  1. To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing this be tried at least once. I do agree that the staff is being worked very hard already but there are some ways around that. Those who wish to participate in this type of discussion will most likely want their threads to stay clean and flame-free, right? Aside from the fact that most users who post using numbers more than letters will avoid such a board, all the author has to do is report responses that he/she deems silly/childish. Viewing and dealing with reports as a moderator is quite simple so as long as people don't go overboard with the tool, it should work out alright... Simply place a few stickies on the board ensuring that people know it is a serious forum for discussion purposes only, and that authors sort of "manage" their own threads with Tip.it staff intervening when appropriate. Rather than have Staff manage the board and make sure people's threads stay neat and tidy, I think it should be up to the author - that way it feels more "debate-style" with the author as the mediator. And it saves the actual forum moderators some work.
  2. I can just picture that 'lightsaber kid' when talking about those movement-sensitive controls for console games.. that would be hilarious. I'm a bit disappointed that the game is console-only. I've wanted a replacement for Jedi Academy for a long time; even though it is somewhat new, it really didn't add that much fresh content to the game. I'd like to see something on a totally different engine, with more maneuverability and control. The game itself sounds pretty cool, focusing more around force powers than slashing up people. Sounds a bit lame, "lore" wise, though - sounds like the guy is nearly as powerful as the Emperor. Some apprentice that can force grip someone and then make them explode? The only person we saw do that (and the person didn't explode..) was Dooku, and he had been a Jedi for ~60 some years. Lore aside, I'd like to play it sometime. I still wish they'd release an FPS/RPG-type game for PC sometime, preferably with multiplayer content. I never had more fun in a game than in JK2 and Jedi Academy - force jumping with someone gripped and throwng them into a pit? What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon... [/nerd]
  3. That sounds pretty neat, actually. :) Do you know if it is very strenuous on the server?
  4. Dark Wizard Robe is 751-1000. Skeleton Shield is next.
  5. Paladin is still around 52 but now my friend has rolled a gnome warlock so I'm tempted to roll a Draenei priest. I like the healing aspect of a paladin (and survivability of course) but I miss some of the DPS bits.. especially being at range/casting. I'm so fickle! :P
  6. Sorry Sorry, but I still don't see the problem - if anything, I think the marketplace setup is easier for those who use lower resolutions. The actual link to go to the specific board IS smaller but the links to all of the different market boards are on one 'line' instead of 7-8 lines. So rather than wasting time scrolling down, just take an extra second or two to slow down and click the proper subforum. The board titles are descriptive enough so there should be zero complications.
  7. Outland rocks, pure and simple. Plus there is nothing like entering the portal after being in Azeroth for SO LONG - it hasn't gotten old yet. Currently 52 on my BE pally (got IBS yesterday at 51.. sweet!).
  8. I agree. Tip.it Staff pay attention to user requests/complaints - but they can't properly acknowledge people's ideas if you don't express them properly. What exactly is so bad about the current setup? Is it just that it is different than you are used to? If so, you'll get used to it in time and realize it probably takes less time to browse than it used to. If it's something else that hasn't been mentioned, I'm sure people would want to hear about it.
  9. Yeah, only staff get custom ranks per request. However, we used to have custom rank contests so "normal" users could get a rank... should bring those back. ;)
  10. Think someone will lock this soon but it has been added to the blacklist also. :) No harm done, Ice! Keep posting ideas.
  11. I suppose it has to go along with RuneScape things, except I have no idea what the higher level monsters are these days. I looked it up on the bestiary and I can barely pronounce them. How about... Kalphite Queen Vanquisher?
  12. Yeah, the max rank ends at 5001. So one for 7501 and then 10001? I'm all for it. What should they be?
  13. If you can't decide, play each class to 20-25 or so. Not only do you learn all the zones/style of things but then you find the class that best suits you. It may be something you least expect. ;)
  14. All I recommend you do (if you get WoW) is approach the game like you haven't played RuneScape or any other MMO before. I've 'converted' a few friends to WoW but I haven't had any luck with some, only because they are so used to RuneScape or another MMO that when I describe WoW, they say, "Why is XXXX like that?!?! In RuneScape, it is...". You simply cannot compare two games that way; you either like it after playing it, or don't. So just have an open mind and realize that the game is COMPLETELY different from RuneScape. I saw a post where someone was grinding up levels in the starting zone - nuh-uh, do quests! Take the time to learn the game, explore the zones, and just have fun. There's all this pressure on new users to learn the game quickly and reach the highest level. If you find that fun, go ahead - but otherwise, take it slow and go at your own pace. Play the race/class/character you want to play and experiment a little. Don't let other people's pressures force you to do something you don't want to do; let that happen at END-game.
  15. Coincidence that the warlock had to go after getting all his feathers for his class quest (just need to kill the six undeads)? I don't think so. ;) Really dislike when that happens.
  16. Grats on level 58. You'll find questing much easier - and the group quests that do exist, you can often save to the end... some you can even solo. Don't be afraid to try! There's a thread on WoW General (US) regarding reviewing leveling 1-58, especially levels 35-49ish. I think Blizzard is focusing a bit too much on end game. They mustn't forget that many people like to reroll OR there are just new people starting the game as Blood Elf/Draenei or one of the original races. Having to put up with Azeroth leveling after experiencing Outland will make you go crazy. I think the largest number of alts that aren't being used are in the 35-50 range... where leveling involves flying from one zone to another to complete ONE yellow quest. :/
  17. New levitate animation for Trolls, Humans, Draenei, and Blood Elfs - no love for UD/NE yet. :( http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/157/levitatebf2.jpg
  18. Nifty Stopwatch - Badlands quest chain. Starts with: Coolant Heads Prevail Gyro... What? Study of the Elements: Rock Then This is Going to Be Hard
  19. What's a good weapon for a level 40 ret pally? Didn't get Ravager - should I still try for it? Didn't get Mograine's Might either. Both have a lower drop rate compared to the other drops and have run both Arm and Cath many, many times. Maybe I should just buy a slow green of the Bear 2H until.. what? Help! I'm using Sword of Omen + Aegis of the Scarlet Commander now. Nice defense but for a ret pally, poor DPS. =[
  20. WoW is not at all like RuneScape - 99.9999% of leveling 1-70 (max level) is done via questing and some instancing. You can level 1-70 just by questing alone. No grinding! Stop killing those bears over and over and start questing. ;) Especially as a new player, it's fun to see all the zones, get new flight paths, better loot, etc. etc.
  21. I wear the soft kind (http://www.acuvue.com/acuvue_oasys.htm) and have been for the past four years. I don't have a problem with them at all. These are bi-weekly disposables and I wear them from about 8 in the morning until midnight. After awhile, I didn't even notice I was wearing anything. I love having full range of vision (out the sides as compared to glasses) and not having to worry about them falling off if I run, or bend down, etc. It took me a solid month or more to be able to put them in and out easily - but after that, it's a cakewalk. I wouldn't live without them (unless I get laser surgery, or something).
  22. Heh yeah, Area 52 (and all of Netherstorm) rocks. Those eco-domes are pretty cool. I'd say Netherstorm ranks up there for me, second to Zangarmarsh (which a lot of people hate!). Blade's Edge Mountains is still the worst zone for me - despite the graveyard additions in Patch 2.1 and the recent hotfix that sends your ghost to a closer graveyard.
  23. People like having the old threads there for reference sake. The biggest complaint about the "move" from ScapeBoard to our own server, away from DK3, was that we didn't get to keep the database with thousands of old threads and references. The Staff prune the boards that people don't really care about in regards to nostalgia. The rest are left with their histories so people can look up old threads. I see the archives as more of a positive thing than a negative - and if they were really that draining on the server and its bandwith, then they wouldn't be there now.
  24. Anyone over level 10 is in the armory - there's no escaping it! No lying about your characters anymore... mwahaha. Also, the T6 warlock "wings" only appear when you put on the final piece (I think - either that, or the helmet). Pretty sweet.
