Just test it for yourself. Wear a Ring of Wealth. Kill about 1k of somthing add up the drops, and the nothings if any depending what you kill. Then just don't wear it and kill 1k more of the same guys.

It doesn't have an affect on my life that much. Only effect it really has is I heard 2 kids on my buss talking about it lol. I think there like level 50's or something, so I decided I won't tell them that I play lol.

I mean updates a great, but theres no need for a schedual. In a way its jagex's fault too. They realease the "Behind The Scenes" which contains 4 Updates that equal 4 weeks. If they just realesed updates randomly people wouldn't crap there pants if there wasn't an update every week.
