Thank you very much for posting this, Yepi. It's great for the people who spend many hours working here to see "letters" of appreciation like this. It takes the combined effort of the staff and the wonderful users to turn out a community like this - and I can say I'm extremely happy to be a part of Tip.it and to have discovered it when I did. :)

Blizzard has released 12 patches full of new features and fixes. Their customer support system is amazing, especially the feature of Game Masters. I'm not saying other games do not have similar customer service but Blizzard has done a very good job of keeping the game up-to-date and pleasing its fan base (of what, 5.5+ million subscribers?). I personally think the expansion is worth it but if people have low opinions of the game (and company) to begin with, then of course they are going to have low opinions of the expansion pack. :) To each his own--still, don't let others influence you as much. Try it for yourself and come up with your own opinions. My opinion? (lol) Go with WoW. Just try it out. You can always come back to RuneScape. You aren't at a disadvantage. If you really can't stand WoW, most likely you'll have a lot of new content to come back and master in RuneScape. But I really do think you will enjoy WoW. It's a great game with a lot of content that takes a long time to experience. I played an Alliance mage to 60, did some end-game 60 stuff, then rerolled a Horde character. It was a completely different experience - new flight paths, new towns, zones, etc. The replay value of this game is very high - and if you aren't into that, there is a lot to do at 60 (and even more after the expansion). :) Someone posted about the system requirements and cost being high for WoW. That's completely true - it's something you have to accept if you are interested in the game. But I think it was worth it in the end. If you're interested in the community aspect of the game, I think Blizzard has added a lot of fun features making it very easy to interact with others--and have it be a positive experience! While you will come across some stinkers and "noobs," you will also make a lot of new friends and maybe join a guild. Good luck with your decision :)

Advertisements are not there for entertainment purposes but again, to supply income to run the Tip.it website and forums. If we move the advertisements to the bottom (of our VERY long forum!), they will get clicked even less, supplying Tip.it with less money. The point is to get people to click on them - not find ways to get less people to click on them. :P The services offered by Tip.it should surely be worth the "irritation" of dealing with a few obtrusive advertisements, eh?

I think having a small group of people who keep a thread up-to-date with market prices is a good idea. People constantly say, "Why don't you have an up-to-date price list?" It's a good idea however it may be one of those that sounds like fun when setting it up, but people quickly get bored with the tedious task of doing it. It'd be nice if people would be interested in doing such a thing but it seems like a job that would get tiring fast.

All done. Should be working as intended now. :)

I'll direct Silverion to this thread also. Thanks for the post. :)

Thread moved to H/A - everyone here is very knowledgable about the game. Feel free to ask all questions on this board from this point forward. :)

The story was lame but the combat was fun. I thought KOTOR was fine also but I like being in total control of my character (real-time, not planned). I don't think there's as much multiplayer action as there once was when it was first released but the single player is a lot of fun, and multiplayer skirmishes vs. bots are fun too. It's probably on sale somewhere for ten dollars so it is definitely worth it in my opinion.

More freedom for thread creators!

Almost all of that can be done by contacting a staff member - it is their job, after all, to clean up threads and deal with problem-users. Giving thread creators such "power" would probably just lead to abuse. -

Horde Paladins and Alliance Shamans - what do you think? (See main WoW site if you are clueless ;)) -
Sounds good to me. Gogogo, Albosky!

People should be able to delete their own posts

Reported for..? That's exactly why we do not give users this ability. If they post something such as scamming or a hack or something and get caught by a user, they'll just remove all evidence of that happening and continue using these forums. If you're talking about making a double post and a user reporting you, the staff knows not to take action against such things anyways. If you make a "mistake" when posting a thread, just use the report feature to let the staff know - we'll take care of it. -
New smiley. EDIT: 6 total now!

Part of the fun of starting out WoW is that everything is new--including talents. You will for sure be respeccing later and putting one point in the wrong talent won't kill you. Experiment! Sure, there are good talent builds that are specifically for leveling but sometimes it is great fun to make your own (and then on the time you reroll, then follow the cookie-cutter builds, lol). Meanwhile, I suggest asking about paladin builds here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board ... ow-paladin -
Wow! Looking good. 8-) 18, 26, and 27 are my favorites I think. 13 still is of the non-new ones. ;)

BlogScape A new board has been released in the RuneScape category entitled, "Blogscape." This is the new home of all journals, commentaries, and stories about your day-to-day RuneScape adventures. Please be sure to take a look at the stickies and board rules in BlogScape before rushing to post there. We'll be moving some of the current blogs/diaries into BlogScape but if we do happen to miss yours, private message a moderator about it. Please note especially the difference between Rate This and BlogScape. The stickies on the board explain more about this. Happy posting! The Tip.it Staff -
Kinda figured that. It is, though, kinda funny while you're doing that selection to walk by and see that funky title just hanging on someone. Although, having that title can give an idea of how much positive impact a person can give to the forums. If they're a "Chicken Feather" and yet they have an extreme positive impact, they may do EXTREMELY WELL working for you people! Did you ever think of this? :-k :| :? :) Of course - what you quoted was basically what I was getting at. :P We've added multiple moderators who have gone on to be fantastic staff members and have doubled or tripled their post count during that time. Whenever someone has asked about becoming a staff member, I mention post count is something that isn't taken into account (along with seniority) - and that still rings true today. (With the obvious exception of someone who has only posted ten times.. we need a bit more than that) And yup Anesthesia, those who donate automatically become staff. (Kidding, of course)
-
That's just it though - who cares what "rank" you have? Whenever staff are looking for possible people to nominate, we are not looking at whether or not they are a chicken feather or a ghost cloak..

Paladins don't have a fear - they have a stun, but not a fear. Priests have an AoE fear every 30 seconds (24 with talents, I think) and then Warlocks have a 1.5 second cast fear with no cooldown - but there is diminishing return on fear (and polymorph and other CCs). Diminishing return means if a polymorph lasts for 15 seconds in PvP, if you cast it right away on the same target, it may go down to 10 seconds - keep casting and eventually you they become immune to it for a short while. As far as starting areas go, I find Elwynn to be the most pleasant. I can see what Lionheart means about Teldrassil being the most "safe" but I don't care for the quests there and I don't care for the general layout of the area. I usually save the quests like "Go to Stormwind" for right when I'm about to level, when I have more than one, or if I need to go get my first professions. But when you first start WoW, things aren't as straightforward as that. In my case, once I got the hang of things at level 18 or so, I rerolled because I learned I did miss a lot of things (and I wanted to take in as much of the environment as possible). I think you may do the same - reroll once you have got the hang of how WoW works. I'm not saying that if you skip a level 6 quest and don't explore area X in Teldrassil, you'll be forever weakened in your WoWing--but for a freak like me, there are some parts of leveling/playing a character that need to be a certain way (for instance, I like exploring all parts of a zone before leaving it.. even if I didn't quest there. Bad brown unexplored areas!) Druids are an OK class to play but can be boring to level up. Sometimes they are a bit tricky and forms can be hard to master - I don't suggest them as a starting class. They're fun, sure.. but when transitioning from RuneScape to WoW, I recommend a pally or warrior - something that absorbs damage until you learn how to properly master the way the combat system in WoW works. :P Paladins do very little DPS but since their patch, they do a bit more. They're very hard to kill (plate armor, heals, shield) and have some excellent support abilities. They are wanted quite often as they can off-heal and then off-tank but to be honest, it's not my playstyle. I prefer plain DPS - no support. I have enough to worry about.. I don't want to help others. I did play a priest to 60 though... rofl. Anyways, it's up to you to find what playstyle you like. All classes have a role - don't assume that one class will be more wanted than another. You'll find your niche eventually. Anyways... best of luck to you and your questing in WoW. -
