  1. Little Cream Soda - The White Stripes
  2. I always thought there was definitely something special about The Lion King
  3. Back In The U.S.S.R. - The Beatles
  4. Moved to Questionnaires, probably where it's best suited
  5. It's also possible that all measurements are discrete (not continuous) at the Planck scale, so things really do have to 'touch' simply because you can't keep dividing ad infinatum.
  6. B1 - Soundhack From a mixtape done by Hot Chip, really good stuff.
  7. Last Flowers To The Hospital is just beautiful :)
  8. Aha, more fool me then. Sorry, I was assuming you were being contrary to start a debate. * * :P
  9. Silent Signs - DeYarmond Edison Quite obscure stuff, it's Bon Iver's old band, but it's a beautifully dark and mellow album, this song particularly has something special about it.
  10. Making you cry because everyone has more music than you (somehow I doubt) or because it's a pointless thread where people show how much music they have stolen? I think that the downloaders have got a lot more music than me, but I don't mind that. It just makes me sad when someone asks for a 'music collection' everybody just post a screenshot of their music folder on the computer. What kind of a collection is that. :| I agree actually, I just find it unfeasible to be able to type out hundreds of albums and artists by hand. If there was a way to generate a list of albums/artists from iTunes i'd find that much more interesting. But at the moment this is just a downloading contest where quantity, not quality, seems to be king.
  11. The mathematical theory of an infinite series converging on a finite value does not apply to the real, quantum world (as far as we know), so cannot be extrapolated to this example. The precise mathematical/physical definition of what constitutes "touching" at the quantum level is probably not defined well enough for you to use everyday examples as analogies, but whatever does happen down there it must be how we define "touch" because otherwise there would be no reaction. In short, the philosophy doesn't work except as an interesting thought experiment.
  12. That's what they once said about geocentrism. The popular arguments weren't quite as advanced though. Besides, heliocentrism is an empiral fact, this is a question of morals. To me it's almost one of those morals that there just doesn't seem to be much of an argument against anymore.
  13. One of the best games i've ever seen, and I only got to watch the last couple of sets. When Federer got the fourth set I genuinely thought he might just have the mental stamina to win it, but Nadal worked so hard to keep him back. To be honest, neither player dominated, it was very close right up until when Nadal broke Federer's serve. Amazing game, amazing players.
  14. I would genuinely be astounded if there was anybody still out there with a modicum of intelligent or wit who still considered there to be a debate about this. It just amazes me.
  15. I think i'd probably take a singing voice as well. There might be more useful gifts/skills in the longrun but I think to be able to sing in a powerful and emotional way must be amazing.
  16. For your idea to work you'd need to create a huge potential difference between the two sources, then allow the charge to "jump" between the two points in a sudden burst. This is the basic principle behind lightning, but for this to be controlled and useable would be probably very challenging. For a start the two sources couldn't be particularly far away, the potential difference would have to be huge and the transmission would be very dangerous.
  17. Awww, what kind of girl? Someone special, and someone who's made me feel a way that I haven't in quite a while, a kind of childhood innocence and wide-eyed happiness. I barely even know her and yet it feels like she should always have been a part of my life. Anyway, I won't say anymore in case I ruin it ;) Your Protector - Fleet Foxes
  18. Don't quite know why it's that high, I don't actually have quite that many songs (few thousand off), must be a few old archive temp files or something.
  19. I don't have a problem with it at all, although perhaps if the location was slightly closer in proximity terms it might be polite if the mother asked whether or not the person nearby is okay with it. It would take a hard-hearted person to say no.
  20. Fell In Love With A Girl - The White Stripes ...it's true

I'm quite curious as to what picture Clarkson keeps showing when he says "I was on the internet last week and I found this...", since the cameras never cut to it. I'm assuming it's probably some kind of shock-site image.
  22. Science is completely amoral, and is simply a method for discovering truth. As Lateralus said, the Crusades might be a perversion of a modern, more liberal interpretation of the Bible and Christianity but at the time they clearly had religious justification. Who are you to say who's intepretation of the Bible is more correct? Surely it's highly subjective (within some bounds)?
  23. Military i'm not entirely confident about, although I still think America has much greater projection power, but economically? Please, China's rate of growth is huge but that's simply because they're mobilising a large labour force and are going through their industrial revolution. It still has a long, long way to match the economic power of the US. Japan went through a similar boom post-war but has been experiencing deflation over the past ten or so years. China's economic growth at the moment is not necessarily of their future performance. It's unsustainable long term. America's "recession" (I thought it was still just a slow down?) is probably long overdue.
  24. Jay-Z's Glastonbury set
  25. Funny, how many blatant generalisations and stereotypes people are willing to make about genres like rap.
