Forum Rule Changes
The_Sith replied to The_Sith's topic in Announcements, Rules and Security Warnings!
Regarding Moderate Bumping It has come to the attention of the Tip.it Staff that bumping old topics with legitimate purposes and having them locked is not very justified. Many of such threads are harmless and have just died out overtime. We've now adjusted the rule about bumping. Users are allowed to bump old threads if their reply contributes to the topic. If the reply is spammy nonsense, the reply will be removed and the thread will go back to where it was. The forum rules have been updated to reflect this change. Please do not rush out and try to bump up all the old threads you can. This rule was adjusted not so people can cause trouble and work for the mods, but so legitimate discussion can happen on all types of threads. Thanks for reading. :) -
New Ideas!! ~~ READ & Comment ~~
The_Sith replied to Necromancer_Magic's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
The purpose of this board is to collaborate and gather ideas. Not that this case was too bad but please, keep an open mind. Also note to everyone - while users may say "no" to your ideas, that doesn't mean they aren't going to be looked at by the staff. I think almost all of Necro's ideas were good and I would like to see a lot of the implemented. -
Stickied now. ;)

i think yew tree autoers have hit max point here -.-
The_Sith replied to runescapeloser22's topic in General Discussion
Please take the time to black out the autoer names in your picture, like you have done with the others. And yes, the no naming rule even applies to those level-3 accounts. Thanks! :) -
One mans journey to reduce autoers! rawr
The_Sith replied to Nazgul740's topic in General Discussion
Metallica was the only person to post the images correctly - WITHOUT names. When making posts saying, "So and so is an autoer" or "look at all the autoers!," you MUST remove the names from the picture or else the thread will be locked. You can make just as much of a point by having a picture with no names rather than having one with names. Thanks. -
I've moved this to General for you. :)

Nice point, sigjicu. As I posted in another WoW thread, my friend tried to run into mobs 2-3 levels higher (and 5-6 mobs at a time) and tried to kill them. No way! That just won't happen (special circumstances excluded). The thing you have to realize about WoW before transitioning is that it IS a different game from RuneScape. I am not discounting your position on the game at all, sig, but your problems with the game are because you are so used to RuneScape. It's just a totally different experience than RuneScape. You have to go at it without any expectations or preconceived thoughts about what it is like. @Kiel: I'll send you a message right now.

I think the game is great and have been playing it for a little over a year. I think the community in some ways is better than RuneScape's due to a variety of reasons. I do disagree with the "10-13" part and do not think that fits well at all. While you run across some younger people (and you can tell), there are many older people playing it as well as people in their late teens. You are hardly inundated with junk messages - I've never had to turn "General" chat off at all. I find the community to be much more mature than any I've experienced. (Again, I know there are a few oddities and people who are extremely immature - but overall, it's great). I am a person who prefers to solo and with WoW, you can do that. I've played a Priest, Mage, and Druid. While the priest got tough to solo with at around 55-60 (when I respecced out of shadow), it was still possible. Games like City of Heroes require a LOT of grouping and while that may be ok for some people, I still prefer to solo - which is totally possible in WoW. Getting to 60 and having PVP fun along the way is all up to you. The grouping system in WoW is very well coordinated also. It's so easy to find a group and people are often very nice and communicative when grouping. Don't think that finding a group is a daunting task - it really isn't! Once you hit level 60 (and want to get better gear), you will have to do some 20/40-man raids (or private missions). These often take hours and while it isn't required, being in a guild with ~forty 60s helps a lot. Raiding at level 60 can be boring for some people. It's fun at first but can easily get tedious. Still, for people who aim to get the best gear possible, it isn't exactly a horrible way to go about it. The guild and DKP system is very advanced and it works. I think it also helps that WoW provides many community-like opportunities so it makes it easy to group and create and manage guilds. There are a few types of servers and Role-Playing is one of them, where you can get very enveloped in the World of Warcraft world. My first character I created was a mage and I loved the scenery and the interaction with NPCs and real people. I took my time in the starting zones and when it came to looking around in the first capital city, I looked at every nook and cranny. You can have a submersive experience if you like. You have to remember that you are spending your money on it - it is up to you to decide how you want to play. While there will be pressure from other people forcing you to play a certain way, you don't have to do that. WoW is really an experience that is hard to describe through words. I do not think you will regret buying the game at all. There are a multitude of things to do and you don't have to grind your way to the high levels. Once you have hit 60 and have done all the end-game content you like (that will take awhile!!), the replay factor is great. "Re-rolling" on a new class, race, or even faction (Horde / Alliance) is a popular thing among WoW players. I really think you'll have a great time with the game. :)

Very bad news, Sluggy. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Major ((((HUGS))))!! :(

Forum Rule Changes
The_Sith replied to The_Sith's topic in Announcements, Rules and Security Warnings!
Thought I'd flag the Announcement Board with a bump on this thread. It would be very helpful if all users read and understood this! Thanks. :) -
Please take the time to private message "some mod" rather than posting on the thread. If users provide a helping hand, the staff can better keep these boards clean and friendly. Thanks! And yes, locked - please post on the appropriate Market Board.

How do I add [ Moderator ] type things on php boards?
The_Sith replied to panhead's topic in Tech and Computers
You need to install it via the FTP, not via the admin panel. I wouldn't rush into trusting giving someone FTP access either. You may not even have it if you're running the forum off of a free Phpbb site. -
Congratulations to Albosky, our newest forum administrator! Albosky will be working hard behind the scenes, updating the forum in many ways. He's the new "forum technician," so you may notice a few changes in the next few weeks (may have noticed some already). He'll also be peforming administrator duties. :) Well done, albosky! You've certainly earned this. -The Tip.it Admins

I try not to say it more often than is needed. And when I do want to show that I'm laughing, I mix it up between "heh, hehe, haha, hah, lol" etc. I try to be very aware of what I type as I notice repitition of words or phrases very often in other people. This is mostly in chats though, as I hardly play RuneScape anymore. I never use any other version of "lol" other than the original acronym; lawl, l0lz, or whatever look pretty silly. Same with other words such as "sry" and "pl0x" - is it that hard to type out the entire word?

Tip.It Staff List @Stev updated on Thursday, May 11, 2015 [anchor]aIntroduction[/anchor]Introduction The Tip.It staff are a group of very hardworking and dedicated volunteers. Each and every one of them shares one goal. This is to provide you with an enjoyable, informative, and safe experience during your stay both on our website and our forums. Our staff divides into three primary groups. Each group is equally vital in keeping Tip.It up and running. You can find more information on each below. [anchor]aStaffList[/anchor]Staff List [anchor]aAdministrator[/anchor]Administrator Lead by: @Silverion Administrators do most of their work behind the scenes and should be contacted if no moderators are online to assist you or if you have a significant issue with the forums or another staff member. Administrators: @MageUK - Forum and website coding / Server maintenance @Randox - Forum moderation @tripsis - TipIt. Monster Hunting Team @Silverion - Advertisement / Founder / Server maintenance @Xena_Dragon - CMS and website coding [anchor]aModerator[/anchor]Moderator Lead by: @Randox, @Stev The Moderating team is primarily in charge of keeping the Forum boards clean and tidy. Senior Moderators have the additional responsibility to place bans when necessary, including for spambots. The Moderator Leader has a similar role for the Moderator team as the Crew Leader does for Crew: to lead the team, consider and discuss policy changes, and assist with other administrative functions. Please report obstructive blogs, profiles, and posts to notify the moderating team, using the Report button found in the footer of the appropriate page or piece of content. If you have concerns about anything related to the forum that you would rather discuss in private or doesn't fit under the report system, feel free to PM one of the Moderators, or the Moderator Leaders for more serious issues. Remember that Moderators are your fellow community members and RuneScape players as well! Moderator Leader: @Stev Senior Moderator: @Leik Moderators: @Arceus @JeRambo @Miss Lioness @Steph [anchor]aWebsiteCrew[/anchor]Website Crew Lead by: @Arceus, @Stev The website team, known as the Crew, are responsible for updating and maintaining the Tip.It website. You should contact one of them for website related matters, such as fixes, improvements, and updates. The Crew Leaders are responsible for running the team, assigning tasks weekly, and keeping abreast of new content. They also code and design website plugins, calculators, and other tasks to keep things running smoothly under the hood. The Senior Crew also engage in coding and are responsible for approving and publishing more detailed content such as guides and calculators once it is ready for review and assisting with more administrative tasks, such as handling applications and decision making. The Website Crew also focus more on the coding side of things, processing submissions to our database and confirming them, and helping to transform information into readily accessible guides, calculators, and more! Research and gathering information is a key element to updating almost anything on Tip.It (we don't make this stuff up!) and that's where the Junior Crew come in - whether it's helping track down the stats of item retroactively changed or at the forefront of training methods and information from the latest update. Crew Leaders: @Arceus @Stev Senior Crew: @BloodAngel @Howlin0001 Website Crew: @Dudecrush8 @Omnitec @The Marquis Junior Crew: @doelling @ElysianWolf @INK @Teemupets @thumperjay [anchor]aGetToKnowTheStaff[/anchor]Get To Know The Staff For a bit more information on each staff member, including those of the Tip.It Monster Hunting Team, Editorial Panel, and a full list of retired staff, feel free to check out our Staff page on our main website or shoot us a PM to say hi!

If it is just for games and you're not going to college too soon, desktop. Cheaper, sometimes faster, easier to upgrade, etc. The portability of laptops is pleasing but in the end, if you're just looking for performance, get the desktop.

I think so, yes. I got it around April of 2005 - and it was released in late, late 2004. The general time progression when playing is getting to level 60, doing end-game raids to get items, PVP'ing, and more. However, after people have tried out a class for a certain amount of time or have completed all the "end-game" stuff that they want to, they reroll a new character. So you don't necessarily spend all your time on one character - but you do if it is your first one. Sometimes it is the wrong class or even the wrong faction (a lot of people reroll to try Horde if they were Alliance, or vice versa). It's a bit hard to explain overall though. When a new server opens up, a lot of people decide to reroll on the brand new hardware and start anew. Totally new people start out at as well. I've rerolled three or four times (and have two level 60s) and have always noticed new people playing, especially to this day. You may look into rolling on a new server for this reason. Everyone is starting out again. Or maybe you prefer to roll on an established server, one with a lot of level 60s who have been doing end-game stuff for awhile. Either way, you'll encounter people who have mastered the game. However, the game is organized in such a way that in either situation, you won't be overwhelmed or feeling like you are "left behind." There is a LOT to learn but you can get the hang of the basics fairly quickly. WoW is different than many other MMORPGs I've tried. Don't think of it as RuneScape. A friend of mine went in after playing a big skill-based MMORPG, got to level eight in the game (takes less than a day), and just went around mining. BORING! He quit in less than two days. You really have to come at this thing not with RuneScape or any other MMORPG in your head. A friend of mine who visits here rolled on Warcraft and learned the hard way that you can't take on three monsters the same level as you at the same time. ;) She loved the game and got used to it, but she did mention how different it was. Anyways, that's my advice. If you get it, Phil, go at it like you haven't played a MMORPG before. You can't judge it based on what RuneScape or SW:G is.
-
World of Warcraft. I've tried both and strongly disliked the Star Wars one (wow). My friend has done the same and is of the same opinion. World of Warcraft is an excellent game. If you decide to start playing it, you won't be disappointed. 5.5 million subscribers should be big enough for you. :D Also, I think World of Warcraft has the opportunity to be popular for a long time. SW:G, I think, is losing customers to WoW and other MMORPGs. Plus with the release of the first WoW expansion pack (Burning Crusade), there will always be more content for you. They release patches with new content once every two months or so, and have very good customer service. I say you can't go wrong with WoW.

In order to reduce clutter in this board, feel free to post some "funny" scams you have come across recently. Be mindful that there are a few rules for this sticky. - The "no names" rule is in effect. If you are going to post about a scam that you have encountered, do not use any names. All posts with names will be removed and the person warned. - Feel free to comment on each scam that is posted.. that is what the sticky is for. - Scam e-mails are not to be posted here. They should be sent in via account problem report or private message an admin. A majority of the scams going around are somewhat similar so if you do happen to see a scam already posted, don't post it again. Try to keep this thread as clean as you can. It was made to help make General a better place for discussion. Note: Due to the popularity/length of this thread, historical posts will be removed periodically.

Guys.. [See page 2 for computer build help?] - Going with PC
The_Sith replied to Ks_Jeppe's topic in Tech and Computers
I've had this computer since early 2004 (I think?) and I'm playing all the latest - World of Warcraft, Half-life 2, etc. I couldn't have a better time. I much prefer the PC to console gaming but I think it is different for every person. I've never liked controllers - I feel that I have more control, and customization, with a keyboard and mouse. *shrug* I think it's up to you, Jeppe. :D There are tons of positive reviews about the PS3 and x-box but I will never get one. A lot of the good games do come out for PC/x-box together and while some may not, there are tons of good games being released for PCs constantly. Good luck with the decision. -

Smithing. I hate smithing!! lol -
Actually no, this thread shouldn't be open either. If Microsoft decides to release the Beta or preview of MSN 8, then you may link to it from their site. However, as Runesmithie touched on, linking to other sites for a "sneak release" isn't allowed.
