbers but this is how it works. Strength is more efficient as you can always get lucky accuracy wise, but you'll never hit over your max possible hit. I first discovered this formula when working out which is the better dungeoneering ring, tactician or berseker, with a mighty 20% difference either way. And that showed strength more efficient if your accuracy was over 83% or otherwise equal. I'm too lazy to work out the accuracy % you need before strength is actually better in this case, but with a 3 level difference it will be roughly 98%... So the safest option is to just keep strength on at all times. Not only is it equal/better... Having a slightly higher max hit is just more appealing :D Original working out of the dungeoneering rings, incase anyone is interested.
  19. I was mainly talking about maging, fire surge with SoL and Arcane stream imparticular. I didn't really consider the slayer aspect of it, but with magic you can far cast them, pray range, and tank their magic attack pretty efficiently, lasting far longer than you would with melee and getting some fairly hard hitting and very accurate spells in. I guess rapier would probably be slightly faster for 1 inventory if you only have like 7 as a task, though. I use these as a cheap magic training method so i instantly thought of long term killing 1000's. And as for the great damage, i mean the fact that the rapier can hit 650+ in the right gear so much faster that it's average hit will be very high and due to the speed, it should make up for misses. I'm well aware that the maul hits higher, but due to it's slow speed it's actual DPS on 0 defense is much lower. (This basically boils down to whether or not the waterfiends defense level is high enough to bridge this gap of DPS difference, i believe it is a close call under ideal circumstances.)
  20. I have done before and it works out as being better dps unless your enemy has over roughly 550 defense. I have no idea how enemies defense levels are actually calculated and i came onto this conclusion with the aid of another player. I'd love if you or someone else explains how these calculations were originally formed.
  21. At a gues, I'd say low because it doesn't interrupt woodcutting, teaks for woodcutting xp, and LRC for living rock caverns. High alching doesn't interrupt woodcutting, either. (Or at least it didn't 3 months ago the last time it tried.) And to answer the original question, yes, 1200 an hour is the absolute maximum as you alch once every 3 seconds. Actually achieving this is pretty much impossible though and you should expect anywhere from 1000-1150 on a long term basis depending on how chatty you are and how much you afk.
  22. Dagger has a considerably higher max hit. Dragon dagger = 479-479 (958) in the wilderness Dragon dagger = 549-549 (1098) on a slayer task. This is in max gear, which is unlikely, but for this example lets roll with it. While rapier hits 587 in wilderness and 675 on a slayer task using the same gear. So yeah. Much, much higher damage potential. The usefulness becomes better the better your gear is, as the daggers puny 40 strength is much more effected by the gear than the rapiers already mighty 101. To emphasize this check out the results with no gear other than the weapon. Dagger = 330-330 (660) in wilderness Dagger = 347-347 (694) with extremes. Rapier = 437 in wilderness Rapier = 461 with extremes. For best effeciency rapier is much better on things with very high defense though as the dragon dagger will most likely not hit. But dagger is invaluable for pking and the sorts for the big KO hit.
  23. Awful original post and i laughed my ass off at the 'video proof' where you get owned by a longsword until you get 2 lucky hits in a row and then.... LOL HE WAS EATING SWORDFISH THE FULL FIGHT. And comparing longsword to vls and rapier to whip as if vls and whip are the same thing anyway is rediculous, everyone knows vls is overpowered, that's why it's 60m for 1 hour of use and whip is 900k. But as a whole, i agree, and i have actual facts. For these examples i'm going to be using the gear that i consider the best. There are higher strength options but i think the accuracy is more important. Fury, Dboots, Zerk ring (i), Full torva, D defender, Fire cape. Max strength and accuracy with longsword is 162 str and 171 slash. Max strength and accuracy with rapier is 143 str and 138 stab. Rapier gets 5 hits every time longsword gets 4 hits. Longsword: 162 x 4 = 648 strength 171 x 4 = 684 accuracy Rapier: 143 x 5 = 715 strength 138 x 5 = 690 accuracy As you can see, not only is rapier a lot stonger, but it is also slightly MORE accurate. Longsword is literally only better if your enemy has very high stab defense and low slash defense. TD's are the only exception to this rule i can think of due to the nature of their prayer switching methods, but even then cls is not the best weapon for the job. Maul is better as it hits even higher and more accuratley.
