  1. Sounds like he's bypassing the original "system" of the PS2, which is to play games off a disc and save personalized "checkpoints" on a memory card (or something). Saving the entire game and making it so you no longer need the game anymore (and thus can return it or resell it) is the same thing as buying software, copying it, and returning it. At my part-time job, we don't accept software back once it has been opened for this very reason. I'm guessing this rule applies to games as well. I don't know the legal stance on it though.
  2. Just sold http://www.thottbot.com/i32658 for 700G. It says average 2K on thott.. same with Alla. But I put it on the AH many times for 1.5 and advertised in chat until my macro button was broken and no one was wanting to buy it. So I sold it for a bit less. At 4K gold on my warlock now (no epic flying yet) but I haven't been doing the dailies else I'd be at 5.2K easily. This is my human warlock and I keep going back to my BE warlock (39 - almost 40) or my BE priest (just started - 11). Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.
  3. I went fire until 50 then respecced. I regretted it to be honest. With fire, I could solo ANY elite Azeroth quest - including the giant that walks the Stranglethorn Vale coast. It was awesome. Frost is fun with the added survivability but I miss seeing the big numbers and losing Ignite was sad as well.
  4. I think this has to do with the search's indexing. The search index was being rebuilt by Albosky (a very lengthy process) but it was uninterrupted due to unforeseen technical problems. We're going to switch to Olympus soon after it is released and from there, work on the search and other things if it still needs it.
  5. You've abandoned your Blood Elf hunter?! Let me know how the druid works out. Got one to forty awhile back.
  6. Rocking back and forth between my Blood Elf warlock and starting a Blood Elf shadowpriest. Definitely sticking to Blood Elf though. The other races just pale in comparison - not just looks but lore, capital city, Scryers, etc.
  7. All I can suggest is look at WoW as something totally different from RuneScape. Don't start grinding (killing monsters over and over) and make comparisons to RuneScape - it just isn't the same. The game has a built-in tutorial service. Take it easy, absorb the beautiful environment, and level at your own pace. There isn't a gigantic race to get to 70. You'll most likely dump your first character anyway after you've learned the mechanics.
  8. Yeah.. So far I have to say, 1-10 as a Blood Elf is so fricking sweet. For addons, I use: AtlasLoot - check loot I will never have Atlas - Instance maps (handy) FastQuest Classic - As I said in a previous post, godly for quest freaks like me. KLH Threat Meter SWStats - Damage meters Titan Panel X-perl Unit Frames - drool http://wow.curse.com/
  9. Haha, nice one. Haven't seen that one before.
  10. Reading posts here and on the official forums, it really makes me see clearly the different type of players in the game. There are many who are complaining about the expansion because their gear will become useless - and the Outland instances will become pointless. I'm more excited about the expansion because of the new content, new spells, new lore, etc. I play WoW to absorb the content and experience things from different sides (rerolling Horde and Alliance). Even though I do have one 70 I'm playing now, I'm not concerned about gear really. Having a lot of phat lewt would be nice but I'm more interested in having new places to level (there are many who hate questing in new zones just because they don't know the questing areas), seeing old zones revamped, etc. More new content agogo!
  11. You are questing, right? Not grinding? >.> I've learned a few tricks with my alts. The first is - quests that are five levels below you give the same amount of XP as the quest does when it is two levels *above* you. If that makes sense. So if I'm level 35, I can do level 30 quests (green) and they give me the same amount of XP they would normally if I was level 30-32 (yellow). The past two 60+s I've leveled, I used this method. Before, I avoided green quests at all costs and only did yellow quests - sometimes ones that were two levels above me. If you do that method, you'll run out of quests eventually and have orange quests to do at some point. The trick is to use Thottbot's Find Quests search. If you're level 20, find quests - level FIFTEEN and do all of them. When you hit 21, do level 16 quests. Rinse and repeat. Once you are six levels above a quest, you start to lose XP. This is a great method as you can skip virtually all instances, can solo all parts of it (since the mobs are five levels below you - especially nice for melee classes working on weapon skill), and will NEVER run out of quests. In fact, you'll probably have more than is needed. The trick is to do them all though.. you really shouldn't skip entire zones or quest hubs. Grab FastQuest Classic - it shows you the level of the quests in your quest log. Use this method - trust me, it's a lot easier and by the time you're 58, you can head straight to Outland, skipping the "bad zones" such as Silithus, Winterspring, EPL, etc.
  12. The book has only been out for two days - just relax and keep "hiding" the spoilers please. Don't need to ruin people's experience even if they are reading this. ----- So is J.K. Rowling going to make an "encyclopedia" of sorts about the characters?
  13. Stop asking about Vmser because you are not getting an answer. We do not release the full private details of people who left staff because it isn't any of your business - it is only of importance to the ex-staff member and the current staff. Phil and tripsis pretty much said it but I want to add on as well. The requirement for staff to be playing classic in order to moderate the board is silly - there's no reason for that 'rule' to ever come into existence. All of the moderators who look over the RSC board are doing a fine job and are always impartial. If you ever want to ask SPECIFIC questions about a staff action, you may do so via private message to an administrator. I'm guessing this post was sparked because someone's thread was locked today - the one I'm looking at is full of total garbage. It doesn't matter what game you play.. the staff will not tolerate that type of content on these boards. Playing a certain game doesn't give you immunity to any of our rules here. Period. But go on, continue thinking that we don't understand you or that we are all incapable of moderating the boards we have created. The only goal right now that the staff has is to create a family-friendly environment in which everyone can have a good time. Threads like these that call staff members incompetent and topics like the two that were recently locked in RSC do exactly the opposite. Which is why all three are now locked. EDIT: This may have seemed a bit harsh but topics that accuse our volunteer staff of being anything but helpful and good-tempered without any evidence do not sit well with me. I'm always open to messages about how to improve the forums. If the subject is regarding staff, again, private message someone - it doesn't have to be me but it shouldn't be posted on the public boards.
  14. Yeah. I started on my warlock again at level 44 awhile back and I only had.. 60 some odd gold. I had to borrow some at 62 to get my epic ground mount. I had repaid that by 63. By the time I was 70, I bought my regular flying and hadn't touched Netherstorm or SMV and still had 1k left. And I didn't touch the AH (and I sold all the greens to vendor - probably could have AHed some). You should have many non-group quests left if you do not have 1000G. Maybe check thottbot to see if you've covered everything.
  15. Finish all quests everywhere - including instance quests. Should have it very soon. Stop buying things from the AH. :P
  16. I too plowed through it yesterday. Was awesome. [hide]I think the first two deaths were the worst for me - something about Mad Eye (especially after listening to the 5th and 6th on audio) made me warm up to him more. Hedwig too... I really like how all the loose ends were tied up. I was always hopeful that we would somehow see Dumbledore outside of 'King's Cross' (the blue eyes) but was pleasantly surprised to see his brother, Aberforth, enter the story. I thought the epilogue was fine - it was short but I don't think it needed to be any longer than it was. It gave us just enough to let our imaginations fill in the rest.[/hide]
  17. Went back to my warlock... and sticking to it for AWHILE! Darn fickle self. I'm at 2.5k/5.2k... can't wait until I get epic flying. I'm doing 5 daily quests (since I can't do Netherwing) - two at Skettis, three at Ogri'la/BEM Skyguard. I just have to run Durn for the first time now and then BM - then I'll be Elixir Master and be attuned for Kara. Profile: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/chara ... n=Thelmara Mind you, I recently just came back to this character so the gear isn't great. Going to buy veteran's dreadweave belt soon and maybe get A2 shoulders once I get 1.5k points (at 300 + this week's). I need to replace shoulders and legs the most though. Have to get 600 damage before Kara.
  18. I dunno. I wouldn't really base your opinion on the class on your first few games in wsg. Play what you find to be fun and you will learn to make it work in whatever battleground you play. A low level battleground is not the place to decide what you want to play, IMO. Even though gear matching has been introduced, twinks still make the game frustrating. And quitting a class because you have poor gear doesn't make sense either. Hang in there - you'll get better gear. If you have Burning Crusade, to heck what gear you have 1-60. Once you hit outland, everything is replaced (except in the rare cases of those who raided heavily pre-BC). Don't decide on class AND race based on what other people say. Even though a lot of people hate blood elves, I find the race to be the most visually appealing and have the most interesting lore. Their zones rock, their capital city is the best, they look great in cloth (only classes I play), etc. I'm having trouble sticking with my current 70 lock because it is human.. in comparison to BE, they are terrible. Anyways, what I mean is this: you decide what you want to play. And don't make the decision based on gear. That is replaced very quickly.
  19. We only keep it that way because you're a Night Elf.
  20. I thought it was great as well. So as to protect people who haven't seen it: [hide]I thought Bellatrix Lestrange was great as well. Me being nitpicky here - wasn't it NOT the killing curse that she shot at Sirius and rather just a spell that knocked him back? Sirius' death was rushed. To build on that part, I thought the movie should have been a bit longer. 2hrs15mins is quite short for what had to be in it. I would have been satisfied with a movie close to 3 hours, even though that is quite long. I think Michael Gambon has a great feel about him but I don't think he's right for Dumbledore. I can't get over the difference between Harris' Dumbledore and Gambon's. Even in the smallest moments, you can tell A.D. cares about Harry greatly (the sorting hat in the first movie, the end, etc. etc.). In the movies 3-5, he mentions only once or twice how much he cares about Harry - probably that last talk in Dumbledore's office in #5 was the most he ever mentioned. The scene where Dumbledore flees from the Minister, Dawlish, etc. - he has a brief talk after knocking them all out with Harry and McGonagall. Another example of where cutting out that "personal" part of Dumbledore hurts his overall image, IMO. I just think that this sort of tough-guy, no crap Dumbledore won't really be right for the sixth movie where Dumbledore REALLY needs to show emotion towards Harry. I do like Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore setting aside that part though... Dementors - I always thought they looked a bit odd in 3 and 5. Their faces were too well defined, their "mouths" too visible. A lot of negative comments but overall, I really did like it. I love having a visual portrayal of the series, even if certain parts are adjusted or shortened for time purposes.[/hide]
