Best bet is to PM an admin/mod: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=436871 And yep, it is funny. =P

Yeah, I enjoy dark weather really - overcast all day, rainy.. all good to me. I don't care for bright, hot, sunny days. So it makes sense that I'm living in southern California.
-
Side note - Force Unleashed looks good but why limited to consoles? I've been waiting for a new single/multiplayer PC Jedi Knight replacement for ages.

That would be sweet. Was never interested in the SWG MMORPG but this one sounds interesting and like it could succeed as an MMO if planned correctly.

Not that you necessarily want the opinion of a WoW'er but I do the same thing in World of Warcraft. I suffer from a severe case of the "grass is greener" syndrome and also a moderate-severe case of "rerollitis." But mostly, it is for stupid reasons - liking one race over another, one faction over another, one class over another at that time. Once I decide to play class/faction/race X, the complete opposite suddenly looks intriguing. I am the epitome of fickleness!

I think a lot of the problems stem from people who think it is their right to have the forum exactly the way they want it to be. "Please make a new sticky/board/forum because there are two threads about Star Wars on page one of Off-Topic - I can't read any other threads besides Star Wars threads!" IMO, I would remove all "post X here" threads. The idea is good for organization's sake but this forum shouldn't be 100% based on organization - this is a gaming forum; not one for business discussions. People have the ability to sift through threads that don't interest them. They certainly can't expect to be entertained by each and every thread that is posted here so there will ALWAYS be some "selection" involved. The creation of so many mass stickies (which are completely pointless - why would anyone read through 100 pages of links to some video site?) and separate boards (which just strains the activity more) just harms the boards. But as Devoted said, for the Staff, no matter what is done, it is a lose/lose situation. If they act on a new idea, people will complain. If they keep things the way they are, people will complain. You pretty much have to ignore what people are saying and do what you feel is right for the forum. Then ignore the users until they are quiet. In my mind, I compare this forum frequently to the WoW official forums. Is this a good idea? Probably not. But the overall basis for the WoW forums is something that has kept me visiting there on a high frequency for much longer than I have visited here. So naturally, being that I enjoy spending time at Tip.it too, I want Tip.it to become more like WoW forums (and other community discussion boards). I'm not bashing Tip.it - I'm just making a comparison. When I was on the Staff at the end, I did try to mold the forums a bit into a more WoW-like system. Less boards, more concentrated discussions, less locking, more leniency. Ideally, I would think that forum "natural selection" would provide people with the interesting topics they desire. If you have more activity concentrated on one board, topics that are interesting and original are kept bumped by posters; those that suck and are stupid are left to die. This type of thing cannot be done overnight but overall, I think it would be beneficial to the boards if something like this emerged. Still, talking about these types of changes and actually pushing them through and having them succeed are two different things. Right now, a large portion of the community is used to a certain style. Many people say they are for change but once those changes approach and things aren't exactly like they pictured, they complain. People don't understand that it takes time for large changes to change/adjust into something better. If people would leave well enough alone and stop reporting every other thread just because they don't agree with its placement, the forum would improve on its own. But some people enter this community with the sole idea of bettering the community by "wannabe-modding" it and disrupting people's browsing. So I'm not sure what should be done really. Even though I've left the staff, I've continued to think about what could be done to improve the forum. No concrete ideas have entered my mind. Removing the stickies, encouraging moderation through topic "natural selection," and otherwise, having less disciplinary interaction with the forums sounds good on paper but executing these radical changes would require everyone to change their idea of what Tip.it should be like. And I don't see that happening easily, if at all.

To me it makes sense, even if it wasn't explicitly explained in the book. I think there is a lot of information about the characters we do not know and just because she decided not to bring Dumbledore's sexuality into play (how would that work, anyways?), doesn't makes it less of a possibility. I hope she continues expanding on the characters like this - I find it very interesting. :)

Yeah, that's what really struck me about Outland. I guess it isn't so much "easy" as it is nice having everything in one place and getting usable rewards. Plus the environment is so great and makes so much sense. You can really tell how much Blizzard has progressed development wise. I remember reading somewhere that they said when they first created zones like Elwynn/Westfall, they could only efficiently program killing quests - Kill ten of these, collect ten of that. With Outland, it's totally different. While there are enough killing quests, there's a bit more variety. Same with some of the newer Azeroth content. I was fairly underwhelmed by the Dustwallow Marsh changes. Most of the adjustments seem to be Alliance based. There are quite a few neutral quest additions but the entire Missing Diplomat/King Wynn questline was continued along with some other quests regarding that Black Inn, etc. The Horde didn't really get anything like that. To be fair, they do have more quests pre-2.3 than Theramore. Other than the neutral quests, Mudsprocket is quite small and doesn't have many quests. I'm not sure what I was picturing really - the changes are definitely noticeable and welcome but I was hoping they'd go a bit further somehow. I just hope they target Azshara next. I'd like to see more Draenei/Blood Elf outposts throughout Azeroth.

Yep, what Azvy said. However, I'd recommend trying to download the 10-day trial from the net. The 14.99 you pay is for the key to create an account--not for the actual game software. So I'd recommend just downloading it (it's quite large) and trying it out for 10-days that way. The reason I say this is because I recall reading somewhere that they are releasing a WoW battlechest with the Burning Crusade inside... for a discounted rate. So that way if you decide to stick with it, you can get the expansion and the original game for a discounted rate. Rather than buying the expansion for a higher price later on... if that makes sense. :)

Flight path in northern STV/Rebel Camp for Alliance in 2.3. Geez, that only took what... two and a half years?

Sweet.

2.2.2 to be released next week (by October 3rd). 2.3 notes: http://boards.worldofraids.com/topic-7593-1.html Still waiting to hear on pre-BC/Azeroth changes.
-
I wouldn't mind a weekly, original poll and discussion posted on the General board. I don't think mimicking what Jagex does is a good idea though.
-
Yay. I'm rolling a Draenei shaman. Already created and waiting..
-
Yeah, maybe so. Are you Horde? They have it much easier in the 40-50 range. I remember searching the level 44 quest bracket for Alliance and coming up with like five results, lol. I wouldn't grind up five levels - maybe three with a combination of Zul'Farrak and Uldaman runs if you can. If not, I wouldn't stress out about it. It's completely possible to do it the "normal way" and be a bit ahead of quests - it's just that you tend to run out of yellow quests in some ranges. That or you end up doing really crappy zones at end-game.

Second link didn't work there. Here's what I have now: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IVMrVRfkqtbo Rounding off with: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IVMriRfkqtbobxZxx0z at 70. Anyways, the three siphon lifes (with spell damage) heal you for most of the damage. The drain life makes up for the rest. It doesn't get interrupted as often as you think. Sometimes you have some bad luck streaks but other than that, it's fine. If you have enough spell damage, you will only have time for around two drain lifes on the mob with the most health at that time (mob three). Yes, use imp - mana battery only. You are the tank when you spec affliction, not the void. If you have enough spell damage, he can't hold aggro for crap anyways, lol. All of this is wonderfully easier if you stick with leveling through green quests. Once you have Fast Quest classic, you pair that with Thottbot and only level by doing quests five levels below you (they give the same XP as if they were two levels above you... and the mobs are easy to kill). Shouldn't run out at all and can leave Azeroth before tackling some of the higher level crappy zones. Still, people who don't use this method and instead just quest through a zone in one sitting or only do yellow/orange quests are able to use the drain-tanking method - it's just a bit harder.

The thing I did for my BE warlock was basically collect spell damage - currently sitting at... 174 +shadow at level 55. I was skeptical about the Affliction leveling at first. I had originally leveled as affliction but I think I used voidwalker. This time around, I used imp as a mana battery only. Leveling method: Find mob 1: Cast CoA, Siphon Life, Corruption Mob 2: Same. Mob 3: Same. Drain life on Mob 3/2. Mob 1 dies, drain life on mob 2/3. Life tap once during this. Use Dark Pact post-40. Infinite mana, always at 100% health, and taking on three mobs at once. That being said, I don't see it working too well if you are just collecting stam/int gear. Pre-Outland, stamina means nothing - intellect as a warlock also means very little. +dmg all the way. Having tailoring helps a bit as one can get Robe of Power then Shadoweave pieces.

Well the 2.2.2 PTR is here and 2.2 is going to be released Tuesday, the 25th (confirmed by Neth on US Forums). The 2.2.2 PTR includes the Brewfest, a new event that has some ram racing and other fun things and then the Hallow's End event to test (be added later I think, includes the headless horseman!). Also on 2.2.2: That should be very handy. No mention of Coilfang or any other graveyards but I'm glad they're helping out Azeroth in that department.

This thread wins.

Nice, uldric. :) I've always wanted to see that phoenix mount. 2.2 PTR has been taken down! That most likely means it is coming out this Tuesday. Hopefully we get info about 2.3 soon after...

I don't see the point in splitting up a board whose first page spans two days. If it spanned a six hour period, then I think a split would be in order. Otherwise, if you're just trying to move topics that don't interest you, everyone has to deal with that on each of the boards. If the Staff created a subforum for each type of topic, the activity on that "board" (subforums included) would decrease.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=77642 Hope that helps.

Well if you wait for patch 2.3 (Zul'Aman patch), they're releasing Dustwallow Marsh updates including more quests to Brackenwall, Theramore, and a new goblin town. A lot of new quests it sounds like. And this helps that 35-45 bracket which really sucks, lol. Jeff Kaplan mentioned this but he also mentioned the increase in quest XP... still, not sure if that comes out also in 2.3 or not.
-
I think that Lake Wintergrasp, a pure PVP zone, will help a lot will PVP. The way Tigole/Jeff Kaplan described it makes it sound like it isn't Halaa in Nagrand - rather, there are many opportunities in the zone to fight against the opposite faction. Missions/quests to complete, destructible buildings, different objectives and things to do - not just one city with one goal. Supposedly they're adding a new BG soon too (Azshara Crater?) and they're adjusting Alterac Valley to make it a bit better. It should help a bit but maybe not too much with the fact that AV is mostly a PVE battleground. I think it will still be that in the big picture but at least it will be balanced and have more of an incentive to win, rather than cave camp.

I would stay in Azeroth until 60 for sure if you can bear it. Use the "green quest" leveling method... seriously. I've hit 58 without touching EPL, most of WPL, Silithus, Winterspring, and Burning Steppes. Level your alt by doing all quests five levels below your level - should ding next level. Rinse repeat. i.e. Do quests that are level 35 if you are level 40. For MOST level ranges, this works just fine. For level 42 quests (as an example), it isn't so great. Luckily you are 47 which is the best time to do Zul'Farrak. Once you hit 58 and have all those zones left, it is a cakewalk to 60.. and you promise yourself a lot of money by the time you hit 70. Can't wait until they bring out some more information about 2.3, which I presume after reading some blue posts is the patch that contains the leveling adjustment and Dustwallow Marsh additions. If people have problems getting to 60 after THAT patch, they (the players) need to seriously rework how they level in the game. ;)
