Hunter/warlock pets despawn when mounting - and then respawn when demount. Nice. But paladin illumination nerf. :( At least they'll STILL be wanted over priests.. lol

Thanks Nad :D

Good ideas, both of you - thanks! What weapons should I go for around level 32? I figure nothing and then just grab Sword of Omen + Aegis of the Scarlet Commander once I complete SM Cath. I do not want to go prot/aoe spec though - I want to quest normally, not grind. So should I work on getting a better 2H then rather than a 1H + shield?
-
What's the best way to level up one's weapon skill? I have a 31 pally now and recently received a pretty good 2H mace. I got up to 141/155 (my polearm was at 152 which was what I was using) and decided to level up the rest doing the "Hammer May Fall" .. except I could barely hit the Ogres. I'm struggling to get past 145 now. Any ideas?

You know that server I transfered to? Well I went there to be with my two RL friends and now the entire guild is transfering to a new server, which would allow them to be one of the top guilds ever (if they merge.. or something). And I just shelled out 25 bucks. I'm not going to do it again. Kinda sucks because I really enjoyed playing with my two friends. Not sure what I'll do now. :(

The problem with looking at the staff situation to determine why something happened would be fine if the incident occurred one time only - but it didn't. There were quite a few and they affected many staff members, all at different times. This is not to say that one of the incidents could have been something personal and not a predator looking for a target--but how do we know that? The truth is, we will never know the reasons behind the incidents that the staff--and users (which I won't get into)--have faced. The reason I am being so cryptic is because it is a delicate issue that brings up many bad memories for people who still browse this forum (on and off the staff). I'm not witholding any information just to better support the blanket rule that exists on Tip.it regarding pictures. I'm simply trying to protect people and relay the dangers of sharing too much information to those who are fortunate enough to have not experienced similar problems. Just because other communities have not had problems (and how anyone really knows that for sure, I don't know) doesn't mean something still can't happen. Setting up certain guidelines and screening users to be a part of a private forum seems like way too much of a hassle just to accomplish this one thing. I'm not sure why people are so invested in it. I've already stated that post count proves nothing, nor does history or post style. So if we are to rely on pictures alone, they can either be faked or just a picture of someone innocent looking who actually isn't! A lot of this may seem paranoid. But if you actually did end up being confronted with a bad situation in which it is not easy to get out, you just may reconsider advocating to thousands of users that they post up pictures of themselves. Nothing like this will be going into effect, so everyone should stop having high hopes about it. As far as examples go, I still don't understand why they are needed - but some of the situations involved individuals' property being vandalized and actual threats made against them and their family. That's all I'm willing to say about it. I don't like to be so antagonistic regarding an issue that seems so simple but people still don't seem to grasp the severity of posting private information on the internet. People go around willy-nilly posting up details about their private lives and then they are shocked when a stranger approaches them on the street and recognizes them from the internet. You have to be careful. If you feel comfortable about the risk, that's fine - but don't impose it on others. That's one thing the Admins can control on this board: the risk presented to the users. They try to minimize it as much as possible. Whether or not you agree with that stance is again up to you, but that is how this site is run and it doesn't seem to have hindered its growth in any way.
-
The fact is it happened - more than once. Why is that not enough for you? The Admin team has YOUR best interests at heart. They aren't doing this on purpose just so they can spite the users. As I said, trust that they're doing the right thing - you can do that without knowing all the personal details that people have trouble relating to even their closest friends. How exactly does wanting to protect other people seem irrational? Sheesh.
-
If I may: to build on the Admin team's response in regard to the above idea, what is to stop child predators from joining such groups just to get access to the pictures? Having a usergroup that is solely for the trading of pictures--or other personal information--just calls out to the wrong people. There isn't any way to screen online 'strangers' besides their post history.. and that hardly proves anything. The Admin Team is not being paranoid in their decision; they're basing their judgement on previous experiences, most of which pervade throughout the Admin Team itself. I know of some of the details regarding the consequences about releasing too much private information on an online community like this - they were related to me by my previous "co-workers" here at Tip.it. I can safely say that it is in everyone's BEST interests to not allow the posting of RL pictures here. I was actually for it when I investigated it awhile ago but after hearing people's accounts of certain experiences (of which I had none to relate), I realized it would be better to just disalllow them. I'm sure it isn't the answer the entire thread was looking for but I'm all for being safe rather than sorry. I'm sure there are other smaller, private communities that allow the trading of real life pictures where people actually KNOW the user on the other side of the computer - and I think that to be the best alternative at this point. Hopefully I didn't overstep my boundaries in this post but trust the Admin team on this one guys!

Nice one, Azvareth. Yeah, the gear in Outlands is great - I can't complain though since my current main didn't have any Tier 1/2/3 when I started playing it. As far as zones go, I like most of them. I really disliked Blade's Edge Mountains. Those stealthed spiders had the most annoying sounds ever. And I disliked the layout a lot. After that, I went to Netherstorm which I really liked. I love those eco-domes! And Zangarmarsh has a nice feel to it also, although most people I know hate the zone. Just finished a couple quests for Kara attunement. Then I'm going to grab the SH key, Arcatraz key, Master Elixir quest, and then SLab to finish off Karazhan attunement. I haven't ever really played any WoW end-game so it should be fun. :)

I came here to read some juicy confessions and all I get is more religious debate. Darn! Onto the next thread.. Oh and no, I don't have anything to confess. O:)

If you're serious about leveling the character up, what I did/do is go to Thottbot.com > Find Quests > Quest Level (*not* obtained) 38-42 - so no matter what you do, it's yellow. Just keep doing this as you progress and make sure you've done all in the range (can skip some of course). This made it seem a bit better than it actually was, as that level range is really terrible for questing. At least this way you know what to expect and what you can do next.

Dinged 70 last night - flying is fun! :P

When the Half-blood Prince came out, I foolishly read a sticky on this board (pre-spoiler title edit) and found out what happens to... a main character in the book. I won't be looking at the internet at all until I finish reading it this time. ;)

Cheers to the Tip.it Staff. Great April Fool's joke!

You don't need to be overdramatic over this April fool's joke. If you do not wish to browse here anymore because people have a sense of humor, simply press log out and remove the site from your bookmarks.

The fewer restrictions Tip.it has on post-styles the better, IMO. I don't think we need to introduce a bevy of new rules just to cover a handful of incidents that may have annoyed a small group of users. -
And on the note of taking it easy - ding, 67.

Nice, Krunk. I'll post mine when I have time but it isn't very interesting. What I have: AtlasLoot Enhanced X-perl TitanPanel and I think that's it. I just joined a RL friend's raid guild so working towards 70 on my lock (65 now) - any recommendations? I tried Necrosis for the timers but whenever I pressed the "eye"/active spells on target, my target would appear in the middle of the screen (and also in its normal place, next to my "avatar/image" at the top of the screen). I couldn't figure out how to make that go away so I got rid of it. One thing I would like to investigate is something that changes my action bars. I have all of them taken up and it is a real mess. Any suggestions on the bars.. or anything else?

Rofl, so true. My friend and I used to have a blast with that guy. "Fresh meat!" Haha - that was awesome.

Dinged 58 last night after some insane playing. In Outland now - going to take it easy. Have a midterm tomorrow.

Star Wars games (surprise) - especially Jedi Academy, KOTOR, and Empire at War. Also Rebellion if anyone remembers it and JK2.

Probably to distinguish it from mod(erator). Either way, I wouldn't split hairs. I understand your concern, Skate - but I do find it better to type things in a separate word/notepad (or Microsoft Word). Since that alternative is available, I think the Admins would avoid installing the MOD just to avoid adding any more strain to the server. That being said, if it doesn't add strain, it may be a good idea to have a large field for typing longer posts - maybe a "review" setting or something that only enlarges the field when you want to proof something? There IS the preview function though..
